And is it any wonder that the bass sounds that much louder compared to those on Kyoiku? :plot

There's a new DVD for pre-ordering? Hmm...I need some money quick.

Keishi 14th July 2006 09:58 AM

gosh I cannot believe I missed this thread LOL

I just listened to Kalk album! GOSH
it's so addictive! The fact that it has symmetrical thing is so damn interesting. Heh heh...

Btw, is Meisai/Kuki/Ishiki sounds different in single, rather than in Kalk album?

~K+ 14th July 2006 10:16 AM

Meisai is just slightly different on the single, Ishiki is again, slightly different for the most part other than a different outro.

Kuki~STEM~Daimyou asobi hen is in English on the single and has a very different arrangement.

I really want the single, but it's out of print on most online stores. D:

Keishi 14th July 2006 10:44 AM

WOW. Seriously? That is my favorite single of her :o

btw, is the cover of Kuki cut in a half?

~K+ 14th July 2006 12:46 PM

It's just the OBI covering it I think, it looks like this underneath.

http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k32305734

Keishi 15th July 2006 03:08 PM

LOL
obi covering half of frontal cd case?

Miku 15th July 2006 04:34 PM

hmm..I have only heard 1 song with her..and I like it ^^ I don't remember which song the was..

Keishi 15th July 2006 04:48 PM

A rock song or what?
I suggest if you like enka, go for the english version of Kuki.

etheruraura 21st July 2006 06:49 PM

Here's the cover for the "Just Can't Help It" DVD.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ihen_dvd05.jpg

I love it! :yes

PSYCHEDELICOdust 21st July 2006 07:31 PM

XD <3

ruixiong89 23rd July 2006 01:31 PM

LOL, the cover's typically Shiina Ringo and Tokyo Jihen! It's weird!

Ok, I'm a new fan of Shiina Ringo (thanks to interest sparked off by chriskay's signature and avatar) and I'm currently loving Ringo no Uta and Meisai. They're really good!

I wonder if anyone here can introduce me to more of Tokyo Jihen and Shiina Ringo songs, especially their instrumentals! :) Sorry, I'm more obssessed over their instrumentation as of the moment, though I have to agree Shiina Ringo packs a punch in her singing.

hallelujah_united 23rd July 2006 04:58 PM

^Not to mention incredibly sexy. :yes

I'll see what I've got to upload. Will be busy with work for the next few days though, so you might want to ask for help from others as well.

Keishi 23rd July 2006 06:16 PM

paper_doll still have the links for KSK album. You better hurry before it expired since it's YSI. If it does, I'll try to upload. Actually I have no idea bout Instrumentals, since so far I doubt Shiina has instrumentals included in her singles.

Btw what's with the increasing number of....adulterated theme in Tokyo Jihen? Lolz

hallelujah_united 24th July 2006 03:42 PM

^I think it's part of their more "adult" and "mature" image. Their music isn't exactly directed towards teeny bopper types after all.

Keishi 24th July 2006 04:33 PM

I knew. I kinda able to see that :P

Btw, Brian, no I mean Benny :P, do you have Tsumigi Asobi & Gibbs MP3?

hallelujah_united 25th July 2006 04:44 PM

^If you're referring to me, my name's Benny. :laugh

Anyway, I don't have Tsumigi Asobi (nor anything on Muzai Moratorium for that matter), but I do have Gibbs. Here

Keishi 25th July 2006 05:14 PM

Gosh, I'm sorry Ben >.< >.< >.<

editing the post now :P

and waw thanks for Gibs XD

Keishi 27th July 2006 01:56 PM

Does anyone have Tsumiki Asobi? and Mayonaka wa Jyunketsu?

Keishi 20th August 2006 08:54 AM

GIANT cover art of Just Can't Help It.
This was posted on the official site, but on the next day, it was replaced by smaller images.
ShiinaRingo.se managed to keep the big ones before it was replaced. Kudos to them :3

It's so detailed you can even see her pubic hair and part of her nipple.

