Oh cool, now I know that I won't be watching her performance. This is probably my least favourite Ayu's song. I tried to like it but it didn't happen. I really did.

Coelacanth 22nd September 2015 11:00 PM

Hating "A song is born" = blasphemy

While the embellished POM arrangement is absolutely gorgeous, TK's original arrangement shows a kind of restraint which suits the song much better. I always lose it at the second chorus, when it's only Ayu + synth.

All of my japanese friends either don't care for them or don't like them, because of all the old men following them. They like their idol groups like Momusu or Momoiro Clover Z and so on but AKB? Concidering AKB that important and giving them 3 songs to sing is like shitting on J-Pop and the japanese music scene as a whole.

I think AKB is a disgrace to J-Pop. Their influence just destroys the whole thing to me. And that they have three songs in the setlist just annoys me and makes me hope that this group will eventually destroy themselves somehow so it will end. I know this sounds cruel but I seriously don't understand why they deserve this success with their awful music. -.-

brener 23rd September 2015 01:10 AM

I wonder if she chose this song thinking about all those refugees from Syria Civil War being hostilized all over the world, specially in European boundaries..

Anyway, I loved it :)

they're what's mainstream in Japan nowadays, in every country we have those genres that's having its moment, selling zillions and taking crowds to concerts, and that doesn't mean it's high quality work, but it's commercial, so that's why they're this huge, also, there's a lot of cultural matters behind their success that we foreigners probably won't understand. Here in Brazil we have "sertanejo", a genre somewhere in the middle of country and pop music that moves millions of money every year, a lot of people hate it, but if I turn the radio on, those sertanejo acts will be playing nearly in every station and in the weekends they're on every TV channel performing. Thing is, the big majority of the country loves it and it makes money, everyone has your own AKB48 in your corner of the world.

se7entheaven 23rd September 2015 01:50 AM

Don't worry about her vocal coz she will probably cry non stop after the second verse and that's it.

brener 23rd September 2015 01:52 AM

when we'll be getting the video recording?

Dem0nical 23rd September 2015 03:15 AM

I was hoping for microphone.... Show them who's queen!

Bigtop 23rd September 2015 03:26 AM

I'm surprised - and disappointed - 'A Song is born' is going to be played. WHY NO NEW AYU MUSIC???

And Tetsuya Komuro? WHAT??? Didn't we have all those negative reactions with Ayu and Tetsuya Komuro together (GLOBE 20th anniversary) back on a-nation last month???

Even Arashi's doing three songs. But yeah, this is one of those reasons why today's 'high-end' J-pop scene is so BS that I want to pay attention to lesser-known musicians like Rina Katahira.

But then again, thanks for NOT putting either Ayaka or miwa in MSUF.

The lyrics of A Song is born are so beautiful. The only ayu song that is guaranteed to almost always make me cry. I would love if she wrote more songs about the world in that way.

It's also just a beautiful song.

Sometimes I think Ayu doesn't give a .... anymore! But if it means a performance of A Song is born with her better voice then I'm down for giving it a chance :D

I am working but from time to time i check what's going on and in those moments people were performing lipsynching ^^ I suppose that Ayu will sing live so no matter how she sings she will sound worse. I am keeping my fingers crossed still and anticipating her very much! It's actually funny because i remember that when i was starting my adventure with jpop i read quite a few times how it's shameful to sing from playback in Japan and today?
Rebeca is singing song Ayu covered in Idol on stage and was listening to Raspberry dream lately xD

Oh trust me , I've been in the Johnnys fandom for a very long time & they're literally the only group that lip syncs

Even their seniors don't lip synch & SMAP no matter how vocally bad they're , they never do , they still try their best to sing live & yes ARASHI also lip sync their ballads too :irked

Why ? Cos in reality ARASHI sound bad live . When they finally sang live on FNS a while back ago , everyone was shocked just how bad they sounded . Is it any wonder why they rather lip sync ?

And the only thing they cannot lip sync/fake onstage is when Sakurai Sho raps but aside from that nope

Then again , who am I to say them ? In MUSIC STATION Ultra FES , they're the only ones that do not perform in the studio . Instead their performance was aired from Hitomebore Stadium Miyagi as today is the last day of their Arashi Blast in Miyagi tour

That said , no the order of the performers are not in sequence . Earlier on their juniors KAT-TUN , NEWS & their senior Tackey & Tsubasa taking the stage

And now it's Sandaime J Soul Brothers performing Ryusei

maxikot 23rd September 2015 11:45 AM

From what i saw during the performance one of them (talking about Arashi) sang live solo for a short moment and i had "huh?" moment ^^

Anyway, i have impression audience is filled with boysbands fangirls ^^
News blond guy sounds horrifying :x

KarenPang 23rd September 2015 11:52 AM

To me I do not mind if you sing live but if you sound bad . That shows at least you're not lip synching

What's the point in lip synching in every single song ? I can understand if you have to lip synch a fast paced song with complex dance moves but to lip synch even ballads is inexcusable

Is it any wonder why I don't even bother to watch ARASHI's 'live' performances on TV anymore ? That really turns me off and likewise for their tours where they lip synch every single song from start until finish

I don't know why fans bother to pay up to 10 million Yen from the black market to watch them 'perform' in their concerts . I rather listen to their CD if that's the case :o

I might sound as though I'm anti ARASHI but in reality I really like their songs a lot . It's just that it's pretty dumb that they're given 'special treatment' to lip synch their material 'live' on TV , even their juniors and seniors don't have that privilege to enjoy

Uknow! 23rd September 2015 11:53 AM

^^ The blond guy is Yuya... He didn't sound that bad lol

No playback for all Johnnys except Arashi, that's normal...

