OMG, she almost hit #1! This is my favorite single so far from her.

She will also release her Budokan concert in December.

Yoake 19th October 2017 09:17 AM

Finally, Hana no Uta is good. I like how the song starts with Aimer's sound and Kajiura's sound merge with it progressively. I won't say it's the best song of the single but my view changed a lot compared to the time I listened to the preview.
It's a good thing that Kajiura works with other artists. It might inspire her own sound which didn't evolve much during the past years.

mellody 20th October 2017 11:02 AM

I personally agree as well! I like Hana no Uta a lot (as well as ONE) and this is my favorite single from her so far.

Aimer surely is one of the most talented singer in recent years. In 6 years, she managed to work with 3 notable anime music composers: Sawano Hiroyuki, Yoko Kanno, Yuki Kajiura. Not to mention other popular lead vocalist band like Noda Yojiro of RADWIMPS and Taka's ONE OK ROCK.

Curious what she will do in the future.

Surreal17 2nd November 2017 09:00 PM

Total sales for ONE / Hana no Uta / Rokutousei no Yoru Magic Blue ver. : 38,928 copies (3 weeks, still charting)

Also, she will release a new single in February 2018 entitled Ref:rain which will serve as the ED theme for TV anime Koi wa Ameagari no You ni.

Classic Aimer's ballad but quite nice.

The covers are just amazing. One of her best photoshoots. ♥

Surreal17 26th January 2018 07:41 PM

Exactly, such beautiful covers. And Ref:rain is a nice song, that chorus is stuck in my head. It seems that there is an overall "rain" theme. I'm curious about the new version of After Rain. Such an underrated song.

Surreal17 21st February 2018 02:18 PM

The new single is out!

mellody 23rd February 2018 05:50 PM

When the song is about to hit the chorus, I think of Maki Goto's YOU for some reason, but anyway, I like Ref:rain, such a great song after ONE and Hana no Uta.

Mabayui Bakari sounds meh from the preview, but the full song is actually much better, it keeps progressing and it's such a pleasant surprise, knowing it's composed by Cocco.

The scarlet version of After Rain is even better than the original one, it gives more dynamics and layers, and somehow, can stand of its own. Can't wait for the live performance of this Scarlet version.

Raining sounds like YUI song tbh, I can imagine her singing it. This one also a pleasant surprise, it keeps progressing and the composition actually didn't generic as the song keeps going.

I LOVE THIS NEW SINGLE AND CAN'T WAIT THE FULL PV OF REF:RAIN.

Surreal17 23rd February 2018 06:14 PM

I feel that Ref:rain should have been a bit shorter. In this song, you can really feel how much her voice has evolved. It feels more mature and powerful.

My favourite song from the single must be Mabayui Bakari. That synth break is really interesting.

After Rain ~Scarlet Ver.~ has a more powerful instrumental than the original, but I still like the original way more. I think it has to do with her voice mostly. It didn't felt as convincing as on the original. But still a good remake.

I really like the guitar in Raining, this song is also one of my faves.

Yoake 4th March 2018 01:13 PM

Ref:rain is my favourite of the single. It's simple song among her discography but it's effective.

Mabayui Bakari is certainly the most original song of the single. Unfortunately, I'm not fond of the progression and the melody. Sometime I feel like it's a hotchpotch of sounds.

I jump in the After Rain -Scarlet ver.- team. The original version was very dull. This new version is warmer and convey the message of the song in a better way.

I don't know the original Raining. It's a nice song and it might grow on me after some listening.

Surreal17 4th April 2018 10:45 AM

She has quite big numbers and I'm really surprised about Kataomoi and Akane Sasu.

Surreal17 20th June 2018 01:40 PM

Aimer is going to release a new single in September! Omoide wa Kirei de is one of the b-sides.

Not something interesting but the mv is cute.

