Yes. It makes sense thematically, both for the show and her career. Also the lighting kinda gave away the double encore surprise

What a wonderful show!

~angel*ayumi~ 31st December 2019 05:31 PM

what a great CDL, one of her best, she performed so many gams and her vocals were good.

Chibi-Chan 31st December 2019 05:32 PM

Whoever streamed this, thank you so much! ♡

I need to get ready for the party now, which takes place at my apartment and I'm 3 hours behind my schedule. lol

freedreamer 31st December 2019 05:32 PM

I enjoyed it so muchhh every song has a strong theme and idea and yes she sounded so good Im so proud of her for always pushing :D

AJFmzk 31st December 2019 05:33 PM

Overall very good show. Great setlist. Pretty good vocals. There were a few standout great vocal moments and a few truly awful vocal moments. But not bad overall, approximately the same quality of vocals I saw at POM20. I still think the choir wasn't really necessary, the band would have been better IMO. But still really enjoyable and very entertaining show with a clear message that she's not going anywhere.

I'm kinda sad the stream cut off right at the countdown...but technical problems aside I did enjoy the show. I'm glad I didn't give up on streaming it.

Katsuyuki012 31st December 2019 05:33 PM

She delivered :heart Loved all the surprises! I so need them to release this on DVD.

maxikot 31st December 2019 05:34 PM

She nailed it. Hands-down the best countdown in years and she was so good vocally. Thank you Ayu and keep it up in delivering such shows.

hud 31st December 2019 05:34 PM

lol I always hate the setlist when everyone loves it and vice versa. excited to watch the show though! seems like it was fun.

//ABEST 31st December 2019 05:34 PM

this was the first show i have felt any interest since AT2015 and it was all worth it.. i can't even describe how ayu has taught me between 2010-2019, i will always be thankful for her music for making me who i am :luv2

Coincidence that they stopped selling the concert DVDs since the venue underwent renovations (as I understand it)…? Maybe now that she was back there, they'll resume disc production?

I'm absolutely fine buying both a tour and countdown concert set of discs every year.

and what makes you "hate" it? Thats she performed some underperformed songs alongside the staples we expect her to do for a year-end party?

lol, calm down beyoncé. not here to please you. I'm not going to praise the setlist because she threw SAKURA and sending mail there with songs she performs all the time.

on topic: I really wanted her to go the LOVEppears route since the re-release happened but that's okay. kinda bummer but I'm sure the show was amazing.

Deep snow 31st December 2019 06:33 PM

I opened this thread from page 5 and really enjoyed the self-imposed suspense of the set list! I'm really impressed by her selection this year!

also happy to read that she hasn't been screaming (as much). ugh I cannot wait to watch the concert myself. thank you for everyone who streamed and shared the wonderful bits of information here.

happy new year!

Corki 31st December 2019 06:36 PM

I am so thankful for the stream! :) I am so happy I could watch it live!
In my opinion she sounded really good, it was a great athmosphere on stage and I like the setlist :love

Earth_maiden 31st December 2019 06:52 PM

That setlist is FIRE :luv2:luv2:luv2:luv2

Now to patiently wait for the upload. :love

ExodusUK 31st December 2019 07:00 PM

okay judging by the setlist...she did that

Sim' 31st December 2019 07:24 PM

Thanks for all the feedbacks!
Not impressed at all by this setlist, save maybe the encore medley (Song 4 u & Mirrorcle World are one of my favourite songs).
But I'm excited to hear her vocals in this one, seeing how much praise she got on the forum. Happy new year everyone!

AyuGAME 31st December 2019 07:33 PM

I missed the streaming. Hopefully, someone will upload it all soon.

I came back from the concert maybe 90min ago. I can’t sleep! Too excited from everything. I got front row seat, maybe 3-4 meters to the stage. Ayu was stunning up close like that! Awesome setlist. Somehow one of the dancers threw a ball (green) my way... it bounced on the floor, up on my forehead and I fumbled... but still got it!