Keishi 20th August 2006 10:16 AM

Pubic hair? Where xD

Btw, is that Fiona Sit on your ava? Aww, I kinda missed your panda set

D: That is so creepy. XD

Anyways, THAT GIRL IN YOUR AVATAR.. O_O;

is in a show my dad watches D: D: It's some TVB drama called 'The Academy'~

..ew so is that Ringo naked?!

Here? lol

Yeah, it's Fiona in my avatar, it's a picture from her new album. She cut her hair that short just to shoot 'The Academy' D=, but it's two years old though.

truehappiness 20th August 2006 04:28 PM

Well, instead of hair, that could always be saggy 'female parts' :<

I agree. I mean, I loved Kyoiku and it really quelled any worries I had about Ringo joining a band changing her style drastically, but then Otona (Adult) came along. I really hope that for their next album, they do something with more of her usual rock feel to it, as opposed to jazz.

EDIT: Holy crap! I just looked at the tracklist for the DVD and saw that Honnou's on it. Best Ringo song ever ^_^

Keishi 22nd August 2006 12:41 PM

Gosh, in fact, I love ADULT. Her jazz is sooo adorable and irreplaceable.

PSYCHEDELICOdust 22nd August 2006 10:43 PM

I think there's too much Kameda on Adult. I mean, I love me some Kameda, but too much of a good thing. I miss the manic sound they had.

Keishi 23rd August 2006 07:35 AM

What do you mean with too much Kameda?

PSYCHEDELICOdust 25th August 2006 01:53 AM

Quote:

Too much of his influence.

Power struggles happen a bit more there than most groups I think. HZM and Hiirama were both very respectable musicians in their own right, and with Ringo coming off her ever-so-big ego trip of KZK and Kameda with his extensive arranging influence, I'd imagine there were a few talks about styles to go in.

HZM and Hiirama seemed more manic and while Ukigumo and Izawa seem very competent, they seem a bit more complacent as well. I've grown to like Ukigumo more than Hiirama but I miss the insanity of HZM on the piano. I just hope that, while I hearted Otona, they go through a style change again after the concert. I just hope they don't get new members, I do like seeing some kind of consistancy in the group and I think if they stay in longer, their own styles will pervade through the sound of the group as well.

Evolve, but not through switching members, certainly doesn't work in this day and age. Just look at MoMusu.

Keishi 25th August 2006 02:41 AM

I don't know, but I like the group better now. Kyoiku was a bit too raw for me. I don't find that album interesting. I only like Sounan & Genjitsu duo. Others are not as catchy as ADULT's tracks. Even the new version of Ringo no Uta don't appeal much to me.

Actually, I don't mind Kameda's style. I like Utaite Myouri, mostly the Kame-pact disc. And so is ADULT.

PSYCHEDELICOdust 25th August 2006 02:53 AM

I'm much more of a fan of Kameda's DAI work. I liked HZM's manic style, and I adored the new Ringo no Uta. Especially live, was an awesome opener to Dynamite out!

hallelujah_united 25th August 2006 06:00 PM

Maybe we should start a poll about which of Ringo's styles we prefer most. :yes

For me, I really enjoyed the slightly heavier chill-out influence introduced by Kameda Seiji in Adult. Kyoiku sounded a little too raw for me just like it did for ChrisKay, and I really learnt to enjoy songs like Gunjou Biyori much more in the laid-back style it was delivered with at the Domestic Virgin Line performance in the Budokan.

Keishi 25th August 2006 06:04 PM

Yay. Finally someone with love for ADULT xD xD

I adores lots of track in that album. The only horrid tracks are Super Star, Niigata, & Unvisible Man. The rest is just irresistable & you can't even touch "NEXT" button on your iPod whenever you hear them.

