She didn't confirm the plastic surgery, at least for now (she contradicts herself a lot).

I guess I'll ask for this topic to be locked.

KaoriNeko 22nd December 2007 11:20 PM

Is the video still around? I really want to see it.

MemorialAddress 23rd December 2007 07:35 PM

Me too!!
I wanna see!!!

- About the ero-kakoii image she said: "I don't like it, lots of people have a very negative view of me. But when I talked to AVEX president about that, he said I couldn't change my image. Maybe in the near future, when I can do what I want, I'll stop with this ultra-sexy style, but 'till this day comes, I'll keep being ero-kakoii"
Wow. Any respect I had for her just went out the door. If this were Ayu, I believe she would've put her foot down. This just shows that Kumi does whatever is necessary to sell records and is a record label slave. She can't think that her fans are stupid. After all this success, and she STILL has no control over her image? Give me a break.

Either do the sexy thing wholeheartedly, or change and do something else. Koda Kumi strikes me as a very cookie-cutter idol with no sense of self on her own, which sucks because she otherwise does have potential. Then again, I do have to ask myself how much potential she really does have, because if she can't sell records without taking her clothes off? ...well...that's pretty sad. Girlfriend needs to step it up, geez.

And she DID have surgery (well, so did Ayu and others, I believe)...I suppose a little of my respect for her came back, because it does take a lot to admit that.

And why does this thread have to be locked? Any doubt about the greatness of a favorite artist here and nothing else should be said? C'mon, guys.

Beauty4123 23rd December 2007 08:03 PM

this interview is from 2006. so it's old, things could have changed now with kuu and avex. who knows.

Foxxy_Fuyumi 23rd December 2007 08:03 PM

Ayumi was avex's puppet in the beginning of her career. Now that she orchestrated the avex coup d'etat in 2004 she can do what she wants, since she basically controls the company, but in the day she had to do whatever the label demanded of her.

Keishi 23rd December 2007 08:43 PM

I thought she DID stop being sexy? I mean c'mon. Wtf is anytime? Anything you'd call sexy up from BC is nothing compared to her sexiness back then.

elepop 24th December 2007 02:01 AM

I wish Kuu would go back to her sexy image. Like in "Trust you". It was sexy, but not trashy like "JUICY". That image worked on her best.

I completely agree! God I miss that image so much... It just really worked for her. This "cute Kuu" crap makes me sick.

freedreamer 24th December 2007 04:48 AM

^lol haha...same for me...she should manage both...but maybe she just wants a break from that...

wad did Max Matsuura said??? in the fourth
i guess this aint the interview..but its a nice watch

KaoriNeko 24th December 2007 01:53 PM

^A couple pages back they talk about what she said.
It's an interesting interview, she looks gorgeous in that red dress, btw.
Thanks so much, freedreamer for finding it!

DestinyWishes 24th December 2007 03:21 PM

I just read the translation of the interview, damn it I'm late for everything, but after reading that my heart broke for her, some people make huge scarifices for the things they want, I feel so sorry for her.

Anytime is crap...
I hope Kingdom will be different from "anytime" (not that whole "OMG-look-I'm-so-kawaii" stuff)

Oh you're 2 years too late...
Back in the day when her singles barely sold, she pretty much had no choice in her career...
It's either you listen to what they say cause you're doing ****, or you can leave...
And she wasn't going to give up her career because shes passionate about singing!
Personally I find nothing wrong with the image.. Its part of the job, every artist has an image to fit...
and it just so happens Kuu suited the sexy image better than others..
If you look at her now, she's got tonnes of control over her image.. Her sexy image is long gone pretty much, the last time I saw it was during the release of JUICY..
Other than that its pretty much the "Kawaii Kuu-chann"...

Ayu taking control of her career.. now yes.. back in the day I don't think so...
Ayu was forced to release A BEST thats why she had the tear on the cover cause it was supposedly thought to be the last release she'd make...

Actually you're wrong...
her image simply captures their attention and her music is what sells...
NOT her lack of clothing.. if you followed her 2006 releases..
Koi No Tsubomi was one of her biggest hits and it's far from skanky or ****ty...
Her ballads are what got her #1 singles all throughout 2006.. "you",
"feel", "Yume No Uta"...

if she was selling singles cause of her image, her skanky songs would've been racing up the charts but they're not..
Also, the whole "sex" sells crap doesn't apply in Japan... the country feeds off "cute"...
Look at Goto Maki, she's completely trashy.. all her clips are of her touching her fake tits and look at how she's selling..

Please. Remember how Ayu was "forced" to release A BEST? (On a somewhat related note, even Hikki didn't know her record company was going to release a BEST album... It just shows how much control a record company has on an artist...)

Kikaru 24th December 2007 05:41 PM

^Really? I didn't know that about Hikki...which is interesting, considering that Hikki has pretty decent control over her career from the beginning.

I agree with this. But you have to agree it was pretty sad that she had to
do all of these things she didn't want to do just to get where she is now.
I mean I know she loves singing and all, but if you were really passionate
about it, wouldn't you want to make it your own way?
But then again, I do applaud her for failing but then succeeding, even if it
wasn't her choices.
I'm glad she has control over her image and music and such now.
I hope that made sense, i'm a little pumped up on Jolly Rancher candy canes. lmao

atashida 24th December 2007 09:54 PM

Matsuura said when he listened to her voice he liked what he heard but her looks were of concern (basically), especially her weight.

There's more but I'm tired. ^_^

[QUOTE=JimmyKoria;829783]I was told that Japanese are kind of like that. As in, they’ll tell you if they think you’re fat. My old Japanese teacher was teaching English in Japan and a teacher told her, “Michelle, You’re looking kind of fat now.” I don’t think it’s meant to be like “pig” and it’s just a cultural misunderstanding for us? Koda obviously wasn’t fat, she had a chubby face but I’d hardly say she was fat.

I said: The point is: if in 2001-2002 Ayu decided to quit, she would take Avex with her. A whole record company. And I don't believe that was really an option.

You said: Hardly. I like how some how Hamasaki is the one who makes Japan stronger and leads everything. She isn’t a god. Avex was doing fine without Hamasaki which means they’d do fine without her.

Nope. FYI, she was 50% of AVEX profit in 2001. That's in her TIME article and lots of other articles.

OK, I know I'm stupid to reply that sooo long after you said it but...

MERRY CHRISTMAS, enjoy it and spend a good time with your family.

bye

AyUta 25th December 2007 06:43 AM

This really makes me mad, my poor Kuu-chan :[
She didn't deserve that. Max is a jerk, I would have punched and beat the **** out of him xD Kuu-chan :[

CHE.R.RY 25th December 2007 07:07 AM

"- She only had her contract renewed because of the "FINAL FANTASY" single, which was a hit. But after that, her sales quickly dropped. She was just another singer, with anything special. So her staff (mostly a female agent who always goes to work in very short-shorts) had the idea of the "ero-kakoii" style.

- She was the first very-sexy local artist and her first single with her new image, LOVE & HONEY, was a big hit. From then on, she kept the image and her sales only went up.

- About the ero-kakoii image she said: "I don't like it, lots of people have a very negative view of me. But when I talked to AVEX president about that, he said I couldn't change my image. Maybe in the near future, when I can do what I want, I'll stop with this ultra-sexy style, but 'till this day comes, I'll keep being ero-kakoii""

Wow.. that's...

That's really sad. I feel so bad for Kuu.
