MV Plot: It's about lesbian partners who have been together for 30 years. One of them one day has to go to the hospital and the other one cannot sign a consent form because she's not considered family. The medical staff keeps asking her "what is the relationship between you and the patient?", and she can only answer "good friends". So she has some kind of fantasy where she sees them younger and getting married (the young version of their couple being played by Jolin and Ruby Lin).

That was so amazing. Everything was just perfect. I was so entranced by it that I felt too short for me. I cried as soon as it started.

Actually pretty simple, but it works so well... and I didn't even notice that it's 4 minutes long.

The nurse asked if she was a relative of the patient. The lady said yes and the nurse asks what's their relationship...

The younger doctor asked her to sign the surgery consent forms. He asks what is their relationship. She said "we are friends. I've been with her for 30 years. I'm the closest person to her." The doctor said it's best for a relative to sign it if she still have relatives. The lady pleads with him. The doctor said he can't make the decision due to hospital policies.
The lady finds her partner's relative.

The end cuts back to the beginning and she answered with "she was my wife".

If you don't really understand the MV, the song is about the duality existing in every human being.
Here the dancer is embracing his feminine side (described as "his inner/true self") and Jolin her masculine side. She put on a suit and they thickened her eyebrows a bit lol
Jolin wanted to break down the stereotypes related to each gender in this.

Jolin dressed up as Elsa and singing Let It Go in English :heart

Jolin stated that it would be released in January but did not say when. I assumed that it would be early January since Namie's official site said end of December but obviously I was wrong lol
Since usually after an upbeat song they release a ballad MV, I think that the next MV will be for a ballad and then we'll get I'm Not Yours.

Anyway, I really liked that MV, but to me it doesn't fit the 1st description that Linao made :
Reading this, the video of "It's Raining Men" came to my mind, with dance auditions, etc. But in the end, a lot of elements in the synopsis is full of heavy insinuations. And then, we see Jolin dressed as a man "sort of" only a few seconds at the end. I think it would have been interesting te see the guy and Jolin dance together, the man as the female and vice-versa.
But I admit that the dance in the dark with the projections on each other's body is very beautiful and aesthetical.

Well, to be honest I didn't post every detail I read in the article. I guess I should have mentioned in the description that his inner/true self in this MV was him embracing his feminine side.
And Jolin was showing her masculine side, that's why she's wearing a suit and has thicker eyebrows.
She wanted to break down stereotypes linked to gender with this MV.

I think it's better that the focus is mainly on the guy because men/boys are way more stigmatised than women/girls when they like something considered "girly" or not very manly.
Like yesterday for instance Jolin posted a link to an article on her Facebook related to this (with a "be yourself / who you want to be" message) about a 12 y-o Californian kid who killed himself because he was mocked as he was part of a cheerleader team.
It reminded me of this kid who attempted suicide since his schoolmates were mocking him because he liked My Little Pony (the animation series).

I didn't want to say your description was totally OT, but it was (to me) a little too detailed regarding what really happens in the MV (we indeed understand it's an audition with the poster of Jolin at the beginning, but it's not clear the boy has a "hidden side" : we see him dancing with pantyhoses and suspenders from the very beginning, and finally we don't understand that Jolin is actually judging him till the very end.)
But it's just my personal feeling. I quite understand the concept of this MV and I 100% agree with it.

Oh! I totally agree. When I saw the MV I thought the same thing. The story's description was quite detailed in articles and in the MV he strips as soon as he gets in the room lol

By the way, am I the only one who feels that several MVs from PLAY convey more serious messages than usual?

I recently downloaded Play from iTunes and it's the first Jolin album I've ever purchased. I had intended to look into getting one of her albums years ago but I think I was too lazy to sign up to YesAsia lol.

Usually repackages are released a month after the original release of the album, but once Jolin released a repackage 2 months and a half later (Myself's repackage "Myself 4D" with 2 CDs and 2 DVDs).
I think they're waiting for all MVs to be released or for I'm Not Yours MV to be released to release it. Asian fans are indeed really looking forward to the MV with Namie...

I wasn't including Western fans/casual listeners when I said this... I meant Asian fans/casual listeners. Like I said in my previous post, from what I've seen and read it's the song they like the least from PLAY.

I found out today that actually the pic posted by Jolin was just showing a special version of PLAY for China... So there's just the CD in it, nothing else. Basically people could have it by participating in an event on Head & Shoulders' Weibo.
