Despite the less than stellar sales of Next Level, one encouraging thing is that it's charting well against other albums. This shows that comparatively, ayu is still one of the top artistes in Japan and for the ranking to move up, it just show how front-loaded sales of other albums are, not just ayu's.

The only depressing thing is how much lower can it go? I honestly though Guilty has bottomed-out in terms of sales (not quality). Is the next album even going to reach platinum? It's depressing me in this regard.

But i'm still excited for ayu, that she's still setting records, even with Next Level and she's singing all the songs in this album and performing for all the a-nation concerts. Her heart is really in it for her fans.

i wonder if the economy gets better soon (haha, hypothetically) that Ayu's sales would increase dramatically, or if people in general are just tired of her. naturally it would at least increase just a little bit (unless something drastic happens), but i wonder by how much?

I think it would increase by the same amount all the industry increases, maybe a little less, maybe a little more(because people spend money on food for example anyway xD so they probably wont spend way more on that, but spend more money on other things they dont necessarily need, CDs for example).

A Complete showed that people aren't tired of her. You don't sell 850K of a really expensive single collection if people are tired of you or don't like you.

I'm not sure if it's a good idea (specially for this board), when they would see it charting on 5-6 with 700-1500 sales they would say things like "it's selling crap", "omg it's going to stop charting", and stuff like that.
Things are good as they are and we still get pretty high numbers (at least with ayu's releases) on those weekly spots.

Making a law about it seems a little too much. Maybe offer the stores something in return? I dunno... But even so, leaving the actual sales a mystery leaves us fans a bigger opportunity to imagine the figures are actually larger than Oricon states lol.

Thank you for sales update! Longevity is certainly the positivity for her recent works.

Nah i'll give it an 8. New albums have strong first day sales usually. But top 10, definitely.

even if the numbers aren't what people were hoping, the positions are pretty respectable. so glad there's another rise!

not much strong competitors that will be released within the next few weeks album wise (except this week's Kanjani8's PUZZLE) & maybe L'arc en Ciel's Ken's IN PHYSICAL when it's out next Wed but it will be a different case when KAT-TUN drops their 4th album Break the Records -by you & for you- (omg J-One Records , where're the covers for the album , it will be 2 weeks + before it's out but NOTHING YET even though the whole album has practically leaked out grrr :grumpy)

I just hope NEXT LEVEL can linger onto within the top 10/15 within the next 2 weeks if possible

it's a good sign that it's still in the top 10 a month+ since it was released , guess the fact that she's touring to promote it is helping it , 1 way or another

hopefully her tour will help NL to get to top 5 or even top 3!!!

Btw ayu sold by far this year 665,776 copies (Days/GREEN, Rule/Sparkle, NEXT LEVEL and AC ~AS~ 2009 oricon year counted).
With the DVD of AT08 it will be around 735,700.

Also this year I'm sure she will sell more than million copies overall of CDs/DVDs ^^.

8 more months... Who else hasn't released that could potentially kick NL out of top 10? And to think total sales hasn't reached 1st week sales for Secret. It makes me quite sad but what's important is that we get to enjoy the new album.

This is pretty amazing for a recent Ayu album, IMO. Guilty dropped like an anvil on the charts....

Remember how everyone was like disappointed in NEXT LEVEL's debut week sales, and then there was some big drama and dispute over it? Now everyone's happy that it's being consistent. :)
