Idealist your intepretation is very cool!!!
good job |
well I've watched it and its quite confusing actually
and seems so fast though...even the song is 5:18...I dunno...its so so even ayu looks good in it some of u are rite its quite...plain...nothing really special |
I think it would have been a whole lot better if it was actually more Matrix like.
Rather than a fashion shoot having a hidden meaning behind every outfit. Iuno. I think it could have been shot a lot better. I was expecting something a lot more for her 10th anniversary pv. |
Sure it was nice and etc, but yes I agree the whole thing kinda got comical with Ayu's over the top expressions. XDD I mean she crossed the line over fierce, and it just looked funny. D:
|
excellent interpretation you have here, thanks alot!
|
Boring & Lame
Boring because the song needed more action in it perhaps Ayumi pulling a few moves but noting fancy to make it more entertaining, i didnt really see the point with Ayumi wearing her lingerie.... wait.. i didnt really see a point in the PV haha. But reading that review of the PV, i may of gotten the PV's meaning, however, it was still very boring. Lame because of her facial expressions and when the glass shatter effect came she just... ruined it even more :| And that telephone both part... omg . She has done better, really disappointing for a 10th anniversary PV. |
Idealist that was beautiful!... it does makes a lot of sense now!! thanks! n_n
|
Idealist: wow!!! you're awesome..though some parts are still confusing..but i kinda got what you meant :)
thanks anyway.. at first i thought that ayu's just acting as a spy-girl who is being chased by the man in black coats..and ayu needs to change her identities in a lot of different outfits... |
Idealist: Nice explanation! I didn’t look at it that way at all. The only thing I’m not buying is the part about singularity. I’m not sure Ayu would go that in-depth as to make a video of going out of your body in technology, etc. Instead, I’m replacing that with the theme of doing things yourself or letting technology take over. It all still makes sense then.
|
Idealist: Im impressed by ur interpretion!!youre superb!!^^
|
^ can't agree more.. you're awesome Idealist..
|
Looks like a mash up of few random ideas... She looks good, but the whole thing just doesn't hold together...
So much fuss about her going to Venice and we ended up with a weak Panasonic CM. So much fuss about her going to Paris and we end up with a medicore PV. Glad the covers are fine at least. |
^yup i thought the cm will be very special since she went to venice...but ended up its just ayu standing infont of some venice scenery with her typical lumix camera pose...LOL...at least the pv and covers were great :)
|
ayu is overdoing that sexy thing 0.o;;;;;;
and she moves like in (don't) leave me alone. i'm very dissapointed, there was no point whatsoever in that pv!! D: i'm bored to death!!! |
Despite the nice explanation by Idealist, personally, I'm still not really buying into it?
But even so, I still think the PV is a GOOD PV! C'mon! You got to face it, the only real competition Ayu has is herself! The Mirrorcle World PV easily thrashes most PVs out there, it's only because we've seen better from Ayu that we're really unhappy. It's a REALLY fun video to watch, IMO. Simply because it's amusing, empowering yet serious all at the same time! Enough about the "Oh, I so hope she had something to do with mirrors in this PV". That's not a very good reason isn't it? Ayu doesn't need to fulfill YOUR concept of the PV. It's something that she and her director needs to work out. So my verdict for the Mirrorcle World PV is that it still rocks, though definitely one of the weaker PVs from her that we've seen. I think she's applying the same strategy as Hikki but in a more commercial sense. Release something weird, possibly even something that turns people off (i.e. Beautiful World and Kiss & Cry PVs) but then still see sales sky-rocket! But I think Ayu does it much better. Haha! |
I like the song but the PV....lame. Her face expression is TO much! and I hate those moves she does.
|
I thought it was very cool! I love her provocative appeal on the phone booth :P
However I can't help but foressee the ammount of "ayu copied Madonna" comparisons on those anti-fan sites LOL I was almost shocked when I saw ayu with the black feathered hair, and I was like: huh? Am I watching Madonna's Rain here? LOL |
Idealist, great analysis!
I'm very happy with this PV, mostly because I just adore Ayu's different looks. Lovely! Quote:

