Does Timmy have a writing credit on Nanana? I can't imagine Ayu writing all that English (I know she's semi-fluent but c'mon)..if so it's Ayu first shared writing credit?

I think the English is too poor to be Timmy's. I'd be pretty scared if a person fluent in English wrote those lyrics in all seriousness, lol.

I'm sure we'll find out in the album booklet.

Andrenekoi 14th March 2012 07:18 AM

People must keep in mind that english lines on jpop are aimed to japanese people, not for fluent people or native speakers... It need to be simple, basic, and sometimes stupid, so most of her listeners can understand it without recuring to a disctionary or something...

So, it actually can be Timmy...

I know but I mean this is Ayu who has come up such Engrish gems like "My names WOMEN" and "Greatful Days"

Fair point, but

the English lyrics throughout the entire RAINBOW album were pretty complex, especially the intro of everywhere nowhere and the chorus of Real me.

She's definitely regressed with her English lyrics since that album. Dream ON was embarrassing and so is NaNaNa.

Andrenekoi 14th March 2012 08:09 AM

^I'm no native english speaker, but IMO Real Me english lines are some of most embarassing stuff she ever wrote... and I don't get how can they be complex...

Everywhere nowhere intro is far from complex too IMO, I wouldn't say both are far less complex than NAnana actually...

I'm mostly talking in terms of the level of English. You said that most English lines in J-pop were geared towards a Japanese audience, but I doubt the average Japanese person would recognize English words like "sacrifice", "complicated", "generous", "nun" (and some of the grammar thrown in there "in order to survive") without consulting a dictionary.

Andrenekoi 14th March 2012 09:16 AM

"nun" maybe not (yet, nuns have their own subgenre of s&m porn in Japan)... "Sacrifice", "complicated", "generous" aren't that obscure...

Well they are very specific types of words where other more simple English terms could have been used.

ah yea, I know that song. Indeed the music is same but the lyrics are different. The greek title means ''save me'' so obviously Ayu used her own lyrics. I like both versions!

Looks like the album leaked? I must say I really wasn't anticipating this album much, but the last couple of days it finally got my attention with that Return Road clip (no wonder, DAI composed it) and I loved her SCawaii interview so now I am actually looking forward to hearing the album. :)

truehappiness 14th March 2012 11:07 AM

For some reason it came out a week early on iTunes. Looks like it was planned since Ayu has been replying to people on Twitter who have been talking about it.

There might be a hidden track on the official release since the iTunes versions of Ayu's albums tend to lack the attached tracks, I think.

How did Ayu reply to the early release on iTunes?

How?

It seems like it was supposed to happen. She's replying to people asking about the early release and she's like "Yeeees~" and saying "Thanks!" to people who are talking about which tracks they like.
