B’z song “Don’t Wanna Lie” selected as theme for Detective Conan movie

B’z has been selected to do the theme song for the new Detective Conan movie, “Detective Conan Chinmoku no Quarter”. Detective Conan is heading into its 15th year, and the B’z song “Don’t Wanna Lie” was chosen as its theme.

I'm not exactly a B'z fan but I found this and I thought I would post it here since I don't know how many people here actually know of Download to Donate. It's a campaign by Music for Relief, where people donate money towards a cause (the earthquake in Haiti last year) and more recently they launched one for the Tsunami relief in Japan. All the money donated towards the tsunami relief efforts will go to the save the children foundation. People can donate $10 or whatever amount they desire and then you get to download from the track list available (all the tracks are donated to the cause by the band/artist).

From what I've seen from the Haiti track list it is usually U.S. artist. So I was surprise when I saw a B'z song on the list for the Japan tsunami relief. The English version of their song Home is available for download if you donate to the cause. I thought I would mention it here because I tried googling B'z to see if they've done anything to help relief efforts since the Tsunami. I couldn't really find anything so I thought I would post this here for anyone that wants to know.

In case anyone doubtful for any reason, I really don't think the organization would have the legal rights to offer a B'z song unless the have permission.

If you guys do plan on donating to this Download to Donate I would say hold off for a few days. There shouldn't be a problem though because there wasn't any complaints before on their Haiti one about people not being able to get the songs. But I'm having some problems on my end.

I kept checking back to the site waiting for it to become available and I donated as soon as I saw it up because I wanted some of the other tracks on there. Music for Relief did not announce the website being up until several hours later. I'm currently having problems downloading from the links they sent me. I think it's because I kind of rush into donating when they haven't worked out all the kinks in the site.

Please note I'm not trying to convince anyone to donate to this specific organization and I apologize if I sound like it. I just wanted to mention B'z contribution towards the Tsunami Relief because I couldn't find any other via google.

B’z new ballad chosen as ending theme for NEWS 23X

Hard rock duo B’z will be singing the ending theme for TBS’s nightly news program, “NEWS 23x”. The track will be titled, “Homebound”, and is said to be a grand ballad number.

“Homebound” began running as the ending theme on April 4th for the news program. No announcements have been made about whether this song will be released as a single or not. However, fans speculate that any information regarding a release will most likely be posted on their official website, so we will all have to wait a little bit longer.

On a brighter note, B’z new single, “Sayonara Kizudarake no Hibi yo“, will be released on 4/13.

It was announced today that popular rock unit B’z will begin their third North American tour in July, their first in 8 years. B’z 2011 tour will cover three major cities including Vancouver on July 20th, San Francisco on July 22nd, and Los Angeles on July 24th.

In February, B’z guitarist Matsumoto Takahiro (50) won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Album. The awards ceremony was held in LA’s Staples Center, and B’z has chosen the adjacent Club Nokia as the location for their ‘triumphant return’ to the States.

The world-traveling duo are also good friends with American band Linkin Park, and even participated in Linkin Park’s charity project to help aid Japan after the earthquake and tsunami disaster. B’z is currently thinking of ways to aid Japan through their concerts in North America. “We would like to somehow make it so that Japanese fans can also watch the North American concerts,” a staff member reveals, highlighting plans to possibly add another show in the affected areas of Northeastern Japan.

“Sayonara, kizu-darake no hibi yo“, the 48th single from popular rock band B’z, sold 130,000 copies in its first week. It’s the first single from B’z in almost a year and a half, and it’s already gained great success by becoming the #1 hit on Oricon’s weekly single ranking for the week of April 25th.

This means that B’z has achieved 44 chart-topping singles in a row, beginning with “Taiyou no Komachi Angel“ in June 1990. The band has now broken three major single-related records in Oricon history: “Most number-one singles“, “Most consecutive number-one singles“, and “Most singles sold“.

“Sayonara, kizu-darake no hibi yo” was used as the theme song for “Pepsi Nex” commercials, which stars vocalist Inaba Koshi and guitarist Matsumoto Tak. The song was originally scheduled for a March 3oth release, but was inevitably delayed due to the earthquake and tsunami disaster.

B’z reaches an unprecented 35 million singles sold

Last week, the 48th single from rock band B’z, “Sayonara Kizu Darake no Hibi yo” (released on the 13th) sold an additional 19,000 copies (current sales 149,000), bringing B’z total singles sold to 35,012,000 with the May 2nd weekly single ranking. Crossing the 35 million mark in total singles sold is a historical first. Just behind them in second place is Mr. Children with a total of 28,178,000 singles sold.

B’z debuted back in September 1998, out of their 44 singles to hit number one, 15 of their singles including “LADY NAVIGATION” (March 1991) and “ALONE” (October 1991) have sold over one million copies each.

Rock duo B’z are gearing up to release a new album titled “C’mon” this summer!

Their 18th album is scheduled to hit stores on July 27th, and will include their hit songs “Sayonara Kizu Darake Hibi yo“, “Don’t Wanna Lie“, and “Homebound“. Meanwhile, the album’s title track, “C’mon“, will begin airing on TV as the new “Pepsi Nex” CM song in July.

Fans can choose from two different versions of “C’mon”: a limited CD+DVD version (which includes PVs) and a regular CD-only version.