Yoake 20th June 2018 08:33 PM

a cheerful about family's memory, cute indeed.
The second isn't outstanding but it's good.

mellody 21st June 2018 06:07 AM

Well, I'm one of the followers in Spotify :yes

Kataomoi is very popular indeed, not sure because of the lyrics or the melody itself, but in the end it has a PV.

That new song is for Father's day thing, it's simple yet effective.
I was afraid that song would become an A-side, turns out it doesn't.

The song "Black Bird" is used as the theme for the upcoming film Kasane.

Yoake 8th July 2018 09:04 PM

Nice to get more info about it.
I like the concept of the covers but I don't like the realisation. It looks like it was made by a beginner in Photoshop.

Surreal17 8th July 2018 09:24 PM

I really like the covers. Her team is always so creative when it comes to visual stuff , especially with covers. I also noticed that there's something off about the execution but I prefer it like this than having boring covers.

Black Bird preview

From the preview, the song is nothing special but hopefully the full thing sounds better. I'm curious about Tiny Dancers. Interesting how the previous single had a rain theme among the songs and this one has the theme of memories.

Yoake 9th July 2018 06:35 PM

I can't have a view about the preview because they talked too much too loud for me.

AyuGAME 15th July 2018 12:33 AM

I think I'm gonna liking the song. Another power ballad.

Surreal17 31st August 2018 02:34 PM

Black bird mv

I quite like the song, even if it is nothing new for her. Curious about the rest of the songs.

mellody 3rd September 2018 08:14 PM

Actually, this is quite new for Aimer. Perhaps there's some similarity which lies in the arrangement from the previous Ref:rain and some daydream album tracks (Stars in the rain?), but this is actually quite new because it has more symphonic side and yet aggressive guitar riffs at the certain part of the song, not to mention the jumbled up composition. Judging from what I hear, this song is quite hard to sing, and I believe this is a challenging song for her as well.

Very interesting song and I'm liking the direction of her music for this era. After this single, I'm hoping Aimer will release an album next.

Surreal17 16th September 2018 09:48 PM

Yeah, I also like the orchestral elements and some subtle details in the arrangement (like in the second verse) but for me, Black Bird is too similar to her other popular rock-ish tracks like Brave Shine, StarRingChild and RE:I AM. I was never a fan of these tracks. I feel like they don't go to the next level, and are just safe. I feel like tracks like insane dream, Falling Alone and Last Stardust are great examples of rock done well.
As for Tiny Dancers, this is definitely ONE part II, just a more mellow one. It is ok, not a great fan of this also.
Omoide wa Kirei de has grown on me a lot, I really like the verses. It has that nostalgic, bittersweet feel to it.
The last track doesn't really bring anything new to the original, just a more orchestral feel to be in tone with the single. But I like when she brings to attention old tracks.

Also, Black Bird / Tiny Dancers / Omoide wa Kirei de sold 16,146 in its first week on Oricon.

I feel like a new album should come soon, considering she has released 4 singles since her last studio album (although Akane Sasu / everlasting snow was included on her best), especially since she's starting a hall tour entitled Aimer Hall Tour 18/19 “soleil et pluie” at the end of October.

mellody 24th September 2018 07:59 PM

But RE:I AM is such a signature song from her, not just it's an anagram of her name, but it's just perfect fit for her, at least for me.

After several listen, Black Bird becomes a bit boring for me. Tiny Dancers is just softer version of ONE and Omoide wa Kirei de is actually becoming my favorite.

I think new album should be coming soon as well, but I'm not sure Akane Sasu / everlasting snow will be included. But at this point I'm not sure either if her B-sides such as Ito and Raining will be included in the next album. Some tracks don't have similar vibe to be in the same album, such as Mabayui Bakari. Perhaps it's just me.

