LacusClyne, thanks for all the interesting info but I don't agree on a few things.

I don't think her payment is bigger than Rain because Rain is a popular act in almost every single country in Asia and organizers would probably do anything to have him to do a concert in their country (and he also have much more experience in worldwide tours, so the organizers are sure the event will sell). He also do concerts in bigger stadiums while Ayu will make her concert in arenas for about 7,000-10,000 people (in another asian countries, that is, not in Japan), and if you do a concert in a stadium you're obviously getting more money than if you're doing in an arena.

i kinda misplaced my sentence,
i meant to say that ayu's concert FULL cost(ayu's pay, and her whole team) turns out to be higher then Rain. not to mention ayu's stage costs is already higher then Rain.

Isn't probably cheaper to buy the $800 tickets than paying for a flight ticket + accomodation + transportation + tickets for another concert?

yes, it depends.....
sometimes, staying in hotels can be quite costly, unless you stay with someone. that will cut down your costs.
but honestly speaking, if you take the effort to go oversea, you can still have a nice vacation.

yes, he is. i know too many Rain's fans all over Asia.
but since we're talking about the situation in Singapore. i'm just stating he is more popular then ayu HERE.
there are people who know Rain, but not ayu.....

i dun agree that rain is more popular than ayu just bcuz tt the korean craze is super strong now~but most of the people over here are still listening to ayu's music~and i think that ayu is way more popular than rain~please flash back to 2002,where almost everyone over here listen to ayu's music and till now most of them are still buying or listening to ayu's new album...and ayu's new album beats rain and is still on the no.1 spot over here~anywya that's just my opinion, hope i didn't offend anyone..

ayu_fan929 12th January 2007 03:08 AM

^About the album thing, that could be because Ayu's release is more recent than Rain's? Ayu's was in late November while Rain's I think was October-ish?

Terri 12th January 2007 03:09 AM

Um. It wouldn't hurt to make a concert less of a production.

Piccolo 12th January 2007 04:28 AM

Going outside of your country to perform cost a ton and requires a lot of work. There is a lot of little things such as VISAs and the such to take care of. If there isn't a huge demand for the star to come to another country, it is a HUGE waste of money just to tour for one or two days in one or two cities.

i believe you're in Singapore right?

you should be able to see the Rain craze here. it is stronger then ayu.
look at all the stores, rain's promotion is stronger then ayu. and Rain's cd actually sell more then ayu(in the long run). and it stays longer on the chart

yah i know that there are lots of promotions in train station etc. over here now~hmm maybe you're right~but judging from what i had observed and the no. of years ayu had been gaining her popularity over here,i still think that ayu is more popular than rain~if she comes here for a concert,i'm sure pp will be able to afford it(and fans from nearby countries too)~i mean she has lots of fans age 20 and above too~and some pp will be curious for sure how does the "jpop queen"'s concert feel like in real and go and watch her concert~

Looks like there is a debate in between hiroshi ben and LacusClyne here.

In my humble opinion, in the case of singapore (i m stayin in singapore oso), i think Rain is definately gettin more n more popular. Concerning about the crazy Rain promotions, i think its because of Rain's concert??

and i kinda dun really fully agree when people says Rain has a range of older working fans and its more than Ayu. I still think that the people who craze after Rain are those school girls (obviously, there would be also many working women who like pretty boys too). While Ayu is a longer singer (previously young fans would have grown up by now?!) should have a range of more variaty of fans??

ayu_fan929 13th January 2007 07:43 PM

^I think housewives should also be added for Rain's fanbase.

Actually, it would.
People expect an Ayu-quality production when they go see Ayu.
Even a-nation, she pulls out all the stops.

If she's gonna go overseas, she's probably not going to just casually do some concert in the middle of the city or something :\

Ayu_Jayson 13th January 2007 08:06 PM

Hmm, time will tell =)

The larger concert, as in more people, the lower the cost, I'd guess.

Well, making it less of a dramatic production doesn't necessarily mean the quality of her concerts would lessen. I'm sure they can think of alternative ways to make the show exciting, yet less expensive.

but she's known in Singapore for being queen of japan concert. Everyone knows ayu for her big and spendid stage, dramatic effect, great costumes......

if ayu were to cut down on those, i can imagine what people and the press will say 'ayu so-called Asia Tour is a Budget tour.......her clothes aren't impressive enough and the stage look low class compared to the concerts held in japan.'

they will write and say all this. people will simply compare it with the concerts ayu held in japan. then, ayu won't look good......

alternarist 14th January 2007 03:11 AM

oka fter raeding the article.. i sorta understand why ayu didnt come to singapore.. i shall accept it.. *sighs*

just cross our fingers and pray that she will come to singapore next time.
i think she shd have came to singapore during the 2002 times when she was at her peak. i think fans were willing to pay a high price to cover the cost...
sigh sigh

i know a couple of aunties who like Rain too. They think he's a cute little boy after watching 'Full House'. They already got the tickets to his concert, some had tickets given by their husbands; or their daughters buy them the tickets and they are going TOGETHER.

off topic: if i can still get the free Rain's concert tickets when i purchase my handphone, i will go!!! he is a good performer, i will be an idiot if i don't go when i happen to have tickets
