I was completely stunned when I read that Eye Ai article . I was like WHAT are you kidding me Akanishi ? o_O & considering that Eng's not his 1st language , wow I say & it's very commending on his part

this's a bit off topic Eirynne but I'm curious to know for Southern California slang , how does it differ from the usual way you speak Eng ?

is it done verbally or the body language/gesture you make when you talk ? :shrug

if so I want to see an example on that if possible :laugh

i don't think there's such a thing as "correct English" when you speak it. :P there's so many different variations of it. slang is just an indicator of where you're from. :)

SoCal slang is the more "relaxed"...since i guess we're very laid-back people here. lol. we use "like", "oh okay", "whatever", "...yeah" a whole lot.

Jin uses it in the article when talking about Will Smith & wrestling him: "He is so strong and I am like....yeah" :D

i can't really bring out my SoCal-ness online. :laugh but if you watch clips of Jin speaking, that's how i'll sound like. LOL.

ah ok I get that now . I speak in that manner sometimes too . Blame that on Totally Spies :lmfao where it's set in Beverly Hills , California :laugh

I love using words like much , whatever sometimes at the end of sentences & Clover rocks xD xD

That with Singlish (using words like lah , leh , lor at the end of sentences) , it's any wonder on why I failed Eng when I was in secondary school :dead2 -_-

If Akanishi picks up Singlish , oh man , that will be interesting xD & he will swear in Hokkien dialect ALONGSIDE with Eng :laugh

I'm a page late, but I'm also VERY impressed by Jin's English! I got really happy for some reason when I read his interview. ^^
And I also agree that the first impression of him can give off the wrong wibes, but when you read and listen to him more closely you can see the bakajin is still there. XD (and the cute and caring jin as well ^^)

yeah it's not just him , I had the same feeling for Tanaka too

I was so scared of him initally @_@ but in due time , I realised it's just an image he portrayed & nowadays whenever I see him , he cracks me up for some weird reason/s I cannot explain
