I'm not really an IU fan and never have been, so I feel kind of weird coming in here to post my opinion on the album, but I figured I'd give it a shot since I took the time to sit down and give the album a serious listen. I downloaded the album because you guys loved it and the MV for Neorang Na was really well done. I didn't like the song (except for the beginning and part right after the first chorus), but I decided to try the album out anyways.
First of all, the composition for most of the songs feels really random. Nothing really flows well. None of the songs sound like they have a clear idea of how they want to sound. It's all lacking direction, like the composers and arrangers didn't really know what kind of sound they were actually going for. They seemed to have wanted the album to be cute and whimsical, but didn't really know how to achieve that, and kind of missed a few steps along the way. Second, the music is mixed too quiet, so her vocals completely overpower the music in every song. And it's not just that the vocals are too loud. It's like, in many parts of many of the songs, you can't really even hear the music behind the vocals. I think the album had potential, but it feels like an album that's only about halfway through creation, not a finished product. There's something missing in every part of it. |

I absolutely love all of the covers and promo pics! I preordered Type A CD+DVD the day the single became available for preorder and it has my favorite cover! And based on the shape, it appears that it's going to come in special packaging (not just a regular CD+DVD case)! I can't wait to watch her showcase and see the photobook! I hope her MV for this song comes out soon as well!

I'm really looking forward to hearing "Rain Drop" in Japanese as well! I haven't listened to the Korean version much but if it translates just as flawlessly into Japanese like "Good Day" did, I'm sure it's going to sound awesome!

I reformatted the post so it would be easier to read. I copied it directly from the website and have no idea why they would post the song titles horizontally rather than vertically. The mini album contains all new original songs (all of her previously released Japanese single songs are excluded) with the limited edition CD+DVD containing 6 songs (the last song is a bonus track) while the CD only has 5 songs. The DVD contains IU's history in Japan wihle the CD only has a first press bonus of a sticker.

Hey! I searched for an IU thread but I couldn't find it anywhere so I decided to make one. I discovered her not more than two months ago but I'm simply in love with her. Her latest album entitled "Modern Times" was released this autumn and it's a really impressive jazzy album. My Modern Times CD arrived yesterday !! I'm so glad! I had to cancel MT Epilogue because I had a problem with the card but I still managed to buy the regular edition of Modern Times :D
I finally listened to See You On Friday and Pastel Crayon!! (I wanted to listen to them when my CD arrives and I managed to do so)..Pastel Crayon is a really nice addition to Modern Times album. Friday is nice but not love at first sight. |