PSYCHEDELICOdust 25th August 2006 09:02 PM

._.; Don't get me wrong, I really like ADULT, I just enjoy kyouiku more lolz

Wow, I thought I was the only one who didn't like Superstar. My list for my 3 least favorite tracks is almost the same as yours, except I would take out Yukiguni (my favorite on the album!) and add Tasogare Naki.

I prefer Adult over Kyouiku too, although the latter has some killer tracks, including my favorite (Sounan). :)

Keishi 26th August 2006 07:54 AM

Yay.

I cannot hate Tasogare Naki. It's too mellow, emotional,& soothing at the same time to be left out.

etheruraura 11th October 2006 08:11 PM

I got Just Can't Help It (DVD) in the mail yesterday. Its amazing. I loved it, although Ukigumo is weird..its like he's bored and he can't wait for it to be over. Plus, I really don't think his guitar playing is that great, he's no Hirama.

hallelujah_united 12th October 2006 06:07 AM

Well it's not that awesome, but it still gets the job done. He holds his own I guess.

PSYCHEDELICOdust 12th October 2006 06:45 AM

Ukigumo's funny, imo.

Izawa REALLY impressed me though, I used to dislike him but now he's like, 3rd fave member.

etheruraura 27th November 2006 05:53 AM

A very happy belated birthday to the lovely Miss Ringo. I can't believe I forgot. She's 28 and still the sexiest woman alive.

hallelujah_united 27th November 2006 08:49 AM

I wouldn't have checked if you didn't post this. :laugh

Happy belated birthday then!

Since I'm here, a quick update:

- Single release titled "Kono Yo no Kagiri" (The Limits of This World) scheduled for 2007.01.17 release
- Yet-unnamed album release scheduled for 2007.02.21. Supposedly an album inspired from the Sakuran movie Ringo is acting in.
- Yet-unnamed DVD release scheduled for 2007.02.21.

midnightispure 6th December 2006 08:11 PM

Ringo's 4th album will be titled: "Heisei Fuzoku", which means "Heisei Sex Service", if I'm not mistaken.

Pre Order Link from CDJapan

The first press/limited edition will contain three stickers, a coaster, and will be packaged in a cross-shaped digipack.

From Ringoran

Quote:

Shiina Ringo’s fourth solo album’s title has been announced. It will be called 平成風俗 (Heisei Fuzoku). Heisei is the current era name in Japan. Fuzoku means manners, customs or sex service. Usually, the name implies prostitution or acts of that regard. Judging by the nature of Sakuran, I think it would be fair to say that the album’s title translation would be “Heisei Sex Service”.

There will be two versions of this album. The regular edition will cost 3,059 yen. The limited edition will cost 3,400 yen, and will include a cross-shaped special digipak, three stickers and a coaster. You better pre-order fast if you want those bonuses.

The credits of the album says that ‘Saito Neko’ has made a big contribution to the album. He was the violinist featured on the Baishou Ecstasy and ADULTS ONLY concerts. As well, he worked on Meisai, la salle de bain, Yume no Ato, Torikoshi Kurou and Sid to Hakuchumu. He also is featured on Shiina Ringo’s upcoming single, “Kono Yo no Kagiri”. Considering the nature of those songs, this album looks like it will be another musical feast from Shiina yet again.

bondingo 6th December 2006 11:33 PM

Well that's very exciting news. I'm definitely pre-ordering Heisei for those extras :D

ruixiong89 7th December 2006 06:11 AM

Ooo ... raunchy album title! I would love to get this but I don't think Shiina Ringo stuff ever gets to where I live.

Keishi 7th December 2006 07:44 AM

Wow. Sex service. Mmhmmmm. Tastey.