I love the the close up scene the most, the one with feathers on her head. she looks amazing there!!
|
Like truhappiness said, the guy who shot the A BEST II covers and the alterna PV shot the Mirrorcle World PV -- all three have flashy eyelashes. She didn't copy anybody.
Idealist: Amazing interpretation, watching it over again it doesn't seem as bland as it first appears. |
i like it! i think it's an improvement on some of her more recent PVs
|
I gave the PV another chance and watched it again. Actually it's not that bad at all. And I think the newbie director did a pretty good job.
I think Ayu is an agent. The men in black have a listening device and a radio transmitioner, so they're listening in on her. Agent Ayu, Hamasaki Ayu is crossing the bridge calmly until she releases she's being followed. Time to take a hike. Then we get to the red dress part. She's teasing them, because she knows she's better than them and no matter what they cannot catch her. You know, the handkerchief thing. Usually a lady would drop her handkerchief because she wanted the man she admired to pick it up and return it to her, that would give him a reason to start a conversation with her. Ayu definitely doesn't admire those guys, it's just a tease. I'm beautiful, I'm strong, and you can never have me. She's taking a call in the phone booth, to her co-buddy. And gets suddenly surrounded by mib. With her movements and expressions she's saying: I'm not afraid you, I'm strong and I'm taking the call anyway. We see a car appear. Obviously the men are afraid of its driver cause they pull back. Ayu tosses her head, before entering the car. It's like saying "I showed ya, didn't I?" |

ANYWAY! IDEALIST U TOTALLY ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D |
Quote:
at first i like the idea of the drum beats going along with the footsteps of ayu. i also liked the way ayu ran with small steps with the red dress on. so cute!! I think the people who hates it is because they didnt noe what the PV was talking about. i initially hate it but understood the underlying story. i wish ayu could tease the men more and the men could show more effort in catching ayu. i also dont understand what does the sexy ayu in lingerie represent. the coat in the beginning, the red big dress, the white gown all meant something (i think) but what about the lingerie ayu that only sang the "wow wow yea yea" portion of the song? i would give the PV a 6/10 cos i got this feeling that "they all went to paris jus to film this?" |
LOl now that I look back at the comments, many ppl hated the PV LOL
I dunno...I guess I'm weird. I LOVE when ayu goes all optimistic, badass, powerful, arrogant, divaish, kicking everybody's butts, feeling like she's the best **** you can ever find in this world, sexy, cockroach crusher, spitting and stepping over all other faces in her PVs! :D It gives me such a good energy! That's why I also loved the so hated "(don't) Leave me alone"! |
the video ended too quick because nothing happened.... i thought Ayu was "wanted" for some murder or something...
i don't like Ayu's facial expressions too.... disappointed but it wasnt THAT bad :0 |
READ IDEALIST'S INTERPRETATION...it MAY change your view...coz it surely did for me..very impressive
|
hmm.. i think the director idea abit.. lousy ;S
u see.. the story plot is so confusing .. ( i dun understand a single thing at all.. so damn ) and .. other than looking gorgeous and extremely SEXY, i think there's no other good point in this MV.. i mean.. it SUCKS D: yeah, ayu looks very very pretty in those fancy dress ( esp the big big red dress ), but somehow i think ayu should dance in the chorus part ( fast part ) and perform something instead of like .. taking shoots of herself? ... seriously, if i gonna rate, i gonna rate 3/10 @_@" |
I Just enjoy this PV, that's all. :yes
I will agree that she should use a different PV director from now on just to make different stuff! |
I think, that PV is boring. I don't really like it.
The Scene, when Ayu is walking around in the Trenchcoat and when she is in that Glass-Phone-Box.. she make a strange face. Her expression looks not natural. Looks like, she try to acting. Ah.. I have no idea, who to explain it really. But... she has a strange expression, I think. And.. she really can not walk very good on that shoes! For me.. the PV is really boring. So.. I don't really like it. |
I think Ayu should never film a PV in foreign locations again, judging by her previous PVs. (maybe not fairyland, since it had a crap load of money put into it)
I mean B&D was terrible, and now this was pretty but weird. XD |
Quote:
|
WHAT THE ?!?! O_O
she looks like a lunatic woman running all over paris and the police are chasing after her ?!?! >_< and the way she walk & run in those super-high heels are damn funny and weird :P |
i think she did a good job on walking with that shoes...
and her facial expression is really good...she looks pretty and fierce in the same time...i love it |
I just realized a moment ago that the registration plate of that car in the end of the pv is "13 CRY 91" or something like that (sorry if that's been mentioned already but I'm too tired to read 11 pages). I wonder if that has a meaning too? :D
|
It was pretty awesome. I loved all of it! :D

