I agree :D And not sure about that, bug I hope its not just for them.

Don't like the album. Kinda annoyed by the songs. Best one is Lovely.

So, about Lovely... Can't believe people weren't liking it! It's catchy, really fun. Can't help but smile during the chorus. Don't think it's too long at all.

Find it very strange people were calling this boring but the whole forum is obsessed with that snoozefest LOVE again album.

It's a pepped up version of Someday!

emi♡ 23rd February 2013 09:25 PM

This album is fantastic. Of course I still like all of the upbeat songs better than the ballads...but just like her other cover album, the ballads are pretty nice.

Again, I'm really proud of the arrangements they came up with and all the different feels of the songs. And I really love that jazz track. That's great :heart

I do feel like this album is a bit more "muted", and that the tracks aren't so in your face. I kinda like that.

happiholic★ 23rd February 2013 09:36 PM

Thanks for the SkyDrive file, emi. Much easier than using all those sketchy upload sites.

emi♡ 23rd February 2013 09:45 PM

No problem :D

And omg just saw the Shake Hip PV. She. is. fabulous. Must learn dance.

Ah, and pink spider pv is up @ jps now. I'm behind. Weird how we got dvd rips before the tv hd ones.

Yeah, they really should have had pink spider be extended for the finished pv.

Dream 23rd February 2013 11:30 PM

I love Pink Spider PV, but I don't get why is it so short...

Heavenly 24th February 2013 12:34 AM

I listened to the album and I have to admit that I like it !
Except a few tracks, I find it very rockish, colorful, rich and fresh !
Maybe I'll buy it later .

Just watched the Shake Hip! PV, too! One of my favorites in a long time. I need an HQ version to watch on my HDTV and bask in her glory. It was simple, but I loved the dancing!

freedreamer 24th February 2013 01:56 AM

I have NO IDEA what is going on Pink Spider's PV. She gets a gang of women and...form their own independent troupe? I thought there would be this grand storyline...but...huh?

emi♡ 24th February 2013 02:05 AM

Oh I see~ I was wondering wth lol

Gustavopc 24th February 2013 03:06 AM

I though the "movie" version was going to be included on the DVD, how sad ):

So, here goes my overall views on Color the Cover, longest post of the year so far hahahahaha

Spoiler:

Pink Spyder - Great song, even if it's not as dark as hide's version. idk I think that still kept its strength and now there's a bit of sexyness. Much better than the cover thar RIZE did, which was basically chaotic-way-too-long intro, ten times more screams and drums and guitar riffs.
The PV was a bit messy, but it's really eyegasmic! Confuse plot, yes, but then I'm used to this when it comes to Jpop :laugh She looks amazing in those scenes inside that cage

Shake Hip! - Probably my favorite on the album rn It's catchy and I could play it on repeat for like forever hahahahaha Everything fits well in here, amazing job
About the video, I love the simple concept of it, and she looks amazing in both sets! Plus whoever coreographed it did an amazing job, cant wait for live perfomances OMG ASFGHJKASDFGHJASDFGHJKL

Lovely - I like it, not that sweet-Melting-ish, yet cute. Could be shorter, but this doesn't bother me at all lol
The video tho was a bit poor, not a fan of her outfit nor her hairstyle and there's nothing going on... Skippable

Jounetsu - AMAZING I LOVE HOW SHE PULLS OUT THOSE AGUILERA ROARS IN THE ENDING OMG Seriously, amazing! If she ever pulls another concert like ETERNITY at Billboard Live, she NEEDS to perform this!

One more time - I love the feelings I get while listening to this, a bit ethereal a bit rnb. It's like a reloaded version of It's too late meeting faraway <3 Amazing

Alone - I was hoping for a new version since they didnt include a preview along with the other songs ): Still I love it hahahahaha The song grows in such a beautiful way and her vocals are superb

Blue Velvet - Reminds me of TATTOO! The intro is great and I found such a love for that break that words can not explain it omg Wish it had a PV instead of Lovely uuuurgh

Otoko - It doesnt sound like a Kuu track at all, but I like it hahahaha Its style reminds me of Aya Kamiki a bit, which is a total win. Great song, I can already see this growing on me to one of my favorite songs of 2013.
ps: I hope Kuu perform this and Blue Velvet with No Man's Land in a rockish section of JAPONESQUE Tour, it could be EPIC!

