Of course I know that haha. Don't you feel this single clashes way too much though? Like I said I can live with the cover. But then you open it up and it's like wth?! Cartoon Ayu haha. You know, I'd like to see the reaction of someone who doesn't follow Ayu news. That person just knows she just released a new single. Goes to the store to pick it up, brings it home with him, looks at the cover and goes: "Oh damn she looks flippin'". Then he opens up the CD and it's like ._.; Without considering the movie, the CD art really feels out of place doesn't it?

obviously they did the artwork because of the movie? geeez.

When the single is released, the cds will stand on a booth n there'd be a huge poster that says it's a theme for Dragonball and also informing customers that the 1st press edition would have the cd artwork drawn by Akira himself. so, no, nobody would be that surprised. in fact, Japan is aware that the movie is coming out soon. and as early as 2 weeks before the release of the cd, there would be banners all over music shops here promoting this single, not to forget mentioning the artwork drawn by Akira, which will make people go crazy.

It's quite a turn from her 2008 covers -- the colors, makeup, and pose is quite IN YOUR FACE -- as opposed to MW and D/G, which is soft and demure. And it's not really glamorous, which is basically the complete opposite of her 2008 covers.

I guess that I get why people wouldn't like it, and the colors took me by surprise at first. I mean, lime green with magenta is :X, but I dunno, I actually think her skin color manage to pull off the bright, contrasting colors and the focus is on her eyes.

The one thing the irks me (like Secret's cover) is the font of the text and the text placement in general. That felt like it was tacked on. It would have been better had they left it out completely, or use a different font, or shrink it smaller or something.

stepYOU1234 3rd February 2009 06:41 AM

It's different and I think I like it. If she had done another MW or D/G it would have been boring. I think I can see why people don't like it. But at least it is different. When was the last time she did something that bright coloured?

I kind of like this cover actually. And I'm surprised about the negative reactions to her being drawn by Dragon Balls creator - that would be considered a great honor in Japan.

It's Akira Toriyama's signature! :)

Calico 3rd February 2009 08:44 AM

It's Akira's signature. =) He drew it, after all XD

I like it. It's really grown on me since I first saw it. I was too was expecting and anticipating a dark colored cover, but I have a feeling that the various covers may have different color schemes. <3 Man that hair is fierce!

douggn 3rd February 2009 09:27 AM

I love them, I glad that im getting the first press cd/dvd, the cover different to what she normally would do and I like that the creator of dragonball z drew the pictures, I wounder if that will increase the sale of the first press release with dragonball z fans

tinka69 3rd February 2009 09:58 AM

I care not for the cartoon, but the CD DVD cover is HOT.

Earth_maiden 3rd February 2009 10:05 AM

Its not the best cover she's done, but I like it. Looks so 80's. XD

love in music 3rd February 2009 10:07 AM

it has grown on me. i love her hair, but her face really bugs me. it looks kind of scary and just unattractive lol. i hope the other covers will be better

HanabiChick 3rd February 2009 10:15 AM

I like it, it's nice to see something other than the usual diva shots she usually has. I like the artwork, though have no idea who the artist is, sorry. Shame the art discs are first press, I would have liked to buy it, but can't buy anything until I set up a new CDJapan account later in the year.

I agree. I know it might not be as classy as we're used to now but it suits the theme. Akira Toriyama is the guy who created Dragonball :)

HanabiChick 3rd February 2009 10:22 AM

^Thanks for the info, I didn't know who it was :) The artwork is very nice, I love the soft colours in it.

ren0210989 3rd February 2009 10:29 AM

i apsolutelly LOVE the cover!!!!!!!!
Ayu looks awsome, and it really suits Rule and the DBEvolution movie!!!

but i don't like how Toriyama drew Ayu, that needs some modifications, but i'll live with it. no big deal^^
