It's official, I like BALLAD much more than You were...
It has this Ayu feeling I missed lately and I really like the chinese influence in it.
It's a smooth ballad, nice one.

I just want to get across that when I say it LOOKS cheap, I'm not trying to say "OMG AYU, YOUR RICH SO BLOW MILLIONS ON EVERYTHING YOU DO." haha Because in actuality they probably did spend a pretty penny on it. But cost aside, I think it's pretty ugly. 'Cheap' is just a nicer way of saying it. But it's all opinion so...

And I definitely agree with you about this 'alan' girl. I don't even know who the heck she is, but I looked up her song and Ayu's BALLAD sounds nothing like it. :irked

I wish I could see through your eyes, because I don't know how this PV is ugly at all. I can see "low-budget" cheap more than I can see ugly anything LOL.

And the only song by alan I like and know of pretty well is her oriental one RED CLIFF. Which is probably my all time favorite ballad. But just because someone else does an oriental song doesn't mean it's "alan-ish." BALLAD sounds nothing like her music.

nemesisyume 7th December 2009 05:50 PM

the beginning BALLAD might be well a bit boring but at about halfway trough
it gets a lot better! so I like it.

jbrat2219 7th December 2009 05:54 PM

I love BALLAD, but I wish it were more depressing LOL!

That part is so gorgeous! Sounds like something off a Chinese film instrumental soundtrack lol.

GRACE 7th December 2009 06:29 PM

BALLAD is absolute garbage. I haven't hated an Ayu song this much since Beautiful Day. It's really dreadful, there's no emotion, I've totally heard the melody before, and her vocals suck.

Sorry Ayu, but you failed. You REALLY screwed up here.

:roflmao

The only thing I dislike about this song is the fact that the emotion in the lyrics are not portrayed in the song that well in my opinion. The song sounds like it could be about anything, mainly love, but not lost love. I was hoping for major emotion like in HEAVEN. This song doesn't make me cry or anything. But don't get me wrong, It sounds great and I love it! I just wish it were a little more raw and tear-jerking. It just sounds beautiful xD;

Ayumiko 7th December 2009 06:46 PM

BALLAD sound so much more beautiful in HQ...I love the instrumental especially the beginning, bridge, and end. I can't wait for the pv!

I think the opposite, when I first heard the clips I teared up because of her emotion. But I guess you either hear it or you don't, it's very clear to me and it makes me feel so sad for her, like she's about to cry while singing it. :(

aura~ 7th December 2009 07:08 PM

I still prefer You were... but BALLAD is good as well.. won't become my favourite BALLAD, but I love it's melody and arrangement *-* it sound so epic.. and I really feel emotion on it.. specially in the las part of the song... that her voice is sweet and soft doesn't mean there's no emotion... this song makes me really sad... :(

I wish I could feel that ;-;

I really do! Maybe it's something that will develop over time. Or in You were...'s case, I cried when I saw the PV so maybe BALLAD will be the same. :)

Kazeyomi 7th December 2009 07:23 PM

BALLAD is the perfect traditional chinese melody with an epic orchestra arrangement.
After some listenings her voice doesn't sound so awful like before. Ayu seems tell you a sad story with a gentle voice like Secret, but little bit more powerful than it.

Overall is a beautiful traditional ballad, and I love it :heart

amorphose 7th December 2009 07:31 PM

I think the people hating on BALLAD are on some sort of drug. xD Ah well, I hate the You were... PV and everyone else loves it so I guess to each his own, huh?

Anyway, I think BALLAD is GORGEOUS. I think it's her most emotional song in years. It actually brought tears to my eyes listening to it the first time. I haven't got teary eyed with an Ayumi song since Memorial address was performed live at AT03-04.

It's a beautiful and serene song. The adlibing after the final chorus gave me CHILLS. BALLAD totally pwns You were... in every aspect. I actually sort of dislike You were... after hearing how epic BALLAD is. :heart :heart :heart

TeddyGrahams 7th December 2009 07:41 PM

When did Ayu produce such mediocre songs and release them as lead singles? It's not new sounding and it's very uninspiring to listen to.