Surreal17 24th September 2018 09:16 PM

I don't think she will include any b-side in the new album, especially since both Raining and Ito are covers. Also, she has like 7 a-sides from the last 3 singles, so she has to make room for some new tracks. I agree, Mabayui Bakari has a different feel from the others, but I think that it works well for diversity. And hopefully she'll include it as it's my favourite from all these new singles. True, the rest of the songs have a better flow, like upbeat pop in ONE and Tiny Dancers, rock and orchestral elements in Hana no Uta and Black Bird, ballad/midtempo - Ref:rain and Omoide wa Kirei de.

mellody 1st October 2018 07:36 AM

If you didn't mention that Raining is a cover, I will never know. I've just read it that it's a cover of Cocco song of the same name. Cocco sometimes did some wonder to her songs, but Mabayui Bakari is kinda different. I prefer Raining better.

I agree with the list except Omoide wa Kirei de, but let's see. It's already 5 songs so far.

Aimer is a promising singer, she did well with so many composers, I wonder what she will do next. She has been working with well-known anime music composers like Hiroyuki Sawano, Yoko Kanno, Yuki Kajiura, and then few popular singers like Taka, Yojiro Noda, Cocco... I just want to see more works from popular artists.

Yoake 7th October 2018 03:16 PM

Black Bird single is good. There isn't any musical surprises but it stays a strong release. Black Bird is typically the song I like, Tiny Dancers is slightly different from her discography and it's my favourite of the single. Omoide is the song I like the least. So many singers have this kind of ballad...so it's nice but forgettable. Above all Aimer has so many more beautiful and original ballads.

mellody 1st November 2018 06:04 PM

I can't contain my excitement so I will just quote myself from another thread :laugh

ALSO ALSO, Aimer new single is confirmed will be released in 9th January, which is yet another theme song for Fate/stay night Heaven's Feel movie (for part II lost butterfly, to be exact) and it will be composed by Kajiura again! 2nd collaboration after Hana no Uta! :love

Welcome to the thread!

The PV for the new song I beg you is here, even though not really full at all.

I'm liking the new song way too much and the PV is basically a hint to the second trilogy movie. The effects are quite silly.

Xianghua 28th January 2019 07:53 AM

Yay!! First album release for me while being a fan! I like the contrast between the two albums.

I listened to the new single and I like I beg you the best. Not surprising as it was made for a theme song.

The remix of Polaris is nice.

TeamAyu2004 28th January 2019 09:05 PM

I fell in love with this girl back with her first album, but never really kept up. Im glad ill be in japan when this album is released.

mellody 29th January 2019 02:13 AM

I guess I beg you attract more people to know her more, which is good. Also FYI, I think most people already know that I beg you is the theme song for Fate/Stay night Heaven's Feel part II and it's actually written by Yuki Kajiura, the mastermind behind Kalafina (which only left 1 member now) who is also the composer for the movie soundtrack. She's responsible for the previous song Hana no Uta as well.

So, if you like I beg you, you can listen to one of the soundtracks from the second movie here which has the same melody as the song. Just a small teaser though.

Aimer has done 2 songs for this planned trilogy movie installment and I thought she won't release any albums before the last trilogy, so these 2 albums came as surprise, considering she's been releasing 4 singles (3 of them are triple A-sides and there's one double A-sides single, which makes the total of 11 songs) so far.

I guess she won't be providing theme song for the final trilogy then, but yay for the new albums!

Penny Rain is seemingly inspired from Penny Lane, song from The Beatles, don't you think so?

Xianghua 21st February 2019 09:52 AM

One of the TBD tracks (track 10) from Penny Rain is April Showers and you can hear a preview of it here: http://www.earth1999.jp/cm/2019spring_cm-60s/

it is featured in a CM for the clothing store earth music & ecology

-edit- track 3 on Sun Dance is called We Two and nothing yet about tracks 6 and 8 on Penny Rain

Yoake 21st February 2019 08:43 PM

April Showers seems to be a nice ballad as she can do it. I hope there will be some surprises on the albums.

new pre-release song コイワズライ (track 5) from Sun Dance

The chorus is really nice, but overall nothing spectacular. Still enjoyable though

Also, track 8 from Penny Rain is called i-mage <in/AR>.