Tegoshi Yuya is 1 of the best singers in NEWS if not in Johnnys , hands down

He can nail a solo without flinching even though in recent times he don't look so good unlike in the past :x

Right now :

- AKB48
- KinKi Kids
- V6
- TOKIO

L'Arc~en~Ciel performing HONEY next after the Johnnys seniors

maxikot 23rd September 2015 12:29 PM

I have no idea who is this guy performing after Smap and before Ayu but he is amazing.

It's Fukuyama Masaharu-san & he celebrated his 25th anniversary this year in the business which's madness as he never seems to age even though he's 46 :dead

Ayu was totally outstanding... well in the end she cried a bit but it wasn't that dramatic. Until that moment i was about to say that it is probably her best tv performance ever. Vocally great, stage was beautiful and number of dancers even though many, they were used very wisely. She is working very very hard and it's seen/heard.

Yes, but i noticed she was restraining from going emotional because she wanted to sing well. I was listening on headphones and she sounded great. On plain speakers i suppose sound was worse as it usually is, at least from my experience.

AyUmIXx 23rd September 2015 02:52 PM

she sounded so great...looked so gorgeous angelic..<333
and even though the dancers are a lot, but they acted so well according to the song..

i wonder where is Lico?

freedreamer 23rd September 2015 02:56 PM

whoa her verses are PERFECT!!! the ending notes in the chorus are kinda pitchy but given all the emotions, its understandable. The song itself conveys so much and through this live and ayu's voice, I hear that genuineness from her. It's so good!

Coelacanth 23rd September 2015 02:58 PM

excellent performance. so proud of her.

holy_arrow 23rd September 2015 03:10 PM

Yes the song is very emotional in the perfect vocal for her. So proud of Ayu too.
Her outfit is go godness and the dancers helped her make this performance gorgeous ...

Btw, her appearance in some scenes is quite old while Koda Kumi is very pretty.

Where are Licco and Emi today ?

pimenta 23rd September 2015 03:11 PM

And that's why I love a song is born so much, she puts so much emotion into that song's performances :heart

I don't like her makeup though, too much pink blush, it doesn't fit her quite well anymore...

Anna.L 23rd September 2015 03:32 PM

Her hair its too much 2006

and WHY ALL THIS DANCERS ON THE STAGE? This song ayu can hold by herself

Yoake 23rd September 2015 04:53 PM

She sounded good. Not perfect but I really enjoyed the performance. I think it's important that there were so many dancer. A song is born's message is about harmony and unity and it's stronger like this. If she brought children with her, it would even be stronger

pimenta 23rd September 2015 05:08 PM

I think the dancers were ok because they were mostly symbolic. If they were actually dancing around it would have been way to much people, but the way they performed it worked nicely imo. They weren't necessary, but not a bad addition either.

jiarongisme 23rd September 2015 05:18 PM

When I first saw images of her with the dancers on Facebook, I was like 'oh no, not again...' But it works SO WELL in here. It was a really touching performance. She sounded great too! I also really love this arrangement of the song.

xLuna&1LOVE 23rd September 2015 05:45 PM

Eh, I guess I am the only one who was not moved by this?
Though, well I gotta admit that she did well, considering the vocals from a'nation...

Ayumi Romania 23rd September 2015 06:04 PM

Very nice performance

Delicious n Bold 23rd September 2015 06:13 PM

I forgot how good the lyrics were. I liked the performance, it was really nice!
Also because that stage seemed so small it looked like she brought with her an entire small village.

Corvina 23rd September 2015 06:16 PM

The "mou ichido..." part is really screechy both times, in the middle and at the end. But the rest sounds nice.
And even though I still think those are much to much dancers, I can live with them here.

NintendoHTF1242 23rd September 2015 06:18 PM

She sounded horrible when she had to go for those higher notes. But oh my god the arrangement is SO BEAUTIFIL asdfghjkl;

ExodusUK 23rd September 2015 07:24 PM

I think she was trying to out do AKB48 by having so many people also on stage.

Coelacanth 23rd September 2015 07:24 PM

I think it's really interesting that people use "screechy" pejoratively so much at this forum. You guys do realize you listen to J-pop, right? lol

Rajma 23rd September 2015 09:03 PM

I liked it a lot <3
Anyone know what "she is wearing"?

Diego-kun 23rd September 2015 09:40 PM

It was a really nice performance. I was impressed because she sounded quite good during the whole song! The dancers were okay although I think a smaller crew would have been better.

What struck me the most is how old Ayu looked when the camera zoomed her... She also looked tired, maybe it is just because of the upcoming tour's rehearsals

Nice performance but not her best imo. She looked a bit exhausted in high notes. Anyway, I hope japanese people liked it.

Pretty good performance for a song like A Song is born. Wasn't expecting vocal perfection from it! I think it was kind of a good choice. Old classic Ayu but not an over-performed song, poignant and emotional which is what made her popular in the first place.

I kind of wish she had been in a slightly different colour to the dancers, such as a very pale blue or pink so she stood out a bit more but otherwise the dancers didn't bother me as they were relevant to the theme of the song.

To me she looks different because she didn't have eyeliner on her lower lash line. Might sound small but it can make a big difference. Also, heavier blusher than usual. She still looks beautiful, but I think that may be why she looks different.

I only thought that she strained in the choruses (the later ones were better than the first) but she was mostly ok and the verses were great.

I hope she rests well before the TA tour she rehearse and work like crazy.

It was so touching though!
