Where would one upload a track without Timmy's rap? Even though I like his little rap, I made one without it. I guess I'll just put it here for now. I'm trying to work on Return Road, but I would have to remove the entire last chorus and replacing it with the second chorus and also removing parts of the second to last final chorus after the piano breakdown, thus removing all of her "runs" and key changes. =\

OMG, I feel like my name's WOMEN is of the highest quality she has EVER DONE. Right down to the PV. The song is just fierce and POW and amazing production. That instrumental hook is KILLER! Every time I listen to it the last thing I ever think of is "cheap" It's such a BAD-ASS song. It's one of the songs I feel proud to be an Ayu fan when I listen to. One of the songs I just want to throw in everyone's face and say "yeah, this is who I listen to"

Lol...my name's WOMEN is NOT what I'd use to introduce someone to ayu. I actually have a playlist on iTunes of songs I would use for that exact purpose.

I just think mnW can get a bit repetitive.

What songs would you choose? I wouldn't pick anything pre-Memorial Address at all. Her voice is too overpowering there and hard on the ears (although I love it and have never had a problem with her squeaky voice). I just feel like, if you don't think my name's WOMEN is one of her most polished piece of works, what would you say is? I literally am getting a headache trying to wrap my head around how anything bad can be said about my name's WOMEN. That hook. That mother-effing killer hook. I wouldn't venture into her back catalog right away since it's so out there for mainstream. I do not agree on Don't look back (you probably know that, haha) or even INSPIRE. Rule is too chaotic and Return Road is not as good as her best rock works (Because of you, About you, GAME, Microphone, 1LOVE, is this LOVE? are all MUCH better). Actually, looking at your playlist I find a lot I disagree on: AUDIENCE, immature, Don't look back, INSPIRE, Rule, Return Road, curtain call, Sunrise (maybe at a later date), Bold & Delcious

I guess I pick a lot of rock songs but I feel like they are just the most powerful music she has done and I feel like her rock is on a whole 'nother level than any other type of rock music. It really sounds bad-ass and she really owns that genre of music.

As far as earlier works, I would pick the more fierce tracks yet again like:

Also, RAINBOW and maybe SEASONS.

But I do think something from each era is better than just one song... she is so diverse in her music just something from one song or even one album wouldn't be a true representation of her work.

And although all the songs you picked are really really good... I dont feel they are diverse enough.

Well if it was about diversity I would throw in more variety but with all the people who have heard Ayu and who have liked her along with me, always like the rock songs. It was always my safe bet. I mean it's hard to see the magic in some of her more abstract earlier works when you aren't completely mesmerized by her/a fan. But for "normal" everyday/mainstream American people, I think they would find the songs I selected great. It's not completely off the wall, but it is different enough from what they hear over here to make them say "wow, that is actually pretty cool"

I feel if they don't like those songs, they sure as Hell won't like the other more strange stuff. I would choose examples that you wouldn't expect to hear from someone known as "a Japanese popstar" - if they don't show interest right off the bat (say they aren't already fans of J-Pop or interested in asian music) then I wouldn't feel as comfortable bringing out Sunrise or the other stuff you'd "expect" from "J-POP" - I would want to take their expectations and turn them upside down.

I hate it that I had to cancel my order o.o this album is good but... yeah.

My friends basically love the sound of her metal music/weird/meaningful PV's but I think most of all Mirrorcle World has made the lasting impression PV+AT08 but I hope for shake it to be good because I only want to show Return Road to my friends at the moment. Though I think NaNaNa will be alright because of the beat and the camera angles but I don't know about timmy. But I think NaNaNA looks fun

I agree with you, zeke. my name's WOMEN is (imo) as good as pop music production gets. It's actually one of my least favorite songs on MY STORY, too (which admittedly doesn't mean all that much because that's by far my favorite album). And I would never introduce a new fan to anything pre-Memorial address (or maybe RAINBOW, depending on the song, like HANABI). That's just when her vocals got easier to stomach and the production on her songs became a~ma~zing.

I thought Dream ON was good for what the original song was! What can you expect from that hot piece of garbage? Lol. He wrote on facebook "Ayu needs better producers. Or at least, more contemporary ones." Besides, can't really remix Party queen songs when you have no instrumental to use in order to acquire the vocal track.

Yea, he's right. I mean, Ayu seems to be lost since "NEXT LEVEL". Ayu's discography ends for me with GUILTY. Her last valuable album. Everything after GUILTY I only listen to out of boredom or fun.

He could work on good remixes if he doesn't like Ayu's producers. Albums like Rock'n'Roll Circus and FIVE need someone like Dj Amaya. Really.

Weird to think how long ago GUILTY was. I feel like it wasn't that long ago but when I think, it really was. I feel that way even with A BEST 2. I'm like, it wasn't that long ago and then I realize I was still in high school when it was released and it was right around when I got my license!

My goodness, Timmy's voice irritates the living daylights out of me on her records. It was absolutely superb on BRILLANTE, but it totally ruined MOON at CDL11-12 and it's so out of place on songs like Return Road and Eyes, Smoke, Magic. Ayu's voice can't hold up against his, so it drowns her out, and for God's sake, I'm not buying her album to listen to him sing over her.

I think he just needs to be used more sparingly on her CDs. He was on over half of the tracks this time around, which is more than enough for most people.

Since he seems to be working with her during concerts from now on, I don't think people will be able to avoid him there.

I'm surprised she made so much use of him considering the backlash about a-nation.

Gah! I was in my last semester of college when A BEST 2 came out. I remember I was so broke from rent and school supplies I couldn't afford either that or Secret :grumpy Haha it doesn't feel like it was that long ago!

Is Timmy the first person Ayu has used in multiple aspects of her music? Because he's on albums, composing, singing, "rapping". He's in PVs "dancing". And he's in her live shows, doing what ever the hell it is he does there. Is there anyone else like that? Also, I wonder if some people don't like him because he's not Japanese. Like Mannie, I wonder if he'd be more well received if he were Japanese. Maybe Ayu is going through some Euro-love phase? I would explain her look lately too.

The only other ones who have come close are her dancers who have gotten a lot of spotlight in recent albums and occasionally sing in her songs (Sunrise) but never as much as she's used Timmy. Basically, the only part of her career that Timmy hasn't been a part of yet are her photoshoots. If she does a pamphlet for HOTEL Love songs though, you can bet he'll be a part of it.

i've just seen it on an ayu facebook page. they use the DVD version of the album.... i thought for the trucks they would use a less revealing picture... but now they have a supersized almost naked ayu bum cruising through the streets.... :D that should brighten some people's day ^___^

In the first print of Uraayu book you can see Ayu's nipples in the photos taken in the hotel room (she's wearing a short blonde wig) wearing the wet t-shirt, the offending nipples were photoshopped out for the second and following prints.

The choir voices (I read this is Timmy's voice? I thought it was a woman.) toward the end of Return Road is starting to really irritate me. As long as I'm complaining, the way she sings "-wo" and "-nai" is kind of difficult to sit through. :roflmao

Still, it's my favorite track on Party Queen.

Part of me feels like the Timmy overload is due to her maybe being lonely because of the divorce but the other part of me thinks ayu is a professional and maybe uses Timmy as a "prop" for this album. I don't really complain about Timmy because I like his songs and I think his male voice complements ayu well but I really hope he is nowhere near her future projects vocally, visually or on the stage.
