NEW SONGS CONFIRMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, apparantly. Lana did wrote two new songs which will feature in Tim Burton's movie "Big Eyes." The movie will be released at Christmas. |
Plus there's a chance those song will be nominated in the academy award! I hope there's no shitty boycott again, still can't let it go that young and beautiful got penalties.
|
AWESOME Lana del Rey news!!!!!. The two songs are released on YouTube. I really hope, like Refix said, that there is a chance these songs will get nominated. Lana wrote these songs for the upcoming movie "Big Eyes" directed by Tim Burton. The movie will release this Christmas.
Big Eyes I Can Fly Assuming Burton will strike again with some 'creepy' movie, I really like the eerie vibe from both songs, though "I Can Fly" is my favourite. This makes me even excited for the movie. I am really curious how the sound will connect with the movie. There are also rumors that she will release a new album in August 2015. I do not know how accurate these rumors are, but she confirmed in an interview to have recorded ten new songs already. The songs are great news already. So hear it and love it :) |
The big eyes movie is not creepy at all. It's a true life story of a painter woman in 50s or 60s who painted portraits of big-eyed people (like the ones in tsoe audio vids) and how females were viewed in the time. You can already find trailers on youtube. I think the songs lyricly connect to the movie storyline.
I am no fan of Lana, since i think some of her stuff is grand in arrangements but lyrics ruin everything for me. But these two are really nice. |
I love I Can Fly more than Big Eyes. Again Lana doesn't disappoint me! :) I love her! <3

"Failing to impress was songstress Lana Del Rey, who wore a vintage Travilla dress, vintage shoes, a Ferragamo clutch, and XIV Karats diamonds. The 29-year-old, who loves to experiment with her style, has been compared to Elvis' ex-wife, Priscilla Presley, and some even hailed her a 'Seventies mermaid'. The turquoise gown did nothing to complement the pregnant star's porcelain skin and the ruched waistline was far from flattering." Credits: DailyMail Too bad her song didn't make it to Golden Globes. And yes, although I love her so much, sometimes her fashion just... And pregnant? Wait. What? http://cdn.teen.com/wp-content/uploa...what-funny.gif |
She looked absolutely hideous at the Globes, srynotsry
|
that old style make up though. Holy crap. My grandmothers both did their make up like that. Straight out of the 50s.
I like the dress. Def not that flattering though. New songs are ok. Not my thing. |
I think it is the whole purpose to look like an old-fashioned Hollywood-star, but I wish she toned down her make up a little. Not her best look, but it is not hideous either.
But wtf? Pregnant? |
The pregnant thingy turn out to be just a rumours made by some gossip site called mediamass which make media criticism through satire. Mmm... correct me wrong, Ayu also has been bashed by this media too right? Couple of months ago.
And yes, Lana always, and I proud to say ALWAYS again, never get the dress well on the red carpet. It's like she choose a dress without a help from a reputable stylist. And yes, she need to hit gym more to get toned. Everywhere is getting flabby and messy. She can look awesome if she want to, like when she appeared in GQ magz wearing white swimsuit two years ago. And I know that she only want to be recognized from her musicality, but that doesn't mean she have to neglected her appearance. She's a fucking damn icon! |
I like the retro look she has going on but yeah that dress wasn't the best.

