not only that.play-asia's shipping is free when you need to purchase more than 39USD and above only can get free shipping at yesasia

gothicayu 30th September 2009 01:08 AM

thats what i appreciate too about them because sometimes you just dont want to order 39$ at the time .... yesasia forces you to spend extra money to get free shipping when play asia dont. they are definatly better than yesasia.the costumer service is pretty good too. i never received anything damage from them .

nanakopy87 30th September 2009 05:24 AM

yes.they usually reply my queries within 24 hours ...i remember once i asked them about ayu's cd.they replied my mail within 30 minutes while yesasia take their own sweet time (fastest is 1 1/2 day) to reply my simple question

for me too they replied super fast . LOL about yesasia .
as for amazon i tried to buy japanese cd from there before and i must tell you i had the most awfull experiance. most sellers use automatic machine . it takes 24 to 48 hrs to get an answer and when you get it its like 30 to 50 questions ( that have nothing to do with yours) already type that they send to anybody for anything . an other time the seller was selling a japanese singer cd i simply ask is it OS (hk) taiwanese press , korean press of japanese press ? the guy didnt even know what he was selling and couldnt tell what press LOLLLLLL

play asia is very proffetional compare to amazon or yesasia :yes

nanakopy87 30th September 2009 08:05 AM

yes,i agree with you.but if compare play-asia with yesasia and cdjapan and also hmv ,the only cons for play-asia is they don't pre--order for many stuffs like ayu's and many other artist.and it's not as fast as them also.i remember s/s OS version 1 or 2 weeks after the official release date

nanakopy87 9th October 2009 11:22 AM

i want to ask a question regarding cdjapan.
do they charge you first when pre-order a cd?
i wanted to pre-order a cd but it will release on end of october.so,they will immediately charge my card or will only charge when they shipped that item to me?

LacusClyne 9th October 2009 01:55 PM

^they will deduct the money from your card AFTER they ship your order.

BUT, if you pay via paypal, it will be deduct first when you place your order

KarenPang 18th October 2009 02:20 AM

I frankly prefer to pay CDJapan using PayPal because at least the amount that you see on your screen , it's the same amount that you will see in due time when you update your bank book

it's different for credit card where it's just an estimation amount that they gave & usually the amount deducted from you will be higher because of the exchange rate

LacusClyne 18th October 2009 07:10 AM

^is it? because i normally make a note down of the estimated prices and the actual amount deduced, there are times that the final exchange rate is better, especially during the period when the economic crisis just started, i know that i end up paying SGD$8 lesser, or on a average like SGD$3 lesser in this year

gothicayu 20th October 2009 09:05 PM

wow that's great saving.

RainyDays 18th November 2009 09:41 PM

Price difference between YesAsia, CDJapan and HMV?

Hey, so I'm thinking about buying You were.../BALLAD CD+DVD Version A but I'm not sure where to buy it from. On YesAsia it's $30, CDJapan and HMV's prices are around $20. What's with the price difference? And if its being shipped to Canada around how much is the shipping? Sorry but this is the first time I am trying to buy something there so I have no idea how it works. Oh, and all those websites include the poster right? Thanks in advance.

~angel*ayumi~ 18th November 2009 09:50 PM

YA includes shipping with their price. (but be aware that the free shipping is only for orders over 39$)
When you add shipping to CDJ you usally have the same price as YA.
My advice is, if you order over 39$ take YA, if you want to order only one single, use CDJ.
I donīt have any expirenve with hmv, only thing I know is that they donīt accept Paypal and fold posters.

nemesisyume 18th November 2009 09:56 PM

I love using yesasia bcos I always do big orders so CDJapan would kill my wallet with just the shipping

hidekirby 18th November 2009 09:58 PM

Hi! What's nice with YesAsia is that you can have the free shipping option. CDJapan tends to charge more than the 2 others. However, I bought "You were... / BALLAD CD+DVD Version A" with HMV because eventually, it costs me 19.43 € (with shipping charges) while it would be 20.56 € with YesAsia. Not a big difference but if you're planning to buy more items it will be cheaper with HMV.
For example "Sunrise / Sunset CD+DVD" & "You were... / BALLAD CD+DVD Version A" costs me 29.52 € with HMW, while it will end up at 33.93 € with YesAsia (with free shipping!)...
Note that I'm living in France (but I don't know if it's really different) and that HMV folds posters.