Dounimo tomaranai - Even though I was hoping for a latin styled song, this one is such a solid and catchy tune, there's no way I could not love it hahahaha The begining reminds me of all those generic pop songs for dance clubs, with that chiptune-ish voice and all hahahahaha

Koyo no - I think it's the weakest track on the album, but as the album is so strong, it's not something that bad hahahaha Beautiful song, totally singable in a concert ending, but not my piece of cake

Uta wa - I already loved this since she covered it back in 2010 [?] and now I'm glad there's a HQ version of it lol Epic, totally. If she keeps ever stuck to this style when she gets older, I wont mind at all. Actually I'd love so, I think! :P

Summing everything up: Catchy and strong album, already prefer it over a handful of some of her studio albums. It could be longer tho, only 10 tracks + Alone gives you a feeling of "OH MY LORD I NEEDED MOAR SONGS IN THIS". Amazing job Kuu, keep on this track for your new studio album k?

Foxxy_Fuyumi 24th February 2013 03:40 AM

Jounetsu
Jounetsu
Jounetsu
Jounetsu

AMAZING.
Love this song by UA. But Koda really made this song even better.
Pink Spider and Blue Velvet also amazing!

ALfromHELLSING 24th February 2013 05:14 AM

Lovin' Color the Cover, every track and this amazing 80s 90s feeling about it. My only complain is why the hell どうにもとまらない is only two and half minutes long. Is it song or interlude.

Disappointed with this album :(. I only like three songs: Pink spider, Blue velvet and Dou ni mo Tomaranai. Anyway, it's a cover album, still looking for her next original one... :)

I was gonna say rhythm nation but that was just wrong
And google failed me somehow. Somehow...
Someday
I like that song actually!

I'm really lovin dou ni mo tomaranai(?)
I actually paid the album dust when I first listened.
Now I'm digging it! Weird but I don't care.

KLJames 24th February 2013 06:28 AM

in preview Blue Velvet sound GOOD,
in full Blue Velvet sound SO GOOD!
i start imagine short hair Kuu (like in FANTASIA) perform this in rock section of her new tour! that will KILL!!!!

tenshi no hane 24th February 2013 07:56 AM

I don't understand why everyone loves 'dou ni mo tomaranai' :laugh It's nice but not special to me. /I'm not criticizing, I'm just curious./

I really love the way One more time, One more chance builds up <3 Lovely lyrics too. And I love her anger in the Otoko's chorus, especially because I felt that was missing in the original.

setsuka 24th February 2013 09:19 AM

...lol each pink spider video we get feels like a trailer

so did this one, ughhh

anyway I love it for what it was, but I was hoping for more

Twinkle ! 24th February 2013 09:21 AM

Guys don't judge Kuu for a cover album , we better judge the original artists :laugh

I think Kuu did a very good job with the album and the arrangements are so good . I guess her cover for One more time , One more chance is the best among the others .

I'm satisfied with with the album , couldn't help it but to wear my hoodie and listen to the album non-stop at the class :laugh

Dream 24th February 2013 12:43 PM

Did people actually dislike this album? It's way more good and solid than many other albums out there recently.

TeamAyu2004 24th February 2013 02:45 PM

Nothing too impressive here...
but I dont care for cover albums, so thats not saying much... It just seems like she is trying to hard. Really the only good thing about these songs? Koda Kumi is singing them.
lol

Ayu_Love 24th February 2013 03:24 PM

I really like/love a good half of the tracks on this album. I love Pink Spider, I've been listening to it on repeat :D I think this is the first album in awhile where the PVs have excited me just as much if not a little more than the songs themselves. Even though the I wish the PV for Pink Spider was longer and with more dialogue scenes, I really love all 3 PVs in this album, some of her best in while for me ^^

taskinillusion 24th February 2013 04:14 PM

hmmm I don't really get ppl who don't like cover albums by default especially in Jpop since most of us unless you lived in Japan and are really aware of the music would have heard of any these tracks safe a few before Kuu even covered them

so like it is as if they are new songs, like to me this is like original album pretty much since besides her interpretations I have never heard of most of these songs

anyway my two cents since cover album trend is so huge in Japan nowadays

still waiting for Crystal Kay to make one :cry

edit:

promoting LOVELY on Music Japan, looking like a cute mama

krauterol 24th February 2013 04:52 PM

pv for pink spider is a complete dissaster. great locations and stages, great make up, hairstyle and clothes for kuu, great song, horrible direction, horrible editing and horrible acting.

the great budget production with less crappy scenes and a bit of coreography could make this a very great pv. so sad!

on the other hand, shake hip pv is completely fabulous!

