It's good it's back and doing well in the charts. For a Double A-side with 1 PV I think it's going great :D

I can see you really dislike the movie already! Hahaha, oh well just Ayu's luck~

R/S out from top 50

jbrat2219 14th April 2009 07:03 PM

Awww... Out of the top 50 already? I'm not too surprised.

rookies 15th April 2009 12:47 AM

Sucks that it is out of Top 50. :/

hikaricore 15th April 2009 02:50 AM

^Agreed, although it's chances of charting well were totally killed by NEXT LEVEL's announcement.
Why buy the single if you can buy the album, right?

SolarAngel 15th April 2009 07:15 PM

^Adding to the ayu collection, remixes and instrumentals... Not enough to entice me though. I was hoping riozz or ayumisrael could get the figures somehow haha...

Chef+Vanny 19th April 2009 04:21 AM

has R/S stopped charting?

MissElin_ 19th April 2009 10:00 AM

I wonder how it will look like in the end of 09. But for now its a good place! ^^

tokyoxjapanxfan 19th April 2009 10:08 AM

seeing as it's only april, i'm sure it will move down the list a lot by the time 09 ends, haha. but as for now, it did pretty well, seeing as the album was announced and all. I guess i didn't have super high expectations for it anyway xD

TITANIC 19th April 2009 11:47 AM

At least it will stay on top 50 after the end of 2009, hopefully

seems that way to me, 11 after almost one fourth of the year will stay top 50 unless theres an surreal amount of well selling singles, and ayus next single will sell better, anyway

SolarAngel 19th April 2009 06:41 PM

^The sales this year must be quite pathetic for Rule to be no.11. Then of course, there was the monster of arashi's single selling half a million. It was mentioned that NL is no.7 for the first 4 months of the year too. Wonder which popular artiste might release this year.

rakeru 19th April 2009 10:02 PM

^ how can anyone keep doing that?! blows my mind.

at least R/S had a good run for such terrible circumstanes. Ayu should have included a track on the single that wouldn't be included on the album to help sales.

Emperatriz Ayumi 20th April 2009 12:08 AM

I hope she will sell more copies...

lol ARASHI's Believe / Kumori Nochi , Kaisei is already aiming for 625K now Elaine & something tells me that they might be getting the #1 & #2 on the yearly singles chart AGAIN when they released their next single Ashita no Kioku / Crazy Moon ~Kimi wa Muteki~ next month on 27th

TITANIC 20th April 2009 05:26 PM

I doubt if D/G can be pushed out from top 40. at least like MW at #33 at the end of 2008
D/G is pretty good in chart
no one female singer outsell it so far

SolarAngel 20th April 2009 06:33 PM

I think the fact that R/S sold less than 1k is a sign that it will stop charting soon. Nice run and hope it stays in top 50 annually.

To Karen: Yeah yeah, I'm sure arashi will release with a bang AGAIN. You know how Wiki claim ayu once accounted for 40% of avex's profit? I think arashi is doing that for JE now. Not even KATTUN is selling very well. Only Arashi.

R/S did well for a single considering that it was released a month before NEXT LEVEL was released so hats off to it

:yes

KAT-TUN has more or less lost their peak when comes to single/album sales (I STILL LOVE THEM THEIR MUSIC ROCKS OK) . They don't have the same selling power as they once had when they finally were able to debut 3 years ago with a BIG BANG (7 editions of their debut single Real Face anyone ? :dead2)

But it's fine since as time goes by , their music just keeps getting better & their new album Break the Records -by you & for you- is already shaping up to shoot straight to my fave album of the year list once again just like last year's KAT-TUN III -QUEEN OF PIRATES- :smitten

Unlike their koukai's KAT-TUN , ARASHI took a good 8-9 years to get to where they're which's a very rare sight in the Jpop music scene . It's not often you see an artiste who has been around for 10 years & they only manage to hit it big only just last year in which their hard work has definitely paid off big time

I noticed too that KAT-TUN album sales seem to be going down quite a bit. I'm not a big JE fan, but I thought KAT-TUN were like the most popular group right now, so I was surprised to see that QUEEN OF PIRATES album didn't even break 300k. At least Ayu can keep up with them in albums cause NL already beat that. I think it's weird cause some of their singles sold up to like 400k and Ayu's now sell in the 100-200k range. :conhuh Also, I think R/S had a pretty good run considering the circumstances. Glad to see it did better than peeps thought it would. :D

yeah I was very upset that QoP didn't break 300K which sucks because it's such an amazing album & it was the 1st full length Johnny's album that I listened to & I have to say it's 1 of the best if not the best original album that I have heard last year , Johnny's wise

that's the thing with Johnny's bands

they can sell a LOT for singles but can barely do squat when comes to albums

it's always the norm for them , I rarely see a Johnny's band that can sell a lot for albums & little for singles .

