Hadakando (the song) is still awesome even up to now :heart

jiarongisme 14th January 2011 10:35 AM

Yamashita Tomohisa’s “Ashita no Joe” holds private viewing

http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/1171/2011118joe.jpg

A private showing of the upcoming movie “Ashita no Joe“, starring Yamashita Tomohisa (NEWS), was held on January 17th, and cast members including Yamashita, Iseya Yusuke, Kagawa Teruyuki, and Karina showed up.

Karina confessed her feelings regarding Yamashita and Iseya, who both underwent fierce food restriction and stern training to modify their bodies into boxers, “They were both so fierce looking, and had an aura which made me hesitate to speak to them.”

http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/3...arinaiseya.jpg

Yamashita, who played Yabuki Joe, the legendary manga character, said, “I felt a lot of pressure, and wasn’t sure if I would be able to fulfill the role of Joe. However, I have learned from Joe that it’s important to keep challenging. I never thought that I would be able to be immersed in one thing this much.”

Yamashita also confessed that there was a time when he really flew off the handle during the shoot after he received “real” punches in his empty stomach. Yamashita said while looking back to those days, “I thought, ‘So, this is the fighting spirit…’, by looking at my truly angry face.”

Iseya Yusuke, who played the role of Rikiishi Toru, the rival of Joe, described Yamashita as an “ab freak.” According to Iseya, Yamashita kept doing sit-ups in the corner of the studio even when he felt sick.

The official release of the movie will be on February 11th.

YesAsia's description of Aoi Bench

Johnny's Entertainment duo Tegomass - made of NEWS members Tegoshi Yuya and Masuda Takahisa - are back with their first single in over a year and a half. This time, the duo covers defunct folk-rock duo Sasuke's hit song Aoi Bench. Hear how the Tegomass boys give a fresh take on the refreshing folk-rock tune, which will be heard nightly on television as the February theme song of ranking show Onegai! Ranking

Hadakanbo's 1st day position is #2

http://www.oricon.co.jp/rank/js/d/

Nackar_91 19th January 2011 01:38 PM

I knew sales were going to be lower since the album is going to be released next week, but this is kind of a shocker. At this rate it might not even reach 100k, which I was expecting...

Oh well, let's wait for the album.

KarenPang 19th January 2011 01:44 PM

Hadakanbo is only released in 1 edition , unlike multiple versions which applied to Yamapi's past singles

anyway for me what shocked me is that it didn't debuted at #1 on the 1st day , maybe Johnny-san will pull some new tricks & ensure that it will snag #1 at the end of the week ? xD

I don't know , it happened for KAT-TUN's RESCUE so we'll see :P

I noticed it just earlier while checking and it sounds like a really solid album so far! Can't wait <3

dreamland2.0 19th January 2011 04:59 PM

It's because it's an AKB subunit that's #1 so I think considering he's doing well xD Especially for only one edition and the album being released next week.
I will definitely check out this album!!

Beauty4123 19th January 2011 06:35 PM

#2 isn't bad! but i sooo thought yamapi would be #1 instead, lol. :P

can't wait to watch him perform on friday!!

Nackar_91 20th January 2011 11:25 AM

Hadakanbo is at no. 1 today with 15016k in sales. French Kiss is number two with 13k. Hadakanbo's total is 37538 now. If his sales don't drop as much as French Kiss' do, he might actually end up being no. 1 for the week anyway.

Hadakanbo sold another 7,760 copies, totalling at 45,298. It's alright.

The enormous Ninki for Supergood, Superbad gives me some hope that maybe some people DID pre-order it along with the album!

KarenPang 22nd January 2011 07:09 AM

Yamapi is holding a handshake event tomorrow in Tokyo's Sunshine City World Import Mart Building from 9am to 1pm

http://community.livejournal.com/news_jpop/5991028.html

A copy of Hadakanbo has to be purchased in order to attend this event

See , I told you Johnny-san is doing anyway possible to ensure Hadakanbo gets the #1 spot overall :p but this's the 1st time I came across a Johnny organising something like that

I thought it's the norm for non Johnny's artistes that I listen/support but guess not :P

jiarongisme 22nd January 2011 02:55 PM

Oh god I love this SO MUCH. I really need to get the DVD asap.

dreamland2.0 22nd January 2011 05:49 PM

Wow handshake event?? That's a very idol-y thing to do!!
I haven't watched the tour yet! I need to get on that!