Yoake 17th March 2019 08:18 PM

Good song. The same level that her current releases.

Surreal17 17th March 2019 08:24 PM

Wow, it seems that i-mage <in/AR> is also available!

She's on a roll today! I only listened to it once but I like it more than the other. I'm glad that there's some variety here

mellody 18th March 2019 09:20 AM

Koiwazurai is basically another Kataomoi and it sounds better and more fun for me. Something that most Japanese fans will like, I guess.

i-mage is another collaboration with Sawano Hiroyuki and something from them is always so good!

At this point, I like Penny Rain more than Sun Dance.

Xianghua 20th March 2019 02:04 AM

So far I like Penny Rain better too.

Surreal17 29th March 2019 08:54 PM

Newbie question: are their PVs of Aimer where she is actually in the video?

Definitely can't wait for the albums. I believe it will be available this week.

There's a new track composed by TK, the same guy who did us, but I wonder which track?

As far as I remember, she's never been in the PV. Most of them are just model or actresses. Even before the release of "daydream" album, she always hides her face. The first time she shows herself to public is during the performance of Chouchou Musubi in Music Station. So yeah, before that, she always shrouded in mystery.

Yoake 5th April 2019 03:19 PM

The previews sounds good. The melodies and arrangements are quite conventional though.

Surreal17 5th April 2019 03:43 PM

mellody 5th April 2019 08:08 PM

3min sounds like a track coming from Perfume, but probably it's just me.

Also! The first track of Penny Rain "pluie" is composed by Yuki Kajiura, and she said it serves as an overture for I beg you. Definitely can't wait! :love

Also also! Aimer has been announced as guest for the 「Yuki Kajiura LIVE TOUR vol.#15 ~The Junctions of Fiction 2019~」 August 11 and 16 performances at Nakano Sun Plaza of Tokyo. If you guys here interested to Kalafina as well, I mentioned in that thread, that Keiko (finally, after missing for a year) will be back in that lives too as one of the main singers.

Surreal17 8th April 2019 08:16 PM

Seeing how more and more of her new songs have an upbeat and carefree/happy sound reminds me of how interesting her evolution has been and is. She started with a slow jazz cover album before actually debuting. Then, she adopted a mysterious image where you could only focus on her voice and music. I remember I was very curious about the reason why she didn't show her face and the level of anticipating new things from her was really high. I think that the way they handled her carreer is very good, introducing her to the general public with slow steps for a more memorable impact. Then, she started experimenting more with her music, adding rock elements and a more ethereal vibe to her songs. Her Live at anywhere concerts really felt like a great opportunity to connect with her fans on a more intimate level, while slowly creating a more colourful and interactive world. From DAWN onwards she really took off, which was really exciting to see, especially as I've followed her since 2011. With daydream you could already see her attaining some kind of mainstream relevance. The new albums are a new step in her journey, I think that she'll do even better sales wise (hopefully). Too bad that there is not too much new material, but at least we get two albums

Xianghua 11th April 2019 03:40 AM

3min is Perfume-esque sounding!
I really like We Two as well as the art style.

Stand By You MV

Surreal17 11th April 2019 07:59 PM

Stand by you is my favourite new song from Penny Rain!!

Also, she debuted yesterday at #2 (Penny Rain), respectively at #3 (Sun Dance) with 20k each, and today she's at #1 and #2 with around #6k each. So she sold approx. 52k combined in 2 days, as I see that the albums are counted as parts of the same studio album.

mellody 11th April 2019 10:07 PM

DAWN is actually her turning point from the "dark", as you can see all the albums before dawn are night-themed (Sleepless Nights, Midnight Sun, After Dark...) and after the Dawn, she's in the wilderness for daydream. For those who bought DAWN, there's a small note under the CD case "After the darkest breakdown, finally I reach the dawn" which marks her turning point and she's finally showing herself to the public. It's either her management handled her very well or she always offers a conceptual stuff, but in the end, she's just very interesting.