You Were... sounds nice, but it's very common sound for ayu. It's not very distinct and gets repetitive by the second half. This is the first time that a pv makes me dislike the song to some extent.

Ballad, although sounds nice at times, is too bland. The previews were promising, but the entire song wasn't as powerful because there isn't a good transition between any of the parts. The melody is forgettable too. Maybe the PV will help me like this song better like days.

It's like she took a step back in musically, de-evolving, instead of re-inventing like Next Level. At least days was new for her, even though it's a generic ballad in the Jpop scene and sounds a million times better. Overall this single is way worse than Sunrise/Sunset for me. I think I'm going to cancel my orders now.

No wonder they changed this single release's date against that guys.

Chibi_Venus 7th December 2009 07:47 PM

Alright, I've only got an opinion for the "You were..." PV.

Spoiler:
Wow. Just, wow. Wow, wow, wow. :heart :heart :heart

The old Ayu is back!

I'm absolutely loving the symbolism that is being used. Not saying I understand it, but there's something to be interpreted from this PV; it's not just Ayu walking around or standing on a platform and singing, looking all pretty with over-exaggerated lip-synching. Even the style of the PV is just wonderous!

I'm really digging the light up dress. Soooo much better than the "walking proud" dress from the 2005 tour. X3

The song itself is very, very nice. I'm very impressed. :)

Rurutia 7th December 2009 08:18 PM

i think ballad sounds beautiful...it is most definietely not trash. I definetely like it more than you were.....her vocals in ballad are amazing, they sound so soft. this single should have been ballad/you were....

they orchestra sounds amazing in this song as well

Not~Yet 7th December 2009 08:51 PM

She uses her voice amazingly in BALLAD imo... :heart The final notes really are the icing on top of the cake. I'm also seriously in love with the chorus melody... :laugh And the arrangement is so soft and sorrowful at the same time, beautiful! I really agree with those of you who describe it as epic. I say this song really goes there on the line with her greatest ballads. :yes

SunshineSlayer 7th December 2009 10:35 PM

Now that I have heard the high quality version of Ballad, I will comment. Honestly, I can't believe this is being billed as a double A-side. It's pretty, yes. But it is also boring. And boring is rarely a word I use to describe an Ayu song. Even the ones I'm not too crazy about, usually I don't find boring.

You Were's PV so far is the best thing about the single.

another lol

hidekirby 7th December 2009 11:16 PM

BALLAD is just ****ing amazing! It's been since the release of Sparkle I haven't really been impressed by one of her song. The arrangements are magnificent, yet very well controlled. The verses are discrete but not as boring as in HANABI or Dolls IMO. The title really fits the song...

So BALLAD is pretty good, You were... is fine with a nice PV, covers OK... Hope BALLAD's PV will also be good and RED LINE too (well if RED LINE is bad I won't be upset!). Best single since... a while!

PoetGirl 7th December 2009 11:16 PM

I JUST LOVE BALLAD. :)

yuki_unmei 8th December 2009 12:26 AM

BALLAD is so beautiful! :luv2
i was hoping this song wouldn't be another oriental-style one 'cause i don't like her others that much, but i absolutely love BALLAD.
her voice is so emotional and sad, and the music is gorgeous. i like this better than You were...
i hope the PV is as beautiful as the song is :yes

jiarongisme 8th December 2009 02:07 AM

After reading the interpretations, I really like the PV more now! And I now understand what's going on with the trees. XD

I just heard BALLAD. It's so beautiful! I love it! It sounds better in full definitely. :yes

AyuWorld 8th December 2009 03:06 AM

ok,the beginning and the ending just give me a goosebumps! i'm sooo in love with it :luv2 Ayu's voice blend beautifully..listening to BALLAD makes me feel like i'm watching another epic film by jackie chan or jet li! :D this song is very epic!

now, just hoping that the PV is going to be epic too :P

alternarist 8th December 2009 05:10 AM

oh yes.. i bet this song will never be performed.. Just like Will (unless another PCDL occurs again). It's just a feeling..

Ayumi_lover 8th December 2009 05:30 AM

^ I think it will be performed this CDL. Will didn't have a PV.

