^

It's supposed to be Watashi ni. If peco did sing Watashi wa (which I don't hear at all..), then it's Peco's mistake and not an indication of live vocals.

waterballoon 4th January 2009 03:19 PM

^ Well, that point was supposed to be 'watashi wa', cos right after that line, it's the end part of the chorus! Maybe my ears had a problem, but I definitely heard Peco singing 'watashi wa' (which is correct at that point of the song) and Ayu singing 'watashi ni' (a mistake).

Also, I've watched Over... and it's another weird mystery. "It's Over" is definitely iffy cos the audio came out before the mic was even near her mouth... but after that when the circle stage moves down, you can see that it was very jerky, and her arms were flabbing. At that moment, the 'ta' that she was singing was heavily accented/attacked, clearly showing that her vocals were affected by the jerking motion of the stage... meaning it's most likely live.

Mari-chan 4th January 2009 03:56 PM

I didn't saw the full show until now... only some parts on Youtube (My Computer is very slow.. so I need a lot of time to download the full show).
But.. what I saw until now.. was realls greate. I really like, that she sung songs, she never performed befor, or seldom.
What I don't like, was the lip-sync. In Angels Song, you can see it clearly.
So.. can't wait to see the full show.

Melrose 4th January 2009 04:25 PM

^

Oh, Watashi wa mabataki sae mo oshimu no?

*checks again*

Um she sings watashi wa, not watashi ni. o.O

BTW, Over seems to have an ayu back track, which would be the track that sung It's Over when her mic wasn't near her mouth. (I mean obviously there's a back track at that point, but I can also hear it in the chorus after that, PLUS her live voice, which means it's not lip sync..).

waterballoon 4th January 2009 04:27 PM

^ Okay I guess my ears were clogged or something at that time... Hmm lol.

I really loved this concert..
Yeah there was a bad sync issue in Evolution~
But you have to expect it from encoded videos~~
They just wanna get it out the fastest.

Anyways~ I am really happy about this concert!!! TwT

Sorry if I offended any one earlier~
I just got soo frustrated about people calling her fake or tricking people.

And it is not slandering at all, since the word slander implies that what is being said is a lie. To say that Ayu has a bunch of STDs (as one rumor says), THAT is slander. To say that she has lip synched occasionally in the past and did so again in this concert, is not slander.

I didn't say you slander her~
Saying she lipsynced is not slandering.
Saying she is fake, just pretending and trying so hard to trick people is slander.
Which is what that guy said.
Of course I can say "her voice was bad in that one" or "she should not wear that costume", or "she lipsynced that one" and thats not slander... ahahaha
But yeah, saying what he said really is offensive. =[
And seemed so 2channel.

But I think we are all realizing that downloaded videos can never exactly prove that she is lipsyncing except if she says the wrong lyrics.

Of course some parts of ANGEL'S SONG is lipsynced, but I think some is live too.
Like the last part, she sounded a little different than the rest of the song, kind of out of breath~

But anyways~ of course I know she lipsynced at least one or two songs..
It was not possible for her to sound well if she didn't~

But that discussions is over now~~~ ^^);
Let's just talk about the qualities of the concert.
It's really weird, but I love the costume in vogue and HONEY,
And also the Real me one, and GREEN!!
Actually, I wish she kept the kimono on for will~ T_T
ahaha it looked weird with the party dress.
Did you notice Peco and Princess also had kimonos on!! they were beautiful.
Imagine how much they costed... @_@

I love how high she goes in End of the World.
You can see her jamming the monitor in the ear at the end of the chorus to hear herself.. ahaha it was funny.
... or was that in Heartplace?
Or both?

Heartplace sounded weird to me... the chorus... like... I had this idea of the melody, and it was completely different... ahaha.
I cant explain it.. but I was shock!!!

POWDER SNOW performance was okay..
I find myself listening to A Song For XX album now nonstop.. ahaha
Before I really didnt like it.
Thats the power of her lives!!!

I really love Mirrorcle World performance without the boat.. ahaha
And the silver and not gold!!!

freedreamer 4th January 2009 05:55 PM

^yea the ending part...she sounded NORMAL lol..not perfect but her normal voice...I could hear the...u noe, not so perfect Ayu vocals.

That messup was such a pity. very jarring when i saw it. lol..sadly

I picked a few to watch. GREEN was quite spooky when the green light came on. Ayu + Maro was super nice to watch. Plz make Maro the next ONE.

POWDER SNOW was lovely!!!!!

I loved the choreo in In the Corner, it's so great to see Ayu dancing again. The outfit was smart and Ayu did the dance very well.

yea...Thats all. I'll be waiting for the DVD to see more. usually CDLs take 3-4 months to edit. so I'm fine. As long as Rule/Sparkle comes out soon :P
(last year's wan tok longer probably because of AT07's longer edit)

Melting_Holidays 4th January 2009 06:19 PM

Even if she did what she did I loved it.

These are the songs that made me love her and hearing them with her new voice is love. :)

PS: I love her studded bandage/glove thing on her hand.

ayu_fantasy 4th January 2009 06:22 PM

I haven't watch all the performance, but by judging on the screencaps, it's really amazing... The outfits are glamourous, sexy and CUTTTE!!! haha

Mirai Noah 4th January 2009 06:48 PM

I'm watching the concert right now, and wow, Ayu's vocals are good! :D

Kikaru 4th January 2009 06:55 PM

...this is going to make me sound like a bad person...but...

In Hope or Pain when Shuya ran across the stage, am I the only one who was waiting for him to trip?

js_surrealism 4th January 2009 07:11 PM

What I liked about the concert:
1. The setlist - I was happy to hear songs like Honey, And then and Naturally performed.
2. Her energy - she seemed really into the whole show.
3. The white dress she wore during the Powder Snow and Scar performances - gorgeous!