Beauty4123 24th February 2013 05:51 PM

i've just listened to "Color The Cover" & it's an amazing album! when i listen to the songs, i forget that they're actually covers and not kuu's original songs. that's how good they are! :P my two most favorite songs are "どうにもとまらない" & "情熱". but "Pink Spider", "Lovely" & "Shake Hip!" are my other most favorite songs from the album, as well. but overall, the album is just so awesome! :)

and i also just watched the "Shake Hip!" PV & it's totally awesome, too! i really liked the outfits that kuu wore. she looked absolutely stunning! especially in that dress she wore with that blonde wig. that was my favorite look from the PV! she just looked so pretty. :heart and the song itself is great, too. :)

So very, very true! The only song that I knew about on this album before hand was Passion, and that's because it was sampled in a Miliyah Kato song. And with her first cover album the only song I knew was Ai no Uta, and Kuu was the one who introduced me to that song.

EDIT: After listening to the album... I like her first cover album more :P

Ayu_Love 24th February 2013 09:33 PM

^Agreed. :) I don't know many 80's or even 90's Jpop songs, so I have never heard these songs before asides from Pink Spider, so even though I know they are covers, they feel like completely new songs, especially since Kuu has re-mastered them in her style so well, it's like a small studio album. :)

ren'ai 24th February 2013 11:23 PM

I love this album but for now I love ETERNITY more, that had a lot more unique sounding individual songs. But my faves are: Pink Spider, Shake Hip!, Lovely, One more time, Otoko, Dou ni mo, uta wa and blue velvet

Pink spider pv was a bit.. Underwhelming. It was good for what it was but I was expecting a lot more to happen. It didnt make any sense to me either but I thought it kinda fit in the songs lyrics (for me) about death being the ultimate freedom but that might not be what they were going for lol i dont know. Adoreee shake hip pv tho

yeah and she gets more hate for the album just for supposedly "covering hide mega hit with that much of disrespect" from jrock fans already, I guess the album has more of a bad reputation among japanese public now, then some grain of recognition, tbh

I am really pissed of at Ninagawa for doing such a cheap-retro looking-not-so-good-PV, because among her works it seems to be her worst, lol

I really like the album and can't wait to get its physical copy with the photobook, but ETERNITY still seems better to my taste, probably because the song selection was better there

YuriChan 25th February 2013 09:58 AM

Honestly, the only songs I enjoyed from the album are Otoko, Jounetsu and Uta wa Waga Inochi! :D

Minttulatte 25th February 2013 12:18 PM

Wow, Color the Cover sounds nothing similar to ETERNITY ~Love & Songs~. I really like the styles she uses for the album. ♥

Zahara 25th February 2013 05:39 PM

As if hide would hate that she covered it. I swear his fans are so blind....I always felt his 'suicide note' was Hurry. Go Round, NOT Pink Spider.

She did an excellent job covering it. They all need to take several seats away.

PS, did anyone else order the CD-Only version? :weep

PrincessAyu 25th February 2013 07:49 PM

I must say, I was highly anticipating Color the Cover and it's amazing!! <3

ピンク スパイダー 8,5
First I was kinda blah about it because the PV previews looked..'cheap' and the style didn't appeal to me, but full song is great. Especially great in the car ;)

Shake Hip! 8
Most anticipated for me since she sang it together with Tatsuya Ishii at FNS Kayousai. I prefer the original song's music/arrangement though

ラブリー 8
Was worried it'd be too long, from all the comments I read about the length but it's just fine and a nice laid back style. Very cute.

情熱 7
It's ok, but not special.

One more time, One more chance 7,5
Very beautiful.

Alone 8
So sad and beautiful. ;_;

Blue Velvet 9
Damn. I love this so much. I read so many negative comments about this song, why?? It rocks. Maybe cos original is by Kudou Shizuka... :3

「男」 8
Sounds like James Bond in JPOP style. XD

どうにもとまらない 6
I don't like it. It's bland.