KarenPang 23rd January 2011 03:05 AM

handshake events are quite the norm for non Johnny's artistes that I listen/support but I seldom see it for Johnny's but eh I could be wrong about it though

I don't think autographed sessions are common in Japan but for handshake events , it's quite the norm

Maemi 24th January 2011 11:37 AM

Does Yamapi have his own thread? I can't find it... o.O

Anyway, I've finally managed to hear his new singles and re-listen the old ones (I can't wait for his new album, and I love when artists put 2 CDs especially the good and bad ones :laugh ) So...

Daite Señorita - Never liked this single. And I'm scared of the songs titled "señorita" >_> I like the beginning of 指輪 though... too bad the rest of it is awful.
Loveless- I like all songs, even the B-sides, it's probably his best single^^
One in a million he reminds me of Usher in this song and I have no idea why xD (but I like Usher...he's kinda incomparable btw), if you listen to this song more than 5 times, it can get into your head and become catchy, but it's still too funny, I mean, he's singing "One in a miyion..." The B-sides are meh.
はだかんぼー is ok even though I'm not a fan of that sound. Is it jazz or sth like that?

Glamorous_Sky 24th January 2011 11:43 AM

^I think they just post Yamapi news (excuse the pun) and Yamapi discussion in this thread, that way it'll be in one place. Unless I'm mistaken :) The only single I've ever enjoyed of Yamapi's was Daite Senorita...oh how I miss 2006.

KarenPang 25th January 2011 04:13 AM

Yamashita Tomohisa’s single “Hadakanbo” is #1 on the Oricon Charts

Yamashita Tomohisa’s fourth solo single, “Hadakanbo”, was released on the 19th of January and has already claimed the top spot on the charts!

Yamashita’s single is his first solo release in about four months, and “Hadakanbo” sold 68,000 copies in its first week, giving the popular NEWS member nothing but chart-topping singles since his debut with “Daite Señorita.” Including his participation in NEWS, Akira to Shuuji, and GYM, Yamashita currently has an impressive 21 consecutive singles that have ranked at number one under his belt.

On the 26th, Yamashita Tomohisa will also be unleashing his first solo album, “SUPERGOOD, SUPERBAD.”

http://www.tokyohive.com/2011/01/yam...oricon-charts/

see no surprises that Hadakanbo will nail #1 since Johnny-san will do whatever it takes to keep the #1's streak going on for Yamapi

but omg 21 straight #1's for Yamapi in total ? unbelievable :dead2

Nackar_91 25th January 2011 09:08 AM

I just hope it'll be able to sell 100k in total, or the drop from One in a Million will just seem a bit much. I mean, we know WHY it's less, but still XD

Really curious about Supergood, Superbad now : D

Beauty4123 25th January 2011 06:07 PM

i'm glad yamapi got #1 after all. :P

SUPERBAD is just flawless <3

Nackar_91 25th January 2011 11:10 PM

I love both versions of Hadakanbo! ^^
This album will be one of my favs ever! *sighs* Pi is so great! I really hope I can go see him in concert in May! >.<

I'm watching Pi's promotion thingy in Thailand and it is pretty entertaining (except for all the noisy Thai I can't understand lol)
but he is so adorable!
I squealed like all those girls when he said in English "Today is supergood." ^^

KarenPang 26th January 2011 10:36 AM

SUPERGOOD SUPERBAD is at #1 today (as expected)

http://www.oricon.co.jp/rank/ja/d/

honestly I have listened to both discs & I must say SUPERBAD is not as horrible as what I thought but it's a solid album effort overall

but so far for me , SUPERGOOD > SUPERBAD for me xD

Nackar_91 26th January 2011 10:51 AM

I do prefer SUPERBAD, but I really love the album as a whole. 25 songs! I'll probably be getting an overseas press as well, though, because 33 euros is WAY too much.

Sales are slightly low. Oh well : /

Neo Daydream 26th January 2011 05:16 PM

Yamapi arrived in HK prepared with 50-member entourage

http://pics.livejournal.com/murasaki_sky/pic/00069htr

It was a busy day yesterday for fans at the Hong Kong International Airport after a string of Korean and Japanese stars arrived one after another. Japanese idol Yamashita Tomohisa, Korean actress Choi Ji-woo, and Korean actor Gong Yoo all arrived in Hong Kong yesterday.