What I disliked:
1. The lip-syncing - come on, let's accept it, she lip synced here. The Angel Song example has been pimped to death, and I think she looked really sheepish during evolution when the voiceover goes "Yo-chan" but she forgets to lip it.
2. The multi-coloured leopard print outfit - needs to be ripped and burnt. Now.
3. I wish she had played some songs that I REALLY love, like girlish and monochrome.

My 2 cents worth on the lip-syncing issue:

Was she lip-syncing? Yes she was. I don't think we can attribute the mistakes she made in Angel Song, Over and evolution to video syncing issues. She clearly mouths the wrong words and forgets to lip parts that were played etc.

Why lip-syncing is an issue? My enjoyment of a live performance is affected majorly on how much I believe that the performance, is, well, live. If she's going to just mouth to a pre-recorded track and HAVE US BELIEVE THAT SHE IS SINGING IT LIVE, I'd feel cheated, as a fan, who has defended her on numerous occasions of her musical integrity. I don't go into every live show trying to spot mistakes, but I think we can all agree that these errors were far too obvious to be missed, and once I have reason to question that she is singing live, my appreciation of the show is compromised, because I don't know for sure if she is singing live for the rest of the show.

Is it understandable that she is lip-syncing? Yes! Absolutely! She is ill, she just recovered from a surgery, it's a long show. It's completely understandable that she'd need to lip sync to put up a show that is presentable to her fans. But this still does not take away the fact that she lip synced, and this undermines her integrity as an artist.

Am I still a fan of hers? Absolutely. I am a raging, rabid fanboy of hers, lip-syncing or not. I do wish she wouldn't do it anymore, but even if she does, I'm gonna continue to buy her records as long as she keeps putting out these great songs, and continue to watch her shows. She has an X-factor that transcends all her vocal shortcomings, and so I am hooked and will keep coming back for more.

freedreamer 4th January 2009 07:16 PM

^well SunShine already explained that there was SYNC probs...so I think the evolution and Over wan was? I dunno...
and LOL wot? sing songs you REALLY Love...hmmm ok

anyway I just watched 3 more.

SIGNAL~Hana~too late: LOVED THIS LIVE SO MUCH...she seems so bright and lively. Her hair was nice.

SCAR: amazing to here this live for the first time. And what better time to do it - when her vocals have matured. I really thought she might cry in this song because of the lyrics...but I think she concentrated too much on the walking and remembering lyrics...(WHAT'S WITH THE WALKK...).. But this was just really nice

MW: seems very empty hahaha. Good vocals as usual after so long. But without the ship, it seems so BLUE...Even a giant gown would make it more intersting..but gosh I LOVE the silver outfit...very sparkly and Smart...(Sparkle)

Kikaru 4th January 2009 07:24 PM

^it seems like the only song with confirmed (aka obvious) lipsyncing is Angel's song I believe. Which I have to say apart from mouthing the wrong lyrics, the vocals in that song just sounds...different from rest of the track. Over it's suspicious, but it's unclear whether it's that line or it's like Happy Ending of AT05-06 where the most part of the song was live and one part is lip-synced or it's a backtrack where she's not suppose to sing.

Evolution...the Yo-chan part is weird, because it was dark. Granted, I don't think I watched enough Evolution lives compare, but I remember reading somewhere that when people suspect evolution is lip-synced, it normally is because it sounds extremely similar to her past evolution lives...

And is it me or do I hear a backtrack in evolution?

Granted, I think she needs to consider using a stronger backtrack, so that it gives her a chance to catch up her breath without losing the song. And also I think she sounds better with her own backtrack, because I feel in part of the concert Peco's voice is a little overwhelming (like at the end of Surreal, where I'm straining to hear Ayu)

Also when Ayu's introducing her dancers, Shuya and Zin seems to get the bigger reception and a few fangirlish screams...that just made me LOL.

And I just have to say, the leopard multi-coloring outfit isn't that bad. At least the hoodie was actually pretty cute. But I felt like she could have wore it with dark pants or jeans and it would look okay, but the bottom she wore with it made her look like a middle-age jogger who wants to recapture her youth...

[QUOTE=freedreamer;1768089]SIGNAL~Hana~too late: LOVED THIS LIVE SO MUCH...she seems so bright and lively. Her hair was nice.[QUOTE]

I did not watch this performance, but I listened to the MP3 rip of it

and let me say this
SIGNAL was really good
Hana was excellent
but Ayumi DESTROYED too late, her vocals were so bad on this song, she had that REALLY bad cute voice I don't like

Just my 2 cents on how badly she destroyed that medley at the end.

maikaru 4th January 2009 07:46 PM

To the post about evolution

It's actually really impossible for her to lipsync this evolution.
There is too many 'come ons', 'thank you's', and "woo!" and "mottos" to actually lipsync, because I dont think its easy to remember when and how you said things in the track.
she used a backing track, which is noticable during the second chorus of evolution, where she does the really high "yeah" and she says "motto,"
But you can still hear the really high one too~
I cant actually believe people think it's a lipsync.. ahaha.
Especially "Yo~chan" part.
She couldnt possibly remember exactly how she was gonna say it.. and there's really no point to lipsync "yo~chan" ahahaha.
It's video sync issues~~~
Everything after the Yo-chan part is out of sync, even the "wow yeah" punches.

panda♥ 4th January 2009 07:59 PM

^I have to agree with you, and if I remember correctly Ayu sounded very out of breath while singing Evolution.

But hey, think of it this way. Ayu may be bad at lipsyncing, but that's because she hasn't had much practice at it which is a GOOD thing. :D

Kikaru 4th January 2009 08:06 PM

^I think we should send Ayu to miming 101: how to not mess up when lip-syncing...