DA1SUK1DAY01691 8th December 2009 05:37 AM

I think until the single is actually released, I have wavering opinions on both songs. I actually like BALLAD, she's doing something right with her voice there. It seems like ever since we found out she had Meniere's, her voice has been deteriorating rapidly. o.O

I'm VERY interested in viewing BALLAD's PV now.

-----

After a re-listen to both You were... and BALLAD, I conclude this single is DAMN strong. I actually find both to have their own charm points, such as You were...'s incredible lyrics, stylizing, and soaring voice, while BALLAD has sultry vocals and classical Asian appeal. I'd say it's like Days/GREEN Part II, with a lot of evolution I think.

It's just a matter of what RED LINE will be like. :D

-----

With even more listening, I realize the two songs really match each other well. :)

My last edit, I promise! :P

theSKYBLUETIES 8th December 2009 05:55 AM

i love this single. :] go ayu!

bluegie 8th December 2009 06:31 AM

I said this in the news section, but I guess I should post my feeling towards both songs in this thread instead.

I like You were.... It's an ayu-style song to me. I dun like BALLAD at all. Probly my background is Chinese, so I dun really think ayu's voice matches with songs arranged in Chinese style. That is part of the reason I didn't like GREEN at all (another reason is the horrible pv). I prefer songs like part of Me, which has a hint of old Japanese feeling, and that really matches her.

Yeah that's my feeling towards BALLAD, nothing against people who love this song :).

Keiichi_JPU 8th December 2009 11:51 AM

You were... [song]
Incredible. It's powerful, it's sad, it's just a beautiful song. And the bridge just gives me goosebumbs! This is her best ballad since the GUILTY era imho.
I love it

You were... [pv]
Cheap, boring. I really don't like it :( It just looks like the director didn't have a budget to edit the PV after filming it, everything still looks cheap.. I'm very disappointed, I'd rather watch Sunset.. lol

BALLAD [song]
Really pretty as well! Seriously, music-wise, this single is pure brilliance! BALLAD is beautiful.

I really hope BALLAD will have a stunning PV, like JEWEL!

Maemi 8th December 2009 12:29 PM

I love BALLAD :heart

waterballoon 8th December 2009 03:44 PM

I love BALLAD, seriously. It just reminds me a little of part of Me, which is another gorgeous song.

I love how the song builds up... I can't believe I said there wasn't much of a climax in this song, when though the climax wasn't that "big", the build up to it was amazing.

The arrangement was really beautiful as well... just love this song to death!

And I gotta say, BALLAD does remind me of some of alan's songs; not because of anything, but because of the oriental sounds... it's much stronger here than in other Ayu songs (Will, part of Me, theme of a-nation '03 etc had more of a Japanese sound, and GREEN's oriental feel was very mild to say the least).

I can see this fit so well into the Chinese period drama... I may hate the drama and the tie-in in general, but it's really fitting, so.. ^^

And did I mention how much I LOVE Ayu's voice in BALLAD? She sounded so vulnerable... like it just makes you sad, and towards the end, I envision this Ayu like in the momentum PV where she just dissipates into snow...

This! :( I never would have thought I'd exactly, perfectly agree with every single thing you'd say in a post, Sunshine, but this is that post! :headache If BALLAD were a B-side I'd be more supportive of it, but it's just not good enough to be a leading song, no matter how pretty it is. I really don't understand why some people LOVE it sooo much more than You were... :dead2 Maybe because you're hyped up on BALLAD, since You were... isn't new anymore, ah hah..? :innocent

Maybe people like it because it's soft and vulnerable and that reminds them of the old Ayu? :shrug

I like it, not more than You were... they're about equal. But I can see how BALLAD can be boring, I think the interesting Chinese arrangement (especially from 3:05 - 3:54 as someone mentioned) kind of saves the song for me. I get your point though, I can see how this should have been a b-side. Like I've said a few times before, if this song were just darker I think it would have been better.

It's okay hunny.