Yamashita will be holding his concert at Star Hall this weekend. Yesterday he arrived in Hong Kong to prepare for his shows. When Yamashita was in Hong Kong last year to promote his concert, it ignited a huge commotion at the airport with a number of fans injuring themselves trying to get close to their idol. This time, the organizers increased the amount of personnel on scene. His record company arranged for 20 security guards, while an additional 30 staff members were on hand to handle his reception. However, there were only 20 fans who showed up at the airport for his arrival.

When Yamashita appeared, his fans were ecstatic. Many continued to follow him as he exited the airport. Yamashita waved at fans and extended his greetings while security guards continued leading him out of the airport. Several fans prepared gifts for him, but he didn't accept any to avoid any commotion.

aoi bench (short ver.) PV :)

KarenPang 29th January 2011 02:29 AM

you know it wouldn't hurt for JE to show the full Aoi Bench PV as I think it's a bit silly to call it a short version with it standing at 3:52 mins ~_~

anyway Aoi Bench's still fantastic & Masuda is adorable *O* . Tegoshi finally looks great after so long xD

the PV really reminded me of ARASHI's Ashita no Kioku a great deal , given the way photos are used to make a collage picture on the wall :p & let alone a bit of Ken Hirai's Sing Forever too x)

maybe the director for Aoi Bench is the same person who directed Ashita no Kioku ? :P

jiarongisme 29th January 2011 02:55 AM

TOO. AMAZING. OMG CAN'T WAIT TO GET MY SINGLE T_T

Oh and I think SUPERGOOD, SUPERBAD is neither super good, nor bad... I like some tracks from SUPERGOOD and also Touch You from SUPERBAD. It's not bad for a debut album but I think it could be better imo.

KarenPang 29th January 2011 05:39 AM

I thought the same with regards to SUPERBAD because I didn't like that a lot of songs on there are very Americanised sounding / full of Engrish / autotune / synth driven :x

I already dislike One in a million mirrom & to hear even more songs in that almost same style , I almost wanted to throw something at someone

then again , I suppose those same group of songs are perfect if you want to plug them loud in a club but for me since I'm not a clubbing person , I'm not going to do that

but the R-midwest REMIX of MOLA is nice

for me , I like the SUPERGOOD album tracks more than SUPERBAD . Aoi is pretty <3

ll moments ll 29th January 2011 08:39 AM

i'm sort of addicted to SUPERBAD, ngl. Irene likes to party it up, i guess. :laugh i haven't properly listened to SUPERGOOD though. i should get on that...

Nackar_91 29th January 2011 10:49 AM

After the dust has settled I've come somewhere in the middle. I don't OMFG love the album but I do like some tracks. Still, if the SUPERGOOD side had been a bit less cliché J-Pop cheesy and the SUPERBAD side not as overly auto-tuned and synthesized, it would've been much better. But there are tracks on both sides I adore.

Aoi on the SUPERGOOD side, and One in a Million and especially Yours Baby on the SUPERBAD side.

KarenPang 29th January 2011 01:30 PM

Gomen ne should have been in SUPERGOOD instead of SUPERBAD

it feels really odd for it to be on SUPERBAD , like it's 1 sore thumb outta all the Americanised sounding tunes there ~_~

packaging for the 2CDs + DVD of SUPERGOOD SUPERBAD

http://pics.livejournal.com/sailorocean/pic/0001qwq6

wow it looks great but not the most wow packaging I've seen of an album this year :p it so far goes to Kuroki Meisa's MAGAZINE album

Scans for both editions of SUPERGOOD SUPERBAD can be downloaded here

Beauty4123 30th January 2011 06:17 PM

awesome packaging! i like those designs! :P

anyway, i feel so stupid to be surprised about this, but half (if not almost) all of the songs on SUPERBAD use auto-tune! :roflmao i should have known, lol. but i really do like the album! i'm a fan of these dance songs, so i don't mind. the lyrics to ONE GIRL crack me up, though! "walking on air like a millionaire LOL. :tipsy

my favorite SUPERBAD song is probably PARTY DON'T STOP feat. DJ DASK. it's just too catchy! and it has the best beat. :D as far as SUPERGOOD is concerned, they're all pretty good songs! but i ultimately prefer SUPERBAD. although, i really like Santa Maria. i love how yamapi says it, lol. very catchy. :P

ll moments ll 31st January 2011 12:43 AM

^ omfg i'm shamelessly addicted to "PARTY DON'T STOP" as well. it makes me want to go clubbing or something. :P

the packaging looks great! but i dunno if i'll get the album. :laugh

KarenPang 31st January 2011 12:44 AM

I'm looking at the lyrics sleeves for the SUPERBAD portion & yes a good portion of songs are in English/Engrish :x