今宵月のように 7,5
Just fine.

歌は我が命 9
Great style and Kuu sings perfect. It's amazing. Really like this song, beautiful lyrics too.

All in all, great solid album by Kuu. ♥

maze 25th February 2013 09:09 PM

flawless album. my favorites are Pink Spider, Shake Hip!, Lovely, One more time one more chance, Alone, Blue Velvet, Otoko, and Dou ni mo tomaranai; it's like a new original kumi album to me 'cause I never heard the originals before, and the style for each track is so kuu-ish. she never disappoints.

I don'tknow why everyone is criticizing the Album Version of Pink Spider PV, it's not even the original video.

emi♡ 25th February 2013 10:08 PM

I don't think many people knew that we weren't going to get the full video for the PV.

Even arama promoted the album version as the "full version".

Gubsi 26th February 2013 12:10 AM

i really love the whole album package from songs to booklet to pvs!
yes it's not a masterpiece, BUT i really enjoy this!
and it's a nice album next to ETERNITY!
ETERNITY is mature, classy & elegant!
Color the Cover is fun, energetic & colorful!
and that is all i want at the moment!
(after the depressing songs inferno during winter season... my playlist was kinda full of this!)

and meh i didn't like the original ENGAGED'06... so say hello to my other "Not Faves": For you, JOY, Joyful, BELIEVE feat. DJ YUTAKA, So into you! #dontjudgeme

Chibi-Chan 26th February 2013 08:20 AM

I was really looking forward to this album, because I like cover albums and a lot of the songs on this one are songs I really like/love. But to be honest guys - this album is just trash. I wonder if all those people praising the album bothered listening just once to the original songs.
I like it when cover songs aren't exact remakes of the original song and bring in the personal style of the artist who does the cover - but this doesn't mean I want Kuu to turn all of those great songs of J-Music history into dull standard club songs or R'n'B tunes. I mean, what the hell happened to "Pink Spider", "Shake Hip!", "One more time, One more chance" and "Otoko"?

In general I like it that Kuu fans are always so happy about all the stuff she releases, but a little bit more criticism and less seeing things through rose-colored glasses would be nice too from time to time.

I don't think it's necessary. I don't care about the original songs.

What I care about, is what Koda presented us with. I think she did a good job. This is her genre of music....what else was she supposed to do?

Besides, some of those original songs have such horrible, and dated arrangements. People who like club and R&B songs, now have a chance to love the best part about those songs....the melodies.

Most artists see covers as a way to bring great songs they themselves like to a new (younger) audience, if people don't care for the original songs the meaning of doing a cover would be lost. And what made those songs great were of course also the arrangements. Kuu could have done a great rock cover of "Pink Spider" for example, I'm sure she would be able to. She has done rock before, so why not? But instead "Pink Spider" got this empty sounding dull club sound. And moreover club and R'n'B songs don't have to sound that empty and cheap like most of the covers on this album do. The arrangements those songs got are just terrible and trashy.

Minttulatte 26th February 2013 11:44 AM

^Sorry, but Kuu just never fails to impress me with anything she does. :)

Jawdarna 26th February 2013 12:03 PM

I had actually never listened to One more time, one more chance before. I listened to Kuu's, and then I listened to the original. Being far more of an acoustic/light-rock lover than RnB, I have to admit I liked the original better.

HOWEVER I also ADORE Kuu's version. I like what she brought to it. An entirely different take. It's why I don't particularly like the term 'cover'; it just brings people to compare two versions of one song. I'm sure somebody who preferred Kumi's style of music would far prefer her version. :shrug

So really, it's subjective as per usual. :D

Gustavopc 26th February 2013 12:06 PM

I think you're being too harsh on Kuu... I understand some people do not like all songs on CtC, but trashy and cheap? Of course she did a risky move when turning Pink Spider into a electro-dubstep song, and maybe also with Dounimo tomaranai, but there were the rock tracks which were much more well worked on than TATTOO was, we have Jounetsu, Koyo no... I see everything in CtC but cheapness...

Twinkle ! 26th February 2013 12:09 PM

Actually I don't see the difference between the original one more time and kuu's :laugh . Kuu's version is beautiful and I listen to it non-stop

kaled kalil 26th February 2013 12:44 PM

@Chibi-Chan: Did you really expected a rock cover from Pink Spider? Did you ever listened BE MY BABY? The original is a rock song and she made it a electropop thing.

