I don't give a crap about Johnny's or wherever what's-his-face is from.

I just want the woman to release a new freaking album. I mean, it's not that it's been forever - TRICK hasn't even been out a year, and I can wait much longer - but she has plenty of single tracks to use on the next album already. Enough singles. It's album time. I somehow foresee this becoming another Black Cherry situation (stylistically-disjointed album with a crapload of pre-released single tracks).

Well probably a week or two after the next single she will release a new album (like it was with anytime that was limited), probably they wanted her to make a lot of "hits" for the next album because non of the singles were popular (even digitally). So 4 average- liked singles are better for an album than 2-3.

Even though her best songs this year were Physical thing and ECSTASY but the japanese were mainly for It's all Love! and a bit of Lick me...

And kuu will be on kohahku. ^^

BESTs usually don't get more than 1-2 singles tops (and a lot don't get singles at all, I mean besides that featured in studio albums single songs).

She will probably release a best a few months later or on Summer or Winter (December) 2010.
Next month is just her 9th anniversary.

If they were to release a best of, it might end up being the same was as first best things, with the first CD including the previously released singles on her old albums and another cd with the new ones, but I am not so sure if that'll happen. Knowing AVEX they might simply want to double the money by first releasing an album, which most likely won't sell more than 200-300k and then a best of :)

I don't think anyone would buy the new BEST album if it was just a compilation. They'd have to put re-recordings, new songs, and something rare on the DVD or just all the music videos, as well as a new music video. :yes

When it comes to Kumi and releasing "best" albums, avex doesn't really seem to care what does and doesn't make sense.

About this best nonsense, I think even Kumi has the sense to not release another one quite yet. XD Definitely expecting a regular album towards the middle of the year, right after this single.

Anyway, after Can We Go Back, we are more or less ASSURED that there would be a new album otherwise there would be wayyyyy too many single tracks in a future new album.

Why not? A COMPLETE only featured one new song and one re-recording and it was released just a year after A BEST 2. People who aren't interested in her albums, but occasionally like her singles will get it and that applies to all the best ofs.

first things has 3 Singles with 4 A-Sides [Butterfly/flower/Promise/Star], so i think after her 8th Album in i think February 2010, she will released 2 or 3 Singles and around 2010/12/06 when her 10th Anniversary starts her BEST ~3rd ... Album~!
And her next BEST album will look like this and there's enough space for 3 Singles!

i consider kuu to have 4 best albums. all of the ones that say "best" in the title. if BEST ~second session~ was supposed to just be another album it would be that, and wouldn't have "best" in the title.

FREAKY is definitely a pop song, mixed slightly with a hip-hop beat. Not traditional pop, but definitely not pure hip-hop, and no, not rock. I have to agree, Ningyo Hime is certainly her most rock-y song. Which is why I love it so very much. :heart Selfish is very rock influenced, too, though it too has pop-rock fusion elements. But it is rock, nonetheless. I wouldn't call it hard rock though, by any means.

I didn't know they had called Selfish "hard" rock, hah. So considering that, and the fact that they called Hashire! "rock," I won't get my hopes up too high for this next rock track, lol. :\ Just because it has guitar in it, that doesn't mean you take all the pop out of it. >_<

Not to be rude, but if it has the word "best" in the title, it's a best album, no matter what you consider it. And yes, for someone who has a 9 year career, 4 are too many. Not even including compilations. I just hope they don't slap the word "best" on an album for the sake of it. Besides, any "best" album she puts out any time soon would be pointless considering it would only contain a few recent songs. Maybe for her anniversary, she should go a different route. I think not having a best album for that year would be a lot less predictable.

i know that when she was talking about the tracks for TRICK, she said Hurry Up! would be a rock track like Ningyohime and FREAKY, so those are songs that are classified as "rock" but they're all rock-pop at best. Hashire! was called rock, too but it's like... summer pop rock. i hope i will like this new song, i don't like Hurry Up! or Hashire! much if that's the direction she's going for.

Best~Bounce and Lovers~ was her last (2007) and there are a lot of good songs and hits for the japanese public that aren't on a Best yet.

It's all Love!
Those are her five biggest hits since her last Best I'd say. And there are Cherry Girl, BUT, FREAKY, TABOO, I'll be there, Ningyo-Hime etc.
It's a good time for another Best and I wouldn't neccessarily say that the japanese public wouldn't like it. They loved Black Cherry and Kingdom as albums and both aren't on Bests with their best songs. :shrug

I don't really mind bests but to correct you.
Maybe it's a 9 years career but she had 4 bests in the period of 4 years (2005-2009). I'm not surprised that some people are sick of it since it's like a BEST for A YEAR since 2005, and next year she will release another best.

BEST ~second session~ was and is a best album.
The fact that all of the singles were new at that time it did feel like a studio album but it was a single collection album, was commercialized and marketed as a best, since it was a best. It's not like she would release all of those songs again on another best that could be called best. That's why ~second session~ is in fact a best and that's why it's from the ~first-second~ series. The next one will probably be ~10th anniversary~ or ~third something~. =P

There's probably little doubt that will be a compilation of some sort on her anniversary, but many of the songs you mentioned are singles. Why not a single collection? Does it really have to be a fifth best in 10 years?

But see, that's my point. Not all of her "best" albums are not necessarily her best yet they slap on the title anyway and that makes it a best album in her discography. If they didn't mean to make BEST ~Second Sessions~ a best album, they would have simply called it Second Sessions (or another title). If they didn't mean BEST ~BOUNCE & LOVERS~ to be a best album, they would have simply called it BOUNCE & LOVERS and it would have been a ballad themed compilation album. Same for OUT WORKS. So now if she came out with a best album for her anniversary, to me, it wouldn't be that special... it would seem as yet another excuse to slap on the word "best," even though I do think an anniversary is a valid reason to have one (that's what I meant by pointless, btw). Not to bring up Ayu, but for example, A BALLADS and A COMPLETE are not best albums but are compilation albums. If Ayu called them A BALLADS BEST or BEST~ALL SINGLES~, I would freak out as much about it as Kumi. It's most likely NOT Kumi's fault, but it's still annoying. I love her like hell though! And if she makes a anniversary BEST/compilation worth it, I most likely will suck it up and buy it since I have never bought one from her before!

Avex really needs to go all out on this; photobook, exclusive material on +DVD (maybe even a seperate 3DVD compilation of videos), beautiful packaging (maybe a box with a gold ribbon wrapped around, like a present or something, with Kumi's autograph on the front!), remastered audio, re-recordings of songs (e.g. a studio recording of TAKE BACK from LIVE TOUR 2007 instead of the original would be so hot), and of course a new song or two. :yes