I still have problem getting the encore, but overall I love the concert. Few suspicion of lip-syncing aside (tbh it doesn't really bother me that much if she did) but overall the vocals were pretty good. My personal favorites are end of the World, Powdered Snow, and Will.

The only thing that I really didn't like was that pink fairy costume, which looked like something you get at the discount costume store.

And I realize I spend a good deal of time spotting the various way they try to cover up her injury.

Although I feel like telling Shuya to get a new hairstyle. At one shot it looks like something blond and furry died on his head...

I don't mind her being bad at lipsyncing, it just shows that she hasn't done it enough to be good at it. :yes

Raiu-Ayu 4th January 2009 08:31 PM

If everyone is still worried about the lip-syncing thing I suggest you take the CDL file, put it in some video editor and then move the sound about a millisecond back and you'll see that it syncs up correctly. Apart from the ANGEL'S SONG bit in which there is no way anyone can explain away that lol

maikaru 4th January 2009 08:55 PM

SHU-YA's hairstyle is sooo old now..
Maybe 2 years?
Ayu changes her hair every like 3 months, and he... once every 1,000 ahaha
Thats why I like Maro + Ayu now, he is new~ and his hair is better LOL

Ayumi27 5th January 2009 01:24 AM

I just finished watching PCDL

Overall, it was a great show, even though many elements like the stage and costumes were recycled, but still it had a generous budget considering it's a two-night only show.

The best were the In The Corner and Will performances, the intro and AT2008 videos, the conmemorative video and the "Kawaii section" dress, since it wasn't as ridiculous as in previous shows haha. Also, it was cool to include vogue in that section instead of the "oriental" one as we may expected considering the song's previous performances. Another cool thing was the colour of the stage and lighting used. Finally, her vocals were outstanding!! She probably lip-synched ANGELS' SONG and maybe one or two more songs, but that's forgiven considering her pain and the lenght of the show!

Still, I found some songs boring, specially Over, and the GREEN opening too, since it wasn't an spectacular entrance like CDL 04-05 WHATEVER or CDL 06-07 ourselves. Anyway, I apriciate Ayu's attempt to elaborate such an interesting setlist, and how hard she tried not to show her pain... And what about that glittering thing in her hand? Was that covering something or it's just my imagination??

jbrat2219 5th January 2009 02:05 AM

Okay now that I FINALLY finished the entire main concert, I can give an opinion :O

In short, best countdown live in the history of Ayu countdown lives! Hmm, that's not a fair assessment since I haven't seen them all so -> best countdown live in the history of Ayu countdown lives that I've seen xD;

1.GREEN

This song sounds great live! I'm glad she didn't perform it until now because this kind of performance is what the song deserves :D

2.Will

Although I saw this being performed differently in my mind, I'm just happy she performed it at all! Part of me really wanted a beautiful fan/umbrella dance to this, I think it would have been very suiting.

3.vogue

I use to think this song was just okay and chose to listen to a remix of it if I felt the need to listen. But after hearing it live I appreciate it much more :D:D:D I like the outfit she wore with it but a more traditional one would have been cool too? It would have kept with the oriental theme of GREEN/Will.

4.HONEY

"MY HONEY!" I don't like this song but it's fun to see live :D She had very good vocals, they weren't as annoying as the recorded version lol.

5.ANGEL'S SONG

I'm going to go against the norm here and say I LOVED it when she messed up that line at the end of the chorus! I'm sorry it was just too funny. I know some may take lip-synching seriously, but I'm not just one of those people. I look at moments like this as carefree and jokingly as I do when she screws up Trauma. It's one thing if it's A Song for XX, Who..., M or tracks that she's famous for and touch the listener's heart. But come on! It's ANGEL'S SONG xD;....

6.End of the World

I think this should go down in the AyuRock Hall of Fame. I never paid this song much attention, I listened to it when I saw the set list and I pretty much had a good feeling she would rock the house with this track. She sure didn't let me down :) I personally hope she re-records this song because her current stronger voice makes this song REALLY stand out.

7.Heartplace

This song is perfect after all that awesome we get from End of the World! Back in the day I didn't have much access to Ayu lives, but I remember seeing this song live way back during the RAINBOW era. Out of the two, this performance was much better. SO powerful, she did my hidden love justice!

8.Real me

I think this was the best choreography of the night! It's great to see her really moving along with the song and she looks SO much more natural than she did in the music video! And great vocals on top of that? Age hasn't slowed her down, she's better than ever ^-^b

9.And Then ~ Naturally

And then, Naturally.... I fell in love with these two songs all over again haha. They sound so good together as well :) I've never seen these live, so it was a real treat!

10.In The Corner

Great choreography, great outfits, great stage lighting! I think the lighting on the stage played a key role in the atmosphere of the song and performance! She turned what was often called an "album filler" into one of the best performances of the show.

11.POWDER SNOW

I think this was the biggest anticipated performance, right? :O In my opinion, Ayu did not disappoint. Her outfit for this was SPECTACULAR! (I'm sure when my mom sees it she'll fall in love haha). I think it would be interesting to see her mix POWDER SNOW and P.S. II together somehow. Unlike the HANABIs, these two sound very similar, if I'm not mistaken?

12.HOPE or PAIN

Beautiful dress, great vocals! I think someone mentioned they wanted to see Shu-ya fall? Yeah, that would have been great xD; But it would have also ruined the flow of the song. I'm so use to hearing the classical version of this song I was freaking out because I thought they re-arranged it hahahahaha. Boy am I slow lol.

13.Over

"It's over..." yet another lip mistake by our inexperienced lip syncer Ayumi Hamasaki. To be honest, who cares :(. I'm not sure why she would want to lip that one part, but I don't quite care either. I love this song, always have and I was thrilled to see it sung live. That little mishap didn't ruin it for me.