I don't really understand it either...then again, they both seem along the same line of "below average" to me lol

And man...all this talk about differing tastes, I'm just waiting for the day when someone tells someone the forbidden phrase: "well, you have bad taste." :laugh

@noidea: Yeah...I think it's interesting how Ayu seems to be getting younger and less mature with age lol Maybe she's going senile.

TeddyGrahams 8th December 2009 11:27 PM

^ I agree with you emiko. Both of these songs are below average for me and I usually LOVE every ballad released by ayu.

This is like days/GREEN II except way less catchy. I also think Ballad should be a bside.

Don't anyone else felt like the lyrics were too amazing, but ayu fail to deliver in these songs? And the arrangement/music is off? Like listening to the lyrics, the songs don't feel as Sad as they should be, or is it just me?

Anywayz, I do agree that both songs are quite below average in her discography (well probly not so for You were..., but like Sunshine said, BALLAD should be a B-side instead). I kinda wish she would do something similar to Voyage (not exactly I want a Voyage-part II- blah blah blah).

At least I do feel for You were..., it's better than s/s...

Beauty4123 9th December 2009 12:05 AM

i love BALLAD and you were... equally. they are both such good ballads, IMO. i'm very satisfied with ayu! i've also enjoyed all her singles of the year (the only song i would really dislike is "sunset" :P) so i'm very happy.

I have to agree. I don't want to be a whiner, but I really have to agree.

It's not that bad for You were..., but BALLAD is really lacking in something "epic"; the lyrics have that, but the song doesn't.

But at least for me, her vocals in these two songs save everything. They convey just the right emotions imo, so I don't mind the little flaws here and there.

AyUta 9th December 2009 01:44 AM

I feel the opposite of that. I think everything matches up perfectly. In BALLAD the lyrics are beautiful/sad, the instrumental sounds beautiful/sad, and ayu's voice is beautiful/sad. So everything matches up and just makes it beautiful (and sad) :P. With You were... the lyrics are quite dramatic and so is the instrumental, and ayu's voice sounds like she's having an emotional fit, which is dramatic as well, so it all really fits to me.

I just hear struggling vocals in You Were and no emotion in BALLAD. I guess I hyped this single too much. After reading the lyrics when they're first released, I thought the songs would be darker and more emotional than these. I still like You Were... but not to the extent of buying the single.

I completely LOVED You were...! But the video was a huge disappointment!! What was with the teddy bear and the robots?? I loved her dress though. I listened to Ballad and i completely fell in love with it! It was so amazing! I love her voice when there is an orchestra in the background! It was simply amazing!!

The 3:54 - 4:58 mark in BALLAD is still giving me chills. Absolutely epic. :heart

4:42 - 4:58 is just the most gorgeous though. Her voice is absolutely haunting. The emotion is so raw and genuine. :heart :heart :heart

apple-pi 9th December 2009 05:00 AM

Are we sure that track is a different version of You were... with a music box arrangement?
Cuz when I first saw the tracklist, I thought it would just be a normal music-box version of the song... as in, no vocals.

ayu_ready? 9th December 2009 01:40 PM

I liked the PV for You were...mainly because it was smth fresh and new and unusual for ballad
it had concept, and some atmosphere. I don't like the song tho, because it's typical/boringm but the PV is very very good, imo

BALLAD sounds like Will, and I luv such songs, actually. they have that ethnic & powerful feeling. or epic. whatever, BALLAD better had been the title track, I mean, the main, not You were. probably it wasn't done so because it would resemble alan. buuuut Ayu is much..well, I won't compare :)

previously, the title for the tracklist was re-take version.so,we assume she re-record that song again

I absolutely adore You were... and BALLAD! They are so wintery and ballad-y, and they just really get me in the holiday mood :D

The pv for You were... was kind of weirdish, but I still liked it, and OHMIGOSH I can't wait for my copy of the CD to come! :D

Mirai Noah 9th December 2009 07:04 PM

I like both You were... and BALLAD, but they aren't my favorite Ayu songs/ballads. They both lack a little... oomf.

SpiceSquad! 10th December 2009 01:21 AM

Loving You were 100%

and BALLAD is AMAZING...

at last a single that i love...

Zeke. 10th December 2009 06:15 AM

Ok, here I go:

I really don't like this single.