And w00t. Those songs are my favorite songs. I hope this album will be as great as them XD

hallelujah_united 7th December 2006 02:40 PM

Ringo ALWAYS has raunchy titles though. :laugh

I sure hope it's going to be a musical feast like the article has said, since this is sort of a comeback for her. Definitely going to pre-order this. :)

Keishi 9th December 2006 06:23 PM

yep it is. *cough* Seiteki Healing *cough* :laugh

Idk if I'm gonna get this one....if this is as hot as ADULT, I'm in. getting it:heart

Ani_C 1st January 2007 08:43 PM

Thanks for the preview! Sounds like Ringo is trying a happier feel now to her music eh? >w<;; She always needs those raunchy titles doesn't she? xDDD

Keishi 19th January 2007 01:48 PM

Check out Jpopsuki :D

JimmyKoria 6th February 2007 07:49 AM

Someone at Utada-online pointed out that there are five samples on Ringo's website (here second update on the site) from the new album. She redid the vocals for Gamble so I assume all the songs got some kind of vocal update. I assumed she would do something like that because Ringo is really good about not ripping off fans. I'm excited for this new album (even if it's her old songs, there are still new ones). Oiran is my favorite song of all the samples.

Overall I'm glad I saved my money and didn't buy Olivia's new album. I think this Ringo's new release is going to be more worth my time.

natalaxie 9th April 2007 07:02 AM

so does anyone know anything about ringo's next concert? im in japan this year and if she's having a concert i wanna go!!

Bashumaru 9th January 2008 07:07 AM

Phoenix Down!

Lol, I revived this thread. I just discovered her awhile ago and the first song I heard from her was Honnou. I LURVE her album Shouso Strip, its so good, I like every single track. I can't believe she had her mole removed, she looked better with it XD.

paper_doll 9th January 2008 01:38 PM

I think that one might be my favourite, too. Maybe... it's hard to choose.

Bashumaru 11th January 2008 05:06 AM

What the hell is Utaite Myoori? All the songs are so weird o_o. Is the album supposed to be like that?

Ani_C 11th January 2008 06:18 AM

^ Utaite Myoori is a cover album she did, apparently it's a favourite among many, but it's probably my least favourite album of her's. I think she did a good job in it though, it's nice hearing her sing in different languages (though she should have tried Spanish xD). I honestly love all her albums, but my bottom three have to be (this is including Tokyo Jihen): Utaiter Myoori, Karuki Zamen Kuri no Hana, and Adult. Shouso Strip is definitely one of her best, it's what got me to love her. As for concert info, I think during November or something Tokyo Jihen had their tour, because I know that they did one recently, here's a link to some info on it.

http://strikeup.wordpress.com/

Bashumaru 12th January 2008 02:59 AM

Lol, so thats what it is XD, I like the German song for some weird reason XD. And her cover of I wanna be loved by you :P. There are a lot of French tracks though or something on the Mori-pact disc.

Ani_C 13th January 2008 02:10 AM

^ Nobara right? xD The funny sounding happyish one right? xDD Ahh... Yeah she does some pretty good covers ^^

Lol, Yeah that one XD. I don't know why but its catchy XD.

HEDOfloe 14th January 2008 01:27 AM

I really like the songs on Utaite Miyori too. It's really great. My favorite album by her, though, is KZK. It's a masterpiece. I don't know how she could compose an album with like over 40 different instruments @_@. As for Tokyo Jihen, my favorite is ADULT. I love Kyouiku and Variety too, but ADULT is just the perfect blend.

How do you guys feel about Heisei Fuzoku? I love it ^_^

paper_doll 14th January 2008 02:14 AM

I was sort of unimpressed with it unfortunately :/ Gamble and Sakuran were really good, maybe Oiran, too, but it was the rearranged songs that I didn't really care for. I thought the originals were much better.

PSYCHEDELICOdust 14th January 2008 02:42 AM

OLD THREAD IS OLD.

KZK is definitely her best album, VARIETY is definitely TJ's most playful album, ADULT is exactly it's title, and kyouiku is delicious with a heavy amount of BULLHORN.

shouso STRIP is also delicious. STOICISM <3

Foxxy_Fuyumi 14th January 2008 02:59 AM

Hi guys!
I have only one single of her: Gips.
And is really cool!
Can you recommend more good albums/singles of her?