14.SCAR

I fell in love with the song way before I found out it was underrated lol. It's one of her album ballads that really stood out to me and she gave such a beautiful performance for it! I love how it came after HOPE or PAIN and Over! It's like a theme, "I wasn't sure if what we had was HOPE or PAIN, but now it's over, I've lost my love, now there's a SCAR in my heart."

15.SIGNAL ~ Hana ~ too late

Since these songs are so old, hearing them again in her voice now I was blown away! To be honest, I think SIGNAL and Hana are truly great songs! I remember when I first got into Ayu, I would dance to these two non-stop (it was of no coincidence that they were on my first purchased CD ayu-mi-x non-stop mega mix hahahaha). I think Ayu's voice added some flavor that the songs desperately needed.

16.UNITE!

As energetic and entertaining as always. Although I noticed Ayu couldn't make a complete fist with her injured hand. She closed it as if she were holding an invisible mic. I was wondering why she constantly held the mic in that hand but I guess it's like a safety net so she doesn't close her hand all the way and it limits the amount of pain.

17.SURREAL~evolution~SURREAL

Great crowd pumping songs! I'm not sure what lip "whoo yo chan" part everyone was talking about... evolution was totally live and her lips totally moved during that part so...

(10th anniversary commemoration video)

I'm not sure what the guy was saying but it was nice seeing all those old clips from Ayu's past concerts! It looks like her concerts were always very extravagant :O

18.Who...

I think this was a better countdown song that last year's RAINBOW. As much as I love that song, something was very off about it as the countdown track...

19.Trauma

Did anyone else notice how HARD Ayu tried to remember the lyrics? xD; I love how everyone in the audience knew it better than her! Also, I'm not saying anything was lipped, but did anyone notice the random "WHOO" NOT coming from Ayu's mouth? Lol, I think maybe the audio/video sync was off again, but she was just walking along and I hear this random "WHOO!!!" and I didn't know where it came from hahaha.

20.independent

Best thing about this performance was the energy of it, I have never seen someone so excited about throwing balls at people in my life lmao. Her vocals were really good as well, you could totally tell it was live. And did anyone see that nice little throw she gave with her injured hand? I was like, "GOOD JOB AYU!!!"

21.everywhere nowhere

I was totally singing along with the song, I don't know why it was never a staple song. It's so lively and energetic! Her vocals were top notch! I noticed a slightly different arrangement during the verses (I don't know music lingo so correct me if I'm wrong)?

22.Mirrorcle World

Hands down, best Mirrorcle World live performance VOCALLY! She looked great in that outfit as well! Yeah, it wasn't as WOAH as some other performances like a-nation. But her vocals were really really really really good. And I totally think it's definitely live because her vocals were never that good for this song hahahaha. Too bad they weren't as great at Kouhaku or the ladies may have had a stronger chance ;)

I really enjoyed this concert thus far and I can't wait for it to come out on DVD so I can watch THE REST hahahaha Jeez I can't believe I watched all that and it's still not over :O

Nope.

Seriously, he may be a nice enough guy, and a good dancer too.
Ayu seems comfortable with him, and she's no fool.
But he's been her principal dancer for too long. No matter how hard he tries, the moves appear so I've-seen-this-before and come across stale, so I just blank him out or switch off until he disappears.

GRACE 5th January 2009 02:14 AM

I really felt bad for Shuya having to flail around like that in leather pants.

Like I seriously think some of these wardrobe decisions were chosen while she was doped up on the pain meds.

She also had this on Kouhaku, probably to keep the stitches on her hand from showing? She just had surgery after all.

Anyhow~ I do have to say that I thought the show as a whole was EXCELLENT! Her vocals were absolutely amazing~ My favorite performances had to be...
GREEN (Finally! A live version!!!!!!)
Will (<3)
HONEY (CUTE!!!)
ANGEL'S SONG (yes, even though she lipped it)
End of the World (Beautiful!!!)
Heartplace (WE ARE FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3)
Real me (mostly because Ayu did the dance from the PV~)
In The Corner (YES!!!)
POWDER SNOW (LOVE!!!)
HOPE or PAIN (I don't particularly LIKE this song, but the performance was very moving)
Over(OMG! I can die and be happy now~ I love this song so much!!!)
SCAR (very nicely done~)
Who...(rock arrangement) (even though that outfit was horrid!)
everywhere nowhere (Another LOVE song for me!!)
Mirrorcle World (Will always be love for me...but next performance I hope to see that high kick back in there! :D)

Her being doped up is also a good way to explain Over. That's the one where they filmed a whole lot of her looking at herself on the screen right?

"look at me, I'm so pretty"--Ayu, zoning out
"Dammit, she's supposed to be singing!"--Peco, turning on the recorded version of Over.
"IIIIIIIIIIIT'S OOOOOOOOOOOV"--Radio
"**** right! *lifts mike* VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER"--Ayu

Endless_RAINBOW 5th January 2009 02:54 AM

I think ayu did a very good job in this PCDL. I enyoyed watching most of the concert and I'm really happy because she sang a lot of songs that I wanted to hear. IMO, the best parts of the concerts are the asia-themed beginning with "GREEN" and "Will", "In the Corner", the ballads and the "SIGNAL" "Hana" medley. I don't feel cheated of disappointed because of the lipsynch issue. Actually, I prefer that way because what I really enjoy about her lives is the whole show, not only her vocals. I wish I had the money to buy this concert, because is very good.

