Hearing new Japanese songs from BoA makes me SO happy that she's kinda back in Asia. I'm glad she debuted in the US and I'm so proud of her... but the music she released there didn't quite felt like the BoA we all know.

Of course they know, but they are happy with what they have because they don't know what to do with her. She can sing good ballads and she can dance. So they focus on that. All her music at any point of her career is like that. BoA's music hasn't been progressing for a while. She's entered her twenties and she was still doing cutesy pop music(Brand New Beat). She still operates with the same formula that made her popular. Eien was different but didn't work. She's done sexy, the usual marketing trick, and that didn't work. Now she cut her hair because the first time she 'did' it, people paid attention.

The PV does look kinda boring (well, most dance PVs are), but now I really don't give a damn about PVs anymore. I only watch them once in my lifetime anyway. As long as the song is good I'm fine with it. So far, the songs sounds alright to me.

I don't know if you're only talking about her career in Japan, but in Korea she did the whole sexy thing in the My Name/Spark era and I thought she pulled it pretty well! She kinda fails the whole sexy look in Japan though. Which is weird.