Ani_C 14th January 2008 05:42 AM

^ Honestly, listen to all her stuff xDDD! She is a musical genius! To be honest, I don't think anyone should listen to KZK as their first, I feel that you really need to get the feel for her music to truly appreciate that one, cause when it the first I heard and it was cool but too dark sounding. I listen to it now and heck, I can melt to the sound it's so good xD My fave on that album is Okonomide. Ichijiku no Hana is nice too ^^ So weird, so Ringo, she's as weird as they come and I love her for it xD

Sooo... My personal summaries:

Muzai Moratorium: Goodness, for a debut album this really did kickstart it all. It's rockish fun, it's good an easy listening pop-rockish sound so no problem there. The highlights for sure are Kabukicho no Jyoou and Marunouchi Sadistic <3

Shouso Strip: Out of all the albums including TJ this is my favourite. I felt that she started to experiment more here, I especially adore Sakana, that song is soooo jazzy it gets hot and steamy everytime I listen to it in the show... Nothing implied there I'll stop before I let out any wrong ideas xD *ahem* A lot more rockish than the first, in this she's in her state of ROCKSTAR SHIINA! So my faves are Tsumi to Batsu, Sakana and Honnou.

Utaite Myoori: Like I said it's my least favourite of all, but she does an amazing job with these covers, my personal faves in this are Kuroi Orfeo, Momen no Handkerchief and Yer Blues.

Karuki Zamen Kuri no Hana: Oh gosh, this album is sooo dark, like I said you need to get the feel for Shiina for this album. The highlights are Meisai (One of my all time Shiina faves), Okonomide, Yattsuke Shigoto, and Torikoshi Kurou.

Heisei Fuuzoku: Just for a bit of history's sake, KZK was supposed to be her last solo, but we goy (blessed with ;D ) this lil beauty! It's very classical and jazzy sounding which totally made me adore it. The whole album is incredible (honestly) the only tracks I really would skip are Hatsukoi Shoujo and Poltergeist but that's me being a loser. The re-arranged tracks are even more amazing than the originals (IMO of course), this one is a MUST HAVE!

Tokyo Jihen time! (How is it so far? xD)

Kyouiku: My favourite Tokyo Jihen album (although they're all quite top notch). I feel that it was heavily influenced by Shiina for sure (well usually it is right but whatever), since they were starting they didn't have their jazz-rock fully defined yet but they did have the elements of both. The whole album is a joy ride, it's there to educate you ;D Ringo style! The best of the album, Ringo no Uta, Nyusui Negai, Sounan, and Genjitsu wo Warau.

Adult: Thanks to JimmyKoria I was able to get my hands on this one ^^ Here is where they really defined their style to the point where you can say, THIS IS TOKYO JIHEN! IMO of course. A lot more chilled, despite her swearing ;D It does have a more mature sound to this though, thus the name Adult. The album is incredible but it leaves me craving more which is why it didn't out do Kyouiku for me, probably because (I'm such a hypocrite xD) it's very jazzy and easy to listen, it ends too quickly I guess. I've got to say though, this album has a lot of her best material (IMO) such as Himitsu (I love her rock version too on Dynamite Out), Shuraba, Blackout, Toumei Ningen, and Tegami.

Variety: Last but not least! Tokyo Jihen is back and Shiina has taken her influence out, it was time for Uki, Izawa, and Kameda to truly shine (did Hata do any?). I'm tired of summarizing, it still has their defined sound just that they played around alot more. Top songs: Kingyo no Hako, Boutomin, SS/AW, Kronekodow, Tsukigime Hime, and Metro.

My favourite song by her is Ringo no Uta (single version) :yes Her best for sure, honestly if she doesn't end her career with that song she's on drugs or something xD

edit: WOW this took a while, I wonder who will waste time reading it. Ah well, not everyone likes the same as me but I guess my likes revolve around the same as Ringo :laugh Soulmate maybe!?

Foxxy_Fuyumi 14th January 2008 01:28 PM

I read it!
Thanks a lot Ani!

