Obviously since it's a survey it's also a popularity contest. Most people will just vote for their favourite artist. This explains with the Ai-Ayu-Kumi combo is always present in any ranking. Kumi's fashion sense isn't bad but I've gotta say that sometimes her stylist/s seem to choose the worst outfits for her.

Also YUI is probably the most typical girl-next-door person I've seen but she's always popping up here and there just because right now she's one of the hottest artists around.

^ Well depends. Her rankings on these kinds of things vary but she's usually a pretty popular artist and role model. Lately she's been getting a lot of high rankings on appearance related polls and lower rankings on music related polls. It's obvious that she's one of the few artists who have a fashion sense which is almost never crappy or boring. My guess is that Ayumi is becoming more appreciated on the looks department rather than on the musical aspect.

Well I would like that too but it's pretty hard to release something that is not too experimental and that is not too similar to her previous releases. I think she should start working again with musicians with whom she worked with in the past. Also a couple of collabs would definitely help. Kumi's management is smart and they keep a certain standard and retain interest in her by having a few collabs once in a while.

Also um.. Hikki has no fashion sense or anything. She's definitely not an idol and fashion is the last thing in her mind. Also her physical appearance doesn't really follow the ideal Japanese beauty. I don't mean to be rude but when seeing how most Japanese stars are skinny and Hikki doesn't seem the kind who would starve herself just to be a fashion role model.
