However, I can understand not everyone has that kinda money. :heart

So cheap <3

I just realized, Namie has been using English in her songs since the beginning and Ayu hasn't, yet when Ayu sings in English, it usually comes out a lot clearer than when Namie does it. This doesn't make sense to me.

pommy48 18th March 2013 08:16 PM

Well, it feels like Ayu comes into contact with more English-speaking people and she's often in NY/LA or Europe
And Ayu studied a bit in NY in her early days~

Since she write her own lyrics, so she need to have a better understanding of what English words to use while Namie's Engrish is written by someone else

But recently, it feels like Namie's Engrish has really improved! :) Well, just not that "no supplies" part :laugh

R_Hikki 18th March 2013 08:23 PM

^ You definitely make a good point with Ayu writing her own lyrics and having a better understanding of what she's saying :)

It's kind of cute! She should really be better though. I take her recent improvement as a good sign.

I know this maybe old b/c I've been off the Namie spectrum, but I saw her 20th Anniversary Tour and it was GREAT! What really got to me was how fast she could run in those boots! :D

For a live cover and the fact her voice is very different from Utada's, I'll say it wasn't a bad attempt and it was very brave of her. :)

I've never been so much of a fan with Namie's voice. But I love it when she belts and her voice is so strong and whole. I almost melted with her Wishing on the same star performance at BEST FICTION TOUR. Too bad, she pulls her mic away whenever she does that.

Am I the only one who doesn't want Namie to release an album so soon? I'm still loving the songs but it feels rushed, and I love physical single releases =/

Benikari47 22nd March 2013 03:37 AM

^No i kinda feel that way too, Contrail sounds promising and while i love Big Boys Cry/Beautiful i'd rather want her really giving 100% and take her time putting out great material. I don't want her to be like Koda and spit out material all the time to the point where it's not exciting or creative.

Don't get me wrong, i'm loving the anticipation when Namie releases something but with her it's always been quality over quantity and i'd like it to stay that way lol.

But I'm glad she's releasing another new song. Hopefully that means an album is coming soon <3

ILoveGeniuses 22nd March 2013 03:23 PM

Nice. Very nice... just never quite pictured this from her.

chocopockymaster 22nd March 2013 04:12 PM

Fourth-ing the sentiments about the obnoxious chorus. But I really like the verses! I wasn't a fan of BBC so I'm looking forward to Contrail/Can U Feel This Love, however they end up being released. :) It would be so weird for her to put out a new album, even though I guess she's got plenty of material.

everlastingRAINBOW 22nd March 2013 05:38 PM

Really like it! The chorus is a tad cheesy, but man do those versus sound like they should be off QoHP! The versus actually are very similar to "I Love You"'s versus if they were sped up!

Mirrorcle Monster 22nd March 2013 05:51 PM

Im usually very happy. I just tend to ignore when other people complain too much.

However, this new song, I'm not sure what to say. I like it, but I'm not super over the top taken with it. I think I like it. However, it won't be a personal favorite of mine.

Delicious n Bold 23rd March 2013 03:31 AM

i listened to sweet 19 blues and i found the whole thing better than anything released after uncontrolled, save for bbc

Yumsushi 23rd March 2013 03:31 AM

Her Engrish may not be bad in this song, but it definitely has it's cringe-worthy moments.

I really don't feel like "can you feel this love" suits her at all. It reminds me of "only you" which I also didn't like at all. BBC was all bubbly and cute but it still felt like a Namie song. This one feels really generic and the kind of song I'd expect from an idol group or something. It has no cool Namie factor if you know what I mean

ILoveGeniuses 23rd March 2013 03:34 AM

I LOVE "Only You". It's pretty. "Can U Feel This Love" however, feels a bit juvenile in its sound though. Not sure if that's the right word to use, but it doesn't sound overly mature to me. There's cute Kuu songs that sound more mature than this one in my opinion. -_-

AyuHamasaki01 23rd March 2013 12:56 PM

A new song? Omg :heart She's on a roll!

The new song sounds really amazing. Her english is so good in this song!

Big Boys Cry is awesome and Beautiful is really beautiful! ♥ :D i really love BBC music video too.

can't wait her next album.

Rocky Raven 24th March 2013 05:40 AM

BBC is her worst song, ever. I skip it right after the opening chorus. I hate those kind of melody. So cheap and terrible boring. Thank God 'Beautiful' was there to save this single for me.
Why can't she just sing something cool like Top Secret, Defend Love or Violet Sauce anymore? ==

I know a lot of her new releases are her own choice, but lately it feels like avex is turning her into the new ayu: release as much as possible as fast as possible so we can get that money

GREENsora 24th March 2013 06:39 AM

^You'd think avex would realize that's the formula for artist burnout :rolleyes

Kouyou 24th March 2013 08:42 AM

I love Damage and Big Boys Cry more than anything on Uncontrolled, to be honest. I can't wait to see what she'll put out next and I hope she releases an album soon. Nobody wants another single collection with some of the songs being 2-3 years old, à la Uncontrolled.