Aimer is not slowing down. Another release is coming. New digital single "STAND-ALONE" for drama series. Promotional images under the cut.

Yoake 12th April 2019 10:22 AM

Already?

Well, the concept behind her career is interesting but musically I think that she is going into the generic world more and more. As if to enter into the light means that she has to fit what the large audience buys.
Sun Dance and Penny Rain are good albums but none of the tracks really stands out. They're similar to what she released since Daydream era and they're similar to rock anime songs a lot.
Usually I'm more into her dark sad songs but here I prefer Sun Dance than Penny Rain. Monochrome Syndrome is my favourite songs among the new tracks.

mellody 14th April 2019 09:04 PM

I'm kinda agree with that, only a few ones are solid for me. Tracks made by other popular composer like Hana no Uta, I beg you, and i-mage killed me. Ah, including Ref:rain, but that one is composed by the composer who composed most tracks in Sun Dance.

Anyway, the new preview for STAND-ALONE.

I'm definitely not feeling it.

The preview isn't bad. It seems that the instrumentation'll be interesting and different from what she did. Even if it's not new in the music world of course.

Short version of Torches'pv and preview of all the other songs on the single.

Not a fan of the pv. I think they failed to create a video with great shots. :/

Earth_maiden 29th July 2019 07:48 PM

The single sounds great! I find her voice so grounding and calming.

Announced today that the tour title is Aimer LIVE TOUR 19/20 “rouge de bleu”

For the cities with 2-day performances, they alternate with one day ~bleu de rouge~ and the next day ~rouge de bleu~.
So I'm guessing there will be 2 setlists?

Yoake 18th August 2019 11:52 AM

Blind to you is my favourite song of this single. It's so soothing in spite of the lyrics. I really like the contrast between the meaning and the music. Daisy sounds a bit of place in Torches. It's not my cup of tea.

TeamAyu2004 8th September 2019 09:40 AM

Ohhhh. I would love to go to one of her lives. Tokyo, 2020. Hmmmm.

mellody 23rd September 2019 11:55 PM

Yet another new stuff from Aimer again!

Aimer Releases Theme Song "marie" For upcoming "Habsburg exhibition" held at the National Museum of Western Art.

The song "marie" is created in the imagination of Marie Antoinette.

Interestingly, "marie" is an anagram for Aimer again, the previous one was RE:I AM.

EDIT:
Longer version is available.

Xianghua 28th October 2019 01:08 PM

They've released the rouge de bleu goods

I've come back from Aimer's show. Since I'm still a casual listener I didn't know what to expect. She seemed very sweet and personable during the MCs. She explained the meaning of the tour name rouge de bleu as red is to symbolize the day and blue the night. The first half of the show portrayed the daytime and second half the night.

She also talked about how about eight years ago was the start of her career and was a difficult time for her, but she thanked everyone and was grateful for their support.

It was also a cute moment when she went to introduce the next song: "The next song is....oh, let me check." and then she ran by the band to check the list :laugh

Yoake 9th February 2020 05:38 PM

^So cute her reaction when she forgot the next song. XD Nice that you enjoyed the show.

It seems to be a good single without outstanding songs. Not really fond of the new version of hana no uta. The cover is like a spring version Akane Sasu / Everlasting Snow's covers.

adantatu2 10th February 2020 04:07 AM

Is Yuki Kajiura the composer ?
It sounds very Kalafina-ish

TeamAyu2004 10th February 2020 06:52 AM

I love Aimer so much and it makes me sad that my kids have no clue who she is.
(I teach JHS in japan, haha)

All the songs for Fate/stay night Heaven's Feel movie composed by Kajiura.

Yes, it sounds very Kalafina-ish and somehow similar to Hana no Uta.

adantatu2 17th February 2020 03:37 AM

I love it <3

Xianghua 8th November 2020 02:11 PM