Crystal_Ageha 19th November 2009 06:44 AM

I mentioned this in another thread, but CDJapan actually comes out a few dollars (USD) cheaper than Yesasia, unless you're buying over half a dozen items at one time or something. And this is coming from somebody who gets charged pretty much the most from CDJapan (I live in NE USA, and the shipping prices to there are incredible >_>'). So if you're just getting that and one or two other things, I'd skip Yesasia. I don't know much about HMV, but I have heard better things about them than Yesasia...

My advice is to just go through checkout if you're that concerned. Just go right before the page where you confirm the order, and it'll say the exact price you need to pay. Then just go from there. :)

freedreamer 19th November 2009 09:52 AM

unless u'd pay for speed then CDJ hahah

hearted 19th November 2009 10:24 AM

to me, YA is much and much more cheaper than CDJ, not only beacause of the free shipping but also the prizes

AND you get a free toy if you buy two japanese cds!! (even if its HK press :lech)

nemesisyume 19th November 2009 10:36 AM

^I've never actually taken any of those toys with my orders
what are they like?

hearted 19th November 2009 01:28 PM

^i dunno, i never got them either :P ive always wanted to have the tarepanda one :love

ayumi.hamasaki 19th November 2009 01:35 PM

How can I order something through HMV when I only have pay pal ?

I want to buy the photo & episode 2005-2009 from ayu

please explain how it could work or offer to buy one for me, too

KarenPang 19th November 2009 01:44 PM

^ HMV HK , HMV Japan sadly do not accept PayPal

HMV Japan has various payment methods though but PayPal wise they do not accept

Hi n_____n You live in Waterloo? I lived there for 8 months about 3 years ago. Lol I'm in Ottawa now~

I'm buying all 3 versions so, when I calculated:

YesAsia comes to about 88$ for all 3 versions, I get free shipping since the order is over 30$.

CDJapan comes to about 79$, shipping included! I use Registered AirMail for shipping method.

I have ordered from both CDJapan and YesAsia before. Both websites are great, I use YesAsia usually for special goods and/or older CDs because of the free shipping. But it depends, you really have to take the time and calculate, because sometimes HMV Japan can be cheap too, their shipping is a lot cheaper than CDJapan, but they fold the posters, instead of rolling them in poster tubes like YesAsia and CDJapan.

There isn't much of a difference of speed for shipping between YesAsia and CDJapan, I think the free shipping for YesAsia equals Registered AirMail from CDJapan, because I always receive the CDs within about the same amount of time (which is beteen 4 to 7 days).

With CDJapan, if you put all the items you want in your cart, you will have the option to have an estimate of how much shipping is for you. But you must have an account with your address. That's what I did before ordering from them for You were.../BALLAD.

Good luck :3

that is a big problem for me now

could someone order this book for me please?

he/she get paiyed from me for book + shipping

Lanz16 20th November 2009 09:25 AM

I want to go for Play-Asia since it has free shipping without any requirements like $30+ purchase.

My problem to it is this: did they had the first press poster like CDJ and YA does?
As much as possible I want save much money from shipping.

My first choice is always CDJ since they had that fabulous freebie. :(

nanakopy87 20th November 2009 09:38 AM

i can confirm that you wouldn't know if they will give you the freebies or not for pre-ordering you were.../ballad...i did email them and they said they will give it to us FOR FREE if they have the poster.as for others,i think its best to email them and ask.

waterballoon 20th November 2009 01:42 PM

okay I'm also thinking of buying You were..., just the CD-only version... since I'm just buying one item, would HMV Japan be more worth it?

nanakopy87 20th November 2009 01:49 PM

waterballoon, maybe you can try play-asia? please click the link on my siggy,if you want to buy from play-asia :D
they do not charge for shipping fee

waterballoon 20th November 2009 01:55 PM

But does play-asia give the free poster too?

nanakopy87 20th November 2009 02:07 PM

below are the 2 emails they replied :
Spoiler:

Free shipping is currently only available for some Asian countries.

Within Hong Kong and to some destinations close by we are able to offer a basic service via airmail for free.

