BoA performed at the SBS Gayo Daejeon. You guys must watch them if you haven't!

Look who's talking:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxwnifiEX7U

Eat you up:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NV1Onqj5MDA

The performances are so awesome! And she's singing really good while dancing with Look who's talking. I was surprised. I think these are her best peformances of these songs so far :heart

(I'm not really liking her hair though)

Beauty4123 29th December 2008 07:57 PM

thanks for those performances! :D

To be honest, those performances were kind of boring. There was no spark, fire, or passion in them. It was like she was just going through the motions. There was never a point where I went "wow, this is good!" Look Who's Talking is much better than Eat You Up though.

Temari_2 30th December 2008 12:53 AM

^

I would have to agree. Before I saw Boa's performance I was reading people's comment and they were all the typical "amazing" comments. Then when I watched it I'm just like "wtf?!" We've all seen Boa perform 100% better than this in the past.

agree with you... the song is amazing , but the performances are boring !

Sundae 30th December 2008 02:55 AM

I watched the entire show and BoA's performance was not as flashy as everyone else's. It was just a straight forward performance. She did an amazing job.

Kaiouforever 30th December 2008 04:15 AM

I loved Look Who's Talking performance ~ It's weird to hear BoA speak in Korean now, it feels like forever!

I didn't really think they were boring but she did seem like she wasn't enjoying it that much. It's kind of like "Yeah, whatever Korea, I'm totally over you now"

She was nervous actually. She was a little stiff until that dancer made her laugh and she started relaxing and enjoying herself.

BoA Updates!!!
MTV IGGY put up Part 4 of their BoA videos. This one features her birthday party.

New pictures

She looks so sleepy in those pictures.

She did a street interview with KBS. It hasn't aired yet though. But here are some fancams.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcN91k9wzxo
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=rHIr3IxlOf8
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=snywaSmBA6I
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=JRjQAlfHObA

She also did an interview with Newsen. Here's Part 1. She talks about the SBS preformance and her US activities.
Spoiler:
▲ It's been a long time since you've stood on the stage in Korea.

- It was a lot of fun, but I was nervous. It felt great since it's been a long time I've been broadcast in Korea. I hate it but I still get very nervous. On the stage in Korea, I get the most nervous. There are a lot of expectations... Always getting a lot of attention puts on the pressure.

▲ You're advancing into the U.S. market. What are your thoughts?

- Actually my activities so far have been brief. U.S. activities won't be for another few months. I think I'm in an adapting period. I'm working the most at studying English.

▲ What kind of method does U.S. activities use?

- It's different from Korea because there are a lot of club promotions. At first I thought, "Why do I have to go to these?" but now I'm used to it. I almost never performed in clubs in Korea and Japan.

▲ Billlboard's club charts response was good.

- First of all, I feel good. My song became played a lot in the clubs. Many club dance songs also climb up in the Billboard main chart. But I think this is still very insufficient. You can't hold onto the ranking. To work with a famous producer is an honor for a celebrity.

▲ To be on the Billboard club chart is publicity. What do you think?

- To be honest, I didn't expect "Eat You Up" to be so popular. It has almost no existing public relations. Of course, Asian-Americans and Americans have a lot of power. But I'm sure the results were more than my expectations.

When I first went to Japan, I spent one year there. I expect it will take more time to succeed in the United States. I'm not hurrying. If I don't get results in a relatively short period, then I won't be frustrated or disappointed. I want to slowly go about it my way.

Our priority is putting my name in the Billboard 100. I want to advance to the top.

▲ Aren't the U.S. activities difficult?

In Asia, there is a responsibility to try new things. But in the U.S. there are many rookies. U.S. activities have a wide range. It's not like Korea or Japan where they know BoA. I'm a rookie.

The language is specifically difficult. Memorizing the lyrics is very hard. In the U.S. entertainment industry, studying English is just one task.

▲ This is the first time a Korean singer is advancing into the U.S. major market. Are you a role model for Asian singers?

Maybe the most famous, but not a role model. There are different musical styles. [T/N: I felt I couldn't translate the last part of BoA's answer well enough, so I'll just leave the original text here. If anyone could help, I'd be so grateful!] 롤모델을 삼기보단 보아가 가진 모습 그대로 선보이겠다. 물론 미국에 맞는 음악이나 안무 변화는 있겠지만 기존의 보아에서 조금 더 다듬어졌다고 보는 편이 좋다.

it would sorta be logical reasoning cause I would get the single if it had EYU on it.

Melon Panda 3rd January 2009 05:07 AM

Maybe her company just felt like throwing the song on there? It's not like it was extra work or anything, and it might attract buyers too.

Sundae 3rd January 2009 08:58 AM

There is no EYU single so some people would definitely want that song. The mp3 I got from Itunes wasn't in good quality. The one on Amazon was better but I would prefer one ripped from a CD.

this one is fake for sure.

Sundae 3rd January 2009 05:57 PM

It's was said that they been getting together to make music back last summer, but I thought they put the song aside to focus on her American debut. It's also in JBook. JBook says that it's a Bloodshy and Avant track.

She said that she intends to release more "singles" in the US XD And that she isn't really expecting to become popular right away and well the album will prolly be released in April. oh Eat You Up had more than 1600 plays on last.fm weekly (BoA's songs don't usually get more than 300-400 plays a week).

