^YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

paper_doll 8th August 2008 04:02 AM

I can't wait for it!

And, a friend sent me a link to an article that says, "Elle chantera aussi pour la cérémonie de fermeture des JO de Pékin." (She'll be singing at the closing ceremony for the Olympics.) No official confirmation yet, but I'd like to believe that's true :P

Oh, and I'm reading some articles on her right now and one's from Womad where the writer said, "...and ended her Sunday afternoon set on her knees, headbanging furiously. Weird but alluring." LOL What? I wonder what song that was! :laugh

And, why was there no news of her US shows? I can't seem to find out if they were actual, full performances, or just something short for press/label-ish stuff.

sora-kara 8th August 2008 05:45 PM

^yeah i was kinda surprised to see that that article said she did some US shows.
it wouldve been nice to have had the option of going if they were close.

and aaaaaaah...the CLOSING ceremonies....that makes more sense to me.
that, and i just watched all of the opening ceremonies (i usually do that anyway), and there was no good spot for her to be.
so now, i'll really have to try to get to see the closing ceremonies. id love to see her perform during them! thatd be amazing!

hahaha....headbanging? shes full of surprises :P

paper_doll 8th August 2008 08:09 PM

Yeah :( These are the exact reasons she needs a better website D: Currently, my knowledge of Chinese is barely existent, so her blog doesn't even help.

I missed the opening ceremonies (I think a channel here is replaying them later. I just looked at pictures and it was so beautiful :heart). I really hope she performs. I mean, how awesome would Alive be? *___*

Oooh, I believe this is a clip from her show in San Fransisco(sp?): http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=vrgkTH0pO3w
From the pictures on her blog of her shows in the UK, she had actual musicians with her. I'd love to hear that, since it's always just like a backtrack or whatever it's called. Is she still lip synching though? :/

sora-kara 9th August 2008 11:53 PM

^yeah, the opening ceremonies were pretty damn neat! hopefully you can catch a repeat sometime.

hm...she does seem like shes lip synching there.
i did realize she usually uses a backing track for her performances.
thats kinda poopy. :/

paper_doll 10th August 2008 04:24 PM

I caught them at 6:00pm on Sunday. They were incredible!

I think I've only seem one performance where she wasn't lip synching (excluding interviews) lol. I would hope that she didn't lip synch at Womad or Albert Hall, but I can't find any videos from her performances there.

Oh and I keep forgetting to ask, what do you think of the Bjork comparisons? It's mentioned in nearly every article out there, but from what I've heard from Bjork, I don't think they share many similarities.

sora-kara 13th August 2008 05:32 PM

i think theyre comparing them not so much on actual sound, but on ideas.

theyre probably comparing on the fact that they dont appear to have inhibitions about what they create musically. they can both be pretty far out sometimes, but at the same time they manage to be very modern and fairly accessible.

paper_doll 15th August 2008 12:20 AM

Ahh, I see. That makes sense :yes

And for some news, I was just browsing Sina Videos and there's some performances up from Womad (and one of Lagu Lagu!) and it looks like she performed a new song :O I currently can't watch any of the videos. I'm not sure if it's something temporary with the site, or it's my location :(

EDIT: Mama Tian Na from Womad: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=JKY2nRzE9JQ (No lip synching, woo hoo!)

EDIT2: In this video is a performance of Lagu Lagu (I think it's the same as the one on Sina Video): http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=uB3jIxvDHgU

sora-kara 26th August 2008 11:40 PM

^nice videos.
i watched them a while ago...but i didnt comment for some reason o_O

and, after watching those i was super excited that she might be at the closing ceremonies.
but she wasnt not. :(

but jackie chan was.

and that.

was friggin cute!

paper_doll 5th September 2008 10:39 PM

lol I didn't end up watching the closing ceremonies; too long.

For some strange reason, I can now watch videos on Sina O_o I am so in love with the new song! I can't wait to hear it in better quality *_* (So this was the head banging they were talking about? lol)

sora-kara 8th September 2008 06:27 PM

^lucky!

: (

rip it somehow pretty please?

paper_doll 8th September 2008 11:45 PM

Certainly! And from what I can get out of the title: xx宁泊 something something Ning Bo D:

Here's a live of it from Womad: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZY58D1TC
And a live of it from Albert Hall: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=C76GC17B (the beginning instrumental part seems to be cut off, sorry)

I like the Albert Hall performance because the audio is much better. If this is any indication of the sound for her next album, I am stoked!

sora-kara 9th September 2008 03:35 PM

^thanks so much!
you rock my socks!

im just downloading them now. :)

EDIT: they absolutely refuse to play..... ;___;

paper_doll 12th September 2008 03:23 PM

Oh no :( Um... I use GOM Player to play the .flv files, but I have an audio rip of the Albert Hall live if you want that: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7TAEZGKD

Maybe I'll try uploading the videos to YT...

And, Ding Ding just posted an article from CNN here. I wonder if that means she'll be on the show as well?

sora-kara 12th September 2008 04:19 PM

^alrighty, thanks for this rip.
i'll see if it works :)
i seem to have a good amount of trouble playing media files -_-

EDIT: O_________O
holy wow ****!
its fantastic!

paper_doll 13th September 2008 02:48 PM

I know *___* Now we just need some album news and we're set 8D

I put the two lives up on YT incase you wanted to watch them:
Womad: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=XrZSU1wTBZo
Albert Hall: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=4MvrbcuLVjY
Man, I can't get over how awesome the Albert Hall performance is.

sora-kara 14th September 2008 03:47 PM

^thank yoooooouuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!

paper_doll 17th September 2008 02:42 AM

No problem :)

Just some slight info on the song. The title's 希然宁泊 (Xi ran ning bo). I can't seem to work out the meaning of that though. And I guess people aren't sure what language it's in (so, it's definitely not Mandarin). One person speculated Tibetan and another said Sanskrit. They also mentioned something called Bo luo mi duo xin, "Prajnaparamitra Hrdaya Sutra [Heart Sutra]". And looking at some translations, it looks like it might fit the lyrics!

गते गते पारगते पारसंगते बोधि स्वाहा
Gate gate paragate parasamgate bodhi svaha
gone gone totally gone totally completely gone enlightened so be it

Definitely sounds like the part repeated at the end, no? I can't really get the rest of the song. I'm not sure if it's more of that or something else. If it is the mantra, I can't make out what part is and it doesn't really sound like the Chinese version :/ Looks like we can look forward to more Sanskrit on the next album.

Yikes, this was long @_@ Sorry!

EDIT: As if this post wasn't long enough lol. I uploaded Sa Ding Ding's Talk Asia interview on YT. We don't get CNN International, so I didn't get to see it on TV :( It wasn't overly exciting, but there's a clip of Tuo Luo Ni live, her playing the zheng, a picture of her grandmother, one of her when she was a kid and she talks a bit about the new album, but they only play asnippet of the "new" song.

Huaka 16th December 2008 12:26 PM

So, has there been anything new with her? I haven't been to this thread for a long time. The new song sounds awesome!

paper_doll 17th December 2008 06:01 PM

Actually, I just was coming here to post another new song lol

http://www.cococ.com/play/258152.html
It's a song called 达塔伽达 (Da ta qie da) and I think it's live from somewhere.