Shipping speed and reliability in general depends of course on the shipping method and can differ a lot from country to country. Please keep in mind that the economy shipping options are shipped by airmail, through postal services and are also delivered by your local post.

HMV Japan charges the same price for 1-2 singles which's 900 Yen

so it's more worth it to buy 2 singles since you're paying the same exact price as compared to just 1 single

I can't help you for play-asia because I never use it D:

waterballoon 20th November 2009 02:20 PM

Hmm well ACTUALLY I don't mind whether they give the poster or not cos I won't have space to put one up anyway... I care about the first-press changeable covers lol..

nanakopy87 20th November 2009 02:23 PM

i see.btw,i've emailed and posted a note on their facebook fans page.now waiting for reply.will update here once they've reply

KarenPang 20th November 2009 02:24 PM

LOL

sites like YesAsia & HMV Japan are hard to tell for 1st press items but it's always assumed that the earlier you preorder , the chances of you getting the 1st press item's higher

it's not like CDJapan's case where it's stated on their site easily

http://www.hmv.co.jp/en/product/detail/3701449

anyway now HMV Japan do state 1st press or no 1st press for each item/product .

like for Mika Nakashima's Nagareboshi , the 1st press of her single comes with a picture labelled disc & HMV Japan doesn't have it anymore - http://www.hmv.co.jp/en/product/detail/3681287

waterballoon 20th November 2009 02:26 PM

true I'm worried I won't get the first press cos I'm going overseas soon and I won't be able to preorder the single until December 2nd or so...

KarenPang 20th November 2009 02:29 PM

1st press editions for her material do not sell out at such a fast pace rate . You still can get 1st press editions of Days / GREEN from YesAsia so I don't think you need to worry about it

but ya the best thing's to do's to preorder it a.s.a.p lah

nanakopy87 20th November 2009 02:36 PM

BUT,you can't get 1st press edition of both Days/GREEN and GREEN/Days since 2 months ago.so,ya...the risk is always there if you are late to order :P

nanakopy87 21st November 2009 06:20 AM

And,this is the reply from them :
Quote:

unfortunately we often are not able to guarantee preorder gifts. Of course we try to get them from our suppliers, but it always depends a bit on the distribution channel. For this concrete case we can check with our supplier. It might take a few days though untill we have a confirmation.

is it? coz when i use EMS at CDjapan, i normally get my preorder cds ON THE RELEASE DATE, or even a day earlier.

Thus, i'm getting a [You Were/Ballad]CD+DVD from cdjapan

Chiharo 21st November 2009 06:53 PM

Hey, guys! Is it safe to buy from Play Asia? I'm planning on buying multiple cds so I'm asking.

~angel*ayumi~ 21st November 2009 07:02 PM

I ordered 2 or 3 times at play-asia and always got my stuff^^

Chiharo 26th November 2009 06:15 PM

^Thanks!

I also have another question regarding Play Asia, do they ship first press items? They have Namie's new album for preorder, and I want to check out the whole order when it's out, because I don't want to get the first press. Will that work or they still might give me the first press? XD.

LacusClyne 1st December 2009 04:50 PM

i think it's best to email them about it, just to be on the safe side....as they specialise more in games

LemonEcstasy 2nd December 2009 10:29 PM

Hi everyone! I am new on this forum. I met Ayumi this year on January and I fell in love with her. I watched DVD from miss(understood) tour and I didn't become fond to her music, it was something new, I didn't listen to japanese artists before, but I thought ''She is so beautiful, she must make good music!''. I started looking for her discography on the internet and now I am huge fan of her. To prove my adoration I started buying CDs, firstable on eBay, because of the prices, but I realized that on Yahoo they're MUCH cheapier. I was looking for the proxy bidder through last week, but I am a little scared of buying that way, because of the fees, I don't know whether is it still viable. I also like Koda Kumi I met her in the same time as Ayu~
I am wondering if anyone could help me with buying CDs on Yahoo Japan auctions and send they to Poland, please :33

Chiharo 5th December 2009 12:29 PM

^that's what I'll do then. Thanks!

Lanz16 18th December 2009 07:46 AM

I want to ask something about on my order recently in YA.
Do I have chance in getting the first press of You were.../BALLAD even its on Pre-order status? And About on the NEXT LEVEL tour bag, Am I will receive 4 bags instead of one?

