I didn't know anything about Ayu either. For me it started when I was in army. Some dude played "Cyber TRANCE presents ayu-trance" album :D Sounded awesome and it started from there. :)

We don't even know if she's #1 or not yet.

And to everyone who said sales don't matter - how many of you would have started listening to Ayumi if it wasn't for her huge sales? D:
Me, since I like her for her musical style and that's what drew me to her ;). Honestly I knew jack about Ayu or how big she was in Japan until I kept listening to and researching her--and even after like, 7 years it really doesn't mean much to me how much she sells. Doesn't make me think any different nor would an artist who outsells her be more "appealing" to me.

jon_the_d 1st January 2008 07:54 PM

The only reason I care how much she sells is IF SHE CARES how much she sells. I don;t want her to feel upset or unappreciated, and I certainly don't want her to feel like she's "done" and that she should quit.

But it doesn't or wouldn't affect how I feel about her and her music.

Love her too much ;)

I Downloaded her song by mistake, around 2001 and it was until 2004 that I got to know how successful she really was. So I agree with ayumisrael on this one too! :D

I'm almost completely sure GUILTY will be #1, letting ayu break another record?

OMG. The army... in a European country. That's, like, the most unlikely place you could ever hear Ayumi. LOL Amazing.

Peger 1st January 2008 09:41 PM

Why do people always start hating on Kuu when Ayu's sales go down?

KaoriNeko 1st January 2008 09:42 PM

^Because they're "rivals".

criminal 1st January 2008 09:47 PM

Don't forget, she uses sex to sell all of her CDs. ;) Which is so ~unfair~.

elepop 1st January 2008 09:51 PM

Sex doesn't even sell.

Koda was super sexy back then. She wasn't popular at all. People didn't even really noticed her. Yet, she had PVs like "SHAKE IT". Now that she does lots of cuter songs, she's a lot more popular.

Peger 1st January 2008 09:55 PM

Except her sexy songs don't sell well - her cutesy songs & ballads do.

mangoo_x3 2nd January 2008 01:09 AM

I thought her sales would increase when new years come but it didn't but yet If I think about I'm not as surprised, In my opinion her album wasn't as good. I really do hope she still can get the number #1 position.

I don't think they hate her because ayu's sales go down (kumi's sales go down for that matter too so it's just the same) they just don't like her I guess, but it's still not a reason to bash her >_<
I saw enough bashings towards ayu from kumi fans when ayu succeeded in stuff as well though.

I dun really agree on that. It was her sexiness brought her to the top back in secret and BEST eras. And not to mention that actually her cutesy songs dun sell that well today anyawyz. Personally I love the past kuu, not the current one.

Yeah... this is the weirdest place to start getting into ayu.. :yes

ayumisrael 2nd January 2008 01:27 AM

LOL my friends that are in the army actually blasting her there XD (well just some songs of course, they're not really jpop listeners unless if it's a really good song).

Jwiz 2nd January 2008 04:35 AM

but it's still weird to hear ayu songs in the army..wahahas.

cttncandy 2nd January 2008 04:59 AM

I know this will make some of you very happy so here it goes =D

Over at JBook Guilty is currently holding #1 and #6. That is the highest the CD only has been ever since we started tracking it through that site. It usually hovered between 8 and 10, so I guess that is very exciting =D

TITANIC 2nd January 2008 08:16 AM

i dun care about the sales..
but i care with the position and chart..
its more important than the how much the sales

Lee_Hamasaki 2nd January 2008 10:37 AM

yeah...but kobukuro's all single best is at number 9 O_O

anyway number 2 and number 3 change every day (it means that cd+dvd and cd-only version sold about the same number of copies.
