Someone please tell me what the object of cosplaying is. Do you just get a kick out of dressing up like some made-up character you've seen or is it something else?

I'm not sure what's the object of cosplaying. But I think it's just a hobby for the anime and manga fans. I guess otaku like to dress up like their favorite characters. Just for fun.

I cosplay... but I'm also American. In the US, we tend to cosplay for anime conventions. So yes, it's mainly to dress up like your favorite character. Also, most fans I know make their own costumes, so it's also a sewing hobby as well.

I wish there were anime conventions here. I'm not a huge anime fan, but it would be so cool to dress up like an anime character just for fun. I'd love to dress up like Sailor Saturn! LOL. Or a hardcore ganguro! HAHA.

It's always fun to see ELITE cosplay. The kind that looks even better than the original character designs.. :O [Except, Sailor Moon is a case where that.. never happens. XD]

I've done a few cosplays, but my best costumes are Murrue Ramius from Gundam SEED and Orihime Inoue from Bleach.