Hmm ADULT is my favorite Tokyo Jihen album, but I don't think you can ever say anything IS Tokyo Jihen. Phase 1 had two different members and thats really who they were. Then look at phase 2. You have ADULT composed by Ringo and then the guys compose Variety which is completely different. I don't think they can be identified. They are like chameleons ^__^.

ADULT is my favorite album Ringo has ever done, but if I had to divide by band and solo, I'd say KZK is my favorite solo album. It's really a master piece. Over 30 different instruments on it @_@. I can't get over what a feat that is.

Ani_C 24th January 2008 06:03 AM

^*drool* Makes sense why it sounds so damn distorted! I love it though. Yeah I thought it through and Tokyo Jihen is just Tokyo Jihen. They do whatever they want really, whatever it is that they do, and it's done well! x3 Of course Shiina is the real magic to it, they all make up the band but without her they'd be hooped. Oh gosh I have their friggin Spa and Treatment live sitting there waiting for me to watch but I have no tiiiime! D: It's so sad. I wonder what their next step will be... METAL!? xDDDD

HEDOfloe 28th January 2008 05:13 AM

Well, they sorta did metal in JCHI, when they performed Kenka Jouto. It was ok, but I doubt they will go in that direction. I hope not. I expect them to take everything they've learned from experimenting and just refine a specific sound. Hopefully ^_~

sora2522 28th January 2008 06:01 AM

someone introduce me to tokyo jihen. i've been meaning to get into them but havne't had time

Oh I don't ever want them to have a specific sound other than the obvious jazz influences.

I adored how silly and carefree most of VARIETY was.

bondingo 28th January 2008 12:11 PM

I wish she would leave Tokyo Jihen for good. Kyoiku was good, and Adult was alright, but I really did not enjoy Variety. None of the three even compare to her solo work though, so I wish she would continue with that. She finally takes a hiatus from the band and gives us an album with barely any new material (it was still good though).

Educate yourself with Kyouiku ;) If I find the time I may upload it for ya.

@PSYCHEDELICO: I don't think we have to worry much about that, as long as Shiina has the pants on in the band, they're always bound to do the wildest things with that lil jazzy spice to it.

@Bondingo: That may be true but I think it was a nice change to see her take her influence away for an album :yes It was a great opportunity for the band to prove itself, that it's not JUST about Shiina (although I think we all know it is ;D!). What would happen if Ayu tried something Shiina Ringo-like!? OwO;;

@HEDO: I remember that, it was pretty cool but I think it's best if they don't head that way too :dead2 LMAO, JAZZ METAL!? xDDDDD

Yeah I think so too, I haven't really even touched their songs yet. They're just on my hard drive rotting away. Solo Ringo was the best.

Ani_C 13th February 2008 02:48 AM

^ I'm sorry you doods feel that way but I'm really interested to see what they'll come up with next, they've been full of surprise this far (to me anyways) and I'm sure Ringo has something new up her sleeve. The way I feel about it now is that Tokyo Jihen just has this cool factor, as for Ringo, she has all the awesomeness in her but if it's just her she'll do something remarkable but it lacks the 'fun' of Tokyo Jihen which is what I love most about them. I guess it's cause they're a band, I've grown too attached hehe. I guess everynow and then it's good if she does her solo stuff, just to get that full feel for her.

this song better be good, since it's for jun's drama. :grumpy

Yoo Bin 25th March 2009 05:23 AM

Oh yea! Welcome back Shiina. <33333 I hope it's good too which it prolly will because just all songs that are involved in a drama that's starting a JE member are good. :yes

ストロボ・EdGE 5th April 2009 03:22 PM

Why did they have to choose Mellow to be the PV? I hate that song! Her teeth look gray in the PV as well...(?)

elepop 5th April 2009 04:32 PM

Wow, she's back? My friend will be happy to know that. The only Japanese music she listens to is Shiina Ringo and Tokyo Jihen.
