I knew it was coming... I really miss the originality of the Arena Tour like a few years ago (my story tour, miss understood tour, asia tour 2008), before she starts the CDL as a big "rehearsals" for her annual tour.
So I think, GREEN and Marionette will be on the tour, of course. Hope she'll change her tracklist a bit for others songs. For the new album, I'm worried about an A BEST 3, thanks to her profil pics on facebook and twitter.... Ayu, is that an hint? |

i'm kind of hoping it's not a ballad heavy album like A ONE was, i did like the album and it did sound a bit like the old ayu but i would love more tracks like talkin' 2 myself, and GUILTY era tracks, that album was almost flawless in my opinion. Although my favorite album will always be (miss)understood. I would love another album like that one.

On 16th of February the last year cdjapan put the release info of A ONE in the web, so if the new album release date will be 8th of April like we say here, this mean that on 16th of February we will have the album info? Excited!!

^Same here, if they made quality remixes. I think for the most part, ayu-mi-x 5, 6, and 7 HOUSE were pretty bad. I can probably count on one hand the tracks I like for all three albums. :/ Ayu trance all the way...

I don't know enough about EDM, but I just don't like most of what Colours sounds like (except Lelio). After sampling some of Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike's songs, unfortunately these guys sound like the kind of things XOXO and Terminal are.
I hope the collaboration, if ever, is a one-song thing, and that it would fit cohesively with the rest of the album, the way Connected sounds connected (sorry) to the rest of I am.... |

My problem with Ayu doing songs with western big names is that they ~almost~ always sounds like they are left over from other artists. Its like Darkchild had a folder with songs that Madonna, Mariah and others overlooked and someone at avex saw Angel and said to Ayu: Here it is, your next song.
And EDM is something that it needs to be really good to feel fresh, and not outdated after two weeks of its release. Terminal is a good example of how EDM, for Ayu, should be done. XOXO and Lelio are quite outdated, with parts of the songs that feels like they are missing something (hello, the chorus of both songs is so bad). MAX's #SELFIE, which the original versiol is such an awful song, its quite a bop, and that's taking and EDM songs and making good. |

I think I read somewhere that Avex has invested in the EDM department so I assume they want to use Ayu as a "display" ? I think a lot of people are very overdramatic when it comes to responding to Ayu's music.
Like if you don't like something.. deal. It takes far less words to simply deal with it than constantly throw poo on Party Queen and Colors, haha. I can't say I've particularly enjoyed anything since probably Love Songs, but that's just how music goes. You can't like EVERYTHING an artist puts out. And she's not going anywhere, so I'm sitting tight to see what she does next. I listened to A One twice before shelving it, just as I did with Sixxxxxx. They both sounded uninspired, as did Colors. BUT: I clocked in several thousand plays of her cover of Movin on Without You. So it really depends. Terminal got me going a bit. Return Road blew my mind. Her last classical album is still kinda on rotation on my iPhone. Point is: I don't think it's worth it to constantly complain about songs you don't like. At least we have something new coming. |
ive been thinking what the western artist will probably do to ayus music style and the best way out im thinking of that is, that those songs will be more likely similar to movin on without you or many classic moments. they will be more catchier than EDM. i guess, everybody would open their arms for them if she produces songs like movin on without you. ( everybody seemed to like it than)

Ayu included winter songs on plenty of her albums. I'm 90% sure she'll include Winter diary on the new album. There's no reason not to, except for the fact that it was featured on a remix album already. But it had "Original mix" in the title, so I think that's a kind of a hint... And yeah, she's still yet to release a PV for it.

Also, My Name's Women PV was on the STEP you/is this LOVE? single, which came after My Story the album. So it's not to say that the PV for Winter Diary couldn't be on a single (if she ever does a physical single again) or the next album. |

The Blasterjaxx remix was alright, I actually enjoyed it and still do from time to time. But it gets tiring rather quickly. I think I bring it out for a hot week once a year and then forget about it. That's the problem with most EDM-based tracks today, they just don't have enough depth to promote a lasting longevity.
I died when Movin' On Without You came out. Mostly because I was expecting it to be a hot piece of shit, despising the original, but Ayu's version was full of life and color, something Utada's version was completely void of. However, I was surprised how quickly I grew out of that song as well. I initially felt "I can listen to this song everyday at the gym for the rest of my life." But, by the third day or so, I felt rather fatigued from it. On the other hand, I can rotate her rock tracks or even her older eurobeat tracks for months on end and not tire of them. I'm worried for the new track with these big room house DJ's, because Ayu's music have always been very much rooted in their ability to convey depth and emotion. Further, they've always been peppered with accents (sound effects that compliment the individual layers, like sprinkles atop the icing on the cake). Big room house is not exactly known for that. In fact, imo, it's known for the exact opposite. You could produce a big room house track by simply sounding the buttons on a fire truck engine, recording them, and then throwing a basic beat into the mix. Ayu can have fun tracks, she always has, but when she stuck with Japanese composers, arrangers and producers, they've always been, well, for the most part, entirely HER and on par with HER brand. These western artists don't understand her brand, and have no interest in understanding it, so the tracks never sound quite right with her singing them. |

I guess there's a bit of both her staff and her making these decisions, but not top-avex-corporate-people. Unless maybe in cases like this 15th anniv version of A BEST, that idea seems like it could have come from these people, but the LOVE again "fiasco" is probably on her and her staff to blame.