But I think it's sync issues with the video about the "it's over" cause she sings the other "it's over"

~~~
Maybe I wanna think for some reasons she just did the motsu thing to let us know she is lipsyncing???
Because she didnt even change her mouthing to the correct lyrics~ ahaha
But I love the Angel's Song performance.. like the cute moves and stuff~
I felt so "awww~~~ cute!!!"
and I am one of the few who loves the fairy princess costume!!~ ahaha
And I loved in Trauma, how she screams "YA!" after the high note..
It was like..
Ayu: "Yeah!!!! > : P I am so great tonight!! wooo"
Producers: "she is so high on drugs right now... -_-)"
LOL. You might want to consider a fairy princess with a fugly translucent furry (oh yeah Shuuya gets blond furret on his hair and I get pink furret on my bathe robe!) pink bath robe that can reveal my white long boots!
It is UNBELIEVABLE how hostile some of you people became in this thread. You must be barrels of fun in real life.
Sunshineslayer definitely deserves an apology from somebody. Not like anyone is going to be mature enough to offer one. She apologized herself more than once. Good God, take a pill or a nap or something. Whatever you have to do to not act like she just stabbed your grandmother.
Thankyou very much, SheFliesHigher. I'm glad that someone realized that it was out of line. Even I was worried that maybe I had said something incredibly hurtful, or off base or something like that to deserve those kinds of responses so I went back and checked my posts, but really couldn't find anything like that - so I was left pretty much dumb struck and hurt. But anyways, thankyou - I appreciate it.
"It's Over" is definitely iffy cos the audio came out before the mic was even near her mouth... but after that when the circle stage moves down, you can see that it was very jerky, and her arms were flabbing. At that moment, the 'ta' that she was singing was heavily accented/attacked, clearly showing that her vocals were affected by the jerking motion of the stage... meaning it's most likely live.
I noticed how jerky the circle stage started going down too and how that seemed to affect her. Glad you pointed that out. :)
LMAO! Hahaha yes! I think Shuya is pretty played out these days. I'm really ready to see Ayu with another lead dancer and I'm reeeally liking Maro. :yes
KLJames 5th January 2009 08:43 AM
overall the chosen song is more good compare to prev CDL esp will n real me. but too sad realise she lip-sync many esp angel's song (around 26:55). not so prefect ... :tipsy
majrakun 5th January 2009 08:50 AM
What's up, Fairy Princess Ayu? Can't afford to buy real angel wings for ANGEL'S SONG since you tore them apart for Endless Sorrow? And all that fur is too distracting. :shakehead
\I wonder if she purposely wanted that tacky cute atmosphere, what with the dancers having neon blue and green 60's hairstyles. *shudders*And then in the between all that, Gomi the magician was among them as well. GOMI, the manry man.
The part where Shuya "attempted" to give her presents were funny though, his reactions were so comical when she rejected them. But she got the best of them all :roflmao And then they were separated by one of the green-haired girls, who could probably be Midoring. Daym, is there some sort of love triangle going on here? XD
But their outfits at that time were a recycle of last year's RAINBOW-evo-B&G-glitter (yeah you get the point), with a few added blings. I'm still not sure who did better.
And then mister solo's outfit during the ballads. :thud Come on, winter overcoat, LEATHER pants, and a scarf? :roflmao If you're so cold, why don't you put a shirt on? XD It's okay, you're still awesome for doing two solos.
The multi-coloured thingamajig isn't that bad. At least it looked much better than on pictures. I actually quite like it. But as for the dancers (again) TRACKSUITS?! A few of them were even doing aerobic moves during the countdown. Mocking themselves, much?
My favourite outfit is definitely In The Corner's. Man-Ayu, you should make more appearances in the future! I hope this will be an inspiration for some future performances, especially given the fans' reactions to it! <3
Yeah yeah, I'm ranting about something else other than her vocals. :shimmy
freedreamer 5th January 2009 09:08 AM
U noe because of this CDL, i actually burned a CD for myself with the rarer songs...and songs that she wont release on the BEST album(unless it's fan-picked)...old songs..and some recent...
sadly...I dun have POWDER SNOW without the ASfXX's vocals...damn..
1-WE WISH
2-Connected
3-too late
4-And Then
5-Naturally
6-End of the World
7-Heartplace
8-HOPE or PAIN
9-Over
10-SCAR
11-Will
12-In The Corner
13-everywhere nowhere
14-ANGEL'S SONG
15-HONEY
16-End roll
17-rainy day
i could have added Key, teddy bear, Dolls but these songs kinda stood out more...
i quite like the flow of all these.
Heartplace ~ HOPE or PAIN because it has strings and rock.
Ayumiko 5th January 2009 10:14 AM
Finally finished watching the main concert and I have to say I really love it! CDL 07-08 was my fav cdl and this topped it. Ayu looked gorgeous! seriously! gorgeous! She definitely lost some weight. Her vocals were very good. I'm very pleased with that. The performances were very excellent. I really like all the performances minus Angel's song coz of the crazy outfit. I can see ayu and her staff put a lot of effort into planning this cdl. As for the stage, its similar to last year's but better...I like it a lot better actually...and looks higher budget. I really like the lighting.
btw...Maro is so much better than shuya. The lion dance part...omg...he looked so cool doing his martial art/dance moves. Shuya's solo dance part...>_>...its just like his other ones.
Diana 5th January 2009 12:23 PM
PCDL mistakes & random stuff
Oh well.. I'm currently watching PCDL :D :D And I came to ANGEL'S SONG.. The singing was ok... Until the first chorus when she instead "Kimi no se ni tenshi no hane wo mita" sang "Kimi no se ni tenshi no hane wo motsu" lol You can see by moves of her mouth :) I was like: PLAYBACK!! And I thought HONEY was on playback...haha.
So did anyone else find something similar? :)
pommy48 5th January 2009 12:25 PM
hmm heard she messes up on Over too
Diana 5th January 2009 12:27 PM
Really? I just skipped few performances yesterday, I'm gonna see what she missed :yes
And yeah, I noticed that she always has something on her right wrist! Is it because of surgery? First i thought she didn't hurt her hand at all because she moved it too much/too normally..
