Plese tell me there are some killer songs on the album pleaaaase i cant listen til tonight

ayu_ready? 4th July 2017 03:29 PM

the album is very chill and my sister didn't like it, because it doesn't sound like Hyori's.
I actually like the album. it's chill and I feel experimental, so, there aren't any sexy bops on it, but I'm fine with it anyway

Negi92 4th July 2017 03:42 PM

Wait wait that snake song is SLAAAAAYIN

Corvina 4th July 2017 04:04 PM

Apart from Love me maybe, the album is pretty mellow and alternative in sound.
I really like it, except the last two songs. Those are just the usual boring ballads.

Baco__ 4th July 2017 05:45 PM

it sounds like monochrome but toned down, imho. White snake (?) is the best by far, but it's too similar to monochrome to me :( I also wish there were at least a sexy bop haha but there isn't.

Corvina 5th July 2017 05:18 AM

@Baco_
Really?
Monochrome was mostly retro styled pop.
Black is pretty different imo.
I seriously love the new album, especially Black, the song.

maddy1111 6th July 2017 01:32 PM

yeah, I agree with Corvine.
On Black album, I also cannot see or hear anything similar to Monochrome, despite the fact album is vastly different from her previous dance/pop/hip-hop style. But actually I am starting to love it how different she sounds with every new release. If you are listening her discography, you can see a great progress from Stylish ...E to Black. Now she seems to be more "mature artist" than before, but still very stylish artist.

thinkingoutloud89 6th July 2017 09:17 PM

I really like the album and I can see the nod to Monochrome somehow...I strangely feel a connection between Bad Girls and Black (the song) even if both songs are totally different if you know what I mean.

I think she is very smart in choosing songs for her limited vocal skills while still managing to create interesting and songs.

There are so many great tracks in the album. I'm in love with Mute right now.

ayu_ready? 16th July 2017 04:19 PM

She promoted the album only for 1 week and then it was over.
the album didn't even get in top 50 and didn't sell.
how bad.

AyuHamasaki01 16th July 2017 08:07 PM

This album is not really my cup of tea...

thinkingoutloud89 16th July 2017 10:22 PM

the album is so great. love it!

ahtka-chan 17th July 2017 02:09 PM

Yeah, she had like 50k in downloads (which is not great) and the physical version didn't sell 1k yet so... yeah, we can call that a flop.

But I think she's happy with the album she created, so that's a win for me. On the other hand, the album is very alternative so it's understandable people don't really like it. I love her stuff, but even I have some difficulty listening to it. I only enjoy, like, three tracks from it.

New single coming soon on July 18th but it's not a solo one! She's releasing this song under a new group called SSAK3.

Quote:

SSAK3 is an upcoming co-ed project group through MBC's "How Do You Play?". The group is composed of Yoo-Dragon (Yoo Jae Suk), Linda G (Lee Hyori) and B-Ryong (Rain). They will make their debut on July 18, 2020.

Lee Hyori has signed an exclusive contract with ESteem Entertainment.

On May 15, ESteem Entertainment CEO Hyun Soo Jin announced Lee Hyori had signed with the label, stating, "We're happy to be joined by Lee Hyori, an unwavering style icon who moves the public's heart just by her presence. We'll continue a good relationship."

Fans are already excited about what this could mean in terms of albums or variety shows for the singer as she's been mostly out of the limelight since her marriage to Lee Sang Soon in September of 2013. Since then, the couple has featured on the hit reality series 'Hyori's Bed and Breakfast', Lee Hyori joined Fin.K.L for the 'Camping Club' series, and she also recently appeared on 'Hangout with Yoo'.

Stay tuned for updates on Lee Hyori!

I'm really enjoying this new project Hyori is working on and the acts she are collaborating with. The songs have that 90s Kpop vibe that today's Kpop does not have anymore. It'd be nice if she collabed with Yoon Mi Rae in the future.

tokyoxjapanxfan 3rd August 2020 10:24 AM

Yesss.

I’m actually surprised k-pop has been able to retain its formulaic release / group structure. I suppose it’s still new to the English-speaking world but I do hope solo acts come back into popularity.

thinkingoutloud89 3rd August 2020 09:44 PM

She is working on a project group with Jessi, Hwa Sa and Um Jung Ha btw.
