So I listened to the album today a few times and it's growing on me. I am starting to stop thinking in how I thought the songs were gonna be and taking them as is. But right when I got to meaning of Love I was like "What the ****** is this!?" Lol.

Lol, see it's just like contradictory to what I love. Like JEWEL was simple and stunning. People thought Days had a simple melody but that was the genius of it - it was simple but perfect. meaning of Love isn't so simple to me - like the melody isn't easy for me to get into. Both JEWEL and Days were simple and had simple choruses, but the beauty was that they were so powerful. It truly felt like a climax and in full chorus.

I also love how we're posting back and forth in two different threads. Lol.

It's a very sweet song with a kind of strange melody, but imo once you get into it, you're hooked. JEWEL seemed more like an epic ballad compared to both Days and meaning of Love. I feel like she made meaning of Love as an indirect sequel to Days, haha.

Maybe you'll warm up to the song soon, haha. I had literally no expectations (I didn't try picturing/imagining how each song would sound) for the tracks and I love every one of them.

Well I guess if I hope to warm up to it I better at least try and make it through the whole thing. Lol. I've only skipped through it to sample it and can't really listen to it. Lol. The songs are getting stuck in my head though and that's what makes me want to listen to them and slowly start to like them more.

IMO, it's a bad idea to go into an album with preconceived notions of how the songs will play out, haha. It usually ends up resulting in something bad imo especially if expectations are through the roof.

Yeah I really tried to hold down my expectations. I really did! That's why I think my idea of holding out on pictures/PV screen caps/song descriptions/previews/leaks/releases for the next year would be a good idea because I'd have no expectations and just love the songs for what they are! :yes

I dunno, you might still have weird expectations deep down that you aren't consciously making, haha. You know, like "Oh, this will probably be amazing since I'm holding out! You know?!" and then you listen to it and you're like "WHY IS THIS HAPPENING AGAIN?!"

It's probably better to just take things as they come and not do the "I'm going to ignore everything!" game if it didn't work for Rock'n'Roll Circus. Then again, I have a friend who hasn't heard any of the full versions of the songs and has only watched CMs for NEXT LEVEL and this album, and he LOVED NEXT LEVEL. (Not sure about how he'll feel about Rock'n'Roll Circus, but he said the CM was promising to him...)

Yeah I'm kind of setting myself up for disappointment either way. Like shooting myself in the foot. Ha ha.

But I think it might help if I was just completely surprised by everything. Like GUILTY I avoided everything and it didn't disappoint me at all! I was so in love with it. But I think that might have less to do with me holding out on everything and more to do with the fact that most of them were just my type of songs. I even fell in love with the singles that I wasn't too keen on as they were released throughout the year.

But yeah I don't wanna set myself up again for an anti-climatic ending, but I'm really curious to try out this mission. Ha ha ha.

3) Tell myself I like it and force myself to listen to it more
4) Admit I'm disappointed and least favorite album
5) Listen to it a little more
6) Slowly start to like more but still my least favorite album

Lol. But for sure, one day I really despised the album. The day I admitted it wasn't what I thought it was gonna be.

I think the reason why I wanted to hold out for albums was ever since (miss)understood, which I listened to all the clips beforehand and when the album came it was like "hmm... well that went by fast" and didn't give me longevity. I thought it was the worst thing and I despised it for a while (even though I loved a lot of the songs). Now I just freakin' love (miss)understood but I think that's because over time I came to remember/view the album as a whole and including the singles. At first listen it's always about the new tracks and that's what I base my judgement for the album off of.

I see. For me, I just listen to everything as soon as it comes out because I'm going to listen to it all when I get the entire thing anyway, so might as well enjoy it in pieces while I still can and revel in the excitement, haha.

I think I'm on my 150th or 200th listen of the album as a whole.

Trying to loop meaning of Love and Last Links because those are muh FEHEVES, but I don't want other tracks from the album to get left out so I'm listening to those as well, just backing up on LL or moL when I feel like it.

Omg, that's a lot of playthroughs! I have begun to stop singling out certain songs (Microphone and Last Links) and listening to the album as a whole as well.

Another reason I hold out is because with LOVEppears (received the year before MY STORY release) and MY STORY and (miss)understood and Secret and GUILTY - they were all ordered for me for a Christmas present from my Mom. So I never wanted to spoil Christmas before it came because that was always my number one gift I looked forward to!

