I haven't quite given up hope just yet. I think Ayu still has some fight in her for the next few years to come. I mean, there are still lots of people in Japan who consider her the Queen of J-Pop even today. We won't really be able to tell whether Kuu is the new "Queen" or not until she releases an album that isn't titled "BEST" -- because naturally, the name BEST inflates sales a tad. I am a little surprised at Ayu's sales in general -- they're a bit lower than they used to be. I was EXTREMELY shocked that (miss) didn't break 1~million -- I thought it was her best album in a long time, and I thought that Startin'/Born To Be... would do a lot better, too. I have a feeling, however, that BLUE BIRD won't do much better. The previews weren't that great. I hope to God, however, that it debuts at #1 weekly so she can keep her consecutive #1 streak. It would make 27. She'll have some competition, though -- b/w Kuu and Hirai Ken, BLUE BIRD is a very big risk in terms of her #1 streak. It's still nice to know that she has sold the most singles for females and her collective album sales exceed 43~million! ^__^ Overall, I'm still very happy with Ayu, but like I said before...I feel the distance. She needs to find her creative persona again, because lately it seems that her work lacks that certain flair and sense of originality and creativity that Ayu always had. When she finds it again though, she'll definitely produce a -HIT!-