Nah, my opinion stand still, this is good
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vItcx5CvgB...Del+Rey+GQ.png Aaanyway, her two new song for Big Eyes seems didn't make it in the Oscar. Still, surprised to see Lost Stars from Begin Again in the list. |
Sorry, I can't really compare a magazine shoot to a red carpet photo, unless we get an unphotoshopped version. It wouldn't surprise me if she was the same size back then and they just 'smoothed' it out.
|
Lana was featured on a track off Emile Haynie's new album (who was responsible for most of the production on Born to Die) and I much prefer this to anything that was on Ultraviolence. It's called 'Wait for Life' and you can listen here:
http://hypetrak.com/2015/01/emile-ha...wait-for-life/ |
You can definitely tell he's done work for Born to Die lol although I thought the song was kind of boring :/ Much better than nearly all of Ultraviolence though lol
|
Not my favourite, but still a nice song. To me it sounds like Black Beauty, one of the official unreleased songs (however Black Beauty was featured on Ultraviolence) So, nothing really refreshing.
|
Apparently she's working on a new album titled Honeymoon.
|
The Queen better serve with her new album. I was so pumped for UV, the promo singles were doing everything for me. Tbh I only listen to cruel world now.
|
The real star is that makeup. This 90's chola realness, no shame, I love it.
I'm also here for more music. |
For those who are still interested in some Lana news. She has recorded a new song for the movie "Age of Adaline", starring Blake Lively and Michiel Huisman. The song is called Life is Beautiful.
It's good, however.. the snippet does not do much for me. It sounds a bit like Bel Air meets Old Money. |
Just popping in to say that I've only ever heard one song of hers: Gods and Monsters. And that's because Jessica Lange covered it on American Horror Story.
...I just Jessica's version much better. lol |
I must say that I am not too crazy about Gods and Monsters. But she got some masterpieces also you might have heard from. Like Young & Beautiful (recorded for the Great Gatsby) and people are also familair with Ride, Summertime Sadness, Blue Jeans and Born To Die. I think not a lot of people love Lana instantly, but the music needs to grow on you.
I can remember I started to love Lana when I saw the video for National Anthem, I thought she was really cool and I loved the style (references to JFK and Marilyn Monroe. My goodness, that girl was clever) So yea, I think I love Lana for her style and not necessarily for the music (even though she has really great gems) Give her a shot, don't stuck at Gods and Monsters ;) |
Lana Del Rey is my Jesus.
|
Lana Del Rey's music is incredibly tough to get into if you're not into the type of music she does. But my first song was Born to Die and I just loved everything about that song and its music video. But Born to Die is the easier album to digest. Paradise and Ultraviolence are a little harder to digest if you're just getting into her music, especially the latter album.
|
Lana officially released the title-track of her upcoming album, Honeymoon.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPU8XJcA__k |
Not bad! Looking forward to the new album :heart
|
Not impressed.
|
She's been teasing us with snippets on instagram with video.... Its exactly what I expected from hearing those. Its pretty depressing, more of a grower, but after listening to it a few times already, I'm pretty much in love with it.
|
I love the instrumental it has something grand and epic about it the lyrics are nice too, but I hope the whole album won't be as "sad" as ultraviolence again and have some "sassy-sounding" songs like off to the races in it.
Edit: I'm glad she is even in the business still considering she wanted to quit after the first album as "she had already said what she wanted to say and told all the stories she wanted to tell" (sounds familiar lol) |
^Yeah that was BS. Four releases in four years. Not that I'm complaining.
She performed a few of the new songs live and they definitely sound more BTD than anything. Sans the title track... I still love it though. I've always liked Lana's noir tracks. Kicks in the synesthesia. |
Very pretty song but extremely underwhelming. I wasn't a big fan of the psychedelic rock thing she had going on for Ultraviolence so this is a nice change. Hope the new album has more of a Born to Die sound to it. I need another Dark Paradise.
|
I think Ultraviolence is her masterpiece, the record flows beautifully.
|
Don't get me wrong, it's a very beautiful record haha. It's just a little too slow and somber for me.
|
Quote:
I loved both BTD and Ultraviolence though, so as long as she delivers with the album I'll be happy haha |

I was in Paris when the album was being promoted. It was cool seeing her face all through the metro. |
Honeymoon wasn't BORING but it was basically the ultimate lullaby. I usually joke with my friends and say that Lana only sings lullabies (even though I legitimately liked 3-4 songs off of Ultraviolence and 1-2 off of Born To Die) but this song just shows that I'm onto something. This isn't a kids lullaby though, it's for adults. But I can seriously see her singing rock a bye baby and putting kids to sleep.
|
I like both albums but I think they give off a different vibe. But good to hear that other new songs are more born to die-ish I LIVE for that album
|
I like it. Something epic is coming up! :luv2
|
I love Honeymoon
So eerie and dreamy. Very exciting~ |
If the Catholic church would replace all those gospel songs with Lana Del Rey's music then Imma be a believer again. Honeymoon was just perfect!
|
Oh, Honeymoon. It took me a few listens to get into the melody, but now I am loving it.
I cannot wait until september. So excited to see what she has come up with. Tho I am a bit curious. Life is Beautiful, as used for the soundtrack of The Age of Adaline, is supposed (or assumed) to appear on the album as well. If so, I hope she will release type of songs like National Anthem, Ride, Off to the Races etc. so the album will actually have that Born to Die roots. I do not mind if she does not tho. Lana knows what she must do to deliver great music. |

I like Honeymoon but I think I need more of National Anthem or Lolita or Off to the races kind of songs. Lively swag beats, sexy childish vocal and so.
And I hope she get her swimsuits body back. The recent one is... unflattering. |

