I think the reason why she isn't like booming popular in Japan is because:

1) type of songs she sings
2) exposure

Her songs are never mainstream imo... she tried before with Swear, and some of the songs in the "my life" album, but I still think alan is a niche artiste.

And yeah... I'm more shocked than anything that there hasn't been a single TV performance for anything off the Kaze Mukau ni Hana single at all... so that could be a factor.

Oh well... I still love the single, and it's still one of my favorite alan singles I think, really solid.

Well hopefully with the movie premiering....it might help with sales~

She got just one performance on TV: HAPPY MUSIC, is not MUSIC STATION but is a great show too

but going to other company could mean that they might change her style, or even worse...forcing her to do things that she doesn't really want.

at least avex respect her, and the company is rich enough to give her promotion. she always have really nice covers, they are really supporting her. But for other companies, they might not be willing to spend so much on a non main stream singer.

in fact, i just have the feeling that alan's first week sales....at least 30% of it are from overseas buyers, or chinese that are staying in Japan, because chinese tend to support own people. Even at ayuhina, there's quite a lot of members(in Japan and out of Japan) there who likes alan and BUY her cds

....well.....it's hard to not to worry.....

I was worried about her since I discovered her lol. Cuz she just doesnt have very mainstream songs. She has talent, but that doesnt mean she will sell well. Rarely people with talent get big. She has to suck up to public like kana nishino, her image is perfect for japanese public. Maybe alan can try this super innocent look with little bit of sexiness lol.
She always looks like heaven goddess, like... untouchable. She's too talented for showbusiness imo.

^I really wish people here would read posts more thoroughly... Some people were concerned she MIGHT be dropped if her singles didn't sell more.

Alan will sell more when they'll do from her "sweet idiot" like from those H!P girls or Ai Otsuka, Kana Nishino etc. Do you really wanna another "singer" like this? AVEX is commercial, they do music for cash - not to release something good but anything what people will buy. Alan doesn't fit to commercial music market. Her style isn't something what can sells good, that's why they're trying to push her to mainstream (what is so easy to hear at her 2nd album).

I liked her so much at the beginning for her uniqe (as on j-pop market) style: way of singing and traditional chinese folk music ellements. Now she lost all her shine with Avex experiments and I guess there'll be worse and worse with another releases...

^Although you rant.....I'm sad to say I have to agree to some extent. my life was just so lackluster and generic.
