We need to wait for tomorrow to see if it will be #1 or #2 at this point we still can't be sure =P

I'm sure avex will use it's 'influence' to make sure GUILTY is #1 on 1/5 and 1/6, thus giving it the weekly #1. GUILTY is doing quite well considering how badly its singles did on the digital charts, I'm impressed. 'Together When...' must really be helping.

I think positive praise for the album in general is also helping.

Hm I think this album was much more well received than for example (m)u. I guess the promotion with a power ballad does help because Japanese love those kind of ballads. Btw which record label are kobukuro?

This is my theory so I might be wrong but I think that the first few weeks are when the normal fans purchase the album as they usually do so they are fairly similar. In the last three years the first week was (approximately) 350k. So thus now it will depend on how well received this album will be. If it will be popular casual fans and others and have a longer chart life.

Right now I predict that this album will sell around 650-700k so probably the sames will be similar to Secret.


Btw wikipedia says "Together When..." was downloaded 1,000,000 times from Recochoku, is there proof for this or this is another fake thing?

the numbers are really close...too close...XD I'm proud of her for reaching 400k (if she really did) my prediction for the album before was 450k to 550k. Considering the amount of singles she released this year and sold, its rather surprising to see the numbers. If kobukuro didn't have the extra day, ayu might of had #1 but if the result in sales is that close, to me it doesn't matter if she end up with #2.

the 1.7 indicator is surely only that...an approximation, an estimation. to take the multiplied figures which are so close at their face value is surely illogical. sure it's definitely close, but who has ACTUALLY sold the most can only be guessed at...

Total sales, I don't think it will be close. I think Kobukuro's album will be a million seller. (391k in the 1st week and another 400k+ in their 2nd/3rd weeks)

I don't think avex buy copies but I do think they might boost copies to stores, make countless special GUILTY counters and put a lot more promotion stunts in stores and streets. ^-^
They might provide like extra X10 (not + 10)copies to any store than usual just to make sales at this point better and after it will be #1 (if they did it at all and it succeeded) stop providing copies and let them sell normally, maybe.

This is really bad though. As we've noticed, she only sold 400k in two weeks, while Secret sold 386k in one week. Ayumi should've easily had 450+k and we wouldn't have had to worry about the sales or being #1. This is probably bad. In the end though, I'm pretty sure Avex will strike a deal with some company to report "more sellings" so that she can get #1 and she'll never know about it. Nobody will speak of it. She'll just be #1 somehow.

well, you can't really blame on Japan. Rather, I think you should blame on avex this time. Releasing an album so close to a massive selling album is always not a good idea (example, Ayu's second week RAINBOW vs. KinKi Kids' first week D album). This time ayu's facing two massive albums. It's obvious that GUILTY do not have a longer chart run compared to EXILE or kobukuro, and nowadays ayu's biggest sales week is on the first week.

And you guys can't say it's dumb that oricon combines the first two weeks' sales in January. It has been ALWAYS like that since the beginning (or at least the time we entered the Jpop world). Why no one said it was dumb when ayu released I am and (miss)understood?