To me a cover is a "fail" when it sounds exactly like the original, and Kumi always bring a new breathe to those songs... For god's sake, the album is called Color The Cover, it's about making songs have a more appealing and colorful style. And yeah, I checked out all the original songs, and they're great, and so do are Kumi's covers. You are making a big deal of this calling them cheap and trashy, for sure.

And I'm not that kinda of fan that licks her floor when she walks in, she do bad things too (hello Dejavu, I'm still looking at you), but that's not the case of Color The Cover.

Come around next time she releases a ballad.

Minttulatte 26th February 2013 12:46 PM

If Kuu's electropop version of PINK SPIDER was released in 2007 I would have said I love the original version more because I was obsessed with rock back then. But my music taste has changed since then (thanks to Kuu for that btw) and now I prefer more R&B, dance, hip hop and electropop tunes than rock so of course I loved Kuu's version more lol. :D

To say the purpose of the album is to make the songs "more appealing and colorful style" is disrespectful to the original artists. Normally artists make cover songs as a tribute to the original artist and not to make them "better". And in general I'm ok with "Pink Spider" not being a rock song anymore, what I'm criticising is not that the songs got a new arrangement. Like I said in my first post I like it when cover songs aren't exact remakes of the original songs and instead bring in the personal style of the artist who does the cover. But the arrangements on "Color The Cover" are just far away from being great. Like I said, they are plain cheap and trashy.

I listened to all the original songs before listening to Kuu's versions and I do prefer Kuu's versions. If anything, to me, the 80s/90s tunes sound dated and Kuu managed to breathe new life into them. To each his own. You don't have to like them, but get off your high horse and stop talking as if we're not allowed to like Kuu's versions.

I don't like the originals asides from Pink Spider, because I personally have no interest in 80s or 90s JPOP. If you do, and don't like Kuu's versions, that is fine. But I like Kuu's versions because I like her style, so naturally, I am going to like that she has made covers into her own sound, because that's the type of music I like, instead of the original sound I don't personally like, and it's the same for everyone here. You're assuming that people like them just because kuu has covered them and not for the songs, because you don't personally like her versions? That's pretty assumptious, don't you think? It couldn't just be that being people that love Kuu's music, they are naturally going to also like her covers as well? No, of course not. :rolleyes

Heavenly 26th February 2013 04:56 PM

I just listened to Shake Hip! by Kome Kome Club, and their version is very old ^^
It had to be a hit back then, and Kuu managed to keeep that "hit" thing and gave a "sexy" vibe to this song.
I can't wait to hear this song live :)

Minttulatte 26th February 2013 04:58 PM

I rarely like the original versions of the songs Kuu covered. TATTOO and SWEET MEMORIES are probably the only ones that I really do. :D

maze 26th February 2013 05:14 PM

opinions opinions... it's understandable why some people don't like what kumi did with the original tracks, I actually think japanese people won't like it either, I mean it's not their style. that is why most of us LOVE it :laugh

in my opinion, it's not just the modern arrangements in her covers, but her vocals as well, they're so vivid and energetic that all the songs she covers turn out so much better.

anyway...

I'm whoring the album like there is no tomorrow, but I did my own tracklist for it (since it's pretty balanced and I don't like the original order) - didn't include Uta wa waga inochi 'cause it's out of place

01 ピンクスパイダー
02 どうにもとまらない
03 Shake Hip!
04 ラブリー
05 One more time,One more chance
06 「男」
07 Blue Velvet
08 情熱
09 今宵の月のように
10 Alone

I can imagine this album having a Music Video for every song, it's so flawlessly great.

happiholic★ 26th February 2013 05:16 PM

I don't like the album, but I'm not going to insult Kuu by calling it trash. I don't think she was trying to hurt anyone, just doing her thing. I just don't like it this time around.

EDIT: I get the feeling that there will be some people who are only casual Kuu fans who will come in here and agree that we are never too critical of her. But, I guess that's the different levels of fandom. I guess I don't think that it makes sense to over criticize my favorite artist. There is a reason she's my favorite.

setsuka 26th February 2013 05:57 PM

blah blah her versions rock

anyway for me usually I do get interested in older hits cuz of her

right now I am really liking Kudou Shizuka and UA's music cuz of her and last time she introduced me to Chara (who I mega stan ) and Yamaguchi Momoe

also I like all the originals, Pink Spider at first sucked to me but it grew on me once I added it to my ipod

She's not disrespecting the artists though, and if they felt she was, they never would have agreed to letting her cover the songs (huge media problems etc.)