Twinkle ! 18th December 2009 08:21 AM

hehe i have some question :D

1- If I order from HMV JAPAN the sales will count towards ORICON ?
2- Dose HMV JAPAN Send the CDs before the release date like CDjapan ?

Lanz16 18th December 2009 10:46 AM

1- Yes it is counted on ORICON charts like YA and CDJ does.
2- I think so, some of our members experienced that kind of scenario.

Did you order your copy when it clearly said "Pre-order"? If you ordered early before there were any announcements, you should get first press, yes.

What do you mean 4 bags? If you ordered only 1, you will only get 1.

@Twinkle: I have never heard HMV shipped prior to release date. But it's possible... No guarantee and it always depends on where you live.

Lanz16 18th December 2009 01:39 PM

^ I've checked the shipment unit of that bag is 4.
Check this

nanakopy87 18th December 2009 01:44 PM

that is shipment unit.the bigger the number is,the more shipping fee you need to pay

Lanz16 18th December 2009 01:47 PM

^ Oh I see... So in the end, I'll get one bag. TT__TT
Thanks for clearing it up.

nanakopy87 18th December 2009 01:52 PM

ahahaha...they won't do let the customers happy :P
but its good if you buy more than 39USD.they HAVE to bear the shipping fee XD

this's what you can do for 1st press editions of anything you preordered on YesAsia

leave them a message as "please confirm the item is of first press edition" in the customer comment column before you submit the order.

what she means is ordering it BEFORE they announce that there will be first press items, aka early bird. So you 100% should get the first press, but if you order late, you might not get the first press poster.

the play safe way is to drop a email to YA and ask them.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 19th December 2009 02:53 PM

Regarding my CDJ order

So I ordered all three types of the single about a week ago...but realized that the type A first press was sold out. I'm so mad! lol

...I was wondering though, is it at all possible that I still may receive first press? Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I think I remember some people here talking about receiving it in the past even though it was sold out.

Thanks for the input!

KarenPang 19th December 2009 03:05 PM

if you preorder the single after the 1st press's sold out on CDJapan , the chances of you getting a 1st press copy is very slim

CDJapan's quite systematic in the sense that if the 1st press edition of something's still available at their end , they will state it in the beginning

they're not like HMV Japan or YesAsia where you have to email them to ask about 1st press editions of stuff

there have been some exceptations with regards to YesAsia's though

TITANIC 19th December 2009 03:07 PM

iI dont think you can get first press anymore unless lots of cancelation from pre-order. what you can do i think just cancel your order and look to other place like hmv, yesasia or play-asia.

Picaflor 7/4 19th December 2009 03:30 PM

says the person who has 3 copies of next level in their avatar.

There are other plenty of sites that I'm sure still sell first press. some sites even have first press in stock and don't say they have them. You could try looking around and seeing. Maybe even on ebay you can buy first press. They always have legitimate things there.

PinkShinigami 19th December 2009 04:00 PM

I think the chance is bigger at YA, but yes, it is possible. You shall not count on it though

nanakopy87 24th December 2009 05:15 AM

i did ask the same question on the other thread at asian music chat, and i think its more appropriate to ask at here.do cdjapan provide tracking code for the registered airmail?or can we actually request for the tracking code?

LacusClyne 24th December 2009 12:46 PM

^they do provide the tracking number. (^_^)

nanakopy87 25th December 2009 11:16 AM

i see. i thought they did not provide tracking code :P
by the way,do they work on saturday?wonder if they will send out the single on sat or next week monday

KarenPang 25th December 2009 11:29 AM

last time they wouldn't process orders on the weekend but seems that recently they open everyday just like for HMV Japan's case

I know because the DAIGO 2010 calendar I ordered a while back ago , I ordered it during the weekend & it was processed on Sun if I remembered it well

nanakopy87 25th December 2009 11:35 AM

i see.then i hope they will send out the cd on this weekend XD
by the way, they shipped out your DAIGO calendar on weekend or they are still in 'IN SHIPPING PROCESS'?

hoshiBlack 2nd January 2010 09:12 PM

Problem ordering single, help?

