it's so funny that during last week's radio show, Mika wasn't even aware the tribute album was going to be released. She didn't even know it existed lmao. #sonymilking

But it's a nice thing, there are at least a couple of new covers to look for.

So happy they decided to release MTV Unplugged on bluray *_*

And the tour... acoustic... I'm so freaking excited. I HAVE TO GO. However it's going to be tough for me but I'll try to go for the Kanagawa show... or maybe I'll go to the other two final dates.

The way I see it , Sony BMG is finally stepping up and for once decide to market Mika more properly

And lining up with 2 different releases & her 1st acoustic tour at the beginning of 2016 is a great start , especially since Mika's 10th anniversary celebration was quite muted due to her health problems

I still think it was a big mistake for Sony BMG to put out DEARS & TEARS . These 2 releases should never been in existence in the 1st place or they should have been released this year instead to make things more meaningful

At the time of release , they were and still so pointless

I still don't quite understand why they released Dears and Tears to be quite honest. Mika probably needed to take some time off from singing and Sony thought it was going to be a good idea to release that crap of a best compilation thing :x
Oh well. I have a feeling she'll release a new album this year, probably during the second half.

I'm just freaking happy she's touring again and I'll get to see her *_*

With the excitement of the new releases, I didn't realise until I read this thread that they were more compilations lol! Although I'll let them off with the Mika Ranmaru release.

Has anyone got their copy yet and what do they think of it?

^ it's a nice release but I would skip it if you're not a hardcore fan. It would have been more interesting if there was a DVD with it or something, the audio recording isn't really doing much for me. Plus her voice sounds kinda weak at times, she's had much better moments lately IMO. No picture from the actual cover photo shoot inside, which is a bummer to be quite honest. But all in all, it's an interesting release.

I'm listening to the Mika Ranmaru bootleg right now....I really enjoy the arrangement of LIFE but dear god is she straining her vocals. I can't even enjoy it. :no

I have RELAXIN'! The poems in between the songs are pretty to listen to. The new mix of Sakurairo Mau Koro is gorgeous. The remixes are all very calm and peaceful to listen to (the highlights for me are Over Load, Yuki no Hana, and the one with a long Japanese title lol Kireri Watashi wo or something like that). Memory is also my all time favorite Mika song so having it on the complication seemed perfect. I only bought the release because it was on sale but I was pleasantly surprised. The packaging for the CD+DVD is beautiful too.

^Oooh def sounds like one to buy then. I will prob prioritise it over Mika Ranmaru.

I actually had a dream the other night where I met Mika and I got a hug and a photo. She had the blonde hair/wig like in the Ranmaru pics.

Is her contract with Sony comming to the end or something? I feel like her career is finished since tribute albums are usually released in memory of artists who finished their careers or passed away. I wouldn't mind if she took a break. It's better than getting another best/collection/cover albums.

I don't think like that, Mika is a great singer and have memorable songs like Yuki no Hana or WILL, and she has many years in the industry, so is normal for me the tribute

I suspect when DEARS & TEARS were released , those were to fulfil the last few terms in her existing contract before she renewed it with Sony

Also I don't think a tribute album means it's a bad thing . Last year when globe's tribute album was released it was to celebrate their 20th anniversary

For Mika's tribute album that will be out next week , it's to celebrate her 15th anniversary this year in the business so it's a joyous thing

idk how I feel about this the tribute album anymore based on the previews...

-Glamorous Sky: I mean....HYDE's English never did anything for me. Would have preferred that he stuck to the original lyrics.
-I like the soft jazz thing that Aimer has going on with her ORION cover
-I don't know what the hell is even happening with Ichiban kirei na watashi wo
-I'll probably listen to Chihiro Onitsuka's cover of Fighter more than I listen to the original (though I'm not a huge fan of the song in general and wish she could have covered something else)
-STARS sounds okay I guess
-LIFE started out promising but.......it's instrumental? I get that Emiri Miyamoto is a great violinist but having an instrumental interpretation in the middle of all the other covers with vocals is so jarring
-I like the sound of Koe but I don't know why I would choose to listen to this version over Mika's. It would have been amazing if like, SUPERFLY covered it
-Why does the instrumentation in Ai Kotoba sound so synthetic and overprocessed? no thanks

and some of the previews are too short to even tell what's happening in the song. idk guys, idk.

lmao @ the cover of Ichiban Kirei na Watashi wo. The beginning cracked me up, I just can't.... I'm not sure about this one but the rest seems quite nice overall.

HYDE's cover is interesting, I can't understand a word of his English so I'll pretend it's some other language that I don't know/understand.

Chihiro Onitsuka's take on Fighter is quite nice, I'm curious to listen to the full thing. STARS is ok, nothing too different but it feels nice to listen to someone else's version.

A cover of Sakurairo Maukoro by K would have been nice, I would have preferred his voice over Kousuke Atari's weird vibrato. Mika should sing over Emiri Miyamoto's version of LIFE, it's beautiful. I do agree it's kind of weird to have an instrumental cover in the middle of everything, but I guess it's nice? I think it would have made a better opening or ending to the tribute album.

I'm a bit disapointed by Mika's bff cover Kaori Mochida x CINEMA dub MONKS, it's short but I already know it's going to be annoying.

The rest was already known so I'll skip on those :p

Seriously. had this girl ever had a decent live? I thought recent performances were linked to her health-issues and flipped back through older performances but she has always looked lost on stage and it only got worse. Nowerdays she seems like she is about to vomit and die on spot. What is up with that? It takes away all the magic of her songs for me.
