True, but I can't understand why almost zero promotion were done for her latest single and Mini album. The sales were horrible, but might not have been. I don't get it.

She needs a big "woo" right now. Like the NANA animé was.

yeah but it's her NANA driven songs that drove me into listening to OLIVIA in the 1st place

I see how though , I mean I like Spiderspins so that's not so bad xD

& I guess for OLIVIA's case , it's only her material that's released though avex while other stuff are managed by her now ex management company Vision Factory

the same thing applies to EXILE & Namie too . Only their material's released on avex but management teams wise , it's not run by avex but in different management companies they're both under

but doesn't both the management company and the record label go together, though? like if an artist (OLIVIA) is dropped from their management, then that means they'll be dropped by the record label too, since their sorta like partners, like avex and VISION FACTORY is with some artists (like who you've mentioned: namie, EXILE, and even nana tanimura since she's also on VF, but her record label is SONIC GROOVE, which is another one of avex's sub-labels).

sorry to write so much, karen. with all this talk, it's gotten me a bit curious :P

err *ponders

I'm not very sure on that honestly , Lisa because I'm quite certain for some things , both parties will consult each other before a certain action will perform

then again it's possible what VF does , avex will not know about & vice versa

I think in such a situation , things can get quite complicated haha

the same thing goes for V6 too . Their material's released by avex but at the end of the day , they're tied down with the Johnny's talent agency

so maybe what's happening for V6 , you can use the same analogy on OLIVIA too in a way or 2

ah sorry my answer's not that of much help/value D:

I should probably do some research about this matter as this has not crossed my mind on how things goes & all until now x)

I remember some artist this year that changed her management company but not her label, I just can't remember her name >.<

It's going to suck when they make a second season of NANA once the manga is finished and they'll have to find someone else to do Reira's music. O__O

Olivia was perfect imo.

visionfactory 12th August 2010 04:38 AM

So beautiful *_* It's OLIVIA with her sister hmm singing

Gotta admit I shed a little tear there. It's just...so perfect.

NintendoHTF1242 12th August 2010 08:30 PM

You think they'll look for someone else? The mangaka wanted OLIVIA specifically, and wouldn't allow anyone else to do the role

With the luck of animes today, Aya Hirano will probably do it herself if there's a NANA season 2 since she was Reira's Sieyuu. THAT'LL be horrible :(

visionfactory 12th August 2010 10:45 PM

^ that would be the worst thing :no

I hope....
1) NANA will revive OLIVIA's carreer again
2) OLIVIA will be signed to an indie label like her sister and sing the music style she wants ^_^

Okay the way it works (as I believe), is that a singer like Namie or EXILE who is signed to a management company is basically just using avex as their CD distributor. And what that means is that Vision factory is running the artists' entire career; they choose the producers they work with, what photographers/directors the artist works with, they plan the promotion, set release dates, handle all the finances, pretty much all the behind the scenes business things that we don't really see, everything that avex does for Ayu except in this case Vision factory is pulling the strings and avex has little say in how her career is run.

Now since vision dropped her, her career management is up in the air. Is she gonna move to a new firm? Is avex gonna decide to manage her themselves? Or is avex just gonna decide that she is not profitable enough and just drop her altogether? Who knows, we just have to wait and see.

And let me just say this, whoever was pulling the strings over there must have been on drugs or something because everyone knows mini albums don't sell like full albums do, so knowing that why would you release 7 mini albums? That would make anyone look unprofitable.

ohh, thank you so much for clearing this up for me! :P now i understand this situation bit more after reading your outlook on it :yes

OLIVIA has only released mini-albums in her career? i haven't heard much of her music so this is all new to me (i only know that Trinka Trinka was a mini-album since i heard that album at the time). i wonder why they didn't let her release full albums :shrug

Three. Synchronocity, The Lost Lolli, and OLIVIA Inspi' Reira (Trapnest). :)

Ugh, this new compilation album is scaring me ): Her last single came out in what, 2008? And now this best album comes out of nowhere and Livey still hasn't made any new songs :/ And after how avex tried to make Ayu retire with A BEST, I'm really worried for Livey now ): She's my 2nd favorite singer and I love almost everything she's done~ I really hope that, even if she gets dropped, she'll find another label and continue releasing music.

Avex tried to make Ayu retire? That would be really stupid of them, what was it, like when she was a million seller?

Exactly. It was NEVER stated that they tried to make her retire. I mean, retiring at her PEAK?? That's unheard of.

Avex didn't tried to make Ayu retire, it was Ayu who thought that Avex would drop her after the release of A BEST

Vision Factory already dropped her already