Okay, I'm trying to order Ballad / You were... DC + DVD from CDjapan.
I've ordered from them before and for some reason it won't authorize my credit card even though everything is alright with it.

I've already contacted them, but my main worry is... will the first press be sold out even if I move the CD to "Saved Items"?

Crystal_Ageha 3rd January 2010 02:17 AM

Wow, that's annoying, about your credit card. >_< I don't know what to tell you about that, though, since I don't know anything about your credit situation and because it's never happened to me, but... I'm pretty sure they won't save first presses for something that is only saved. :\ But you'll know for sure if they are out, because CDJ always definitely lists whether or not they still have first presses or bonuses left in stock.

Good luck. >.<'

Tom Punks 3rd January 2010 02:19 AM

Are you able to make international purchases with your credit card?

LacusClyne 3rd January 2010 04:20 AM

for your previous orders, are you using the same card?

if yes, these are the 2 main possible answers:

1: you forgot to pay your last month credit card bill, so they suspend it till you make the payment
2: you exceed the limit on your card

hoshiBlack 4th January 2010 02:44 AM

Tom:
Yes, I've ordered from CDjapan with the same credit card before.

Lacus:
1. Credit card works, used it only a few days before it.
2. Uh, same answer.

So, that's why I don't see any logical (or at least known answer) for this problem? Until CDjapan answers my e-mail, that is.
Was just wondering if anyone had any similar problems as well, before.

EDIT:
a friend saved me by ordering it for me, but I don't want to encounter this problem with future purchases :/

LacusClyne 4th January 2010 05:47 PM

^hmm, then you have to call your bank about this. Sometimes, it's the bank side's problem....

Really? My singles arrived today too (I ordered from CDJapan too). They're the First Press and the Japanese Version, but I only got one poster.

It's okay, because what would I do with three posters (;)). I just think that's strange...!

Hey everyone.
Found this thread through the search function since I need help with a question about play-asia and hope this is the right place and thread to ask it.

I registered to play-asia a looong while ago when I did not even know about YesAsia and CDJapan but never used my account there.
Now I am still getting eMails with product reviews of them and they still have some of my contact data.

Could someone please tell me how to delete my account there?

I couldn't find a button, form or anything to do so and even though I wrote several eMails to the customer service in English and German, they won't reply..

Please help me,
thank you very much in advance.

Really?? Strange...I always get one poster for each CD. That's why I have three Days / GREEN posters as well. lol

I might sell two on eBay...I'm hurting after spending $65 on these singles + DVD tours haha

done.
as for the western union payment,i never try that.rusuke,do you have paypal?
western union fee is quite expensive,IMO.i once tried to calculate the fees and to my surprise,i have to pay almost double of the cd price if i use western union.and i'm confirm that play-asia is safe :D

mobius 9th January 2010 12:55 AM

Play-Asia is very safe. I bought many music cd from them and sometimes there prices are cheaper too. As for Western Union, I have no idea cause I never used WU with them. I always use a credit card and like nanakopy says they might charge a fee for WU.

Play-asia is actually one of the best sites, and I'd probably shop there all the time if it counted towards ORICON. :yes The shipping is very fast and prices are reasonable. I've ordered both games and CDs from the site, and I've also had friends order from them with satisfaction, as well.

nanakopy87 9th January 2010 06:01 AM

ya.they are very good.but, there is still 1 thing i don't like (although i'm their die-hard fans :P).they do not give out posters.but they do have first press item(you have to email them double confirm).so,if you want the posters,i don't think this site is suitable for you.if like me,who don't really bother of the poster, this is a good site for you :D

Well, I've just ordered from Play-Asia for the first time and I have to say that none other shops where you can buy j-pop disappointed me as much as them.

It's been 15 working days already and I still haven't received my CDs. Usually, when ordering from yesasia I get my stuff for about only 10 working days, and CDjapan for only 6 days.

I have this feeling that my cds will never arrive. T_T

Anyway, on their site it says that I should wait for about 5-14 days, and to this point it's been one day more and I still haven't gotten my stuff :(

Should I send them an e-mail or something? Because I heard that some people got their stuff in 2 months :o and people were dissapointed a lot.

