I expected worse from the positions. Her DVDs haven't been selling all that well anyways lately. AT09 was the last really succesful one I think.

toniayu 27th March 2012 09:11 PM

almost the same as A CLIP BOX in its first week.Weird, considering that this one was much cheaper...

I feel like her DVD concerts ALWAYS so really well though...so this is surprising and disappointing.

Ayu's DVD sales always kinda sucked... In comparation to the ones like Namie or Koda she never did THAT well...

TeamAyu2004 27th March 2012 10:32 PM

i thought Rock n Roll and 50 singles did rather well...

Rock 'n' Roll Circus Tour sold a total of about 50k copies in a time when Ayumi's releases were more promoted. So 20k of this in it's first week isn't all that bad.

brener 27th March 2012 11:35 PM

not bad. i was expecting something like 2k for br and 10k for the dvds...

this.
That's why I'm not that shocked about these sales lol.

Namie's tours sell better? Hm, maybe since BEST FICTION but did they really sell that much better than Ayu before that? I remember downloading the Space of Hip-Pop Tour and it was so damn boring I never finished it. Ayu's tours are so theatrical, so much more powerful, and overall she has a better stage presence and connection with the audience, I believe.

Space of Hip-Pop 2005: 82k
Live Style 2006: 80k
Play Tour 2007: 128k
Best Fiction tour 2008: 286k
Past<Future tour 2009: 184k
Live Style 2011: 150k

Even when she was at her lowest, Namie always was regarded as a top performer... I prefer Ayu over her when it's about concert (and this is not even because of theatrics, I just think ayu has more presence and delivers more emotion), but as you can see, when it's about concerts, Namie's career was always pretty strong.

TeamAyu2004 28th March 2012 12:41 AM

I think also though the the DVD's are in correlation with how much the album sales...
like best fiction sold a ton, so naturally people who liked those songs would go out and buy the DVD for the tour which most of those songs where on...
its the same with ayumi... when her album sales go done, her DVD sales will go down as well.

Ayu concert DVD sales only went over 100k 3 times: Concert Tour 2000, Dome Tour 2001 and A Museum 2003... Most of the time she sold between 60k and 90k, even during the peak of the recording industry (1998-20001)...

Namie was selling over 80k with albums selling less than 500k and top acts where selling over 1 million...

Namie's DVD sales where always on a different level...

ayumisrael 28th March 2012 11:28 AM

I think that some of ayu's VHS sold 200,000+ though if I'm not wrong.