She's taking the songs and making them her own, in her own way, and updating it.

So basically, what you're trying to say is that in your opinion, you don't like that the covers sound so different from the original source. That's ok to voice your opinion, but I feel that there's a nicer way of saying things instead of just calling something outright trash because it goes against your idea of what a cover is.

I'm not trying to m ake a problem or start anything, I just had to get this off my chest. I mean...everyone who has covered Pink Spider has covered it as a rock song, she wanted to do something different. I know you said you were ok with that, but I feel that a lot of people has issues with the sound, so I'm addressing that too.

I repect your opinion, but I feel there is a better way of wording things.
I still have yet to check out the whole album lol. I'm so lazy...

Shake Hip! was perfomed at Bokura no ongaku with an outfit pretty similar if not the same of the PV. I mean, the Cool Beauty/Secret agent outfit, just saw a pic at FB

Did you think that the reason kuu fans are so optimistic is because they enjoy the music she produces? We are a simple bunch to please lol.

Kouyou 26th February 2013 07:33 PM

@Chibi-Chan Just because you don't like the new arrangements or they aren't your taste, it doesn't mean they're trashy. Not to be rude but I think that was a poor choice of words... you could say low class or low budget, but the word trashy makes me think of Courtney Stodden or something. I don't know, maybe that's just me.

Anyways, I think there's a difference between blindly loving everything an artist releases and what the Kuu fans are doing here. Kind of like what happiholic★ said, I see no point in criticizing an artist you love to the point of insult when they release something you don't like. If you read the posts about Color the Cover on the past few pages, I think you'll see quite a few people mentioning songs they didn't like, but unless provoked, why should they go further in depth about why they don't like them? I think it's more important (and more fun) to focus on the positive and that's why I love coming to the Kuu thread-- people here are always so positive about the things she does. It's not fun being a fan when all your fellow "fans" are dragging your favorite artist through the mud. Most of us here at AHS aren't musical professionals anyways so we can't properly critique releases. :freak

happiholic★ 26th February 2013 07:37 PM

^Courtney Stodden. Oh god. :roflmao

Chibi-Chan 26th February 2013 08:45 PM

I think you guys not even try to understand what I say. It's not the genre of the songs I'm criticising, I'm a Britney fan and to say it's just not my genre and I just don't like dance pop doesn't make any sense.
For example, I really like "Scream & Shout", 'cos it works as a club song, but it is just trash like "Color The Cover". The arrangements ARE trashy and cheap, if you like them nonethless that's ok, but it doesn't safe the songs from being what they are. Normally I woudn't care about Kuu releasing trashy and cheap sounding songs, but she turned really great songs carelessly into something that could be considered an insult towards the original songs.

Edit: About the original artists decided to give the songs to Kuu. I'm sceptical to which extent hide agreed to her "Pink Spider" cover. And in generel most of the time the label of the artists decides about things like that, the original artists often don't have anything to say when it comes to things like this.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and have the ability to express their opinion as long as you're not artist-bashing or fan-bashing. Some of what has been said could have been said differently so it didn't look like a non-Kuu fan was just here to put down the fans who liked something that someone else didn't.

I guess we can all just agree to disagree on the word "trashy".

@whoever posted the book~

happiholic★ 27th February 2013 12:46 AM

You can't definitively call something trashy. That is totally subjective. Going back to Courtney Stodden, I for sure think she's trash. But, I'm sure she feels differently. I'm sure she thinks she's hot and "vivacious" or something.

I don't even like the album and I don't think its trashy. Just boring. But, again, that's my opinion :yes

FedEx will leave your package, you just have to leave a note on your door (with a signature) asking them to do so. I do it all the time, b/c I am not usually home when they drop by that early in the morning.

...This would have saved me so much headache if I had known sooner. I hear there is a barcode you can stick on your door for the drop off guy to scan. Its good, so your neighbors don't get funny ideas about stealing your signature.