I stated after that, that people have different definitions of skanky. Apparently ours don't match up. Calling someone "close minded" is very insulting. now maybe i'm more "conservative" but i'm not "close minded" or I wouldn't be an Ayu fan. |
Quote:
And people's definitions of close minded may apparently differ as well. I believe that someone could easily be a fan of Ayu's and be close minded, so I fail to see how that is related. Being open minded in one way (accepting Japanese music) is far different from being open minded in a political or more general sense. Call my statement insulting, but I believe that you were being insulting yourself when you said each of those comments. |
The video is ok! I don't like it that much, cuz it looks to me something like "but it's filmed in Paris!!" thing >_< Don't get it also... I expected more really, and she had lots of ideas to film the pv
|
Quote:
anyway, i'm gonna watch the Mirrocle World PV somemore to try to get my mind to wrap around it a little better lol |
It's good but I'm a bit dissapointed to be honest :yes
I thought you would see a mirror/glass breaking when you hear that sound but NOOOOOO.... :( And also, I feel that some parts are kinda copied from other PVs: tough guys looking for Ayu(?): Endless Sorrow (don't ask me why) Red dress waving thingy: About you Red dress run away: fated phone booth scene (+ phone hanging down): Ladies Night Did I forgot anything? |
I think some ppl are putting too much sense in the PV, athough there isn't a single one...
since when being sexy is bad? she's such a beaut woman, why can't she be proud of it? oh, man, I love her being sexy, it's rather cool ;) skanky?wtf? no way |
^ really? din notice tat?...
off to watch it once again~ |
nanami606 totally bring it on LOL
|
Idealist explanation was super! at first I was kind of dissapointed because is such a strong and upbeat song that I feel the actual PV was not connected with the speed of it..
On the other hand, I dont find the lingerie ayu wears skanky, or whorish..I found it rather elegant or of good taste.. |
ok. i won't say skanky.
i'll say i don't like scantily clad Ayu. there. everyone happy? sheesh! |
Please guys, don't bring religious discussions into this forum. AHS is international, and every culture and religion has to be respected as it is, in order to avoid pointless arguments.
|
mmmmmmmm the video is O.K. it doesn't suit the song that much, it's such an upbeat song, I think a PV like 1LOVE would have suited the song more. This PV is more for a slow song (take out or image out that Ayumi is doing her overly powerful movements and the music) boom, it's a PV for a slow song. Going to france was an excuse to endulge on her success with GUILTIY. But having said all that, I'm happy with the song and can't wait to hear Life
|
wow Idealist!!! amazing interpretation. maybe a little exaggerated :p but it makes so much sense
|
@Idealist~GREAT ideas there! :D I am going to watch it again now. :yes I love this PV even more now...thank you!
|
^ Oh man! Ownsarai! LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR SIGNATURE! :D
|
^ Agreed. That gif makes me lol :P
|
^Thanks ;) LOL it is pure Ayu love! :heart
|
She looks so insane there ahhaha I love it too!
It's almost as if shes sayuing: What are you looking at? I bite! :laugh |
Quote:
|
Haha, it's actually one of my favourite scenes in the PV! (next to the one where she pseudo-rips her coat at the glass breaking sound!) JUST LOVE watching Ayu look and go INSANE! :D
As in, seriously, I think she does A REALLY REALLY GOOD JOB of looking deranged, psychedelic and maniacal, yet retaining her pose and elegance! She's psychotic, yet she plays it well! Got to love her! :D Seriously! The more I watch the PV, the more I love it! |
Quote:
DITTO! The Mirrorcle World PV is :love:love:love |
Idealist: what an awesome interpretation!
Good to know that Ayu PVs mean something and her lyrics too :laugh *is a bit frightend of the future now* So, can you also do an interpretation for the Ladies Night PV :D EDIT: Now I know this I'm totally in love with the PV :D |
she looks grogeous throughout out the PV.and the individual shots are amazing...but holistically as a pv..very choppy and not satisfying......the only part I thought was well donee was the whoa whoa whoa parts.
and her acting was soooooo exagerated...it was kinda imbarassing to watch...ESPECIALLY when the glass breaking sound thing happens.....howeever, the PV does have a unique feel to it.....so it's not a bad pv...JUST far from a good one |
@Idealist: ZOMG ZOMG ZOMG ZOMG! You're my hero!! That was A-W-E-S-O-M-E. I LOVED your review! And i totally agree with you. Maybe some of the things were not even planned, but the way you linked them is just perfect. It totally makes sense to me.
BTW, i'm waiting for your ANGEL'S SONG explanation LOL :laugh Quote:
Quote:
@ownsarai: :roflmao, your sig is the funniest thing evah!! My lovely ayu looks as if she had gone nuts :laugh |
I also absolutely hated it, I can safely say that it's my most disliked PV from Ayu ever. Such a wasted opportunity, for a star like Ayumi Hamasaki she really REALLY shouldn't be getting such **** PVs. They should be top quality, produced, filmed, written etc. by the best. Clearly this was slopped together by a bunch of has-been hacks.
Incredibly disappointed, happy 10 year anniversary Ayu. Your present is the worst PV you've ever produced. |
I just watched it again...honestly, why she chose such a bad director for anniversary single's PV? I dunno, but the directing obviously was very bad...it looked like just a shots combined together, hmph =/
I love it anyway...I can see in this PV Ayus really wnjoying herself...I like her like that - she;s happy=I'm happy ;) |
Quote:
WHATEVER, anyone? |
WHATEVER >>>>>>> Mirrorcle World
|
Why isn't when I like a PV, everyone else hates it? :rolleyes Ugh, why can't we not expect so much flashy PVs from her? I think Ayu wants to move away from all of that as she prolly sees that as old and like for beginners.
|