So should I mail them or wait just a bit more?

nanakopy87 16th January 2010 12:05 AM

chiharo, when did you place your order?i think maybe you can try email them now?i know they had some problem with the post office recently (during the christmas season).so far,i always receive my item within 7 days.Maybe because Hong Kong is quite near my country? :P

Chiharo 16th January 2010 01:12 PM

^ I've placed my order on Dec 20, 2009, and they shipped it on Dec 28, 2009.

I think I'll try e-mailing them now, since it's already been 3 weeks since they shipped the order.

Thanks for help.

I have a question about celga:

what happens with the money I have spend for an auction which I sadly don't win ?

where can I see how much money I have on my celga account ?

thank you in advance

~angel*ayumi~ 9th February 2010 11:09 AM

I whould just e-mail them and ask if youīre not sure.
They usally reply very fast^^

ayumi.hamasaki 9th February 2010 11:35 AM

thanky you

I have e-mailed them and I hope for a fast reply

LacusClyne 9th February 2010 04:38 PM

^for auction, i would strongly recommend crescent-shop instead.

unlike celga where you have to pay them the amount first, then they bid for you, you can just put a deposit of USD$50 and have a bidding limit of 25000 yen.

their system is very organise that you can bid by yourself, and put items on a watchlist too. just see the examples from my screencaps.

and you only pay when you win the auction.
i find this more user friendly, and you won't pay unnessary money, especially when sometime your budget is a little tight.

^ I don't really understand that website..

Let's say I want to buy something on yahoo auction japan or whatever, and I deposit 50$.. in that way I could have a bidding limit up to 25000 yen, which is about 250$

So let's say I buy something of 50$, will the entire 50$ deposit also be taken? So in total I'd spend 100$ on a 50$ item?

Just asking ,never used such a website :)

(Edit: holy ****ing **** I MUST BUY STUFF FROM YAJ, OMG so many treasures, so cheap!! Can't believe it!!!)

~angel*ayumi~ 9th February 2010 05:24 PM

I donīt like crescent shop because you have to make that 50$ deposit, they should offer lower deposit, like 20 or 25$. I nearly never bid so much that i whould need the 25000Yen limit
50$ is just a bit too much for me to just lay arround (as they keep it for future auctions and you need to pay the full auction after won, at least thatīs what I understood)

they won't take away your deposit, you can get it refund after you pay for your stuff. there's a nice refund button on the front page.

you only paid for the items.

the deposit is to prevent people from bidding items and not pay for them, this is a secure to crescent shop.
i have no problems with that though.

since you can get it refund, if you don't wanna bid anymore.

i prefer this over celga, at least i don't have to pay for an auction and when i lost the bid, and my money is kept in the balance....and i can't see the total exact amount if i have more lost auctions..
Since i tend to bid a lot, and more chances of lost auctions(so it will end up more then USD$50).....so i don't like the feeling of leaving more money around, and always emailing them.

at least on crescent shop, i can just click the refund button and get my money back.

i find crescent page more organise. I can see the items that i win or lost easily, my shops's order urls are in another page, and there's another page for items that have arrive at their office....These are not cluttering up my page....

on celga, the auctions urls are clutter with the shops' order url too and the arrived items are on the same page too!

ayumi.hamasaki 10th February 2010 08:48 AM

^ thank you all

I will check how Crescent Shop is, too

Probably many people asked that question, but forum is sooo big, I can't find the answer.

Is it dangerous to ship via Economy Airmail (SAL)? I mean, is it possible that my package will be lost?

Well in theory it's possible, but it's extremely unlikely to happen.

However, it MIGHT happen that they like "lose" it somewhere in a pile of other packages (or whatever, something like that) and then it might take up to 8 weeks to get to your house.

But even then, that's very unlikely and has never happened to me before :)
But I've seen it happen to people on the forum here. You might wanna consider Regular Air Mail, it's not that much more expensive, is it?

LemonEcstasy 10th February 2010 10:49 PM

So even if they lost it, my package will one day come to me, right?

LacusClyne 11th February 2010 12:44 AM

^err....lost mail normally meant lost forever....

i just had a case of lost mail. (>_<)

my friend had encounter 2 lost mails from YA, and both parcels includes those 'sold out' tour goodies, so YA can't even reship them.
