So..being a good single is not necessary then?
Humm..
ARASHI also did the theme of HYD and besides, is a Johnny Group...
Even that Utada sold a lot more.

It's not advertised as her 43rd single, just as a digital single...

Hikki released "This Is Love" as a digital single before she released "ULTRA BLUE" and I don't think that counted as an "actual" single.

In Japan? Not really. A load of singles suck but they still sell well because of other factors apart from quality. Utada sold well for a number of reasons. Firstly it was a sad ballad and Japanese are suckers for ballads. Also HYD pushed her single much more. Finally her divorce made people think she sang the song for her break up and people felt sad for her. I still think the divorce was too conveniently announced during the release of the single. Finally her name still contains a lot of weight and her fanbase is strong. FoL was good but seriously it's overrated.

Aww.. Such a sweet title!! I love it :D Thanx for the info~

Foxxy_Fuyumi 6th November 2007 07:58 PM

Demure you're right, Im not questioning that.
But going that way...Ayumi X Nagase, one of the most well known couple of Japan.
When they broke up, there was much publicity than Utada's divorce.
So, that was another huge factor to T2M have great sales...
Conclusion:
Even glitter/fated sold more LOL.
Besides, Ayumi's fanbase is really big...maybe as big as Utada's, I dont know.

Nagase is a hottie and I'm pretty sure most girls were happy about the break up rather than feeling sad about Ayu. Most Johnny's fans like their artists single and available so that they can dream about them. Plus they remained on friendly terms so there was less drama and in the end they were only dating so it was bound to happen if they never got married.

On the other hand Hikki was married and the divorce suggested a more sad parting. Kiriya also have that much fans and most people were more sad for Hikki .

Also, like ayumisrael said glitter/fated was released during the era of the breakup. T2M was later on.

^But when glitter/fated was relesead we didnt know already abut the break up...
