I think it was good she branched out. But the songs, imo were really bad. They don't come close to how great poppy R&B can be.

It was for me too, now that I think about it. It was definitely my first time seeing a live of BoA and Kuu, as well as Amuro Namie and VERBAL (I remember being surprised Namie's hair in that live, b/c it was completely different from what I knew of her image at the time lol.

True, but I just love the bridge in Why..., and it just won't be the same if ayu was singing that alone. That said, the most "typical" ayu song on the whole mini-album has got to be progress. My first thought when I listened to the preview on the ToX game trailer was "now THAT'S an ayu song" :laugh

She may just do it if we mass-tweet her or something. Or at least if we did before that MSta saga that caused her to drop Twitter... :(

I still can't get over how progress just sounds like blossom regurgitated to me and why she chose it as a lead track. IDK. But it definitely is "more Ayu," or at least more nowadays Ayu, than the rest.

A cover album would be pretty cool... It'd probably be all songs no one knows though.

I'm hoping a Christmas album, some like she permormed on TV specials and Ayu Ready and some new written by her since she just mentioned writing 3 new songs.

Of course being a 2012 album that's not likely. I expect atleast the last 2 songs Tim Wellard said he was composing and most likely the rest by TK since he mentioned being in Europe now too. Hopefully over 1/3 of the album gets PVs made for the songs.

The bridge in Why... is beautiful! I adore that part of the song and I agree, it would not work solo.

About progress...I feel that on the one hand it's incredibly Ayu, it has that feeling to it only her music has, typical songwriting(genre-, speed-, keychanges)...but on the other hand it also feels different from anything she has done before in the way it puts some anison influences into the mix and the...desperation I feel in it.
Thinking about it...FIVE felt very desperate to me overall. progress, Why..., BRILLANTE.

I just want one or two upbeat, bouncy, summery songs, minimal interludes, an epic, individual song (like kiss o' kill, Marionette, BRILLANTE, criminal, etc), a ballad with a choir of some sort, and... a collab with Timmy, vocals and all.

That's my dream new album. :yes The rest I'm not fussed with, the only songs of Ayu's I don't like are on her first album ASFXX, so I know I won't be disappointed.

That one feels somewhat...plastic-desperate to me.

The only song with a choir that I liked was Beautiful Day. Maybe not really a choir but it had that choir feel. I love that song so much (even though a lot of people hate it for some odd reason).

Sorry to say but I am one of those people. Lol. I just feel like that song goes nowhere and the melody is weak for me, imo. Beautiful Day has a great melody and it's so easy to follow along with. The composition just works beautifully.

I love meaning of Love's melody. I was so excited for it from the preview, but then the full song was just so long and overly simple. ;_; I was about to say "I don't think I've listened to it more than 10 times," but apparently I've listened to that whole album over 30 times this year alone. x_x

Well it's quite exciting since I was personally fully prepared for her to not release anything in 2012. I expected her to do a full arena tour based on Love songs and FIVE, so her saying she's already recording and releasing something next year to me was quite big news. And happy news!! :)

ive been thinkin that ayu will release this new album sooner than we think '-' i mean, she's staying in london for a month and this is time enough to record around 15 songs (judging that she works like hell), and late in december the only thing missing will be the mixing and arrangement parts i guess, so maybe by december the album will be officialy announced with its tracklisting, and released probably in january or feb...

I just hope this won't be an R&B-dominated album. It might be the case if she's experimenting with new genres. I really don't like R&B.

I'm with you, Beautiful Day is a very upbeat song, always puts a smile on my face. Regarding meaning of Love, I wouldn't say I hate it, but it's just not a very convincing song, it's sound is completely forced and she is annoying with her nasal tone, it almost sounds that it was a one take thing and she had to sing that way.

The moment the song starts with that little synthesizer I get happy. Especially when it's sunny out and it really is a beautiful day. I choose to listen to music usually according to weather and time of day. So when it's so nice out and I think "wow, it's such a beautiful day... what should I listen to?" it is a no brainer.

I would think that prior to FIVE and After Love song..maybe AYu has already recorded songs from that period but didnt release any due to the Earthquake. If she could change an entire tour because of it, she could easily change her release schedule and material..and released FIVE because it had strong significance (lyrics wise and concept wise). So I doubt she'll totally be recording an albums length worth of songs. she probably already have a few plans for singles..just a probable situation. though i agree, her one month stay could also mean about 7-8 songs? + 2-3 PVs?

it was and still is a nice album, but I don't listen to it as often as I do with (m) u, love songs, secret or I am..

if she managed to record maybe 10 to 12 songs for the upcoming new album, she still needs to shoot the PVs, edtiting, booklet and cover photoshoot. not to mention the promotion arrangement and communication thingy. so i will assume the new album won't be ready in around March.

I wouldn't mind to get the new album in early 2012.

I agree, because all of her music is rushed. But some of her music is less rushed.. I remember she mentioned she took more time with Sunrise/Sunset, and it's not even close to being a fan favorite lol.

Ah! I forgot about that! It was originally just supposed to be a mini-album, and then she decided to turn it into a full-length album just a few weeks before the release date, right? And it didn't sound rushed to me at all. I really liked Secret when it came out.

So, I guess that, whether an album was rushed or not has little to no bearing on how it sounds to me; so that won't be a factor in how this new album sounds, even if she releases it really really soon.

I hate how "rushed" is becoming synonymous with "dislike." It seems like any time a person doesn't like something they claim its rushed. But how can that be a problem when ALL her albums are rushed? It's not like if Ayu took more time she would make songs that you like any more than you do or don't now.

I don't get a rushed feeling from anything...some stuff I like more than others, but ayu is pure talent, imo.

I was just saiyng: more time = high possibilities to focus more on work and not hurry because of deadline. Unless you're a Mozart-wannabe, it must take some time to do things in the right way. Even for Ayu. But it doesn't mean the album will be absolutely perfect and everyone will love it. There's a high chance, just that.