She's always had this problem since Best of Soul was released. It's because she dances with her heels and that's not good for the knees or feet. It's probably why she doesn't dance as hard as she used to. I mean pre EYU.

AyUta 8th January 2009 01:59 AM

Hope everything goes well with her knee surgery :)

Maemi 8th January 2009 02:26 AM

This is 2009 first entry,
I hope to count with your support this year

let’s get into the matter

BoA has just returned to Japan
and today (maybe I should say yesterday) she recorded a PV.

The title is “EIEN” (eternity)
BoA really made her best
so there’s no doubt this will become a great video

For all the details of the single please wait a little longer

Tomorrow she’ll be recording

Be patient I’ll bring you all the details

Beauty4123 9th January 2009 05:15 AM

wow, that never crossed my mind. avex should really change the date, then.

Sundae 9th January 2009 05:17 AM

Roger Ebert on BoA. He was ranting on Ben Lyons and pulled BoA into it.

Quote:

"Accept no favors. For example, if some 'friends' throw you a birthday party at a Vegas joint they hope to fill with movie stars who are your 'friends,' say thanks, but no thanks. That crosses the line, even if the 'Britney Spears of Korea' truly is your close personal friend." (In October, Lyons celebrated his 27th birthday at Las Vegas nightclub Body English with a party attended by a number of C-grade celebrities including, you guessed it, BoA Kwon, who is sometimes identified as "the Britney Spears of Korea.")

Celaphorce 9th January 2009 06:40 AM

FIRSTKLAS 9th January 2009 12:26 PM

It's sad about BoA's knees.

It kinda means that her body will never be the same since injuries like that have life-long repercussions and now it's something that she'll always have to be aware of.

And I would've never thought that the Roger Ebert would be among those who talked bad about BoA. It's so... random.

Solarblade 9th January 2009 12:43 PM

Roger Ebert is so damn retarted sometimes, he just get shot in the arm for comments like that to someone he has no idea about. BoA should kick him in the nuts IMHO

Sundae 9th January 2009 04:53 PM

It should be noted that Roger Ebert didn't call her a C grade celebrity, the writer of the article did. Also BoA is a C-grade celebrity in the states. At least she was mentioned right?

Beauty4123 9th January 2009 07:03 PM

well yeah, but it's not like she got an honorable mention or something, lol. what a mean writer :grumpy

Re:★ 9th January 2009 11:43 PM

Until she breaks the Hot 100, I'm pretty sure she's like, a D grade celeb.

CoriKaru 10th January 2009 12:47 AM

Yeah, C List is a little too generous for BoA Kwon, although I don't get the point of anything that was said about Ben Lyons or BoA Kwon. Maybe it has something to due with Ben having Epert's job now.

Sundae 10th January 2009 03:03 AM

I was interested in what ravex is exactly so for those that don't know some info. ravex is a group that Avex put together for the 20th anniversary. It consists of Shinichi Osawa (MONDO GROSSO), Tomoyuki Tanaka (Fantastic Plastic Machine), and Taku Takahashi (m-flo). This single with BoA is their second single. ravex first single is called I RAVE U feat. DJ OZMA. Here's the music video for that.

FuNsTyLe 10th January 2009 11:32 AM

It's too bad that so many of her interviews in the US are with Korean/Asian-focused websites, magazines and tv-shows, where probably 90% of the viewers already like BoA...
It's as if I was going to break the American market, and when I got there, I only do interviews and performances in Norwegian tv-shows and clubs...
That doesn't really get her alot of new fans or promote her music alot, since most of those people are already familiar with BoA.

njanjayrp 10th January 2009 01:22 PM

On a positive side her english is slowly getting better and even tough these interviews might not be effective she is getting a chance to become more comfortable with having the english interviews :)

How many interviews has she had? Well let's see.

Kiwibox-not asian focused
Seventeen Magazine-not asian focused
Nylon Magazine-not asian focused

Soompi-asian focused
The KBS, SBS, and Newsen-korea focused
KIIS FM - not asian focused
Sidewalks TV-not asian focused

MTV IGGY- international music scene focused

Any other interviews to add in? So far it's more non asian focused. I wasn't sure if I should add the KBS, SBS and Newsen interviews since she did those specifically for her Korean audience, but it's an interview as promotion so I put it in.

Korean pop sensation BoA is currently recording her first English-language album (check out her first single, "Eat You Up" — it's an infectious R&B/pop tune that you won't be able to get out of your head!), and she stopped by the Seventeen offices to chat about fashion, beauty, and — of course — the new album.

BoA definitely has a Rihanna-like look going on (she describes her style as "tomboy," and she likes hoodies and urban gear). But what really sets her apart are her funky nails. On most of her fingers, she has a simple clear tip, so that it appears that you can see right through the nail. Then, on a couple of select fingers, BoA's had them black-tipped and crystallized. It's a bling look without being too much.

Make sure you're on the lookout for BoA's album, coming in 2009, and if you've heard "Eat You Up" or any of her other music, let us know what you think below!

I love how she said she sees herself performing all over the US in 5 years still. I'm glad to see she's determined to make it here and hopefully her record company will keep pushing her out there in the future.

I STILL LOVE EAT YOU UP!