prussian blue 5th January 2009 12:35 PM
she sang wrongly in the last part of mirrorcle world too, right? the ye ye ye part, she was not in the right timing.
Ayumi_lover 5th January 2009 12:39 PM
LacusClyne 5th January 2009 12:46 PM
vogue feels like lip sych too, but ANGEL's SONG is 100% lipsych, coz it's playing 'hana wo mita', but her lip was singing , 'hana wo motsu'.
I just saw Over, I think she didn't miss. :/ On Ayuprimenova are lyrics
"jikan ga nagare" but she sings "toki ga nagare" and I think it's translators mistake, cause on real mp3 is toki :) Correct me if I'm wrong!
It's like Lacus sad, it's too obvious for ANGEL'S SONG. I also thought because it's damaged file but then I remembered 2nd chorus lyrics...
I didn't see the concert yet, just heard some MP3s and ayu's vocals are GREAT.
Has to be one of the greatest shows ever!!!
I think all these costumes are to remind people of past ayu.
Like, in one concert she had people on stilts in ridiculous costumes.
That's more embarrassing. ahaha.
But then yeah, these costumes really remind of the old old concerts.
I realllly loved Angel's Song ones.. ahaha.
And remember, didnt she only have one wing in Endless sorrow? =[
Diana 5th January 2009 02:02 PM
GREEN/Will - it's pretty nice :D I just think that wig is bleh!
vogue/HONEY/ANGEL'S SONG - ok, it's cute, liked HONEY perf, just didn't like AS
End of the World/Heartplace - For the first song chorus was awful! I liked Heartplace very much, just the begining is bad when she does those moves :(
Real me/ And Then~Naturally/In The Corner - everything was great!! Expect outfits :/
POWDER SNOW/HOPE or PAIN/Over/SCAR - LOVE IT!! I'll start to listen more to POWDER SNOW! And I am so glad she chose other songs to sing :D
SIGNAL ~ Hana ~ too late/UNITE!/SURREAL~evolution~SURREAL - noppeee.. just SURREAL!
Who.. /Trauma/independent/everywhere nowhere - everything was nice :D It was actually nice to see Trauma!
Mirrorcle World - it was ok, she uses the same thing all the time so i was a little disappointed because of the outfits :/
Maemi 5th January 2009 02:19 PM
Her outfits were awful. I liked very much GREEN, Will, MW, Over and In The Corner. And Then - Naturally were really cool <3
The whole concert was ok, but nothing special ._. The beginning was just amazing.
Raleigh 5th January 2009 02:39 PM
Here's my mini-review:
The first video was really really neat. I liked the offshots a lot. They really made it look epic and very professional. I liked it a lot. The intro for GREEN looks low a bit low budget but it was a good job from her backup dancers. The dragons were pretty neat. I enjoyed the performance for both GREEN and Will. The fact that she still danced a little and put in effort was a good thing. However I would've preferred Will to be sung in a kimono, even if she used the same one from GREEN.
The pink outfit for vogue was out of place. Even the backup singers had a more appropriate outfit... It's supposed to be an oriental/Asiatic song. The mini-choreography was nice but if they used the fans again it would've been so much nicer. I'm guessing they didn't want to include an interlude or something so she changed her outfit before. HONEY was pretty cute and fun to watch. She looked like she was enjoying it so much. ANGEL'S SONG left me with no words. First I saw Ayu's outfit and wondered if she borrowed Kumi's stylist. Because that was ...tacky. Well, a fashion disaster once in a while is acceptable. The whole performance was chaotic and err... it seemed that whoever designed this was on drugs.
END OF THE WORLD was pretty good. Kinda like Decision last year. Anyway I liked the simplistic style and the dramatic performance. Also she looks so good in that outfit. Heartplace was good too though she struggled with some notes. But I enjoyed that a lot, made it feel more raw and emotional. The fact that they even got a small orchestra was really neat.
Real me was quite good. I liked the outfits, reminded me of her Rainbow era. The choreography was a bit mellow though. Naturally + and then were a nice trip to the past. The choreography for Naturally was pretty neat. Nothing spectacular but quite solid. In the Corner is one of my favourite songs. It's a shame she didn't choose a lovely gown for this song. But the choreography was not so shabby. I felt it was a bit unmemorable though.
POWDER SNOW had a nice intro though I'm not too crazy about seeing Shuya dance again... Ayu's outfit was really nice. Is it a modification of her Happy Xmas live? Ayu pulled off a very nice performance on this one, especially since it's such an old song. Someone mentioned they should've included snow.. I think that would've been nice. HOPE or PAIN was okay but I'm wondering if they recycled yet another gown of Ayu's. It was another nice performance but Shuya's dancing was.. oh well. Over was yet another solid performance. I liked the fact that Ayu was alone. SCAR sounded good. Liked the idea of a choir. Overall she pulled a very basic but classy performance.
SIGNAL-HANA-TOO LATE were also quite well performed. The choreography was good, the vocals were sold and Ayu looked quite good. The whole 90's outfit was sooo cool! I was surprised that she was still full of energy and looked like she was enjoying herself so much. I think this part was one of her best parts. UNITE is a song that has been performed over and over so there's nothing much to say. It's quite good as the other UNITE performances. Same goes for SURREAL/evolution.
The 10 years clip was nice. I liked the highlights of her career. Really showed how much she loves performing for her fans. Who.. was a nice song for the countdown. However the outfit was sooo bad. Trauma is always a fun song to dance too. The audience looked like they were having fun too! independent is one of my favourite concert songs. I'm a bit disappointed that Ayu looked a bit tired and didn't dance so much in this one. everywhere nowhere had a cool arrangement
Finally Mirrorcle World sounded good. Nothing else to say here either. It was good, the outfit looked cool and the choreography was good.
-----
Also I will never get tired of saying this but her backup singers are not really good. Their voices grate, it's as if they are wailing. I know they're her close friends but I always get SO irritated when I hear a solo by them. I was so angry when I heard Peco wailing at Heartplace!!!