Lucky you!
Can you post a pic of the ball? I collect pictures of everything for my concert guide^^

@thread
in the file from JPS i saw Ayu fall, seems she hurt herself quiet a bit, she kept sitting on the floor for a while, it seemed not planned and she had a bit problems standing up. Alltough it rly looked so funny how she slipped (I guess i look as funny when I fall on my nose, and I do that often xD )
I hope she didn´t hurt too much.

Fall looks painful

SunshineSlayer 31st December 2019 09:45 PM

Watching now. Just have watched the first song so far, but her voice.....sounds good??? lol Yay. Maybe the difference between only doing one show and not 3 or 4 in a row before the final.

Edit: A few songs in. Yep, sounds horse when going for any high note, but she seems to control it better now.

Cahz- 31st December 2019 10:03 PM

The new? dancer reminds me of Frankie Grande:laugh

RealLight 31st December 2019 10:12 PM

Not impressed by the setlist either, a few rare additions were ok, but the rest was pretty underwhelming. Wasn't able to watch everything due to the stream lagging too much, I'll have a batter one later after I download it.

SKYia 31st December 2019 10:22 PM

I'm watching, started it so the countdown is exactly at midnigt here, last year I was 20 seconds late, love the vocals so far :D

AJFmzk 31st December 2019 11:42 PM

I wonder how the Meet But Not Greet thing went. She looked tired but still energized by the end of the show.

//ABEST 1st January 2020 02:42 AM

well the fall explains why she looked like she was in pain in the end when she was running around stage screaming arigatou gozaimashita :(

Raiu-Ayu 1st January 2020 03:40 AM

I really liked this show (and it's been a while since I really liked one of her concerts)

The setlist is absolute FIRE! So many rare songs in there and quite a few of them, such as sending mail, snowy kiss, and identity, are some of my absolute favs! And her vocals are actually quite good as well. If she works on that technique and perfects it a little more it'll serve her well I think. It worked amazingly for Marionette!! The softer touch to her voice really added to how haunting the song is.

I think the show lacked a bit of energy from her because of the vocal style she was using. I think it would have been beautiful for songs like JEWEL or CAROLS but for songs with a bit of power in them she just needs to work on it I think. The fall I think added to it as well. She clearly was in pain after snowy kiss. It took her a good 2 minutes to even get standing again and she was limping then pretty much the rest of the show. It looked like she came off the step awkwardly and either rolled her ankle or caught her foot on the dress and landed badly.

njanjayrp 1st January 2020 04:40 AM

This is most likely one of her best CDLs. She did really well vocally.

tokyoxjapanxfan 1st January 2020 05:44 AM

Personally not into the set list so much.

Some gems in there but generally not my thing.
But I’m interested in seeing how she performed them.

adrtwb 1st January 2020 06:46 AM

I enjoyed the show so so so much and can’t believe i got the first damn row seat. She was so close and her vocals were quite good!! Somewhat the concert feels a bit similar to Wake Up 12-13!

Sky High 1st January 2020 06:52 AM

This was really good concert. Setlist is soo good (sending mail, SAKURA, identity). But when she fell during snowy kiss, omg, that was bad. Her vocals are pretty much on point except for: until that day, humming 7/4.

Deep snow 1st January 2020 07:57 AM

just finished watching the downloaded stream, overall I like this a lot. a couple unorganised notes:

• the fall looked painful! she seemed to manage really well during snowy kiss by just powering through and singing on the spot, but yeah, as some have said, it seemed to have taken a toll when her walk seemed a bit stunted in the encore. I hope this doesn't add to her knee problem and is just something she can more easily heal from.

• the vocal! it was evident that she was trying to control herself and it worked really well for the most part! her vibrato sounds 'mature' and stable even when she was walking around. I hope she can maintain (if not improve) this technique for the remainder of the TROUBLE tour.

• I think she lip-synced/used a backing track during at least Marionette and decision (if not identity, as well). her vocal sounded a little too 'polished' here and the camera angles are suspect; they seemed to intentionally not zoom in on her face during these songs to hide apparent signs of lip-syncing. I'm not a pro so I could be wrong here of course.