ONE GIRL & MOLA are the only 2 songs that're full English/Engrish while the bulk of the rest are 85%/90% English/Engrish & 10%/15% Japanese xD

honestly I root more towards SUPERGOOD as ick I dislike a lot of autotune/synth nonsense from SUPERBAD even though I still feel it's a mistake for Gomen ne to be on SUPERBAD as it sounded very outta place there :x

everytime i listen to TOMO, it just reminds me of ikuta toma, LOL. well, the title does, not really the song. which i like, too. i like the "tomo-saki" part. :P

i listened to Blood Diamond, and did yamapi actually say "sexy ass" & "honey bunny" LOL. :laugh as if auto-tune couldn't make you laugh. the engrish is amazing! :roflmao

Tokyo Sinofietta is really good, too. :cool honestly, if i ever got the album, i'd listen to SUPERBAD so much. i just can't get over the music! i'm a sucker to this music when it comes to jpop, but it's even better when yamapi/JE do it! :laugh

KarenPang 31st January 2011 01:00 AM

here's the lyrics sleeve for ONE GIRL :p -> http://i51.tinypic.com/2hx8ufo.jpg

to me , if Yamapi wants to go for this kinda style for his solo stuff , I can't stop him but I don't want it to be a spillover effect for NEWS , that will be a bit :tired

I'm going to write/review about SUPERGOOD SUPERBAD soon on my blog , it's just that I need a bit more time to get my ideas all sorted out together in 1 place :p

Beauty4123 31st January 2011 01:01 AM

LOL just saw that in your tweet to me, karen! :roflmao i misheard those words! it's really "sexy eyes" & "honey body". i never would have guessed, LOL.

who's elizabeth & garcia, though? :roflmao i'm really laughing right now!

KarenPang 31st January 2011 01:22 AM

:roflmao :roflmao

are there anymore lyrics that you want to see from the SUPERGOOD or SUPERBAD side ?

I can upload them for you to see if you want

but yeah the SUPERBAD side is more amusing if you want to pick at Yamapi's English/Engrish :p

Beauty4123 31st January 2011 01:32 AM

haha, it''s okay karen! if i want them sometime soon, i'll tell you! :P

i could imagine SUPERBAD would be hilarious. no lie about that! :laugh

is it a must to really know what airline Yamapi took ? ~_~

he could have taken Singapore International Airlines for all I care/know :innocent

Bigtop 31st January 2011 03:48 AM

But he was flying to Hong Kong, and Singapore Airlines don't fly from Tokyo to Hong Kong, only Tokyo to Singapore...

KarenPang 31st January 2011 04:40 AM

~_~ ~_~ ~_~ ~_~

if you're so unusually interested on what airplane Yamapi took over the weekend , why not you write an email to Johnny-san yourself & ask about this

instead of asking senile questions like that . I mean do you think we NEWS fans will bother as to what airplane Yamapi personally took ? :irked

he could have taken a budget airline if not a private jet for all I care ~_~

Yamashita Tomohisa starts his first solo Asia tour

http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/7...itahongkon.jpg

NEWS member Yamashita Tomohisa just started his solo Asia tour, “TOMOHISA YAMASHITA ASIA TOUR 2011 Super good Super bad“, at HITEC Star Hall in Hong Kong.

Yamashita appeared to the stage, receiving enthusiastic “Yamapi!” calls, and he performed “Daite Senorita“, “Fever to Future“, and “Seishun Amigo” as the opening songs, and grabbed the hearts of 4,000 fans. When Yamashita performed “Seishun Amigo” on the stage, 360° surrounded by the audience, almost all the audience was dancing to the song with Yamashita.

A total 25 songs were performed during the live concert, and Yamashita said to the fans, “I knew you guys (fans in Hong Kong) were very powerful, but it was just way beyond my expectations. I will study the language more, and I want to sing Hong Kong songs next time!”

