I don't mind getting excited because I never feel disappointed by her releases even if I don't like them. :D
|
Maybe its because Im not such a hardcore fan that if I don't like a release ie Dejavu, I just buy what I liked instead, which was Gossip Candy, that I don't feel disapointed per se. I look for Kumi for fun, awesome songs like LMB, Lolipop, Ecstasy, Taboo etc etc. These songs are unique to her and also to be honest, she generally has the best covers in Jpop so its hard to be disappointed in that regard either. (except for Anytime, the scariest cover of all time lol).

except that, all her covers are awesome, her marketing/designers are usually notable. and she is so photogenic and knows how to pose too ;) (photogenic is correct in english? :lech) |

I don't necessarily ever feel disappointed even if the release is somewhat dull. It's just kind of "oh... well I will await the next release. A single can't be too far off!" With Kumi I am usually happy if I get two songs I TRULY LOVE on an album. But there are always a ton of songs I never will feel the need to listen to ever again. I guess I'm more concerned with Ayu's releases and that hype. My fandom with Kumi is much more relaxed than with Ayu. I'm just more passionate about Ayu and her releases and more in awe of her so it is already hard enough to fight off expectations without hearing people hype those releases up.

I think the general attitude she has in and around her kinda rubs off on us too.
And sometimes I feel like koda knows how bad stuff is too, but her attitude just makes it great lol idk I think koda is more predictable too. I mean, what can we seriously expect? She's had similar releases for a long time...and personally, I usually like half of her albums, and I consider that a successful album. I think she keeps it fresh though by just having good little things. Like her covers, or her PVs, or lives, or other goods and stuff. Like, even if a song might not be the best, her live performance might be fun and great, or the PV might be crazy or something lol And I think it makes a big difference that she never really tries to be anything (besides sexy I suppose), she's just like, herself in plain form...and it translates to her work. Like, how her ballads always have a cell phone and a dead boyfriend :laugh That's so her lol So maybe we just expect that, and she can never disappoint. idk lol |
I can't speak for Koda fans in general, but for me, I think what Emiko said is close to the truth. For me, anyway. Koda is always so happy and bubbly; in interviews, on TV shows, etc. She looks comfortable and happy right now, and is just so photogenic it makes me jealous :laugh
Throughout her career she's always been herself; any scandals have been an accident and the result of her just not thinking how to phrase things before running her mouth. To me, although beautiful, confident and a great vocalist..she seems really down to earth and easy to empathise with. Unlike Ayu to me, even though she is genuinely sweet and can meet with fans, I always get the impression she is 1000x more far away than Koda in some way. Like, of I were to be at a party, Koda would be more easy to talk to than Ayu. That's not to say it's true, but basically Koda has that friendly, accessible aura that really appeals to her fans. How can her fans not be happy when she's always so happy for the public? I hope this makes some kind of sense lol, uhm..but yeah. Koda always feels closer to her fans somehow. Her upbeat songs always make me want to dance and be happy :) |
Its interesting to note that we all say that she's so happy and bubbly, and I totally agree. She acts like she's our friend, not a singer who we look up to. But, didn't she say in an interview that she was unhappy for a long time? Back when she first came out? Maybe that's why she's so happy now?
On another note, I downloaded an HQ of Love Me Back PV, but when I play it on iTunes it skips, but not on Windows Media Player. Also, it won't sync to my iPod. Anyone know why that is? Also, does anyone know how to convert that ts file of her memorial song into something that can be played on an iPod? |
^ Yeah, I remember tenshi translating an interview from somewhere saying she felt as if she was failing, hadn't found herself, etc; and then things only got worse when Avex management told her she had put on too much weight :no It seems a really dark time for her, not that you could of told it from the time. She's so strong and talked about it when she was ready..that's admirable. I guess the way she was so open about her old worries, like not knowing what to do in life and more simple things like weight, made me really become a fan too.
And sorry I can't help with the music file problem D: I know JPS has a working ver. of the single PV if you can't get this file working for you. |
i love kuu. sometimes i imagine myself as kuu and ayu's bff... i think i'd rather go shopping with kuu xD
|
I can't add anything to what everyone has said about why Kuu's so lovely because I agree with everyone here 100%. :) I love her encore in Dream Music Park when she appears from the side of the audience and even lets those two fans sing Shake It Up or whatever that song was. XD It's just too cute and makes me think she's so down to earth (meaning I realize again why I ended up turning into a Kuu stan). To me there's just no other now and will never be. :heart

pre-order links of the limited edition are up on play-asia.... (still debating on whether i'll buy it) X_X it costs 99.99 freakin' bucks T_T
stupid question, is the CD+2DVD a limited pressing just like Kingdom? since play-asia listed that version as limited. |
^ no it's not . but the firstpress is digipak ! :D
|
i'll be soooo freakin mad if play-asia only sends me the CD+Photobook of the limited edition.... the goods are supposed to be like part of the actual package of the limited edition right? not just some external bonuses of something like that.... i'm very curious on what the goods will be

The limited edition is available again on CDjapan.
It's freakin' expensive though o.o I think I'll stick with the CD+DVD for now. Do you guys often buy more than one version? This is the 1st time I'm actually considering doing so XD |

I'll wait the second press... JAPONESQUE HQ covers: http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q...japonesque.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q...aponesque1.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q...aponesque2.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q...aponesque3.jpg Click to see. |
the cover is fabulous
|
the only thing I know is that Japonesque will be first album I'm going to buy since Kingdom xD
btw, Japonesque is #1 (cd+2dvd) #5 (cd only) and #6 (cd+dvd) on CdJapan daily sales #3 in real time chart #1 (cd+2dvd) and #2 (cd only) in upcoming top sellers. I can say that since Black Cherry I haven't seen again that "success" on web-charts (whose buyers are usually foreign fans, what means Japonesque expectations are huge. forums also reflects that... let's wait for japanese audience ;)) |