I really enjoyed this concert! I hope it gets released officially.

SunshineSlayer 1st January 2020 09:38 AM

Mixed feelings about this show. I like that she did a lot of rare songs and at the same time I didn’t really enjoy the setlist. lol

She focused on her vocals a lot and as a result the show seemed to lack some spark and power for me, but I guess we can’t have it both ways.

She definitely hurt herself during the fall and seemed unsteady afterwards. I think her knee??

The curtains opened, Ayu appeared in a wheelchair. She started with "I'm sorry for such a shocking appearance on stage", because she fell, talked about this live, changes in the seat structure, listened to the audience requests of the songs they want to hear in the next leg of Trouble tour. Then group pictures were taken with Ayu facing each block and she thanked the fans before bidding farewell. The public was sitting all the time, Ayu didn't leave the stage or shake anyone's hands or talk directly to anyone. It all lasted about 10 minutes.

Wheel chair? Omg I hope she is alright.

maxikot 1st January 2020 10:29 AM

I don't think the wheelchair shows it's something very serious, it's just good she used it. There's no need to exercise her legs after the show, especially after the fall. I'm sure she's under a perfect care and resting right now. She deserves the best :)

Chris85 1st January 2020 10:30 AM

I like how you can see teleprompters with song lyrics :-) They still didn't save her from mistakes.

terra 1st January 2020 11:21 AM

She liked Happening Here that much eh? :|
I can't imagine the exhaustion of singing snowy kiss, sending mail and then Missing.
But I really do appreciate she's coming up with songs she never performed before

You're right. Identity's choruses are pitch-perfect which give it away. Marionette and Decision are pitch-perfect and more powerful and screamish than the rest of the show.

ExodusUK 1st January 2020 12:33 PM

Okay the interlude/dance break remix of Starting Over is a bop

surrealA 1st January 2020 01:18 PM

It was one of her best concert in the past 2-3 years (she needs to do more arena concert).
Overall really enjoyed it. The song choices was unexpected and really appreciate that she sang mostly underperformed songs. Wished she didnt sang fly high and unite though :)

When she fell during snowy kiss most people at the arena gasp! Thought she might stop the show that time but she keeps on singing like a pro. She powered through! Makes me respect her even more. Hopefully she will heal well.

Happy New Year all!

That fall looked really painful, I don’t blame her for keeping it short. It kind of sucks for the fans that thought they could meet her individually, but it was pretty clear from the TA email that she wouldn’t really be having individual conversations. Honestly, I’ve got to give her props for powering through, because she must’ve been in a lot of pain. I hope she recovers quickly and it doesn’t ruin her already damaged knee. Let’s see if she uses any of their song suggestions *return road* on final filming day.

I missed large parts of these songs on the live stream, but when I went back to watch them later I noticed the same thing. They sound more balanced in the mix with the backing tracks compared to the live vocals, and she was hitting the higher notes with some power, they didn’t sound thin, she sounded less hoarse in the verses etc. decision wasn’t pitch perfect the whole time, but the vocal sounded mixed and closer in quality to marionette so it was probably one of those “live prerecorded but with a few off notes” tracks. I also suspect the first half of Song 4 U (before the countdown) but I’m not totally sure.

Ayu must really love the song decision because the song itself is kinda..generic of its era and quite an uneventful b-side from a very busy year when it was released? Talkin' 2 myself needs more respect.

I wonder if the absence of the rock band could be due to her earing condition. Maybe it is easier for her to sing over a pre-recorded track. I first thought the absence of the band could be because of money, but since they have a string, brass and choir sections, I doubt having 3-4 musicians would make a big difference for the show budget.

That fall on snowy kiss also made me wonder if her ear condition isn't worst then it was.

I wonder if it has to do with the band members each being busy with their own stuff since hasn’t used them in a while and found it easier to do with the audio tracks instead. That and possibly rehearsal time around her schedule with the baby and pre baby say if she wanted to rehearse at 2am and trying to round up all the bandmates.

