I don't like them either but if no news comes soon, this sounds like the most reasonable way for a new release on the marketing/promoting side of things. Shes popped out digital releases with little notice or promotion in the past, but with the success of FIVE with ToX, you would thing they would have announced something already. But she was in America recently and she does record there so fingers crossed for a physical single

yay, maybe something for christmas

with all the times she's spent here in the US/America, I'm surprised she's never released anything here. I mean more K-pop and rock artists are making efforts here and are getting noticed. she should do the same, in that Avex should jump on the band wagon.

As much as I would like Ayu to release in America, ayu's accent is too thick to make an English debut. And even Hikki, who was born in America and can speak English fluently and had a stronger fanbase in America than Ayu does, was barely able to make a good release. Ayu having an English release would flop harder than NOTHING FROM NOTHING

truehappiness 16th September 2012 08:55 AM

Actually, if it has an interesting video and a catchy hook, it can do well.

Just look at Gangnam Style. The only English in that is HEY SEXY LADY and it's on the radio here and is HUGE.

If ayu'll announce new single/mini/album after the opening movie in TGS2012 (which is just 1 week again), then it's possible that we're not getting it on October 31th / November 7th. She'll not have enough time to promote it.

Unless they'll wait for the right time 1-2 months after the game release, and them BOOOM. People who've played the game and liked the song, probably will get the single/minialbum/whatever too.

(PS : just random speculation popped in my mind).

That would make sense for anybody else, but "promote" is no longer part of the hamasaki vocabulary !

Gangnam Style is a video based on novelty and the gimmick.

It's more of a "this is so stupid and hilarious".

Do people really want that for Ayu.

Her accent is awful. She doesn't do dance music. She can't make it unless she impresses the rock folk and gets their love.

Anyways...I don't really want a mini. But then...she could make a mini, then make four interludes and two generic ballads and it could be an album...so.

I don't think I care what we get...I don't think I care if we get anything at all actually. So many people are on break right now...and we just got the summer single.

Indeed. I'd never want her to do something that's nearly as dumb as Gangam Style.

we do not really need this, the golden age of Jpop has passed, and the US never officially wanted much from asian music market. now they do want only Kpop though. 2NE1 & BB doing activities there and might be the ones being successful.
PSY comes from the same agency as they do, actually

I don't think Ayu & PSY can be comparable, like, AT ALL:tired

AyuWorld 16th September 2012 02:36 PM

random thought: I WANT A KICK ASS PV LIKE RULE, Ayu please dont give us progress PV part 2 again =___=

They only care about one song...

Many decades ago Sukiyaki, a Japanese song did hit #1 on Billboard Charts yet that did not mean all of the Japanese artists would suddenly become popular in the States. This will most likely end up the same way...

Oh and progress PV owns Rule...so please nothing as meaningless and boring as Rule was.

TeamAyu2004 16th September 2012 04:33 PM

^ Blah, both PV's were boring

As for ayumi coming to the states, never gonna happen. like njanjayrp said, only one asian person has ever had a hit hear, and that was something special, lol.

As for that other song... gangman or whatever... never heard about it... maybe its more popular on the west coast?

Gangnam style is being heard all around the world. I think what makes this so popular is EVERYTHING, it's music, video, dance... so catchy... XD.

And IMO, Ayu doesn't need a USA release... There was a time I thought she'd do it someday, but she really doesn't need to release anything there, and we have to admit that her accent is not as good as it should be...

tokyoxjapanxfan 16th September 2012 04:52 PM

I think th was saying that it's possible (even for ayu) to have a world wide hit despite language barriers as long as it catches peoples attention.

not that he wanted such a thing from ayu or that they're comparable.

also, kpop trend in the states is the same as it is in japan, it's a trend. it'll pass. some artists will linger, most will fade.

i mean, look at the 80's in american music. tons and tons of artists were coming out of europe and gaining popularity (much more popularity than kpop now) and after their one big hit, they faded back into obscurity.

even kylie minogue, who had a giant hit and is english speaking, beautiful, sexy, and is dance music oriented, failed to have much mainstream success after can't get you out of my head.

even the 90's had the second wave of artists from europe with the success of spice girls. but groups like Five, B*Witched, A Teens, etc. who tried to capitalize on it were unable to secure any type of fame.

ExodusUK 16th September 2012 04:54 PM

Ayu is too old now anyway.

yeah I looked it up... it seems to be pretty popular because of the dance...
It would help if i had cable... lol
and yes the music is pretty catchy... I think if I just heard it I would of liked it more, but its hard to watch the PV and not take it too seriously...

SKYia 16th September 2012 05:08 PM

I also hope there won't be Progress PV part 2, the idea might have been good but the actuall PV was boring, if at least there was more Ayu each time the camera stopped (eg in clothes from different parts of the world) it would be much better. A PV with concept and dynamics like Rule would definitely be good but I still hope for something new that will have Ayu in it and no Timmy (if Timmy is there let at least let him have a stylist to make his hair, make up and clothes...)

HTMSD 16th September 2012 10:24 PM

I don't want ayu to release a full english-language album, but I just wanted her to have at least one of her big song sung in English that'll put in her album/single. I mean, we already had Who... ~chinese version~, why'd not having onlye one/two song in english? Not only "dance dance dance do it again" endlessly, lol.

I bet we all feel the same bout those, but there's 0.00000001 chance that she'll ever release a physical one. And it does suck big.