Days was absolutely astounding. People moan and complain that the melody was so "generic" and "boring". I thought it was a perfect song. Really easy to listen to and addicting. Very catchy.

You were... just seems so... forced. It's one of those song that COULD HAVE BEEN really good, but failed. And an "ok song that could-have-been-amazing" is much worse than just an "ok song". The verses are nice, but the chorus seems very (excuse me for using this word again) forced. It just doesn't blend well. All of a sudden, Ayu's belting out and SHOUTING (as I have heard other people describe it too). I do love the ending and that part after the bridge when the instrumentation goes soft and Ayu's voice is left before it kicks in again. But honestly, I prefer "Close to you" over this.

BALLAD is somewhat boring as well. It sounds like the theme for a movie, but not really something I would listen to a lot. Too "dramatic" yet leading nowhere.

I am not one of those people who put-down everything Ayu releases. I always have the best expectations, while trying not to expect too much. Seriously, I wasn't expecting something TOO amazing as I figured that'd be almost impossible considering how much of a God-send Days was to me last year. Like the perfect Ayu song I had been waiting for. But "You were.../BALLAD" seems like they tried too hard. If it wasn't Ayu, I wouldn't think twice about the songs.

Sorry Ayu! You're still so HOT and I love you forever! Lol.

Here's to hopes for a good album at least...

ayu_ready? 10th December 2009 05:55 PM

I don't get the whole "oh Days is great and one of Ayu best ballads" because, actually, I think she reached the limit, how I can call it otherwise, of good ballads, seriously, probably in 2005 and MY STORY was the last album with good, quality ballads

then goes Pride (but it's by GEO) and surely HEAVEN but that's all...

I think Days & You were...are basically the same in terms of...well, both boring/typical, but has great PVs. I only maybe liked them a bit because of the PVs, and the PVs somehow make the songs memorable, otherwise, I would just skip them

just watched the preview CM. mmm, I like BALLAD more & more & more
haven't seen such a PV in long time. reminds forgiveness for a while :)

so I prefer BALLAD. better arrangement and music and even more beatiful PV

anyways, it's a nice single. not best/epic but nice. better then Sunrise in terms of PVs & covers for sure, but kinda still on the same level of music. I'd rather go for smth..."innovative"? oh, I don't know. I just want more complicated music or whatever

Andrenekoi 10th December 2009 06:06 PM

^Well, considering that Secret, Together When, Green, Pride, Rainy Day and Curtains Call are some of her best ballads IMO, I disagree xD

But considering that IMO Carols and No Way to Say are boring as hell and sound pretty much alike, maybe I just should be ignored xD

4:42 - 4:58 is just the most gorgeous though. Her voice is absolutely haunting. The emotion is so raw and genuine. :heart :heart :heart

This!! In HQ it will be even better, I'll probably cry. :(

Yep and it seems like some people have forgotten about RED LINE too :laugh. There's still those + the orchestra version of Sunset to look forward to (oh yeah, and the alternate covers for the single too). This single has so much new stuff, I love it.

amorphose 10th December 2009 08:41 PM

After seeing the clip of the BALLAD PV in the CM, I think I'm really going to love it. It looks a million times better than the atrocious You were... PV.

i believe this is because we all love her darker side of songs rather the one she's producing-Days,You were...
The feeling when i'm listening to pride, heaven and so on the you've mentioned always make me very sad and in anger while Days and you were... make me feel sad BUT calm, not as emotional as pride, heaven etc.
she's know found the 'light' and came out from the 'dark',so,i don't really expect her to go back to the dark anymore :no

Andrenekoi 11th December 2009 01:46 AM

^I don't love her dark side at all... I'm happy if she is releasing what she feels like to... even if I dislike it

Tom Punks 11th December 2009 01:47 AM

I just watched BALLAD's PV.

OMG EPICAKJGAKLJSD AMAZING ASKDJGAKLSDJGKLA BEST PV EVERRRRRR.