I did come across this on Instagram, what is this?

It may be easier for her to sing over backing tracks, but then why have the live strings and brass? In-ear monitors are supposed to block out the sound from the stage so it wouldn’t change anything if the band was there or not. She shouldn’t be hearing them except in her monitors, and you’re supposed to do a sound check to balance the levels of all the instruments, so there really shouldn’t be any difference between having everything live and having only some stuff live or everything pre recorded. Maybe the band members were not available/wanted a break. Maybe it’s easier for her to practice to in terms of consistency, but the band members are pros and can play it the same way every time. I think the budget did have something to do with it, the strings, choir and I think horn players too are already on Avex regular payroll (they’re called A Strings/A Choir/A horns). I don’t think her band is employed by avex, I think they’re hired on contract for Ayu’s tours new every time. I’ve seen some of them (Yusuke and Enrique specifically) tour with other bands/artists before who I don’t believe are on Avex label. I’m just speculating here and could be entirely wrong though..

^ Yoshio has been with her since the very first tour. He’s most likely an employee of avex

AJFmzk 2nd January 2020 03:48 AM

^ certainly is possible. Maybe the other members weren’t available and she didn’t want to have just Yoshio by himself and the rest backing tracks. I know Yusuke was touring with another artist earlier this year. Unless it gets addressed by someone directly involved, we’ll never know.

I’m really curious as to whether SAKURA was always going to be in the setlist or if it was a last minute addition after that staff member of hers passed away a couple weeks ago.

AJFmzk 2nd January 2020 05:29 AM

^ oh I didn't hear about that...who was the staff member?

I’m certain it was an addition! They had a dedication to him on the screens, also showed footage of him backstage with ayu when she was younger.

I’m so sorry I don’t remember his name. I feel terrible.

Yeah you could see a little bit of the footage they were showing on the live broadcast, stuff with the two of them backstage—really glad they were able to add that in as tribute for him :heart

ETA. so just went back and read her insta post and he passed away at the beginning of November so perhaps it was always meant to be in there...he was with her for all 21 years of her career and basically made her ear monitors. Christmas Eve was the first time she had to be up on stage without him working his magic behind the scenes. :(

She definitely had a backtrack on some songs. I heard it i think in everywhere nowhere as well. But she still put on one heck of a show and for the most part, her real voice was on point. and on hindsight, this CDL must have meant a lot to her!

Yes, She was 100% lip syncing in everywhere nowhere.

I don't remember his name, and they really only showed him clearly on the broadcast for like half a second. But I do remember him from the past documentaries. I can't remember if it was the CDL 2006-2007 documentary, the Rock n Roll Circus Documentary, the Cirque de Minuit Documentary... he could've been in all 3 or one or two of them. But I do remember him adjusting/trying to fix ayu's monitors in the video

I kinda remember the letters y and m.... Matsumoto? tbh I don’t trust my memory.

She does seem to struggle less vocally when she sings over a track... But I may be wrong too. Her vocals were really great last night compared to her previous lives.

^ damn, that looks painful.

I really love the concert. What an incredible countdown!
Sending mail is one of my favorite songs, and now she has finally performed it!

hidekirby 2nd January 2020 03:33 PM

What a show!
Great she performed some songs for the first time.
Glad to hear her voice is improving. May be due to the long rest but it still sounds tired at times. But she managed to retain control over it until the end. No more screaming. Her off-key moments are less painful to hear. And her voice is clear again!
Happy she kept the choir and the brass/strings (even if sometimes I really wonder if they are playing, particularly the strings which sound processed). Less happy to see her band is still not there.

What songs did she perform for the first time? Correct me if I'm wrong, but she has performed all of them before.

She has but this is the first time that a SAKURA performance got recorded (not counting that short acapella in 2015).
Pretty sure everything else had been performed (and recorded) before but a lot of these haven't been done for quite some time.