Overall, I think this is one of her best Countdown lives. The fact that so many underrated songs got sung was awesome. Also it was amazing how Ayu pulled such a performance when she had just injured her hand. I can't wait to see this on DVD on a higher quality!
waterballoon 5th January 2009 02:58 PM
Precisely. Now let's talk about the REAL mistakes. Like her horrendous furry pink bath robe *** FAIRY PRINCESS costume in ANGEL'S SONG. :angel:bbarf Or the weirdo costume Shu-ya has on HOPE or PAIN... O.o
Haha, that costume was terrible!
truehappiness 5th January 2009 04:58 PM
The "Over" thing is apparently not really seeable, as you could say that the first "It's over" was actually played back, and when she's putting the mic to her mouth it's to sing the next part of the song. And as others have said, the file is about 500milliseconds late/early [Dunno which one.]
I think this thread should be merged with the other one, since it's mainly talking about what's been going on there since the PCDL first aired.
Nah :P, well Im thinking maybe Maro will replace him in the future or they might share the lead role thingy, but for now still looks like Shuya is the lead guy. After the chinese tabloids, TA messages, and the pics on zins blog, majrakun was like "oh noo shuya isn't going to be in lead roles anymore!!!" and i was like "of course he will calm down!!!". See Maj, all is well :laugh :P
Maro looked really good in GREEN, Im glad Ayu picked him. Atleast no Midoring, finally I can listen to the song again with a different image popping up into my head :laugh
truehappiness 5th January 2009 05:35 PM
I think that with the advent of the "lol, do I have a thing with Shuya?" thing on her blog, she probably stuck Maro in that position. Obviously, Shuya had like every solo prior, so why now? lol.
I'd have to say that the outfits that people generally hate [leopard/cheetah print and fairy princess] are like, totally Ayu. I mean, this woman has dressed up in just about every kind of costume imaginable by now, she's bound to dip into the realm of what looks good to her/doesn't look good to the general public.. lol.
waterballoon 5th January 2009 05:37 PM
^ Lol. I bet during the rehearsals, Ayu went like,
"Okay so Maro will do the GREEN dance cos he spins like a monkey, Shu-ya will be my lead man in my emo songs cos he's like so hot, Go-mi will be my gay/magician cos yeah he is one ;). and Subaru and Ryoji... oh hmm oh hmm..."
truehappiness 5th January 2009 05:41 PM
I sorta wonder if Ayu assigns them these roles... since usually choreographers tend to choose who dances with who based on who they think looks good together. But this is Ayu, so she'll probably obviously have favorites and people she'd want to dance with.. oi. Why Shu-ya of all people? Why not switch it up every concert? lol.
On the topic of dancers, I feel rather sad for the female dancers that didn't advance past CDL07-08.. that is, if those dancers were taken out or if they quit in general.. probably the former.
Oh oh, and about ANGEL'S SONG.. was it generally the same as the AT03-04 performance?
Oh, I see now. It's supposed to be kind of like that Ladies Night / alterna interlude thing.. but not really. Seems like Ayu's specialty is NOT these cutesy songs.. or it's rather difficult to come up with scenarios with them included in it [see: Beautiful Fighters / this ANGEL'S SONG..] though AT03-04's A DINER made sense whereas this was just.. attempting to remake the interlude-thing for the stage. And I kind of see what they did there.. she's supposed to be celebrating her 10th anniversary in this song with like, a magician and a cake, and a wacky outfit with ANGEL'S SONG. But I guess with Ayu not being 10 years old, it definitely looks.. strange.
It's highly likely that this lipsynching thing was just a bad case of lipsynching the chorus (which she definitely messed up) and singing the verses to me.. I guess it's because I hear a sort of echo when the verses are being sung, while the choruses lack it.
waterballoon 5th January 2009 06:04 PM
The one thing I find the strangest in both AT 03-04 and PCDL is that the very last word of ANGEL'S SONG (at least according to the CD) is "mo"... but in all the lives, she sings "ru"... did she change the lyrics or something?
And I reckon the choreographer (Peco right?) decides the dancers and all that first, and Ayu steps in to make some tweaks, to her liking. Cool.
truehappiness 5th January 2009 06:07 PM
Ayu seems to utilize Chiharu and Etsu more than Peco, I imagine.. so I think Chiharu and Etsu might choreograph the "Ayu x ______" dance routines, while Peco seems to be more associated with the group dances like INSPIRE and such.
Fun fact! Peco did the stuff for the recent Ponyo on a Cliff performance at Kouhaku!
mikecavs11 5th January 2009 06:29 PM
its only possible to see these things on live tv, they'll probably cut out that angle on the dvd
waterballoon 5th January 2009 06:29 PM
^ Stuff? The dancing? I hope she's not the voice of Ponyo... O.o
stepYOU1234 5th January 2009 08:40 PM
I really like what I have seen so far. Nice to see Ayu dancing again and to see loads of old songs/ones I never thought would be performed again (I had given up on HONEY, it was performed once at AT05 so I assumed that was it and it would never see light again!)
Been listening to the live mp3 a lot! Lots of them seem more powerful/ better arrangement when live. I like Vogue with the longer intro (my favourite part of the song) and Powder Snow has such a kick to it. Speaking of which, anyone feel that Powder Snow would have gone better with Ayu walking along the whole catwalk to the beat? Might just be me, but I have been listening to it while walking and I think it would have been nice...
I'm probably wrong but I don't think Chiharu and Etsu is involved with choreography anymore. We've hardly seen them since 2007, and since Zin & Kayannochi are much more involved with the dance choreography its possible they replaced them. Might make more sense since Zin and Shuya are close friends (came from the same dance school) and perhaps Zin picks Shuya for the solo roles. Or maybe Ayu shows favoritism to Shuya.
I would think that if that were the case, you would likely hear more of a clear difference between how the choruses and verses sound - to me though, they sound like they flow perfectly together. Another possible telling thing I think is that in Real Me and I believe and then/naturally as well, you can at least hear some breath sounds but in some of the other head set mic songs you don't really hear anything at all.