Corvina 24th March 2013 12:58 PM

I don't know, but with this pace the new album is coming probably sooner than anybody expects.
Though all that happy light-hearted pop from her now...
I know she said in that WOWOW documentary not long ago that she wants to do songs for making people happy and feeling good for the upcoming album, but I need to get used to it. It's not bad though.

mizuki-7 24th March 2013 01:26 PM

The fact is Namie is under vision factory management ! Avex has nothing to do with time between each release !

Delicious n Bold 24th March 2013 04:33 PM

Didn't she say that she wants to retire soon or something?
They're squeezing out every last bit of music, although the latest ones aren't even worth it.

jiarongisme 24th March 2013 05:26 PM

^ I think that was taken out of context. From the past interviews during the 20th anniversary promo, she said things that are along the lines of "I may retire soon, or later, who knows" I believe.

jiarongisme 12th April 2013 03:53 PM

Was looking forward to having my dreams come true. But then this happened. I'm so disappointed right now. :( I have a feeling it's due to bad ticket sales. After all, plenty of seats are available for all the sections except the cheapest.

chocopockymaster 12th April 2013 04:29 PM

^ what size venue was she supposed to be performing in? I'm assuming it's an arena of sorts, but do you know how many people it seats?

jiarongisme 12th April 2013 04:33 PM

^ Seats about 12,000 people. But that's when it's at full capacity. Usually with concerts it's about 8,000. But the ticket sales were really expensive for the general public to buy I guess. Only the die hard fans - who could afford it I might add - would buy it.

The cheapest seats were going for US$136. And the most expensive one which I bought (along with a few others here in AHS) costed about US$230.

Thats not super bad. i went see LG this year and the top Premium seats were over $400CAD. I think i paid close to $200 & got near the back of the main floor. Also $200 is also about what i paid to go see 2ne1 in Newark last year. Personally i'd gladly fork over $230 to go see Namie live in concert. :heart

Just asking but are concert tickets usually cheaper in Singapore? For us $200 is pretty average for front seats. Then more popular singers like LG or Rihanna go even higher.

jiarongisme 12th April 2013 06:43 PM

Pretty sure the Namie fanbase here in Singapore is pretty sizeable, easily more than 8,000. But the amount of people who are willing to pay that amount, not so much.

Typical concert ticket prices would range from S$48 to S$500ish depending on the event, artist, etc. Lady Gaga's concert here had the same price range as the Namie one, but of course, it's Lady Gaga, people would go for that. As for the S$500ish one, I know there was this once the Jonas Brothers came and the most expensive one was S$500+ but no one bought it. But the rest of categories were sold out so the concert went on. But on average, front row seats would cost maybe S$218.

I think for the Namie concert, it would also require the general public and casual fans to go for the concert since there aren't a lot of die hard fans who are willing to pay/could afford the tickets. And I'm pretty sure the general public/casual fans wouldn't want to pay over S$200 for seats on the stands/at the back.

ILoveGeniuses 12th April 2013 07:04 PM

I will admit too that i'd be super hyper if Namie, Kuu or Ayu came here for a concert. I just dont have the funds to fly over and do stuff in Japan. Actually Im getting close to being able to afford the very basics of the trip (airfare, meals & hotel) but i wouldnt wanna go without any loose spending money. Im hoping to have enough by next year. However i do know if Namie came here this year i'd end up blowing a chunk of that saved funds just for the best seats possible along with several goods at the venue. :heart

So i guess for myself i'd merely jump as a once in a lifetime chance.

pommy48 12th April 2013 07:16 PM

Holy crap...those tickets are expensive! I remember the front row seats at the Taipei arena were around $150 X_X

Kyary's meet and greet tickets were only $100bucks here in NY

Namie's tickets are super expensive!

GREENsora 13th April 2013 12:20 AM

The starting price for those tickets are WAYYY to expensive. I bought some Justin Timberlake floor seats for $275 per ticket, and they started around $60 something, but having tickets start around $130 is just the worse money-making route ever -__-; I'm surprised they didn't change venues?! I know for one of Gaga's shows, they had to change the venue due to low ticket sales :/

ILoveGeniuses 13th April 2013 12:42 AM

I saw B'z at the Sound Academy in Toronto, ON back in September for about $75CAD. However the Sound Academy is a rather small venue. Its actually more closer to being a night club type of place. Still the show was awesome. I was surprised how cheap the tickets were, but heck, Im not complaining. ^_^

I guess overall i dont complain too much cuz i'm used to buying expensive tickets. i hate being so far back u cant see much at all. plus partly just cuz i get so excited... like a child getting a large piece of candy. Only quote i can think of to describe it is when Fry says "Shut up and Take My Money!" LOL and i think if i had chance to see Namie live i'd act the same way. ^_~

owlflight 13th April 2013 01:29 AM

Yea... I've never paid that much for tickets but I feel sorry for those who were looking forward to seeing Namie. Any chance of rescheduling?

jiarongisme 13th April 2013 03:44 AM

^ I doubt it. :(

I remember when MISIA came and it was a smaller venue. I think it was 3,500 to 5,000 seats. Not sure. Because the artist had a choice of using half, 3-quarters, or the whole hall. And I doubt she used the whole hall though, which seated 8,000 people. But I think at the same time, the tickets weren't really expensive.
