But it appeared on the album NINKI so I guess it will be charting as an album :P

Yup, it's over 30 minutes length so Oricon and the RIAJ count it as an album ; )

I'm guessing it'll sell a bit better than her regular singles but I hardly think it'll sell like an album. Still, 30k or higher would be great ; )

Meat Pao 28th August 2010 10:28 AM

^ Really? I thought they'll chart as an album if there are more than 4 original songs or something along the lines of that? (Cuz Kaela Kimura's Ring a Ding Dong was ~42 mins and charted as a single after all xD)

Anyway, here's the PV for Free Planet!

My first time listening to this song and damn it sounds amazing!

Holy crap I love Free Planet!

Also, to answer your question, it only counts for original tracks. Live tracks don't count, neither do remixes. The reason Ayu's A still counted as an album was because of the original tracks.

But I do think it's EITHER 30 minutes OR 4 tracks, so you're right on that one : P

Yeah it's more than four original songs. Not time limit. And seeing as how this single has nearly 20 original tracks, it's no surprise it's counted as an album.

TheBaronAndAyu 29th August 2010 03:10 PM

Thanks for that MP. Free Planet kicks ass! It's one of those rock songs that Shiho absolutely pulls off perfectly. :D

Are you sure about the time limit? Because I know that DOES count in the UK.

If it was counted by time limit, then there would be a lot of albums with a lot of instrumental tracks lol. Besides, that applies in the UK. Did you forget this was a Japanese release?

Of course I didn't forget, lol, I just thought it was curious that two countries would have a different approach.

Oh, and for the record, the UK approach only counts the time of original songs, not instrumentals or remix: P (Barring instrumental and remix albums, obviously)

Well then I guess I'm uneducated to as how they release singles in the UK haha. But yeah it's only tracks, not time. Gossip Candy was a single since it had 4 tracks. EXILE FANTASY is an album since it was a single with 9 tracks (I think it was advertised as a double maxi single but ORICON was like no)

Brilliant to hear she's doing well.

And yeah, AHS needs to join the Tamashii Revolution! :D

Meat Pao 2nd September 2010 02:13 PM

Superfly is #1 today!!!!!!!! With 33521 copies sold, bringing it to a total of 68 380 copies sold! There's barely any drop in sales, which is a good thing. I hope it remains consistent like this for the rest of the week.

I doubt she'd get #1 weekly unless the sales remain consistent because Domoto Koichi has ~100k+ sold so far, so she has some catching up to do if she wants to get #1!

AyuGAME 2nd September 2010 04:34 PM

^i think she can do it...

Well, he IS Johnny's so if his sales keep on dropping as usually and she keeps on selling so consistently she might get no.1!

Still, we can already be really really proud of her since this single is selling like a popular album!

ストロボ・EdGE 3rd September 2010 04:28 AM

Great sales for a 3,000 yen single!!

Nackar_91 3rd September 2010 01:24 PM

So she sold an additional 17k today, which brings total sales near 90k. She's still 35k behind Domoto Koichi so I doubt she'll be able to gain in on him, but these sales are already a great achievement for her!

TheBaronAndAyu 3rd September 2010 04:54 PM

Brilliant to hear about her sales! I just hope there's a FP edition left for me :q

Meat Pao 4th September 2010 04:50 PM

Wow I'm honestly surprised w/ how the sales are looking like so far. She's still #1 with 16k copies sold with only a slight drop from yesterday! Domoto Koichi sold ~6k, so their gap is still around 25k.

Here is Superfly's performance (+talk) of Wildflower on Music Station yesterday:

Hopefully sales will increase tomorrow since it's the weekend + from the MS perf

TheBaronAndAyu 5th September 2010 08:33 AM

Thanks for the MP! The performance was great. :D

If my Japanese serves me correctly:

The first subtitle says something about working on a rice crop (?) and "Father's Words". I think Shiho also talks about her father. Maybe he was her inspiration?

The second subtitle says "You eat tomato how?" After Shiho mentions she likes to eat tomato with soy sauce.

The Third subtitle says "Ehime Parents are..." Ehime is Shiho's hometown.

The fourth subtitle says "Artist Parents are..."

The fifth subtitle says "Topical Drama Theme Song!", seeing as Wildflower is a drama named GOLD's theme song.

..Phew. I hope I didn't mess up and your welcome to submit a better translation. :)