In fact probably never at this day & age

MissElin_ 21st April 2009 08:37 AM

Times are changing, the sales will never be like they was back in the time. (if Japan wont do like in Sweden, since ipred and piratebay the CD sales have gone up 30%...)

Anyway, the sales always kicks down with time in physical sales. I think we should take more note on is the physical sales and the digital together. I mean, Ayu keeps her #1 spot and that is still kickass! :D

Chef+Vanny 21st April 2009 01:24 PM

130k is satisfying for me :D

Lanz16 21st April 2009 01:27 PM

Most of the top placers are from JE.
After I watched the debut PV of those guys, no doubt that they had this strong appeal and charisma to their music and to their image compare to Ayu.

Spoiler:

And surprisingly, Ai no mama de was the only female single to chart and undered other JE artists.

In Ayu's case on R/S, even though it has low sales, it gets the #1 spot though.
Its a good thing to be appreciate the single's performance even it was paired on a "flop" movie. :rolleyes

I think it will surpass B&D....

tokyoxjapanxfan 21st April 2009 02:02 PM

it's kinda like last year when Aoyama Thelma released Soba ni Iru ne & Soba ni Iru ne was #1 for the 1 1/2 of the year

maybe the same thing's happening again right now to Ai no mama de . The whole sleeper hit issue's pretty cool

I did the same thing though. I loved GREEN and Days seemed too boring. Now it's the other way around. After the PV I need some time to cool off from GREEN, even though I'm still humming it at work :tipsy

I like to think that the remixes helped R/S sales but three versions was horrible :shakehead

lmao

if you think 3 versions of a single's bad , how about 4 & let alone 7 *points to KAT-TUN's DON'T U EVER STOP & Real Face*

:dead2 & yours truly bought all 4 editions of DUES -_-'''

SolarAngel 23rd April 2009 03:49 PM

I also liked GREEN from the first listen but Days seemed so mundane but it has grown a lot on me since. My friend said it's the Japanese culture to have so many varieties. If they see only 1 version, it's sort of like a turn off... Utada Hikaru CDs seem to be immune to this theory though.

I think 3 versions for R/S is quite standard. Now the USB thing for NL seems like a gimmick but a very beautiful and practical gimmick. Everyone could use an USB.

tokyoxjapanxfan 24th April 2009 06:08 AM

i dont think the remixes helped rule/sparkle...the remixes were awful...(the scoustic ones arent, i mean the others). i hate them so much hahaha i havent been able to even listen to them...

Yumsushi 24th April 2009 07:17 AM

I personally LOVE Green's CMJK remix and Rule's 80 Kidz. Infact they were so awesome that I had to have Version C. I thought the acoustic ones were boring.

jbrat2219 24th April 2009 07:56 AM

But nothing compared to her sales a few years ago(even if you calculate with the declining sales), for ayu, its nothing, a single seeling under 100k from ayu is just ...o.0...o.0...o.0

I used to think that to, especially when i saw the drop in sales between Rainbow and Memorial Address singles. But even when she was selling very well, she would sort of like get top 20-50 for singles sales and top 10 for albums on an annual basis. So relative to everyone else, she's still on top of the rankings, at least for albums. I agree that even if you compare relativity, she's not as popular as before but the drop is not THAT big if you look at it from this perspective. It's just my opinion :)

~X2RADialbomber~ 27th April 2009 03:05 AM

Singers in America have been selling terribly for a while now as well. Singles that sell 30k in the first week can still expect to get around #2 on the chart - that should show you the extent to which sales have declined heavily in Japan.

her sales always decline year by year. if in 2005 B&D could sell 86K and R/S could sell 95K in first week, then at least R/S should sell higher than B&D because the opening sales is so promising.if it's 130K for total sales then the normal opening week should be less than 80K. it's mean Ayu's sales decline very quick after 1st week

njanjayrp 3rd May 2009 11:35 AM

I guess it's final sales would be around 131k which is quite good. The debut sales were prolly better that B&D/Pride due to the fact there were 3 ver. Plus maybe people simply decided to buy it on it's first week. Just cuz it's debut sales were better than B&D/Pride's and it didn't manage to outsell it doesn't make it less successful. It's one of the best selling female singles this year.
