Well, I have seen some pics of Ayu with a cigarette in her hands, but these pics are from years ago and also don't mean that she ever was or is a heavy smoker!

I'd like to think that because she seems almost frantic in protecting her voice, and giving the best voice possible, she has stopped all of these activities. After Microphone, I think she made a statement like "Okay I devote my entire life to music from here on out" kind of thing. Not that she didn't already, but this time it was really a strong strong statement, in that she stopped even drinking.

And you know what, in Japan, before stopping drinking, it would be more easier to stop smoking, because there is a society called like Alcohol Communication, where drinking is supposed to make communication much better. Personally, I think it's stupid, but still so many people practice it, so it's hard to get away from drinking. So what I'm trying to say is if she stopped to drink to the alcohol, then I'm sure she stopped to smoke the cigarettes.

If you overdoit yes it will affect your voice but
I don't think she's a chain smoker and an alcoholic.
We have seen photos and pictures where she's drinking and smoking and yes
Her voice has changed but by growing older your voice changes.
Therefore her voice has gotten deeper and we can assume is not by drinking and smoking.

I'm not a doctor and I don't you think are either but
is all common sense and therefore this post is a matter of opinion.

But actually, her voice still sounds like she was 10 or 15 years ago...

Ayu herself admitted she didn't take care of her voice before...
Smoking and drinking negatively affect the voice, no matter what's the amount you do.
Her voice has changed too much just to blame "Aging."
Aging doesn't make your voice sound like you are dying (HANABI at ANation 08 and AT08.)

Anyways, it's boring to talk about it now.

I really really love the A-Nation costumes this time.. it seems like Ayu is really on point this time, and it seems like she's back in charge of every aspect, like even with her voice... it's really refreshing and exciting.

Everyone changes differently but I'm not a doctor and I'm not an avid smoker.

Why do people always think her voice has changed because of alcohol and cigarettes? And Matsuda Seiko's voice has nothing to do with Ayu's voice. It's normal that your voice changes over the time and it's different how much you can hear it by every person.
For example: I watched an old video of my Mom from 15 years ago and I was like that: 0.0 because her voice sounded different than today (and yes, she doesn't smokes or drinks!)
Furthermore I think if Ayu enjoyes drinking or smoking from time to time she is allowed to do so. I myself drink or smoke from time to time at a party, what means once in one or two month. Thats not much and I really love it to have a good party. Like many people love to party. And if Ayu wants to have fun from time to time by drinking or smoking at a party I think she deserves it.
