This might be my favourite A-nation in the past decade, at least for sure since 2015 (I dončt fully remember the ones between 2010 and 2015). I am also relief to see that her face is still able to move (that DaD PV got me a little worried)

pedronekoi 31st August 2020 10:59 PM

I'm watching it nonstop!! It feels like the audio capture was so amazing as well. Very different from the usual livestream we had so far.

Am I the only one that HATED this introduction?? I can't even watch it without feeling cringy...

Evolution7/4 31st August 2020 11:08 PM

I loved it haha its very Monty Python. Nice to have something different from her.

truehappiness 31st August 2020 11:14 PM

The intro was basically Ayu and Japanese comedy merging. It seemed like a lot of the Japanese fans thought it was rather funny. I think it was more memorable than a generic clip show ending with the A symbol.

Nice to see a reaction video

the subtitle says Koda mentioned Ayu at the end of her set "there are a lot of ayu fans here at a-nation but thank you for supporting me"

With Kukky, his humor seems to be kind of that weird type that Japan responds well to. A lot of nonsensical images/situations that make people laugh... if it fits in with their sense of humor anyway.

Ayu seems to have called him and asked about a collaboration after seeing him on a TV show and then gave him reign to do whatever probably while also providing pictures for him to use.

To an extent I think it was ridiculing the fact that people are saying she looks old/like an aunt.

What really surprised me was he saying there was 4.6 million people streaming the concert during Ayu's set :0 Thats really impressive!

truehappiness 1st September 2020 04:05 AM

They were probably just looking at the likes/hearts which were mostly generated from SuperM just before Ayu. The Blue Stage before that was maybe at 900k hearts, it's basically like a 'cheer' on V-Live.

If the translator isn't trolling me, the overall attendance for a-nation was over 6.1M: http://www.wws-channel.com/music2/221741.html

So, that number wouldn't be impossible. Never used V-Live, but live plataforms ususlly shows how many people are watching the video at that time.

kaled kalil 1st September 2020 05:29 AM

6.1M it's probably all the views from all different stages and media services (v live, mu-mo, elta.tv for the paid stages, and for both free views on LINE and YouTube). Also, refreshing the page would mean two views, so it can be less people watching but tuning in different moments.

Does the plattaform shows how many people were watching at the time? If so, reloading the page would make no difference...

Also, the free stages obviously got a part of the total viewers, but those also are naturally the stages with the artists with the smallest fandoms

Sky High 1st September 2020 07:55 AM

This was her best a-nation performance IMO. Her voice was so good, black dress was amazing. I enjoyed every second of it.

njanjayrp 1st September 2020 09:42 AM

I would be surprised to see 4-6 million people were watching, but idk there was a free stage on YT so it could total to that however 4 million people seeing ayu...we wish.

The 6 million people total info comes from the media, but it may be wrong, as automatic translators sometimes fuck up while translating numbers. I just wish someone would have seen the numbers instead of just saying it's not possible lol

I agree, it just seems very unlikely :rolleyes far from impossible.

The automatic translation got it right. It did say 6.1M.

I’m sure a lot of kpop fans joined in. It’s not that crazy of a number

ExodusUK 1st September 2020 06:12 PM

6 million isn't a lot...there's like 4 billion people inAsia

For V-Live at least, we never got to see how many people were watching only the comments from people and 'hearts' they had given.

Looking at the link, I think they're a bit confusing in the description because that is the number they have used for the last year as cumulative for all a-nations since 2002. It's not meant to be the number for just this a-nation. I remembered that they have been publicizing that it's a summer festival that has gathered about 6 million in audience since its start though.

So over the course of the last 18 years that is where the 6.1 million comes from. It is NOT for this year's 2020 show. I don't think we'll get numbers for online a-nation, maybe not at all but if they were good enough we'll probably see it.

6.1 Million people for a live stram would be one of the biggest live streams. Even more surprising for a paid one.

That's make way more sense.

truehappiness 2nd September 2020 03:04 AM

I do think a large amount of people were watching at least, more than we think mostly from K-pop fans and from the high amount of hearts/likes for acts like Da-icE. Many were on mu-mo Live within Japan from what we saw, comments were a lot faster than on V-Live.

Andrenekoi 2nd September 2020 03:36 AM

^I wouldn't be surprised if Ayu got a significative amount of views from people who just stayed till the end because they had already paid for it.

truehappiness 2nd September 2020 03:43 AM

Eh, honestly, a lot of people had checked out after the Korean acts were done, lol. After SuperM was done, it was mostly Ayu fans that came out of the woodwork after a ton of SuperM spam.

Chibi-Chan 3rd September 2020 01:00 AM

^Even at any normal a-nation, LOTS of people leave after the big k-pop acts have finished and they don't care to stay for Ayu anymore. Would surprise me if k-pop fans would bother to stay for an online live when they even paid less and it's just a click in order to leave.

kaled kalil 3rd September 2020 02:43 AM

And since Ayu's performance was at the same time of SUPER JUNIOR, which was right after SuperM, I wouldn't be surprised if a good portion just changed to the green stage.

her voice was so good during this show! i LOVE how she sang vogue, her voice is so relaxing. I would love a rerecording of her singing it like that in an acoustic/orchestra mix <3 she also looked amazing. definitely one of her better a-nations!

Lyssayu 4th September 2020 02:09 PM

This was hands down the best performance she delivered for a LONG time!
Her voice was perfect from beginning to end, the outfits were gorgeous, and she seemed to fully enjoy being on stage!
Made me like vogue again (never been a fan of this song) - the fans choreography was everything!
YAY Ayu! Hope she keeps it up.

barisuta53 4th September 2020 04:54 PM

I'm slightly confused by Startin'. Why are the backing singers pretending to sing even though it's clearly not their vocals?

Ayu's voice sounds consistent throughout though. That's nice.

mi|kshake 4th September 2020 10:50 PM

I was amazed by Ayu's vocals - she did such a good job! Was so nice to see her do Far Away too!

I'm a bit late to the party, just wanted to say ayu impressed me once more! She hit some damn notes.

I'm sure it's not just her resting her voice. She must have prepared for her "return" taking a vocal coach once again.
Sometimes it even feel effortless like the old days. She gained so much control.

This a nation didn't disappoint at so many levels.

truehappiness 6th September 2020 11:07 PM

I think it's a combo of rest along with training of some sort. There's a good difference between this and Natsu no Trouble for instance. It's very nice to hear and I hope it continues to get better!