I've heard the same thing too, but Lana has said that Honeymoon is along the lines of being more stripped down and nior, so I don't know how much it'll be or have a similar sound to like BTD or UV. We'll see when its released? haha
|
|
The cover art for High by the Beach is amazing.
|
I'm loving the cover art for High on the Beach, I CAN'T wait!
|
Wow love it, this better be as good as honeymoon
|
That is a cover I totally live for. So excited!
|
The song released on YouTube.
I don't know why but it sound really like an British folk song, some old kingdom era or so... Not I had expected. I don't know, it's a bit boring I said. |
^ Just wait until the 10th. I looked it up, and it was not High on the Beach but A Star for Nick. Old song. A lot of pricks just upload fake stuff.
|
I see.
I never listen to her indies or unreleased so that song unfamiliar for me. Anyway, is she really gonna have a duet with The Weeknd? Expecting Love me harder episode. 2 or she got small portion on the chorus while he rap in other part. |
^ ikr their styles don't exactly mesh in my head. R&B Lana lol should be interesting. I don't think it's gonna be anything like love me harder. Lana and Ariana don't exactly sound alike and are entirely different in general. Maybe really slow eery R&B with very minimal instrumental focused on vocals.
|
She's going to be featured in this song:
I like The Weeknd so I'm very interested in this :D I'm also loving the cover art for HBTB. Can't wait! |
Something wrong with the link.
^^what do you think National Anthem song genre? A bit rnb hip hop, so I think the collaboration will works fine. A bit enough with hippies stunt she pulled on Cherry Wine, she should try another genre. |
^Whoops! Fixed the link ;)
High On The Beach sounds fantastic as well! Finally something upbeat! Looking forward to it edit: just heard the full song. It's so so so good! The bridge = <3 |
For those who haven't listened to High by the Beach yet: http://highbytheleaks.tumblr.com/post/126146527161
|
I'm dying at that tumblr name
But the link already doesn't work Queen's team is already on the case |
Picture from her Instagram account. Virgin Road realness :heart
Spoiler:
|
Only Lana looks more fierce!
|
Queen of being high by the beach with a gun
|
holy shiat that gun is creepy AF she better slaughter some people down with that in the video
|
Just listened to HBTB, it's pretty cool, at least there's a beat in there. The chorus pretty neat, yet I highly doubt this song gonna be play on my local radio station due the explicit contents lol
Lana songs rarely played in here. How disappointing. |
The only time I heard Lana on the radio was when they were playing that remix of Summertime Sadness.
|
My soul has left my body. |
God, it is so good. The music is so sexy.
|
Love it. Love both new songs. Really excited~
|
Love it!!
So where's Honeymoon? Didn't it leak? Can't find it on lana's official channel. |
^^^ THAT FUCKING ANIMATED COVER OMG
It's making me wonder if I'm high ...or is that the point http://images.memecastle.com/1/1152cc3a2754a2d.jpg |
I'll probably dig the song when I'm high but for now I like it.
|
PV is out
|
^ god, she is perfect.
|
Love the song, love the video! Even though I wish the helicopter part at the end was a bit longer and less cheap? :laugh But it was still awesome.
|
Definitely fits my mood on blowing something up! I love this song
|
When I uploaded it on AHS I was not able to watch the full video yet.
I have seen it now, and it is wonderful. I hope she will do a story through the videos for Honeymoon that will result in a Virgin Road-ish, or at least Bonnie & Clyde story. I am so excited for September! God, I am living for this stuff |
High by the Beach is fabulous! I really loved it. :heart Also, I got some Once Upon A Time in Mexico vibes from this PV. I really like that movie. :heart

The only thing I ever heard on the radio was that remix of Summertime Sadness.
|
Lana face when she blow up that paparazzi chopper, FIERCE!! LOVE IT!!
And when her robe snagged and she use all her might to pull it, I thought 'poor beautiful robe'. Kinda funny though. And I think using a fictional Alien movie gun was kinda lame, it's pretty obvious the size of the gun didn't match with that guitar case. She should carry a AT4 launcher or RPG 7 AT, now THAT'S a pure WHAMMO. This makes me wonder if Lana is getting on the nerve about paparazzi stalking her or is this about her latest love life with that fashion photographer? I thought radio stations in my country is the only one who 'reject' Lana's songs. It's kinda ridiculous though, when other artist could be more explicit in the lyrics (if that the main problem why Lana's song rarely updated and played) mix with tacky music. |
I'm not really fond of the new song, which is surprising :/

Originally HBTB debuted at #7 but due to a margin of error it actually debuted at #51 and the meltdowns are too much.
|
^ I cried blood after reading this, was so happy that High by the Beach was a "hit" :no
|
Quote:
|
Lana never was and never tried to be a charting queen in the US. I don't understand fan reaction. SS remix was an accident of a hit that she didn't even exploit... She doesn't care.
|
#51, yikes. It's like the end of Lana's era. I thought whenever she drop a single, it will always on top 10 billboards. Wonder why...
|
Even though Lana wasn't actually high by the beach, HBTB will be forever iconic with that billboard failure. A "reverse warholian experience" tea. Everything lana touches turns iconic.

lol I don't think Lana gives two shits about her singles considering Ultraviolence was #1 on the Billboard Album Charts.
|
^ I think it's normal for die-hard fans to have a strong reaction regarding sales of their beloved artist :D especially from what I've read that LDR's fandom is quite fanatic.
I loved the song. Having high hopes for the Honeymoon album!! |
Well lets be honest. HBTB was announched out of the blue and had not had promotion at all. Lana's fanclub is very dedicated so her albums will sell eventually. Besides I have never seen one of her singles in a music store. Hopefully the album will be received much better. I am having high hopes. So happy with both Honeymoon and HBTB!
|
She is pretty popular in Germany though. Summertime Sadness, Blue Jean, Born to Die, Dark Paradise and Ride were all on the Radio and Music TV. Ride, Young & Beautiful and West Coast too.
|
It's been a while I liked a Lana song so much. HBTB is really refreshing yet still so Lana <3
|
|
HBTB is the kind of song you should play when the cocaine is wearing out