Me too! When I got my CD+DVD I ripped the music and videos into my iTunes library, and then put the discs back in the case and even put the plastic wrap back over it. :D

Hmm.. reading all.night.ravers posts.. I feel kinda bad for people that have to lower their expectations for her music. Mine are usually pretty high and I still hardly ever feel disappointed ^_^ Well, it's not like I expect each song to be "THE BEST SONG EVER" but I just expect it to be of high quality as usual, and for me, 99% of the time it is. I guess I'm just one of those lucky fans where she satisfies my tastes perfectly.

Haha, not directly. First off, my iMac DVD drive is Region 1, so rather than constantly change region codes, I bought a $50 external DVD drive that I set to Region 2 for my Japan stuff. Then, I use a free awesome program on the Mac called Handbrake. It has a setting for "Apple Universal" which means the resulting MP4 video file will work on the computer, my iPod, and iPhone, and look as best as possible that the devices will support. It doesn't take too much time and it's super cool once it's all done. :)

You don't just us VLC? It's a program that plays DVDs no matter the region. It's free. Google it. xD;

I loved Sunrise too and I liked the PV. Although like the majority I didn't like the single as a whole, I did really like that song. Can't really listen to it anymore though. I overplayed it. I just never really cared for Sunset, I think I've heard it twice.

Many say that fairyland, glitter, Blue Bird, Next Level, and Sunrise are the exact same song but I don't really see it, although I might have used to :think

Ayusan, what songs have you heard? Just the singles, or nothing? Because, and I think most people agree, in general, the non-singles bring so much more to the album, even if you also love the singles. So if you've been satisfied with Sunrise, You were..., etc., this shouldn't cause you regret at all. However, if you are expecting more from this album, I think you'd better download the entire album and listen in full, to see if you feel this is an album you want to support. Personally, I think this is in her top five best albums, and I would still want to support her, even if I only liked two or three songs, because she is my favourite singer. But that's just me; you may feel different.

Really - and this goes for everyone - I think you should really enjoy at least three songs off of any album, and be able to enjoy most of the other tracks, before you decide to buy. I also think you should at the very least listen fully to all singles, so that you know at least partially what to expect and aren't disappointed.

I have a current Mac and the current version of VLC I use for other reasons, but yeah I know it USED to work like that, but not anymore. VLC won't play other regions on my system ever since ~2 versions of VLC ago. It's no problem with me though, Handbrake is simple and I like being able to play the videos without the disc and have them sync onto all of my portable devices.

I find myself listening to the album less in general already. On my iPod I go off on other music. However, I still play it in the car everyday, and I find that... more enjoyable actually :yes

Some song that are great, a crazy punky song as I love, some very touching songs, and some crap. I ordered back in december their last single at the same time than You were.../BALLAD .... can't help, if there are two artists I will follow that's both of them, Ayu and DeG, Kyo saved my life and Ayu keep me on the right side. Ayusan, I did the same thing that you did, and didn't listen to any previews. I REALLY love this album. I've listened to it like 3-4 times through now. If you're really scared --preview it on ayu's myspace page. I've listened to so many Ayu albums that I know that I won't like every song, but the ones that I love will compensate.

for me, countdown is more like Microphone than Last Links. countdown is a much heavier (guitar) song while Last Links is much poppier, with no electric guitars. They're not really similar except for the tempo.

I agree it's pretty crazy, but sadly I think someone will and so that seller is taking advantage. You know what else is crazy? I have my heart set on the special a BEST 2 black & white towel set, and they are on eBay right now for $100 plus shipping. FOR TWO LITTLE TOWELS. The seller isn't even nice either I emailed asking what the exact size was of them and if he/she would consider anything lower than $100 and I didn't even get an answer. :(

That it comes without poster, thanks god, except DEG I pin nothing else on my wall but without photobook ... however I bought a special limited box not a normal one from what is written on mu-mo I translated all ten times and didn't see anything with a none photobook, the ref. are the same than other box, so if I don't have the photobook I won't even listen to that stupid album nor anything, too much trouble for no worth.
When I think that yesasia still had CD+DVD+photobook, I would had NEVER bought the box if it wasn't complete.

I already dislike the album. In a way it's the same than Uroboros. Cdjapan fee increased, the fake crisis came on top of that, then I had to cancel and then order on yesasia. finally uroboros deluxe version rotten in a corner. the fact i got it handsigned by the band didn't change anything, it rottens in a corner and the album is the least I like and I don't listen it.

Did you get the box from YA? 'Cause if you did, it'll definitely come with the photobook. Even if you bought it from a reseller, there's no reason for him/her to rip out the photobook and send the rest of the box to you.