Not quite - it is inexplicably missing My All. I have no clue why. Everything else is there though with no audio/video problems or satellite problems at the end.
But I guess that at least saves one thing to look forward to on the DVD.
It's obvious why she picks Shuya. Shuya must have a thing for Ayu, so, she does it with this in mind:
"Dance pathetic worm, and always be reminded that you'll never be pretty enough to be with this pretty whahahahaha~"--Ayu
By the way, does anyone have a screenshot of those people in the front row during vogue that look like they're bored out of their minds? I want to caption it "how not to look on national TV"
Does it just end before MY ALL then? Strange..
It's so weird how you can be famous in one aspect of your career and then no one cares about you in the other... Comparing current album sales to concert ticket sales, I think Japan prefers to experience their favorite artist live than buy their music (physical at least), no?
Yep, it cuts right after Boys and Girls ends. This was combined from 3 rar files and all three files are complete so it seems that for whatever reason the encoder chose to leave My All off. I agree that its strange though.
I agree with that - especially for older artists. A lot of really famous singers from the 70s/80s/90s still release music but have crappy sales, yet they can sell out a tour no problem.
truehappiness 5th January 2009 09:42 PM
Depends on the people.. with groups like SAS, people still buy their stuff AND go to concerts. I think TRF's departure from the music industry for a few years hurt them in that aspect.. (but SAS does the hiatus thing too, like right now, so what gives?)
I guess it's possibly because their genre went out of style shortly after they left.
Shuya can never pull the lion dance off..Maro was so cool (I just have to say it again) He's better looking too. Hope Maro will replace Shuya someday...lol
GRACE 5th January 2009 09:46 PM
The dragon dance and GREEN made me decide that Maro is so cute <3
AHAHAHA
That one old girl who is doing nothing on the left side?
And then when they show the right side, the three in white team message shirts.
They stood out because of the spotlight... ahaha.
What a difference in fan.
Why waste that money to look so bored. ahahaha.
And again I have to say..
Maro as the baby lion is soooo cute >w<
Did anyone else see Maro behind Ayu (I forget the song sorry) making the SILLIEST faces!!!!
One minute he was smiling behind her and then the next minute you would just see his hand like he fell down or something... I think it was UNITE!.... independent? One of those high energy songs hahaha
Watch AT06 Step You / Ladies Night or whenever they tie the guys up if you want to see some ugly faces XD heck I couldn't sleep that night, I was that scared lol.
And shame on those bored fans on the front row!! I've seen it more often, they must be rich girls that got those expensive front-row tickets from daddy to make em happy, but they can't just be seen in a concert going all-out, it'd hurt their image...
jbrat2219 6th January 2009 01:23 AM
I watched Kuu's KINGDOM tour DVD shortly before this concert and I have to say the atmosphere from the fans are completely different... I hate to say but... Ayu fans look pretty bored for the most part... I don't know how since there's so much going on. You see the die hard fans shouting and jumping along but those front row people are DEAD xD;
I remember seeing Kuu perform Moon Crying and people were actually crying! It's like the fans at Kuu's concert were much more emotional and involved.
milky_way 6th January 2009 01:37 AM
^ That's one thing that's always bugged me when watching any concert DVDs :/
I think some people just have different ways of enjoying concerts. My Mom is a huge Ayu fan, but whenever she goes to one of the concerts, she is the type that just stands there and doesn't do anything. Whereas I'm next to her doing the Trauma dance or something. :) Still though, the ones during Vogue that are so close to her, you'd think they would at least crack a smile or something.
Ayumi27 6th January 2009 01:54 AM
Yeah, I don't get that kind of "fan's" behaivour... I mean, if I were at first or 499th row in any Ayu concert, and it is being recorded for TV and DVD release, I wouldn't stop screaming and jumping haha
jimex289 6th January 2009 01:54 AM
You can't say they aren't having fun or are bored just from appearances. I agree with SunshineSlayer very much. I've been to a few rock concerts myself. Some people like to headbang and mosh. Other people like me just prefer to stand still and enjoy the sound...maybe clap along. From my experience, I know for sure it'll differ for each person. Also, this was a very special CDL unlike her past ones. I'm sure those people didn't go just to be bored. If I'm not mistaken the tickets weren't easy to get your hands on.
If I went to one of Ayu's concerts, I would most likely stand and enjoy the songs. I'm not the type to yell anything or express a lot of emotions, unless she happened to look right at me; then I would crack a smile like a little schoolgirl who just got a Barbie or something lol. I keep to myself for the most part and I'm sure there are others like me.
truehappiness 6th January 2009 02:00 AM
Generally, when making a DVD, they'd probably focus on the people who seem to be having the most fun.. so you might get that impression if you were watching a DVD vs. some live concert. I mean, just look at the pre-encore footage for Ayu concerts.. it's usually mainly made of people clapping to the music and dancing around. lol.
jbrat2219 6th January 2009 02:01 AM
jimex289 (sorry, too lazy to quote)
^ But you would AT LEAST smile, right? People don't have to jump, shout and cry... but they really did not look like they were enjoying themselves at all! But I guess when there are one or two people next to you freaking out and bouncing around, even if you're simply watching, you can look extremely bored hahaha.
Tony G 6th January 2009 02:04 AM
The thing is we would appreciate it more because it is harder for us to see her live, whereas people in Japan can see her live everytime she does a tour, and this is probably less exciting. But if I was at an Ayu concert, the last thing I would do is stand around. I'd at least sing along, scream like a dickhead and jump and dance for sure.
