For me, I don't like ANYONE to watch Ayu's performance or pv with me. I don't want they know how excited I am whenever I watch the vid. For me, it's not really that embarrassing. It's just personal reason.
And also, I sometimes kinda copying what Ayu's doing. So, I don't want anyone to know that almost everything I'm doing was copying her. They'll think that I am really copying her. I don't want they know about it :P But I love to play Ayu's songs in front of others. Just not the perf or pv. |
^ yeah i also dont wish to watch or listen to anything ayu when i have my friends around me. After all, majority of my friends dislike ayu so i wouldnt want to give them a chance to insult ayu in any way.
However, i will be more open to my friends who are in love with Jpop. i will tell them funny things that happen to ayu. |
why are so many people embarrassed/ashamed? I would proudly watch/listen to ANY Ayu stuff and not care what people think. When people say 'omg that is weird' or whatever I just say 'and...? get over it' lol

I am uncomfortable at the thought of anyone watching anything Ayu-related with me (except my boyfriend, who I converted many years ago)
My sister seems to hate it when I play, or suggest playing Ayu in the car. The usual responses have been "It sounds like gibberish/How can you enjoy that, you can't understand it/Is that alien-speak?" She's rather closed minded to begin with, but it's a shame because I've always wanted to have someone in my family to share my fandom with. My mom and dad were very supportive of me seeing her at AT08. I gave them a very compelling speech as to what she meant to me and have sent them pictures (my mom thinks she's beautiful!). But I have never worked up the nerve to play the music in front of them. My dad just, doesn't really listen to music in general (I know, strange, but that's how he is :shrug) and I just feel like it'd be really awkward either way. I've thought of putting together a DVD with some favorite PVs that include english subtitles, and perhaps the CNN interview, but have never gotten around to it. Quote:

I don't have any issues with her PVs
Though some of her "cute" lives are very disturbing, specially for non-fans :laugh |
I don't have a problem with showing my friends Ayu, most of them have really enjoyed watching her - especially the live performances! It's more the extent of my Ayu love thats embarassing around them, my hotel stalking in London is a running gag!
My family also, I watched AT07 with my mum and sister, my mum really enjoyed it - especially M and appears. My sister enojyed uh... the leather dancers in 1 LOVE/until that Day... Not really embaressed to show them stuff, when RnRC came my mum wanted to see the poster and CD! People generally, such as people in my year, have a very "uuh...what?" reaction to Ayu and Jpop - but I wouldn't show them it anyway, I have no need to. I'm not going to force something I like on somebody I don't even speak to! I also don't care about watching her stuff around them, it's not like the videos make me look like a pervert or anything in comparison to what they listen too! So, no, I'm not embaressed to watch Ayu around other people! |
The performances of Greatful Days in a-nation 2004 and Bpys and Girls in the previous a-nation
|
Some of the music I really love feels so personal to me that I feel uncomfortable listening to it with other people around and Ayu's music is some of it, mostly her deep songs and ballads.
But then there are PVs like Sparkle that people just shouldn't know I watch xD |
Sparkle. Even I get embarrassed watching it by myself.
|
I played Sparkle when a friend of mine was around, "She said what the hell are you watching, a S&M video?... I was like NO and besides you watch dirtier things than I watch.
I mostly don't feel embarrassed watching/listening to any Ayu related stuffs around my friends because they're used to it and I always tell them off like "Eww you listen to k-pop that makes you worse than me" (Yes, I'm biased) |
um... the... her performance of Depend on you and Fly high in AT08.. i was like watching in front of one of my guy friends and he was like... What the hell??

still in front of parents and classmates, i will not be watching, Sparkle or 1 LOVE or my name's WOMEN. although i find when ayu may seem to be "sexy" its more like "scary" |

here in my country someting embarassing is something CUTE, Childish or too cheese
couse rock and weir things are conssidering COOL here. in my case something embarassing could be: Beautiful Fighters PV or any cute segment of her concerts. |
My mother and friends know of my Ayu fandom, and they enjoy it with me. My mother finds Ayumi absolutely gorgeous and is in love with "M" and "evolution". Additionally, she'll put on Ayu when cleaning the house (and she's alone), and we'll watch her lives together. :3 So there is no shame there.
And I have done an Ayu presentation in French class; I showed them Because of you, and my professor and class loved it. Admittedly, during the PV selection process, I did judge what could be potentially embarrassing and present a wrong first-look at Ayu, and decided that PVs such as Angel's Song and To Be were a big no-no. I really don't see the problem with Rainbow's PV though. :S |
definitely sparkle. I'd be laughed out of school if that got around on my psp or something. sex + bondage + bdsm + me wearing a paper bag over my head and never returning to school. lol
|
Sparkle and Voyage >.<
Gotta skip direct to the song part if i'm watching Voyage lol... Cant stand the front part of the story... |
