I think Utada has just been blessed in the media and for the first time she is having to deal with this side of it. Like I said before, Utada has experienced nothing of this kind her entire career. I see her as a child in this respect and it shows in her statement/tweet. I would expect nothing less of the paparazzi. This is Utada "First Love" Hikaru.

ayumu says, "WELCOME" guuuuurl. Lawd knows she's been dragged by horses.

Just because we expect the media to do it doesn't mean we should accept or tolerate it.

Like, I mean, I guess maybe I'm just used to how it is here, but I feel like, if it was a funeral for someone here in CA, the media would have made deals with people to get their wanted coverage, without being so in-your-face about it to where it's an actual *problem*, like blocking the street.

Even if they have to be sneaky, or whatever. They aren't going to be all like, right in the middle of things. Especially when there is police and such. Everyone might hate them afterward, but they're much smarter with their game here. They have relationships with celebrities and companies, and even the police.

I feel like Hikki should have had her father, or a publicist, or something take care of the media for her.

I'm not blaming them, it IS rude of the media, but I guess, I'm just not really used to the media ever being gracious or respectful over their own agendas.

I suppose they are expected to be in Japan, but obviously, that's dying out.

I'm pretty sure Hikki wasn't the only one losing a family member here, so, there was no way her father would be on the emotional shape to deal with media either.

A publicist would be useful, but knowing japanese tabloids, this could easily backfire too... "A publicist for a funneral? Is she promotion herself with that?"

Still... Celebrities aren't perceived as human beings in any media that I can think off... The most brutal japanese media was with Hikki, they would be brutal on other ways on other countries (like calling the celebrity endless to ask how are they feeling when it's obvious they aren't happy a family member just died)

emi♡ 23rd September 2013 02:11 AM

I was just saying because I think her father is hare manager or something, right?

I'm actually surprised she doesn't have a publicist in general though. Most big celebrities have one full time, but I was always under the impression that she took care of things herself. She might have one, idk.

And honestly, I think I'd rather have shitty "is she promoting herself" stories in tabloids, if it spared me having to deal with them on my own private time.

I don't think we should accept the media, but the fact is that most of the time, they are operating completely within the law. In Japan though, who knows.

Yeah that's why he made those comments about Keiko's years of mental instability and regular upset she caused by contacting Hikki and himself. Sounds like he wasn't very surprised. Emi has a point the paparazzi was doing their job. They really shouldve expected this for a mother of one of the biggest stars in Japan...

Andrenekoi 25th September 2013 12:24 AM

^It's not that simple... Keiko herself was one of the biggest stars in Japan once.

@u3music 23 Sep
Yes!! teruzane RT @kevin931227 Universal Music and EMI had already merged. Will that means high chances of In the Flesh to be released soon?

CoriKaru 25th September 2013 11:36 PM

They release stuff so late lately.

Who even cares anymore.

NintendoHTF1242 25th September 2013 11:49 PM

Wasn't that concert three-thousand years ago why the hell are people still bugging Utada about it. It's never coming out.

emi♡ 26th September 2013 12:45 AM

I'll bitch if they don't release the one I was at when it was her birthday.

Cause I'm spoiled.

& + H 26th September 2013 02:24 AM

Does this remind anyone of anything? :innocent

I have the sudden urge to make an Utada v. Ayu playlist equip with its own cover.

Zahara 26th September 2013 06:49 AM

...a nice looking garbage converted into an outfit?

The release better have her NY show on there. Hometown represent!

amorphose 26th September 2013 03:50 PM

Didn't they say it would be a montage of the New York City & London dates? I'm pretty sure they tweeted about that forever ago.

Black fungus?

In case you didn't notice, I was one of those people "bugging" him about it. He was tweeting a lot of stuff in Japanese about it so I just took the opportunity to ask him about it for English speaking fans. He has been answering quite a few questions about Utada in general. Who knew that Utada smoked back in the day? lol

Delicious n Bold 26th September 2013 07:50 PM

Oh utada
Smoking helps to ruin the vocal track...
I hope it didn't affect her in any way
Then again, she isn't Janis Joplin

To be honest, considering her technique, smoking is the least of her concerns...

She mentioned smoking in an interview back in 2009-10ish. Doesn't seem to have affected her at all. Maybe Ayu should light up a few joints once in a while. Maybe she'll sound half as good as Utada, and with her lyric comp. skillz, we'll be looking at a major comeback.