^ Sorry, but it's the truth, IMO :laugh

After reading Idealist interpretation I really love the video.

^I like that song! Is that PV to Trust crappy as hell? :(
|
^ Well.. you could call it "psychedelic" ... I think that says it all.
|
Quote:
Anyway, Mirrorcle World has an average PV. Random as hell too. Way to celebrate your 10th anniversary :o |
Quote:

Do I sense some parallels with her Appears video?
Not too keen about the video, but she definitely looks gorgeous. Clothes are fab, too! |
Quote:
appears had similar outfits in terms of theme and stuff.. |
Quote:
But maybe i'm biased, since it's the only song i HATE from ayu :( |
Ayu looks amazing in this PV... but I'm utterly confused as to what the story (if there even is one) is or wtf was going on
|
Quote:
|
^ I think Faiza should edit her post, and write "before you start posting, READ IDEALIST'S EXPLANATION"
|
I dunno, do PVs need to make sense? In my experience, it's really only Chinese pop and Korean pop PVs that regularly attempt to have a story.
Most of the time, when I listen to a song, I try to imagine my own PV in my head. 99 percent of the time, I don't think PVs and songs match up well at all :P I like music to remain as abstract as possible. Hehe. |
Kinda late, but I just got around to seeing the PV and I gotta say something... The way people were reacting to it, I expected it to be utter crap with horrible facial exaggerations and hard to understand, but I don't think she over did her expressions. It fit the song to me and I think in other PVs she did it more than that. Also, at the beginning, I don't think she walked awkwardly - she was like on a runway and doing her "fierce walk". :D She looked awesome and the closeup part really worked with that part of the song, it seemed softer. People can't expect some deep PV with a deep storyline everytime. If this is how Ayu feels the song and what comes to her as a visual, then that's just it. So I like it and I hope this does well!
|
Quote:
And most of the being random has come from 2006/2007.. XD -stabs Takahide Ishii- |
I actually like her sharp movements. They're so ferosh! :D
Seriously, I think her movements here match the music very well. It's a song with abrupt transitions. If she were more graceful, it wouldn't have been very effective, in my opinion. Then again, I've watched the video for the first and last time. I have a better PV in my head :P |
Idealist, thank you.
As I always said and I will stick to it, all of ayu's PVs and lyrics have meanings. |
Quote:
I've always had a love/hate relationship with Ayu PVs. |
Quote:
Except maybe B&D, which i don't care at all, cause that PV screams "I'M JAPAN'S BIGGEST DIVA NY. KNEEL DOWN BEFORE ME!" |
Quote:
|
Quote:
it's just that this PV gives me the same feeling I have the impression that it's like parts of her personality |
Quote:
I dunno, just because Ayu's my favorite singer doesn't mean she didn't have her share of bad PVs. And to be honest, her PVs tend to be a hit or miss. |
Quote:
@minna-chan: yeah the first time i saw it, STEP you was the first PV that came to my mind |
Quote:
She's been pretty free and divaish on that PV :D |
^ I love Bold & Delicious -SIDE STORY-!!! She's so funny and diva-ish on that PV. Specially when she's with her dogs :heart. And that has to be one of the BEST hairstyles ayu has ever had
|
I love B&D for the weird out faces that the New Yorkers have when they saw that truck...
especially this one guy...XD |
Quote:
Actually, most PVs and MVs in general bother me. They should get movie directors and fashion photographers to do videos. One of the best music videos I've seen was made by Wong Kar Wai. |