Seriously, that was like the best thing she's done since JEWEL. ;___; I thought I would never think any of her PVs were GOD again but this is just like the bestttttttttt. <333333 It was absolutely perfect! It even made me like the song. It waksdgjakjg! :D:D:D

GRACE 11th December 2009 01:50 AM

Seriously I'm so impressed with Ayu, I even love the song now <3

BALLAD totally feels like it belongs in a musical as a huge act closing number, and I LOVE that about it

ComatoseBunnySnatcher 11th December 2009 02:02 AM

I WANNA MARRY THE BALLAD PV!!!!!!

srsly, the best Ayu PV since like.... Part of ME/Marionette

tasking 11th December 2009 02:49 AM

Okay, one... the cats? Really? You make a set THAT beautiful and and then have Ayu and Shu-ya risking their lives for cartoon cats?

Two: anyone else think that the whole mailbox thing is a rip off of Heaven's Postman?

Other than that, OMG IT'S GORGEOUS!

dreamland2.0 11th December 2009 03:17 AM

The setting`s in Ballad`s PV are absolutely gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everything looks so darn beautiful!!!
I love it...
sure the plot is over used but the execution was wonderful!!!! Reminds me of her interlude videos from the concert tours!
Definitely one of my favourite Ayu PVs!!!

emi♡ 11th December 2009 03:27 AM

It's nice, and she looks nice...

but it's just generic to me...so I don't like it, both the song and the PV, and I think she should be beyond that. It's like something alan would do, and reminds me of something like Shin Sen ~Red Cliff~, except alan did it better.

But it does seem nice, just not for me, at all. I think I expect too much of her. Oh well.

The big plus is, she actually looked great in it.

amorphose 11th December 2009 03:29 AM

I LOVE the BALLAD PV! :heart It totally owns You were...'s PV hardcore! XD

It was so gorgeous. I think Ayu looked her best since AT08 or the BLUE BIRD covers. She was definitely absolutely gorgeous. The pink dress reminded me a bit of forgiveness for some reason and the little island she was on made me think of Ai Otsuka's Kingyo Hanabi PV. Also, at the person who mentioned Heaven's Postman-- I thought the same thing! haha

I'm not complaining though because this PV was absolutely amazing. Shuya didn't even bother me. His skunk hair is gone and he actually looked kind of good here! XD

I'm a bit confused though-- who was the postman? At first, I thought it was Shuya but then I thought it was Maro... and then I thought maybe it was Ayu? LMAO I couldn't tell cause it was so LQ.

I can't wait to get HQ screencaps of this video. :heart

And I want people's interpretations soon too-- even though it's pretty obvious, people always come up with a unique perspective on things. :)

hidekirby 11th December 2009 03:29 AM

BALLAD's PV could have been amazing... if it wasn't SO CHEAP... T_T
The field, the "city"... I remember some people thought that Startin' Pv was really cheap because it was a parody of American PVs... so BALLAD's one is another parody haha...!
Shuya is really fine in it (I've never liked him though).
And the cats... There is really no point showing them in animation... WTF? It's the only thing in animation, it's kind of gross...
Well it's a nice PV overall, I won't really complain after all the crappy PV she has done recently.
edit: I LOVE the "flowers" in her hair.

BALLAD's PV looks cheap? LOL I do agree the animated cats looked a little... yeah. But I think the budget on Ayu's eyeshadow for BALLAD was more than the whole budget of the You were... PV. XD

Haha :D
I didn't feel You were... PV was cheap at all... And I don't understand why... I don't know?
What looks cheap here are the CG effects... the whole "virtual city backdrop", the integration of ayu's little island in the air and so on... It's really : /
Maybe it looks better in HQ but I won't bet! :innocent

nanakopy87 11th December 2009 04:07 AM

i don't think CHEAP is the appropriate word to describe the PVs.
i don't understand why so many people complaint that ayu's stuff is so CHEAP nowadays.from AT09 performances, stages, clothings to you were and now,BALLAD also?
o.O

hidekirby 11th December 2009 04:13 AM

^Huh... apart from some of her PV, I never said something else was cheap actually... And people can have their opinions right? Some people might feel that ARENA TOUR 2009 / You were... PV were cheap, I don't, but I won't complain, just disagree...?
I could also say that I don't understand people who think that this pV is not cheap ahaha (kidding).