[QUOTE=emi♡;2980093]Well, first off, hide is dead so I don't think he has very much to say about it./QUOTE]

---> thats a nice way to put it ..... poor hide

indeed he is not here with us anymore , but his family own the rights to his songs (there was a lot of fuss when yoshiki used hide image during x japan latest tour, Headwax a company own by hide's brother did sue him because he didnt ask the right to use hide's image) , so his family or at least Headwax had to agree with avex in order for kuu to cover it .

that being said . i have to agree i didnt like those covers either ( maybe because i knew all the originals to start with/or maybe because i fallow kuu since her debut and her style have changed a lot) and couldnt stand her voice being manipulated so much or the electro sound on pink spider .

im not saying i didnt like the covers because they don't sound exactly like the original, i didnt like the covers because i would have like some different arrangement than the ones done for this album.

kuu does usually wonderfull & classy covers during music fair/or during her Eternity: Love & Songs tour but the ones in this album are just not reflecting the full potential of her voice and the music arrangement weren't the best .

dont get me wrong i still like kuu , but for me this album wasnt what i was expecting from kuu :no

again everybody have different taste i respect it.those are only my personal opinions.im just adding my 2 cents for this album review . please also respect the people with a different opinion .

now for those who are interrested here re all the promotional pics and inside preview from her album https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...4137694&type=3

here are the photos for the namba fashion event https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...4137694&type=1

kaled kalil 27th February 2013 11:37 AM

Oh God no, this package.... I hate those things more than digipak.

I think people are getting afraid of saying their opinions about the album right now lol it's not that people here can't accept other opinions, but how things are said. Its like going to Ayu's thread and start talking SHE'S SUCH A **** ON PARTY QUEEN COVER, WHAT A B****, you know?

Btw, I don't think that making a cover more appealing is something bad at all, I think that catching a new audience with the covers, even young girls and boys that wasn't born at the time of the original tracks, is something great. I always tend to go look for the original version to see how much the artist changed it.

And I know how hide's family is with his things and memories, so I'm pretty sure that someone of them is happy with the cover, and if it wasn't they won't let her release this song at all.

Minttulatte 27th February 2013 11:51 AM

I think some people should learn to say their opinions here in a way it doesn't hurt anyone because that's how messages are easily misunderstood and drama will occur. :p

And I love that back cover for Color the Cover. It's awesome! :D

Gustavopc 27th February 2013 01:41 PM

Color the Cover debuted at #5 on Oricon (#3 sold 16k copies)

Minttulatte 27th February 2013 02:54 PM

Maybe those sales will rise soon. :3

thinkingoutloud89 27th February 2013 03:46 PM

strange how people are stating the autotune as one of the bad things and it is only present in two songs, of which one is an electropop song (at least now). I think they did a wonderful job with the arrangements and made those classy songs fitting for her rather then using the original arrangements. That way she does not have to live up to those and can do it in her style. This album reflects every aspect of Kuu-chan from her last few albums and like always, they will be even better live.

AyuHamasaki01 27th February 2013 04:48 PM

Does anyone have HQ textless covers of Color the Cover?

Klauser_Bateson 27th February 2013 05:46 PM

Quick question about Dou ni mo Tomaranai. Around the 1:45 mark, the song stops for like a quick second, then continues. Is that supposed to happen?

Also, wow is the song HELLA SHORT. Still like it though.

I find the cover album pretty decent. Aside from Lovely and Alone, I like all the songs she covered.

tokyoxjapanxfan 27th February 2013 05:47 PM

I much prefer her soulful renditions of the songs from Eternity.

All of the songs on that album are Kuu, but they're done in a much better way imo.

However, there was also a much better song selection. I don't really like any of the original songs from CTC, and so Kuu's versions didn't really excite me to begin with.

But, that's just me. These versions are still Kuu, just... a different side of her. I prefer the other side, I guess.

happiholic★ 27th February 2013 06:23 PM

Reading the comments, I've come to wonder, do people think that because the genre of the song is electro that automatically makes it soulless crap? And that only rock can have meaning?

Mimichild 27th February 2013 06:47 PM

Color the Cover is a good album but I still think the PV's are cheap. Pink Spider is like the hybrid of DDD + Because of you while Shake Hip! is showgirls + Inside Fishbowl x (ECSTASY)-Love Me Back. -__-
