I love the melody & arrangement! I think she sounds pretty fine too, just that the high notes sound kind of... her usual self, which isn't to my liking lol... ah well, I still like it a lot though

But why are you saying it is old-school / ASFXX? I don't hear ANY similarity. ASFXX had squeeky and synthy instruments, and Ayu sounded super high pitched. In crossroad you hear gorgeous organic instruments and Ayu sings in her 'recent' voice.

O.o How can you not? It sounds a bit like POWDER SNOW if you ask me! :P You're also forgetting that A Song For xx was made in the 90's (kind of similar to the 80's when we had synthy instruments)! <.< If you ask me, it's a crossover between old and new! <33

What is this "90's sound"?

hehe u don't rly like her old style vocal?
me too actually, but i'm gonna give her chance..i love the song already after listening to the a-nation live recording..specially the verse part..
when she sang live, she didn't sound like the old style~

The early 90's were a bit synthy... But I think this song is a pretty good example of a 90's sound... ^^;; (YEEAH, I'm a music person. :P)

Well, it's a sweet song. Thats pretty much all I want to say about it. And I don't see the connection the song have to the covers. I'm either superexcited nor superdisapointed.

nanakopy87 2nd September 2010 02:52 PM

i quite like the preview.hopefully the whole song will be amazing! :D

Sexylittlethings 2nd September 2010 02:53 PM

@HONEY: Yes, that clip sounds very ASFXX. But I still think crossroad sounds nothing like that synthy sound, instead it sounds very organic and full. o.o

in the part of the chorus where she hits her high notes; yeah it's in the "style" of her old voice, but I feel like her voice back then had a clearer quality to it, whereas this one here sounds a little flat and bleh and shrilly imo.

But again, this isn't exactly super HQ so maybe a CD-rip in the future will change my mind!

AyUmIXx 2nd September 2010 03:11 PM

^ yeap guess so..
haha..
yea even though she sounds like the oldschool ayu but it still has the rough-ness on it..just like her current vocal..
vocal does change when someone gets older rite?

Sexylittlethings 2nd September 2010 03:12 PM

..Where in the chorus does she hit high notes comparable to ASFXX era? ô.o I only hear at 00:31 one time.

Kanzaki 2nd September 2010 03:22 PM

Don't take everything people say super-duper literally. We know not to do this at this point. People get excited over her new music, of course, and we all write stuff that might not exactly be 100% true, like "zomg, her voice is totally high-pitched!" and people go "Err, no?" :)

Anyway. It's a really nice song. I've listened to the preview a couple of times, and it's good. I hope it will tie in nicely with the other songs.

I meant, that particular one time :yes

The arrangement is much better now, that's for sure, but the melody is still ugly. I liked the last part of the preview when it got all soft though. I want a preview of SEVEN DAYS WAR, or some information on "L."

Sexylittlethings 2nd September 2010 03:58 PM

@waterballoon: Ah, okay, haha.

@Kanzaki: When someone says she sounds as high-pitched as in the ASFXX area, I don't see how taking that comment seriously = taking it super-duper literally. Either you think it's as high-pitched as in the ASFXX area and you post that, or you don't. :P Clearly it was seriously, as it's the 00:31 note.

ohsixthirty 2nd September 2010 04:00 PM

the preview is sounding much much better, but i'm still not convinced by this song. i'm hoping it will grow on me. :yes

AyUmIXx 2nd September 2010 04:03 PM

let's wait til we get to hear the verse part..
i think that's the best part of the song..
I'm already in love with the song when listening to the audio live recording..
that verse part just WOW :)

tokyoxjapanxfan 2nd September 2010 04:04 PM

The "L" font has been added on mu-mo's site ;)