Although he has held a live concert as NEWS in Taiwan in 2007, this was his first solo concert in overseas. During the concert, Yamashita gave handshakes of his own accord, and he even went down to the auditorium.

The live concerts in Hong Kong were held on January 29th and the 30th, so Yamashita said that he watched the Japan’s final for the Asian Cup at the hotel room after the concert. Since he is in good contact with one of the Japanese team player, Nagatomo Yuto, who had the game winning assist, Yamashita gave congratulations to his friend from Hong Kong, saying, “Nagatomo was amazing. He encouraged me. Congratulations.”

It’s been 9 years since any Johnny’s Entertainment artist has held a live concert in Hong Kong, however, it seems like the popularity of JE boys, including Yamashita, is still quite high. Since the tickets for the two live concerts in Hong Kong were sold out in an hour, there were two more additional stages. Thus, Yamashita held four stages in total in two days.

With this Asia tour, Yamashita will also visit Taiwan, Korea, and Thailand, apart from the five locations in Japan. He said, “I would like to dwindle the distances in this world. I hope I could make people in other country think ‘Idols in Japan are pretty fun.’”

Good, I suppose. I wonder if he will continue to release solo singles and albums in the future ^^

KarenPang 2nd February 2011 03:07 PM

I want Tegomass to release a 2nd album . Something tells me they might do it this year if not next year since they already have Tanabata Matsuri & then soon Aoi Bench

much as I want the others to release solo stuff , I don't think it will happen & instead you're stuck in duo pairings within NEWS

jiarongisme 2nd February 2011 03:59 PM

I wouldn't mind another full-length album from Tegomasu because seriously, they haven't disappointed me at all. <3

Random: I WANT NEWS TO RELEASE A PV COLLECTION DVD!!!

dreamland2.0 2nd February 2011 04:00 PM

Yamapi punches up a show in front of 12 boxing champions and 1000 fans

Tomohisa Yamashita (25) delighted fans and impressed world champions as he put on a boxing show at an event for his upcoming movie “Ashita no Joe” in Tokyo on February 7, reports Oricon, Mainichi Shimbun Digital, and CinemaCafe.net.

A “Champion Carnival” was held at Korakuen Hall, the holy land of boxing in Japan. The venue commonly appears in the original “Ashita no Joe” manga series. Twelve new and old boxing world champions joined Yamashita and his movie’s cast inside the boxing ring, where Yamashita showed off his boxing skills. Despite the fact filming had finished six months ago, the pop star managed to punch mitts non-stop for three minutes.

“This was a privilege. I’m sorry to have shown these world champions something that isn’t worthy of them, but I put everything I had into boxing, grew to love it, and I trained every day.

“‘Ashita no Joe’ is truly a movie that everyone put their heart and soul into,” Yamashita said.

It has been reported current WBA super featherweight champion Takashi Uchiyama said he was surprised Yamashita could punch so much in three minutes. Former WBC and WBA champion Koichi Wajima (67) said he was impressed with Yamashita’s form.

“What’s important in boxing isn’t training your muscles for strength, but for speed. But it’s harder to get your muscles into shape for speed so you did a good job,” he said.

When Wajima had been told Yamashita had only trained for four months, he gasped out, “what, really!?” in surprise.

Former WBA super flyweight champion Satoshi Iida (41) and former WBA super bantam weight champion Osamu Satoru (34) said real training probably helped bring out reality in the movie.

“I could tell it as soon as I saw Yamashita-kun’s body. Even a real boxer would say he had a boxer’s body,” Iida said.

“Yamashita-kun and Iseya-kun had the right bodies because they did some real training. It was really, really amazing,” Satoru said.

Yamashita’s co-star Teruyuki Kagawa (45), who plays Joe’s trainer in the film, said he wanted to more Ashita no Joe action.

“(Yamashita’s boxing) got my adrenaline pumping. I hope there’ll be a sequel!”

The movie “Ashita no Joe” is based on the manga series written by Takamori Asao and drawn by Tetsuya Chiba, which was published as a series from 1968 to 1973. To date, more than 20 million copies of the manga have been sold. The manga has already been turned into an anime series, which ran once in the 1970s, again in the 1980s, and has also been made into to anime movies in 1980 and 1981.

The live action movie will open in Japanese cinemas on February 11 with Hikaru Utada’s “Show Me Love (Not A Dream)” is the movie’s theme song.
