I think this photoshoot is a new turn. it's like if a new era was beginning. She's turning 30 this year, so I think it's the perfect time to do this kind of photoshoot. She looks mature, elegant & classy. If she did that during her 20s it wouldn't have had the same impact because she wasn't at the same point in her career. It's the perfect moment to do this.

Come on, don't you read celebrity gossip websites (western ones)? Vast majority of comments concerning pretty much any celebrity is like this or dozen times worse. That's how people are these days on the internet, they love to trash everyone, they'll call you a pig, a ho, all the worst stuff they can come up with even if you're just a regular person. The interesting thing about this, is that Ayu has never really been blatantly "sexy" in any of her songs...I remember 1Love she played the role of a stripper, but that wasn't the point of the song, it had a deeper message; I don't recall her ever having a song or theme that was simply: "I'm Ayu, and I'm SEXY!!" So this is rather refreshing for her, and with her about to hit 30 (and she's somewhat "newly" single) I think this is the perfect time, and good for her! I support Ayu, and I love the pictures, they are absolutely gorgeous, and I would expect nothing less from her.

Well, I don't know where Maxker got the extra countries or information from. Neither the Sanspo or Yahoo articles mention Japan as taking part in the promotion. In fact, the Yahoo link (which sources Mainichi as its source) says that Japan doesn't have plans to use the Hamasaki images.

The ONLY countries the articles mention: China, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Vietnam.

Also, neither of the articles mention the promotion expanding outside of Asia.

Yeah, and looking at other articles, it appears that they all pretty much say the exact same thing. I do wonder where the extra countries came from..

I got the info from a French dude on MSN, a member from AyuAngel I think. He only posted the yahoo and Sanspo links as source. Maybe he was in "crazy fan-mode" and added the extra part..:roflmao I will correct the first post, until we get more information.

I think Ayu comes off very classy in this picture. There's nothing wrong with her promoting lingerie. She's a woman & a woman should be the one advertisting it. She shouldn't get backlash for it. She's not a child, so if people criticize they should just consider the facts.

It would be more offensive if she was under 18. A teenager modeling lingerie should get more backlash than Ayu because lingerie has always been targeted for woman not young girls, Ayu hasn't lost any points with me by doing this. I don't find it degrading or low of her. She doesn't need to take off her clothes to get anyone's attention. She's not being skimpy to get noticed. Ayu's a woman, a powerful and strong willed woman. We're not just looking at any ol' model out there, We're looking at Ayumi Hamasaki, one of the biggest artists in Japan. So why would she need to do this for attention? Ayu's always so busy with Concerts from her recent Arena Tour, upcoming Asia Tour, a-nation and the usual CDLs. Rehearsing, Filming Pvs, Cms, and regular photoshoots for magazines, in the studio recording songs, writing songs, Ayu's very hard working for the past 10 years non stop to be exact.

It nice to see a softer side of Ayu (even though I know it's still work --> modeling lingerie) And I'm not talking about soft as in the skin either. Its still nice to see Ayu relaxed, happy, she doesn't look so tired. In the making videos she seemed rather happy :) And as long as Ayu's happy where she is I'm happy too. I'll support Ayu in whatever she does. She's an admirable woman and very smart. She wouldn't of done this if she thought it would of had a negative effect on her career or image.

It really depends on the context of the situation. I wouldn't consider this campaign, for instance, sleazy because that's the whole point of the darn thing: show off bras. It's expected to see the model, then, in the bra for the product.

If a person is just that type of model then okay, again, that's expected of them.

To all you dolts who are shocked or dissapointed in Ayu in some way or another REALLY need to get off the computer and go out and spend the some in the real world.

There is no better way for her to start expanding her career across Asia and maybe even further then with THIS type of add campain; not with electronic adds, cosmetic adds, candy adds... none of those even come close to making the visual impact adds like this will. Millions of people are going to see these adds, and a good percentage of those who see them will want to know just who this model is. This means her sales will go up, her popularity will spread, and she'll break the confines of Japan in a real, solid manner - not just a few concerts.

Ayu is turning 30 in a few months. She'd look ridiculous making adds where she tried to play off being a young naive, cute, spokeswoman. It would be devistating and laughable. This is, in my opinion, one of the smartest moves Ayu has made in years. The potential this has to reinvigorate her career is endless. All Ayu fans should be thrilled, not acting like prude children who just got cooties or something.

I actually think in terms of clothing, it's rather tame. I think RAINBOW and LOVEppear covers is actually more revealing.

But yeah, she is turning 30, and one can only be the cute girl for so long before getting weird.

ayu had plenty of bikini shots throughout her whole career. There's like one bikini pic in each year's calendar. The way she looked and posed on the ads I can accept because it was classy and not trashy. If she was spreading her legs, showing her butt cheeks, or grabbing her boobs, and looking like she's trying to seduce than that is trashy and I won't accept...but so far she haven't done anything sexy that I cannot accept.

If you still don't like this kind of tactic, that's fine, no one says you have to :) But just as I'm willing to understand why you may disapprove of it I think it would be best to try and see all sides of the situation - others here have brought up good points: Ayu can't go around pretending to be all ~cutesy and sweet~ forever.