_CryingLikeAChild_ 11th December 2009 04:24 AM

Ballad PV was amazing!
I was hoping that it was going to be better then You Were ... :]
She looked amazing and the video was beautiful and sad.
For some reason when shuya is sitting behind all of the clocks waiting for the mail it makes me think of alice in wonderland XD I didnt even notice it was shuya until i read some of the comments on here. I definatley agree with amorphose, he looks much more better with his new hair.
Ballad definatley kicked You Were...'s but! To me the video seemed much more real.

love in music 11th December 2009 04:31 AM

The BALLAD PV is AMAZING. This kind of beauty should only be seen in HQ/HD though. The LQ is pissing me off.

i just curious to know that there is a number of comments bout ayu that is using the word CHEAP and i don't mean only you. :irked
ya.people have their own opinion and i think maybe we can use other word to state your opinion other than cheap?i think this actually insulting the whole crew, from the director, ayu, the video editor, the videographers and all other staff

emi♡ 11th December 2009 04:45 AM

Cheap? Oh no.

As my good friend tasking put it...Ayu's digital hair dye cost more than the entire You Were... PV.

AyuGAME 11th December 2009 04:45 AM

people that complain about BALLAD PV, you are kidding right? i willl defend this pv until my last blood in my body...
i will speak up for this PV...i'm tired reading complain in this forum, i keep silent for this whole time...but this time...i won't

hiroshi_ben 11th December 2009 05:02 AM

ballad is definately one of ayu's best video in these few years~!

i love her pink outfit and the whole storyline!its like watching a movie to me!haha

hidekirby 11th December 2009 05:05 AM

Calm down everybody -_- "
For me it really looked "cheap". As I said it may be different in HQ... And I don't think it's insulting at all...
I would have prefer watching the video without telling myself "that doesn't work" yet I couldn't help but noticing something wrong it's like that...
Hope I'm wrong and you're all right though. I will see.
I still like the video even if CG effects are killing a bit the whole thing.

Well I thought "shuya" and "nice" could never be in the same sentence but I put them together ;) .

emi♡ 11th December 2009 05:10 AM

okay I take it back....this is the BEST PV EVER.

ownsarai 11th December 2009 05:15 AM

People are throwing the word cheap around a lot lately. To me, this PV does not look 'cheap' at all. I'd really like a REAL explanation on how it looks cheap to you? Besides the animated cats (which weren't really that bad anyway, imo), what exactly looks cheap here?
I think this PV is the best Ayu PV in a long time. She looks gorgeous, and Shu-Ya looks really nice with his hair one color, he should keep it that way. ;)
10/10 (despite the LQ-ness of it)

Lol go for it. I'm just going to sit back and laugh at whoever complains about it, kind of like how I laughed a long, long time at the person who said the song was garbage.

mcluva420 11th December 2009 05:29 AM

woo~! BALLAD PV!!!
The CM was more epic though LOL
she looks absolutely beautiful & gorgoeous :heart
Shuya didnt do so bad :) i liked how he was also the dark masked mailman :yes
the cats part was kinda random...dislike that part -__-
I actually sorta understood this pv<3
oh my god, its like her ViVi hawaii (i think) + GREEN/Days in motion!! :D

my interpretation.
1. Shuya is dead. Hes in hell, and Ayu is in heaven sending letters to him and hes sending letters too.
2. Ayu is trying to reach him because hes in a coma.
3. Shuya is trying to reach Ayu during his a coma, but fails? :shrug
4. Ayu and Shuya are BOTH tryna reach each other :yes
5. shuya is trapped in his a coma world, but i think hes dead =P
6. the last hospital scene relates to the whole PV :)
7. This is about being in a coma while you're in love...

No the animated part seems really well made. It's the use of animation just for the cats that bothers me a bit.
What looks cheap/seems to be cheap is the integration of the island in the air (and the saturated color of the grass/water), the field which doesn't look real at all (yet I'm fine with this because it isn't a "real" field in the PV, kind of an imaginary one). And it is mainly the city part which seems... "incredible".
